Follow #Paris2Pebble as David Disiere restores a French 1948 Delahaye 135 M cabriolet Faget-Varnet for the 2016 Concours de'Elegance at Pebble Beach.
It was found decaying among 60 rare cars in a French barn owned by the late collector Roger Baillon.
The discovery of the fifty-year old Baillon car collection has been described as the "barn find of the century" and the automotive equivalent of Tutankhamun's tomb.
This is only the third known of six original models to survive. Disiere bought the Delahaye at an auction staged in February 2016 by the French auction house Artcurial Motorcars. It made its first appearance at the 1948 Paris Motor Show.
Our Delahaye is being restored by Stone Barn Automobile Restorations in Vienna, New Jersey.

Gorgeous Restoration!! Amazing Car. Regards from Europe Barcelona Spain
This is beyond POETRY IN MOTION....just absolute stunning there's
no words to describe the love and effort that has put a life once again
in to the frozen in time piece of history. Way to go guys!
just a beautiful piece of art, cars will never be like that ever again, and glad to see it not lost forever, great work ,
An amazing restoration to most likely better than new standard! Well done!
Timeless elegance, congratulations on bringing her back, to where she belongs, with eyeballs fixated on her!!!
A truly amazing restoration. I would not even know where to start.
lovingly restored by a bunch of good guys - real craftsmanship you legends thank you.
This is fabulous. What a treasure this turned out to be!
My word, what a beautiful car! Such style and elegance, why can't we make cars like this today? Surely one of the prettiest cars ever made?
Wow, c'est magnifique! Congratulations on a beautiful result, bringing this beautiful, classy lady back to perfection.
stunning restoration, but the chosen colors don't pluck my heart strings
Thank the restorers ,Some of this looked beyond hope of repair .
Off for another century of glory. I don't think we'll see cars from nowadays last half that long. :-)
I concur with everything said by every one here. I was sad by what I saw at the start but by the time the magicians did their magic I was spellbound. Absolutely wonderful.
I remember watching the auction live on-line for all those Baillon cars...you are a credit sir to your dedication in restoring this beautiful car.
Credit to all involved reviving this piece of lost art
Pfffffffffffffffffff....................what an amazing JOB ! .........................................That means everything is possible! Thank you!
F.R.
Wow, unbelievable, what a astonishing work you did on that car, it is so beautiful with the sweeping bodylines.
Stunning restoration. Thank god it has been loving saved and now can enjoy the admiration and applause of Delahaye lovers - I am one of them!
Watching it reminded me of going thru old photos and seeing your little girl grow up little by little, year by year.
Beautiful ....... made me smile seeing the final result.
What an undertaking. 99.9% of us would walk away from that job not only for the complexity of the restoration or the huge amount of money it would take but to find missing parts would be a huge challenge. I'm guessing due to rust nearly every fastener broke off when trying to unscrew.
I wish my friend would take pictures of the cars he has put interiors in for the Stone Barn! When I asked him years ago his response was "it's just another car."
If they can't find a part, they make it! Absolutely amazing driving by during the summer when you might get a glimpse of what they are working on!
That looks like a mind-numbing amount of work. I'll bet the restorers could make more money per hour working on Corollas. Got an appreciation for French cars, they do have style. Great job, nice to see it live again.
Absolument magnifique !!!
Superbe restauration d une grande qualité . Trésor d un temps passé et perdu. Grand respect. Bravo.
Wonderful, Beautiful..Originality, most important(paint) at PEBBLE BEACH CONCOURSE D' ELEGANCE......
Beautiful, just beautiful!
Thank you for sharing. Stunning.
The perfect car to cruise paris in 1950s
What a fabulous automobile the Delahaye is and a fantastic restoration project by skilled hands. Thank you so much. Very enjoyable video
Super voiture, quelle beau travail de restauration. Merci à ce propriétaire d'avoir fait vivre notre patrimoine français !!
awesome restoration. jewel of the oldies brought back to life.
Astonishing! What a masterpiece, what a job, I'm blown away. Now I'd like to see if the rest of the collection received so much attention.
Une splendeur ! D'habitude, ce sont les paysages qui sont "à couper le souffle"... Là, c'est une voiture de légende. Bravo !
Magnifique restauration. Compliments pour la réalisation de ce beau résultat . Chapeau ! .
Beautiful work on a beautiful automobile. Bravo!
Simply incredible.
Awesome to see. Would love to see all classics restored to presine running and driving conditions.... Car companies should stop making new cars and find the old ones and restore all of them and resell them.
Back when cars were made with pride. Such lines, each car was unique. Today...
That is simply stunning! A fantastic restoration for a fantastic automobile.
Il faut beaucoup de courage et un compte en banque bien rempli pour osez s' attaquer à une restauration aussi compliquée vu l' état de corrosion avancé du véhicule. Magnifique travail.
Fantastique travail! C'est remarquable !
A truly magnificent restoration indeed.
Brought back beautifully
Masterpiece Presentation
Wow, what a fabulous piece of art!
I did not expect that two tone color scheme. But man was it the right choice. Perfection.
Nice choice of music.
Agreed.
Was it supposed to be music??? I thought it was some sort of audio warfare.
Just beautiful.
You saved an innocent car from being forgotten god bless your souls.
Good people with talent and the money to save these cars for the rest of us to see
fabulous car and fascinating restoration. Great video.
Beautiful job done and now for the rest of them
With a surname of De La Haye how could I not take a great interest, thankyou from Wairoa in New Zealand
😊 heureux d'avoir pu monter dans cette voiture étant jeune.
This is when good music tells you such a good story about car
Superbe, fantastique, merci
Absolutely stunning.
Verdadeiras obras de arte, preservadas felizmente, parabéns para os que preservaram e restauraram estas pérolas, etc . maneco-Porto Alegre-RS -Brasil.
World Class, pat yourselves on the back for such devotion to a worthy automobile.
Most beautiful car ever!
The blue was much much 💙 much-loved
Not the biggest fan of that color combo, but I am impressed with how well preserved it was under that that chrome trim over the headlights! I also suddenly have the taste for some choclate/vanilla swirl pudding.......
Absolutely stunning!
I liked the blue color for it
Same here, also thought violet and a grape-ish purple done the same way as the tan and brown would look good on it too.
We liked the blue but when we removed the chrome strips on the front fender it revealed the two tone brown and cream. In order to show in the Delahaye Postwar Class at Pebble Beach it had to be restored to the original state. We have a new mini doc up that explains more. Thanks for watching.
All it takes is knowledge, experience, talent, and money. Otherwise, it's a piece of cake to restore.
tres belle restauration, Emile would have been proud
Beautiful. Congratulations.
Such a beautiful automobile! Too bad they didn’t include any of the body work to repair the rot and rust. Thank God this car was saved for posterity!
Oh man!! This is beautiful!!!😊😊❤️
I just adore the very underated sound of the Accordion, so very French.
So much compliments for restore!
I think the Robins egg blue looked nice. Beautiful restoration. I bet it required one off part fabrication.
Beautiful job
It's been born again!
thx for French car ;)
Gorgeous
Stunning!
Fantastic
Beautiful restoration.
Chocolate toffee yummy color combo
Certainly accentuates the curves
Nice job! great find.
Wow!! never seen one before but Wow!!
Excellent job
Bravo! Yeeees !
I wish these highly exotic car were given the same consideration as antique furnature. For once I'd love to see one just mechanically restored and the cosmetics preserved. It's like earasing the heart and the history of the car for the sake of Pebbley Beach. The interior/hides looked great from here! In this way the lower dollar car world is ahead of the high dollar car world, though it took until the early 2000s for folks to realize original, unrestored and preservation over restoration approach.. Thank you for the video anyway! (To bad ya can't drive it ;) :D )
It was far beyond preservation
It's only antique American furniture buyers who want to see the original finish even if it's barely presentable now. Other markets are more reasonable and want to see beautiful restorations if the original finish has deteriorated to the point that it has lost its original beauty. This car was pretty far gone when they found it. The "barn" didn't offer much shelter from the elements.
The closest thing to what you want is an ICON Derelict restomod by Jonathan Ward. See ua-cam.com/video/B3X8DtxYt8I/v-deo.html
Its sad that you squeeze such an amazing incredible undertaking in under 4 minutes.
I‘d really like to see more of the baillon excotics restored !
That was a serious restoration, Coach built bodies are never easy but that one looked pretty bad.
Beautiful car and astonishing paint work. I was just wondering if the valve cover really was originally chromed?
What craftsmanship
Bravo gentleman!
What is the music ????
Beautiful
Really nice video - I enjoyed it.
Awesome...!
I once attempted driving a right hand drive car. Scared me, a lot! I can drive on the wrong side of the road but not the wrong side of the car. A condition caused by 50+ yrs of Canadian roads. The Delahaye is a beautiful automobile!
Try driving a right hand drive car with a manual tranny, on English roads with compound roundabouts! That's scary.
Considering how every single piece of that car had to be restored, the cost of the restoration had to a NO COST SPARED restoration. It would be interesting to know how much was spent.
Bravo!
to bad the world dosent make cars like this anymore ! :(
