We’re taking three cheap Porsches on a 1000 mile trip from the UK, through France, Belgium and Germany, battling through horrendous weather and stopping for some track laps too. Joining us is AutoAlex in his 200,000 mile Porsche 911 993, Jack and Ethan from All the Gear in their £1500 supercharged Porsche 924, and we’re in our £5000 Porsche 911 that we pulled out of a scrapyard and rebuilt for as cheap as possible just a few months ago.

As other Porschephiles have commented, the R clip was missing from the caliper pin, allowing it to rattle out. The appropriate roadside fix would be to substitute a paper clip, or a small key ring, or anything else you can find of that ilk to prevent losing the caliper pin completely, which would be a much bigger headache to solve.

Fr they got it on the road way quicker than I expected, thought i was a way to big of a project but nah. Alex would have bought 3 more cars just to not have to work on this one.

That museum with the planes actually has very many cool cars inside. F40, Muira, SLS, Le Mans winning cars, land speed record holder, Lancia 037, that 6 wheeled F1 car, etc.. happened upon it by accident too
On the Calliper pins, there should be a hole for a R clip to stop them from falling out 👍 So either someone didnt put it back in there, or it fell/broke off. Used to work on Porsches 😄
They only have 2 states…. Stuck or missing 😂😂

Not taking a jack for a car you just built is wild lmao. Especially when it’s not exactly too hard to fit in the car. It probably has its own space for it.
I mean, not having a jack in a car in general is wild... This car comes from an era when you'd have a spare wheel. What happened to the OEM jack, wrench, etc.?
@@jondasek it all fits into the frunk, with the kit inside the spacesaver, so I'm somewhat assuming it has been taken out or (again, somehow) they didn't know that
The wing looks shite, NGL. Put the original one on! Car is amazing, just needs putting back together nicely now! Wicked car.
Mayo in the oil filler is normal on these, The filler cap end is a long way from the engine and is much cooler, hence moisture condenses here and creates the mayo.
Not really… my 996 started doing that really badly and it’s a head gasket or cracked cylinder head

It's 100% normal especially in that weather on long hot engine run ... Head gasket issue or blocked breather your get mayo in the header tank then it's panic stations 😂@@Cant_Frag

The Technik Museum Sinsheim, and it's sibling, the Technik Museum Speyer, sure are worth a visit in the future. Planes, trains, boats, and cars, lots of cars!
Mayo in the Porsche oil pour pipe is normal.
Just enjoy.
Yeah, the engine has a lot of surface area on the inside which generates lots of condensation overnight. This makes mayonnaise when the car is driven. To get rid, just wipe it out with a cloth and run the car regularly and store in a heated garage. Or just ignore it.

“all 911s are designed to be driven like how your wife should be loved, Regular and Vigorous.”
I can’t afford a wife but followed the advice. The car has none of the widely discussed issues. And no need for heated garage.

I feel bad for you that you didn't visit the Technik Museum in Sinsheim. Apart from the Concorde and the other planes (you can even access the inside of them!), there are a lot of great cars from F40 to 300SL Gullwing, classic BMWs, Porsches and God knows what. Maybe next time :)
As others have said, you need the split pin through the caliper pin to stop it sliding out. Even a bent paperclip will do for a short while!

As an English born ASML engineer based in San Diego (for 22 years), the commute from Eindhoven past Hockenheim, Sinsheim etc to Ditzingen (Trumpf laser) and Oberkochen (Zeiss) are seared in memory. Waldlaubersheim Mickey D's perfectly located to refuel. 2011, pegged at 185 in a Dutch registered Golf (sounded like it was about to blow any second) damn near tailgating a Lexus SUV in the fast lane with some vein popping teutonic git in an Audi on my arse w/indicator flashing losing his mind . . . Priceless. England 1 Germany 0. Suck it Fritz!

Oh Wow you guys came close to where i live! The Sinsheim Vehicle Musuem is a really cool place ive been there a few times even been in the concord since you can walk up there
The Stag in the background during the sponsor segment was really nice to see! Dad used to have one that was engine swapped with a V8 from a Leyland P76, always thought I was the coolest getting dropped at school in it (When or if we eventually got to School 😅)
