@TheNormies Roy explained why he broke up with Keeley in 2nd episode in his speech about Chelsea. he was scared she's becomming the girlboss so he dumped her before she would become "too good for him". As we have seen, however, he only made her feel alone and she made mistakes bcs of that.
Roy broke up with Keeley because of his own insecurities. He felt he wasn't good enough for her, they elude to this many times throughout the season. Of course, he makes excuses and says that they're too busy because he's Roy and doesnt like expressing his vulnerabilities.
They didn't show Nate quitting so you could assume he got fired and then have the experience of that reversal. True storytelling doesn't occur on the screen, it happens inside your brain. For me, that surprise lends more impact to this course correction away from his desire for approval from authority figures. You suddenly realize he made a personal choice about who he wanted to be instead of facing a consequence and now the character feels more alive because your assumptions were contradicted... whereas a big quitting scene would feel like "on rails" character progression, ticking off a box on a list of things that need to happen. I like him but lately it got noticable in my opinion that he lets popular discourse fuel his opinion. Like I hear UA-cam essays from him or maybe I’m just too used to it now that I keep hearing such takes from friends who I know never talked like a certain way and come off like UA-cam essays on why a plot or story is bad. Hint if it’s produced it’s less likely in one viewing you noticed all the flaws of a show that 40 people penciled over who have degrees in writing and more likely we as viewers are getting a bit jaded and want perfection from a narrative or something unique but if you really look it’s not necessary to view things this way. The show doesn’t need to follow the trope of wrapping up all beats act 3 or so on. Amature writers follow templets but many go outside the lines and you can still enjoy it once you chew on more shows. Ie people how say always show don’t tell as a law when it’s a nice suggestion. In my opinion thou and I still think he and crew are great it’s more just reminding me of pals I know and online Reddit fan post that are critical of stuff these days but not actually reviewing.
@@abdulsalamibrahim3354 Yeah no doubt i hope he doesnt take criticism to heart and I think he does take it in stride as he jokes about it but gets a bit sad on reactions lol but he knows we'd rather he just say if he really doesn't like something, my fear is if he is getting manipulated by the youtube space where tons of critics are saying this is bad this is bad etc and they're not all good actors and just in it to get paid from negativity trend...even if they seem genuine if you read between the lines most criticism can work for any show aka (most of them say, bad pacing, bad character arc, character assassination, poor writing, lazy writing, plot armor etc without really saying anything as well as some critic on an established website. Fair enough though everyone's entitled to opinions and to listen to them.
I think losing Nate really hit Rupert where he lives. Remember, Rupert didn't put down or dismiss Nate, Nate realised Rupert was no good and left and the way he left left little room to doubt that. Rupert is not only left alone with no protege, but also someone who looked up to him actively thinking he's pathetic, and it's rocked him. So whilst I definitely think Rebecca's invitation and Akufu's willingness to have her at the table WAS to do with having diversity there, I think Rupert's question on what she thinks is genuine; he's finally realised he might have thrown away something great, far greater than he maybe deserves. And her speech... god her speech; it's my favourite moment in the whole of Ted Lasso, and it's climax shows Rupert exactly WHY he loves Richmond. Not because it makes money or as a symbol of status or power, but because it's the team he loved to watch as a child. And he sees that Rebecca sees that. And just like that, Rebecca is to him a way to salve his broken ego, to feel like he might be someone the boy from the story might want to be, who Nate might want to be... and she rejects him, and rightly so. Because he isn't the hero of the boy in the story, he's not who that boy wanted to be. He's an old man who spent his life stealing and betraying others around him to feel tall, and no moment of catharsis and no childhood dream can erase what he's spent his life doing. And you can see the weight that he truly realises he doesn't deserve Rebecca land squarely on his shoulders when she walks away. It's a complex arc, but to simplify it: Rupert has spent his entire life trying to impose and dominate others to prove to himself he's not that little working class kid who got booted out of his favourite team's ground and generally had no power at all. To do that he's hurt hundreds of people, cheated on the women in his life and encouraged others to behave ruthlessly in order to reinforce his idea that it's what gives a man value. Ted Lasso himself and his entire philosophy is a direct contrast to this 'survival of the fittest' mindset, and Rupert is finally realising his way of life just doesn't work out in his favor. And it's eating him up inside.
Occasionally he surprises, but mostly yeah, you have to question, unless he's being contrary on purpose. If I was in that friend group, I would have been sick of him long ago.
I have tried time and again to believe there is something more beneath Pat's surface than he shows the camera. Or, perhaps, he is just playing a deep character as a mockery of all the misogynistic, clueless, tone deaf things he says. Everyone on the couch has some empathy and depth to their takes, except Pat. He openly mocks characters that show emotional growth and depth, praises the villains and bullies, excuses horrible behavior for anyone with power or money. He seems to loathe kindness and revere base behavior. I do not know the man, so I do not wish to judge him based on a few videos. I do truly hope that he is faking his nature or that he gets the professional help he desperately needs to curb his very jaded and small-minded perspective on society. If what he presents on camera is genuine, I have no idea how anyone else in their company can stand it.
This was a great episode for so many story lines and the redemption of Nate. I don't think seeing Nate leaving is a big deal. I think he probably just left a letter or message. I don't there there would have been a confrontation in person. Nate would have just wanted to end it. He's not angry or sorry and just needed to move on. I loved Danni's change to Cartel Danni. He was so gangsta. Roy and Keeley hooking up was great. Keeley's turn on of a vulnerable Roy was too much and she needed him now! Great that Jamie wore Sam's number. Lots of great moments. Roy was the one that ran away from Keeley. Roy wanted to go away with her for th 6 month vacation but Keeley needed to work and told him to go off on his own. It's just that they drifted apart and Roy didn't think he deserved Keeley anymore.
Keeley's low point was at the beginning of the series. She realized during the charity auction that ten years ago, she was a young girl dating 23-year-old footballers, and now she's 30 and still doing it. It was a series of dumb party boys with no accountability, and she was stagnant. She was a famous model at 20. At 30, she was famous for "almost being famous," in her words. Her arc was that she decided she was worth more than she let herself believe. She realized it early on. Roy and Nate realized it much later, so it looks more like they had arcs, but hers was just as real.
A theory I fully get behind is Rupert wanted Rebecca in the meeting because he knew she'd be against it, & help stop it. He didn't trust himself not to be pulled in by the money, so she was his backup to keep him in check, too.
Suraj going off with the anti-White hate. The club owners in England, France and Germany DID choose not to make more money, and put the Super League idea in the bin!
@@DelusionalNYC He might have some little good quality in him that they see that we don't off camera, I assume. But that idiot dumb immature high school jock attitude of his and all his dumb takes on things that we see on camera, that's all him. I guess they've known each other for a long time or some of them have been childhood friends with him that they got used to it or have some kind of immune tolerance towards his attitude. I've followed their channel for 7 years now and he's been like that ever since I've remembered. There are a few moments in their older reactions that other members of the crew actually got annoyed by him. Most of those times they wouldn't say anything back to him and trying to be nice in front of the camera, not to humiliate him further or escalate the situation by having an endless argument with the dumb guy, but we can easily tell that they're actually annoyed with him from their expression. Marketa had a moment where she was really frustrated that he keeps cutting her off every time while she was trying to explain something to him that his idiotic brain couldn't understand that she actually raised her voice in a tempered manner and told him to shut up and let her finish what she's trying to say. So, yeah, I do have that same question cause for me, he's not the type of person that I would be associating with IRL.
The justification for nothing happening between Rebecca and Rupert being “he is married with a kid” it’s so outrageous 😂😂 it’s like after saying Rebecca has the best arc, that she wouldn’t know better and would for some absurd reason want anything to do with him still… oh you guys…
My thought on Rupert in this episode is that he’s internally dealing with some sort of serious health issue, which is why he seems a bit off from his normal Emperor Palpatine self.
I don't know how yall do it, but you make me angry with your commentary more and more every episode of Ted Lasso. I started out loving yall cause yall were so different from other reactors. I even became a patron. Now all your comments are just annoying. It's like you aren't truly capturing the essence of the show. I hope the next two reactions are better than these past few.
I think us les that and more the disconnect between understanding different aspects of the sport that makes it hard to comprehend those scenes. As well as they watch a lot of confusing our mind bending shows and they over analyze some of the simpler moments so they go into it expecting something different
I am glad I'm not the only one. It's so frustrating. I like their reactions to a lot of other content but I don't know where the disconnect in what this show is lies, but clearly their tastes and expectations are different. Also like 2 seconds in and another whiff from Pat...literally no soul on earth has asked "what about Isaac" when the show OPENS with the clip of the talking heads saying Sam will be getting the nod, then it focuses on him and the team noticing that he's not made it...and yet here comes Pat with contrarian commentary 101...
Had to stop watching halfway cause I was so annoyed at you guys missing the point of everything. Are you sure you’re watching the same show? Don’t know if y’all read these or care so *shrugs*
Funny to me how judgmental you guys tend to be about the story telling choices(i.e. not showing Nate quitting), when one of the EARLIEST lessons and quotes from this show when Ted was schooling Rupert in darts all the way back in S1, and Ted quotes Walt Whitman. "Be curious, not judgmental." You guys are doing a lot of "WHY DIDNT THEY DO THIS? OR SHOW THAT? THEY SHOULDVE DONE THIS--" instead of asking "WHY didn't they show that? What are they saying by NOT showing us?" Its not an oversight by the writers or editors. Its by design. There's a reason for it. Just some food for thought.
These reactions have really shown the flaws in this group as a whole when it comes to how they think about relationships, power, money, plot logic, and literally everything else. Maybe they have shared experiences from their friendship or some cultural views that shape their reactions, but I've never seen reactions that are so out of touch with the show and with the channel's audience. Pat needs to be sent to therapy, preferably with a female therapist, to sort out his incredibly long list of issues. He is either a rotten guy with predatory instincts who has done or will do very bad things, or he's a decent guy with some terrible baggage that needs to be dealt with. Either way, he needs professional help to sort out his views of the world around him and the people in it. He is fundamentally out-of-whack in frightening ways.
“What happened between them?” It’s like you guys haven’t watched the show!!!! They say so many times that HE broke up with her. And then Rebecca tells him off for not believing he deserves good things… and you’re asking what happened???? Jezz
man.. i cant remember the last time i actually laughed at this show.... it was such a funny 30min show about football with great plot... now its not fun, never ending episodes, almost no football, all plots are created and solve instantly... i mean we barely see Ted anymore Am i the only one?
Roy broke up with Kellie because she suggested they take a break. Roy is growing as a person and his style is displaying that. Growing out his comfort zone to the small things one wearing tie dye shirts. But most importantly being able to express himself. Ted Lasso has an extremely optimistic look at humanity, and for us Americans, it’s a little hard to see it, our corny sensors go off, and the one thing we hate is corny. But it is important to remember this show has sworn off cynicism. Nate quitting isn’t important, Nate has been licking Rupert’s boots all season. Season 2 Nate would have cheated. Him quitting was when he turned down Rupert’s offer and went back to the woman he loves.
Its crazy how this fanbase is so obsessed to defend every little thing this show gave us. Season 3 was an absolute hell of a show to watch. So much missed potential with rushed and unexplained plotpoints. And its clear why, just watch what a hell of a production they had during covid - its explained in various interviews. There were also only 2 seasons planned so they had to rewrite and create a lot of new stuff for season 2/3
This season did waaaay more telling than showing compared to the other two seasons. I feel like sometimes I saw more of the announcers on the talk show than some of the characters on the team. I *so* wanted to root for Nate's redemption arc but it was very rushed. (Not to mention his relationship; I get a bit about why Nate's into Jade but I have no idea about why she's into him.)
I wanted to stop watching your reactions around the middle of the second season because I was completely flabbergasted from how much you didn’t get it but then I thought third season would be better but somehow you managed to get worse. The fact that there are FOUR of you watching and still you ALL forget extremely important shit from the plot is insane! You expect some forgetfulness from a One reactor. But you guys manage to forget so many things and not ONE of you seems to be keeping track of stuff.
21:54 so roy broke up with keely bc he felt he wasn't good enough for her. the last ep of season 2 he tells the diamond dogs that she looks better on her own/ without him. also the ep where he goes back to chelsea he talks about how he left their before he wanted cause he was afraid of not being good enough to play there. so in that scene he's telling keely she's not at fault, the how being too busy to make to the relationship work was a lie. he was just afraid of her leaving him so he left 1st.

I like him because he’s honest unlike many reactors
How the fuck are people only having a problem now? These are literally some of the dumbest people on the platform
Doritos are just chips for Canadian Van Damme and Mexican Dani
Is Pat just there to annoy everyone?
Nobody can figure out why Pat is there.
@HeyFrank Exactly! Well said.
He’s the best one. they’re all cool minus the fake laugh from we know who
This was a great episode for so many story lines and the redemption of Nate.
The club owners in England, France and Germany DID choose not to make more money, and put the Super League idea in the bin!
what the hell is that in pats ear lol
Suraj, we did indeed see a Ted/Nate confrontation. It was at the end of S2, when Ted asked Nate what he did to make Nate so angry.
yep its call Captain Tsubasa, and you totally should watch the 80's versions.
Why does Danny act this way in international play when he doesn't when playing for Richmond?:
Nationalism is one hell of a drug.
“Don’t say no to a billionaire.”
This mf needs help
pat what on earth is that hanging from your ear😂😂
Ranny Dojas was the best. 🤣
Does Pat have to play this character? Its lazy. Do better.
No, that's really who he is.
@@patrickwinter428how are they friends with him off-camera if Pat is really like this IRL?
Pat thinks it was just fine for Danny to crush the chips because they're enemies. 😞
They misinterpret every scene so much lol
they are so freaking NEGATIVE all the time
Sad, but true. The wrong 4 for this show , just a bad combination. No emotions during emotional moments and the breakdowns are trash. No disrespect
3:35 Wouldn't Tokyo treats be "across the pond" on the West side 🤔?
Just the beginning of getting things wrong this episode 😂
Had to stop watching halfway cause I was so annoyed at you guys missing the point of everything. Are you sure you’re watching the same show? Don’t know if y’all read these or care so *shrugs*
Do Pat and Suraj have any confirmed relationships? Seems like they've never interacted with a woman outside of work.
Actually, a super league was in the works not too long ago, but it never came to be. Which is really surprising, considering how greedy FIFA is.
“What happened between them?”
It’s like you guys haven’t watched the show!!!! They say so many times that HE broke up with her. And then Rebecca tells him off for not believing he deserves good things… and you’re asking what happened????
Jezz
man.. i cant remember the last time i actually laughed at this show.... it was such a funny 30min show about football with great plot... now its not fun, never ending episodes, almost no football, all plots are created and solve instantly... i mean we barely see Ted anymore
Am i the only one?
Ranni Dojas!!
evil dani rojas...otherwise known as RANI DOJAS
That's a cute top Navi.
Pat. C’mon man.
Roys Sister is fit and phoebes Dad must be an albino.
Scary Dani Rojas > Led Tasso
Too much of this last season happened offscreen in general.
21:04 - How is it relevant that those rich men were white?
