His songs go straight to the center of my soul - his music uncomplicated but brilliant - and utterly perfect with his gentle lyrics and soft, reverent performances. He is truly a rare gem.
In 2001, I left my home in Southern TN and went to southeastern NC to help take of my mother who was dying of cancer. Thankfully, I was able to stay the 4 months before her passing while my siblings took turns coming to assist. My sister who is 10 years younger than I would drive up from south Florida as often as she could. This song made me cry for I could imagine her asking God to let her hold our mother one more time. Mama left us to go and sing with the angels on August 6th 2001. My husband and I brought my dad to our home in TN and I took care of him until he died in 2007- aged 94. Now, I am 83- older than Mama was when she died. I find myself wanting to talk to my mama about health issues and other problems- seems we gals never outgrow a need to talk with our mama. This song makes me cry but I love it!

I heard "Children of the Living God" the other day and like it so much I looked it up and found Fernando Ortega's video and they are all just wonderful. They give me pause to think about God. Fenando's lyrics lead me closer to Him and they also give me peace.
I don't understand why there aren't millions of views on these wonderful videos. I hope he is still making music and praising God.
No other artist's music touches my soul like Fernando's. His music is annointed in a special way that is different than most music I have ever experienced. I hope his house is on the same street as mine in heaven.

I feel the exact same way. I guess we'll be neighbors :) I was at a church concert of Fernando's and he was standing next to me singing during the congregational part. It was so funny to think that I thought I would have to wait until heaven for that to happen and it was happening right then. Still looking forward to heaven too.. :)
