Asteroids spawn over time, so the longer you stay in a round the more there will be. Lots of short rounds means repeating the least efficient part of a round as much as possible.
More power means you stay in the harvest round longer. The longer you are in a harvest round, the higher the multiplier. Honestly waited the entire video hoping you would realize that and start taking the power upgrades. 😂😂
I am once again amazed by Haelian's staunch refusal to ever try to infer anything he doesn't get spelled out. Like that the multiplier might come from time spent in the mission. Sidenote, the arrow always seems to be pointing towards the closest asteroid. As you and they move, the closest one might change. Other times, I think it's that you've shot the closest one down at a distance and just don't collect the green thingy, as that doesn't seem to be what the arrow's pointing at. I hope we see more of this game.
I have to say in all the branching incremental games you play you seem to ignore certain branches because they don't seem as useful but at some point they become dirt cheap compared to other upgrades you buy, like power costing 10-12 bits but spending 40 on 5% attack speed. May be something to consider. Anyways it doesn't really bother me, i love these videos, i hope more are coming
While you were missing the fact that staying in the round longer does increase your multiplier, I don't really think it matters. This game is very chill so it seems but also kinda dull? Like it's probably worth $1 but like, meh, the upgrades are super uninteresting and also, not all that impactful. You started at what, 15 damage? And even with ALL those damage upgrades didn't even make it to 40. Idk, I think they tried to draw it out a bit much. Take something like To The Core (which I bought and played because of your playthrough) and you can really see the difference interesting upgrades makes. That game was FAR more interesting because it just had such a variety of weapons and such.
If this game was 3-5$ id be disappointed but for 1$ it was fun enough for 3 hours, it really doesnt have any exciting upgrades unfortunately. If there was like bullet ricochet upgrades or mechanical upgrades like a speed boost then that would improve the quality by a lot. Seems like the game was still in active development even a few days ago so kinda wish it would have had the early access tag because there was major system changes(used to unlock the new asteroids in the spawn rate tree and not when buying the new generators) so perhaps there will be more exciting stuff later on which will be too bad because i've finished it and wont have any desire to replay.
A coffee break would have done you wonders but I think the harvest mechanic threw you. I think harvesting is just a substitute for the clicking in a lot of these games. I'd suggest trying to get your magmatism to be off the screen. If the 10% is compounding it shouldn't take too many.
Good game to start, but the end is just a 1-2hr grind without a lot of interesting progression. I wish it had more mechanics like To the Core to make the late game interesting. 3.5/5 incremental game because of the later game.
12:25 Dan : Where are the asteroids, they're so faaaaar away !!!! :'( Also Dan, 1 minute earlier : Why The Fuck should I buy an upgrade to make the bullets go farther ? Love it ! Never change :)
doesn't steam take the entire dollar? I thought they needed a minimum of 1$ per game, yay gabe gets close to another yacht, I am so sick of people worshipping the church of intellectual property law
While IP law in the US is very broken, what you're describing has nothing to do with it. IP is about creators (or more often the people who own the rights to their creations) being the only ones allowed to profit off of their creations for a set amount of time. Currently that time frame is absurdly long, but that has nothing to do with steam's profit split percentage.
Dan's refusal to take power capacity needs to change
But whyyyyy
@Haelian more power means you can go longer each round and collect more resources each time.
@@ThatJerkHerc Right I'm aware of that but you can just start another Harvest instantly anyway...?
@@Haelianwithout having played myself, less power felt like a fine decision to me for that reason.

Good example for how microcopy could have made a big difference ^^
I kept watching the multiplier but I saw no indication that it went up with time spent per round... THEY COULDA TOLD ME
cant wait for episode 2. this kind of thing is how i de-stress and untangle my brain. i hope he gets another 3% spawn rate and 5% attack speed!
At this point I just pick up every incremental game you play before I even watch

Dan, since you were asking, the genre of music in this game is called Chilltrap.

Yeah. They need to ramp up faster early on. And then smooth it out once the harvesting is faster.
I think you're right that I've made that mistake in the past, there are often better things past what we can see. Will consider for the next episode!

I'm hooked on Dungeon Clawler and Lake Of Creatures right now. Both new roguelikes.

Still 30%, and gabe is at the bottom of the list of rich people to get mad at
