First lets take a moment to salute our men, women, and children in uniform. Secondly how exactly do you lose that much of Germany and only take 1.4 million casualties in the process. I've never seriously tried a 1939 start, but it seems like Germany ought to have taken more losses being pushed back from Poland.
I’ve done a Ragnorok playthrough before and only lost 700,000 troops in 3 years playing defense while inflicting 60,000,000 casualties worldwide including 12 million Soviets, 3 million Yugoslavians, and 1 million Swiss which have only 3.5 million total population in their country at the time so idk how tf that happened, but if you never attack and get cycle charged, you’ll inflict heavy casualties while pretty much not losing anyone, even if they are unequipped.
@@akadoiphin267 I get that, but the person who sent in this save lost a whole lot of territory without either taking a whole lot of casualties or inflicting very many on the Soviets. It just seems kinda weird.
I think getting Medical Support Companies would have really helped you here if you could handle the equipment cost, weirdly they are very good in games where you struggle in manpower. And I mean like gamebreakingly good.
I tried this disaster save. I picked every German units, the best on the ground into one and spread it accross Germanys border to hold the russians, while those expeditionary forces kept Greece. Ofcourse go for 20w with art supp. Gather your scraps of airforce and set them on southern Germany. Start making mills. Focus on counter attacks and possible pockets. I managed to retrieve some of most industrilized areas of Germany and kept around 160 factorys, but most painful thing was manpower and that resultet in my defeat. The player was just too bad. Ill try next time this strategy but then I go straight for 20% conscription ( plus additional 5% from Volkssturm ) and man up the battlefields more quickly and Ill see how it goes :)
Alex, i recommend changing the occupation in controlled countries, because even if you cant get a core on their land, you can change the resistance mode they are in with the occupation tab, they can either have lower resistance, higher compliance, more mapower, more factories or equal amount of factories and manpower, which allows you to get more from non core states, So even if you lost 90% of your core land you can still fight back even in scenarios like this one, Just use the occupied territories button, it really helps.
Alex you cant win the air in this situations, year is 1942. Air is very important yes but you cant produce more planes than allies in the late game. Just add anti air to the divisions.
@@shaunlevin5081 Short term it seems like a waste to switch but ultimately what did the fighters do? They got shredded and it was a waste of 15 factories and resources. It might take a year to get going but once you have AA in the divisions you'll drastically reduce the efficiency of the enemies air. If they were up to date fighters possibly it could be worth it but 1936 fighters in 1944? Useless.
Producing fighters are 100% waste. It didnt have any impact. You just cant win in the late game if you didnt didnt do air in the early game. Just waste of manpower and production. 4-6 factory on AA would have better
I feel like there needs to be a major overhaul for the way air forces work. It's ridiculous how anyone can have literally thousands to planes flying over a single region at a time, let alone multiple countries having their planes there as well. At that point they'd start crashing into one another lol.
Doubt it, regions are pretty big. And if you have 3k aircraft operating there, probably only a fraction of that is present at any time. Most will be refueling/repairing or flying back and forth. During Fall Gelb, Germany used about 4000 planes reportedly, which would mostly be in the equivalent of one airzone I guess?
your real issue was war support, high war support gives a massive bonus to mobilization speed. at 1943 you had 12% max manpower but only 7% that you could actually use. you kept getting your max manpower higher while sacrificing your production while not upping your war support. if you had 100% you would have had 30%+mobilization speed and a nice 10%attack and defense on core territory. therefore if you spent your pp on war support you would have been able to hold and maybe even push the soviets thus saving this save.
He does realise that the war support was more important than the conscription law? His bottleneck was not with recruitable pop but with mobilization speed, wich would be increased with more war support? Or am i missing something here
- Would conscription laws even help here? Given that you barely have cores left, I don't think you're raising any new manpower. - Any option of switching units to Dutch/Belgian/etc divisions? - Calling in the Netherlands seems like a mistake. Probably better to have them be frontline that only the USSR needs to man? - Probably too late to recall an army to deal with a softer target. Spain can give good manpower if it wasn't in yet, but probably too late anyway. I'm guessing you have no navy to sealion? Either way it'd be awful given that the USSR now has your factories and keeps you from your own manpower.
The lack of manpower and inability to change the conscription law reminds me of my Japan game where I beat the Allies and Soviets then decide to take on the Axis. I let the game run while I was afk for two hours and when I came back, Spain joined the Axis and every tile where their army was exiled to became active and they encircled my front. I was not very happy. Also, I didn’t have anyone to pilot my jet fighters, so I also lost the air
I personaly think that a 1939 start as Germany is way better than a 1936 because I always get carried away and start WW2 too late in 1936. Plus I get like 100k casualties at most after taking all of mainland Europe except the Soviet Union, Finland and Sweden in 1939
