Liberal with it's use of atomic weapons such as in one of my games as the French Authority I made the mistake of calling America into the liberation of France and they decided to carpet nuke half the country including Paris despite France not having nuclear weapons themselves or really posing any threat to America at all, I suppose this behaviour does make sense if MacArthur becomes president because he just kinda thought nukes were really big bombs rather than something that can wipe out the human race, but the whole France thing happened when the Ai elected Dewey who would presumably be more cautious. Frankly it's quite amusing

I'd never picked up HoI4 before (though I'm a longtime Crusader Kings addict) and I've been having a good time though the learning curve is much steeper than I'd figured. I have a much higher appreciation for what you do now!
Yeah, this summer I bought the game for some friends of mine. My biggest warning to them (they were excited to flex their strategic muscle) was that this game doesn't have a learning curve. It's a learning suicide cliff.
Hearts of Iron 4's learning curve has dramatically picked up since the early days of its release. I bought the game shortly after Together for Victory was released and the game was a much simpler beast back then. The learning curve was a curve and a relatively moderate one at that. Trying to learn the game nowadays, and especially as guides can get confusing if you don't have the DLCs, or just some of them, I can see how the learning curve has turned into a learning right-angle going straight up.
I wish I still had that dumpster fire of a savegame in kaiserreich where I played as CSA with Canada intervention into the 2ACW. I dropped the game being completely surrounded by other contenders and Canada, completely cut off from water and I controlled like Chicago, Detroit and some other smaller cities. Yet I managed to hold up that circle defense for a pretty long time but it was unwinnable at that point
Worst disaster game I ever had was an rt56 game as Austria, managed to all but remake the Empire, had all but capitulated USSR by myself (germany couldn't seem to just take Leningrad and seal the deal). Helped Italy who was constantly getting naval invaded, helped defend french territory. It all went tits up because I was stretched thin in Russia, trying to hold in france and italy, and then I glance back to see Italy failed to defend albania and the UK has marched through all of Yugo and I had no divisions to send.

Rambler should have rambler's better tactic corner, where if you fail the disaster save game, you can see how other people fixed it, not to in depth, but a reasonable amount
