Great video Steve! I also did a video on a couple of notebooks from Peter Pauper Press that I’ve found at Indigo Bookstores here in Canada. Maybe they can be found at Barnes and Noble and other bookstores in US. They are also great for fountain pens. No ghosting, no feathering, no bleed through. Not smooth like Clairfontaine and certainly not smooth like Tomoe River, but a great feeling if you like the feedback when you write. And they have gorgeous hardcover designs. Totally agree with you on those.

@@MirnasCalmJoys Mina!! Wonderful to hear from you! You know, Peter Pauper was my first notebook waaayy back in the 1980’s. I still use them when the mood strikes me. Thanks so much for chiming in!

@JournalingwithSteve Oh wow, that was the year of my birth! I love their cover designs for notebooks.

Excellent video Steve. You put a lot of work into this! I don't like buttery soft paper: I need a slight feedback. So I'm not a big fan of Clairfontaine and Rhodia. I love Leuchtthurm1917- 80gsm.

Thank you Draco! Have you ever tried the Leuchtturm A4 Master with 100 GSM paper? I find the 80 GSM ghosts too much for my liking. It’s too bad, because that was my journal of choice for decades. I still use the A4 often, at least weekly for longer journaling sessions. I do use the 80 GSM notebooks, but only with my 823 fine nib. Then the ghosting is manageable, even pleasant.

@@JournalingwithSteve I never used the Leuchtturm A4 Master -100gsm. Will certainly try it. One can never know too much. Thank you Steve.

LT1917 does make a 120 gsm A5 notebook for Bullet Journal. I hated it with a vengeance, but then, I do not mind ghosting at all. But you might like it, though, given your dislike of ghosting.

Same. Love LT1917, but can not stand the glass like surface of Rhodia, Clairefontaine or Oxford. I have zero problem with ghosting and right now, even use a 48 gsm Tomoe River notebook, which I love.

@ yeah…my glassy surface use is more out of necessity than joy. They help me write with a lighter touch when my hands are in a lot of pain. Can’t wait to try that 48 GSM!

A few thoughts, please be warned, I am fairly blunt and often sound harsher than I mean to
    - The pronounciation of Montblanc is with the T and the C silent... Monblan
    - There a heaps of new notebooks with the new Sanzen TRP in 52 gsm, like Sterling ink, Papertess, Nanami Paper and others. Hobonichi uses even 48 gsm STRP
    - A big part of ghosting is the nib size and if the nib is wet or dry writing and the if the ink is wet or dry. E.g., Pelikan nibs are all extremly wet, even the F and EF nib sizes, while Pelikan ink is dry. Pairing a Pelikan B with a wet ink is not for the faint of heart and paper
Extremely nice video! You asked for the favourite ink colour. Blue, since a couple of years now, but I have gone through a brown and a green phase, when I was young. Right now I am using TWSBI Midnight, Diamine Skull & Roses and Ink Institut Affluent Dragon.

@@MsJacobowski thank you so much!! I sincerely appreciate direct/blunt speech, and eagerly receive correction. Can’t wait to try out the new lesson on Montblanc pronunciation. Shoot, I just got done shooting another video with a mispronunciation. I’ll note that in the comments or something.
I haven’t had the pleasure of owning Montblanc or Pelikan pens yet, but both are on my dream list.
I manage ghosting in my LT1917 80 GSM notebooks by using EF or Fine nibs and dryer inks, but it still ghosts more than I prefer. I do like some ghosting, by the way. I think it adds character. I’ll always be an LT1917 fanboy though.
The inks you named are lovely. I’ll have to try them.

Ha,ha! 😂 I just saw I've spelt it wrong, so we are on par. 😁 And thanks for not being offended. 😉
TWSBI Midnight is just a dark blue. It doesn't look like much until on STRP, then one can see a lovely red sheen. It is my everyday ink. TWSBI makes the most beautiful bottles. They come with the little insert, whose name I can't remember at the moment. It helps to fill the pen when the ink is nearly used up.
The Diamine Skull & Roses is just a heavy sheener that takes forever to dry. And I bought the Affluent Dragon because it is the year of the dragon, hence the limited edition of this ink and I was born in a dragon year. It has a shimmer and really looks very nice, but requires a broader nib so the shimmer won't clog the feed. This is why I only use it in my positivity/gratitude journal.

@@MsJacobowski so much fun to find favorite inks to use in specific applications. I also enjoy bright, colorful inks for my gratitude journal. I haven’t yet tried any shimmer, but I’d love to.
Oh, I wanted to thank you again for the Montblanc pronunciation. “Younglish” (which is a primary resource for voice actors looking for a pronunciation of words) has it as Mont Blank, so I thought I’d approached it properly. But what I hadn’t considered was the country of origin. Grrrrr.

      @JournalingwithSteve
That's just the thing. Company is German, name's pronounced French. There is French guy on youtube who does pronounciations: Julien Miquel #FrenchWithJulien
Regarding the shimmering inks, I don't think, I would buy another. I have fun with looking at it at different angles or in different lighting, but the constant shaking or rolling of the pen to keep the shimmer from pooling is too much of a hassle for longer texts for me. I can afford to keep it in my approx. forty year old el cheapo Pelikan M150, because I do use my newer fountain pens more often. It is nicevto have it around for special texts, though. They say cleaning out shimmer inks is a royal PITA, but I haven't to yet.
Off I go, in search of another of your videos. Have a wonderful holiday week! May you and your loved ones enjoy it in good health!

I wouldn't say that. It is a planner with a second part consisting of 360something graph pages. If I buy a LT1917 planner and a notebook, I pay the same, but don't have the STRP as well as fewer pages.

Actually...I'm gonna have to backpedal. Depending on the model, the Hobonichi Techo can offer a really good value. I'll break that down in my next video; which I'll be putting up in a few minutes.
