She says that The Gaither Homecomings have been held here in The U.S.A. in several places, and in many places worldwide, why not for The First Nations, The Original Peoples(a.k.a. Native American Indians)? The Lord God Almighty HIMSELF created my wife’s people in HIS image, and The Lord Jesus Christ WILLINGLY laid down HIS life for them also.

I remember hearing Don sing this song when I was a child. It's stayed with me ever since. As an adult I feel the Holy Spirit and it brings me to tears every time I hear it. Praise God for Jesus! If not for Jesus we would be so lost. Thank you Lord Jesus! I love you so very much! ❤
Way we did it in the 70s! Fun fact, his father, Clyde, was professor at Golden Gate Baptist Seminary for decades, Old Testament I may recall, who preached his last sermon, sat down in the pulpit chair, and died. As an old Texas Baptist preacher, that's how I want to go!

My church did an Easter musical about 15 years ago. It was a scripted drama. I played the part of Peter. Although "He's Alive" was not one of the songs in the musical, I suggested using it as the finale. So I sang it as a solo. We had a set on the stage, and I traveled from point to point of the set as I sang. Wow, that's one long song! And I had to sing it from memory. But I got through it. And for dramatic effect, when the song reached the closing chorus of "He's alive! He's alive! He's alive and I'm forgiven, heaven's gates are open wide!", I had the choir enter from the back down the three aisles, joining me in that chorus. It was really powerful. Brought down the house. No, *I* did not bring down the house, God did.

The song was released on Don’s 1977 recording called Forgiven. In 1980, he was named Songwriter of the Year along with “He’s Alive” as Song of the Year at the Dove Awards.

We were at the Gaither concert in Pittsburgh when Bill introduced Don Francisco and he sang this song for the first time that we had heard it. There was such a Spirit in that place.....the hair stood up on your arms and people began to worship God and cry.

This song has taken on deeper meaning since I've been watching the Chosen. The series puts a face on Peter, tells a plausible version of his backstory, and develops his character so well that I can see him so much better in this song.

It's so easy to lose your faith these days. Between fighting a war and going through a divorce I lost my faith over a decade ago. I'm just now finally finding my way back over the past few months. He really is the good shepherd, I'm sure He's chasing after you right now just as He was me. When He finds you I hope you can put aside your pride and shame and let Him welcome you home as he has me. Praying you find your way back. My path sounds similar to yours. I questioned everything I had been taught to believe and ran from it. I had my own path to follow. I achieved so much success and all it lead me to was emptiness. One night in despair and loneliness I asked God for help. Don Francisco has been a mainstay of Christian folk for decades. I haven't found a Gaither album with this on it, but that doesn't mean there isn't one. However, if you love this song, I would recommend Don's "The Early Works" album. It's one of my all-time favorites. Absolutely spirit-raising.

God is an incredible God and his anointing was captured on this video recording and never faded with time! So don't think this music doesn't touch young people or younger people. It reached me. 🙂
