I was lucky to have gotten to be taken up in this model by an air traffic controller friend I knew back in the early 90s. He even let my take the controls for a few minutes. Really is a nice little plane. Thanks for sharing this. :)
Flew this airplane while working on my instrument rating back in 1981. Fun to fly, and a nice change of pace from the Piper Archer I had flown for my previous training.
Well, you've sold me another airplane! I had the Grumman tiger in fs9 and fsx. It wasn't nearly as good looking detailed as this one but I had fun with it. And as you mentioned its different from the Cessna's and Piper's that we have in our collections. Refreshing! Thanks for this great video that has caused me to buy yet another plane🙂
Thanks for your review AvAngel! I saw this just got updated to v1.1 so I bought it. Lots of nice fixes. Tail geometry is now changed to flatter (as you noticed), pad can be hidden etc., lots of system fixes/additions. It is a lovely little plane. I will fly it a lot. The sound level doesn't change when the canopy is open, so there is still room for a v1.2 update 🙂but the author should be applauded for a making a lovely little aircraft and putting out a fast update.
Something a bit different in the GA category! It does seem to have a bit of character. And a thumbs up from you is a great recommendation for me - I'll have to check this one out. Thank you!
This was the first general avaition airplane I rolled. It was a blast. This has brought back some great memories...thanks! Got to put this in my hanger for sure!
Thanks for the review. I had made a quiet promise to hold off buying add ons until the 2024 release but I am now throwing caution to the wind with these new GA singles being released. Growing up in a Piper family I always look longingly at Grummans and Beechcrafts. Thanks again, -Mike
The tail is a mod you can buy for original Tigers that fares the beacon in. It is also on the "new" Tigers built in the 90's to early 2000's. I learned to fly in Travelers and Tigers and absolutely love them. As an A&P mechanic they are also easy to work on for the most part. The textures seem smooth as there are very few rivets as it is an aluminums honeycomb structure glued together. Great all around plane.
There's tough competition in the small GA category already, but this one seems to be much better than anticipated. The sounds are selling it for me. Thanks for the nice review 😊
Nice. After rediscovering the Scottish Aviation Bulldog recently, I have been thinking how much I like a sliding canopy and the added visibility it offers. I'm trying to not buy any more add ons before FS2024 comes out but this may have to go on my wishlist.
Wow, better than I expected! Regarding the tail, I found some pictures of D-ELHY that seem to show a similarly rounded top of the tail, so probably accurate. I have become of fan of cockpit vibrations, mainly from FlyInside and Taog's helicopters. The FSW C24 Sierra has not really convinced me yet, especially for the price. This one seems very nice, might become part of my already very full GA hangar :)
Great review, as always! Thank you! I was a fan of this one in FSX. At any rate, it's a definite must-buy for me. It's one of the very few Grumman's with no tail-hook. Those remind me too much of earwigs. :-) Still hoping someone will do a vintage Tri-Pacer, too! Perhaps it's being saved for FS2024?
I roll them fast when I'm doing a video becaus I don't want to take forever... so yeah, I might skip a step or remember what I have the thing set to or tap the physical control to know where it is. :D saves time.
Very well modeled plane, the cockpit is almost photorealistic. I'm wary of the 8K textures though, don't know how it will work on Xbox once it's released. The Sierra had problems.
There is a Tiger available for Xplane 11 so a fair bit newer than FS9 but yes the more popular aircraft always get done first because of how well they are known.
Never flown one in RL but it was conidered to be slightly better in speed compared to a Cessna 172 and more manovrable (the Cessna and Piper, that I have flown, are really heavy on controls, like flying brick). The Tiger was more slippery. Only minus the not great appealing look and lack of height for the passegner in the back seat. The sliding canopy is a beatiful choice in hot clima.
Seeing your review first thing in the morning gets my day off to a good start. Thank you.
My first thought on seeing this "It's Grrrrrreat!" (Tony Tiger for the younger audience here! 😂).
hope you don't get a Frosty reception....
@@stephensmith1118 Well played!

I got to fly an older variety of the tiger many years ago. Was such an awesome experience.

Another great video, I've some hours logged flying a real one, look forward to your next review

Then a well made plane in the sim!

To me, its the unique angle that keeps it for me.
And that soggy straw analogy is just great! 😂
Thank you for another informative appraisal.... What a lovely aircraft, it seems to tick most boxes, with a sensible price and download size.(

@@AvAngel Seems like BRSim released an update today that modified the vertical stabilizer.

I live on that island. A friend of mine owns a Grumman Tiger and flys out of that airport. Slightly different paint job though.
Awesome ☺️

Actually flown one of these from Shoreham Airport in Sussex
How did you get the tablet to show, I can't seem to find it in mine.

Seems to be a nice little plane.
Hi @AvAngel.
Thanks for your videos. Really like your style. 😊
May I inquire which eye tracking system you're using for MSFS?
Best regards
Archer
Head tracking, I use the grass monkey simulations puck
thanks ❤

14:50 pretty sure that panel should be closed lol
Looks like my bags fell in the drink during that first left turn. 😅
Me sitting here screaming CLOSE THE CARGO DOOR!!!!
Shush
@@AvAngel 🤣
Great video as usual. Question, when you buy these planes does scenery come with the planes or is the scenery standard fs 2024?
The scenery I in the description; Orbx's Orcas Island. This is FS 2020 also :)
Does this have custom Audio? It sounds kind of like the RV-8
I think it does, but many ga types sound similar to me
I wonder how it flies with the door closed?
considerably faster... if they modeled that... which I'm pretty sure they didn't.
Is it, or will it be available on Xbox?
Not sure
name of the airport?
Description… orbxs orcas island
maybe a little pipefish…
maybe a little piperish
it looks a bit Cessna like…..
so your a Tiger Girl....
Horendous livery! Eww! I love the Gruman but not the panel graphics.
