It's not necessary to go through the maze part you can ride the elevator all the way to the top. You gotta throw your hat. Hold it in place. Back flip onto the elevator shake your controller and ride to the top. You can also skip pretty much all over the area after glydon straight to bowser. Just shake your controller midway through the first tornado and keep shaking it, if you do it right you'll glide right to bowser.
I've died 4 times due to my carelessness during my first playthrough of that infamous stage that even Atrocious Gameplay Wiki mentioned in their own article. It's no doubt not only one of the hardest levels of the game, but also the longest level ever of the game with no checkpoints. But once you know the gimmicks of certain areas, keeping the Life Up Heart as long as possible(Since there's 2 in that level), getting the heart to restore your health, & keeping your skills in check, you're gonna make it. Still it can kick my ass even though it's not as infamous as Perfect Run of Galaxy 2, Special 8-Crown of 3D Land, and Champion's Road of 3D World.
After personally getting through that level, I can say it is extremely difficult, but there isn't much of a jump to doing it all again with no damage, just a lot more tries.

There's a section you can skip without glitches. Fly into the tornado with flygon and waggle the joycon. Keep waggling it like crazy, and you can skip the icy section and go straight to the bowser painting.

True. Tbh, Darker side isn't inherently hard, what makes it hard is that there are just a few tough sections in a massive easy level. Its an endurance test more than anything really.
I've been stuck on the moving platform when the spiky colored goombas an sonic disrupter level I just kept slinging my cap an the sonic rings activated an caused serious mayhem It didn't even cross my mind to just wait n line up my shots with enemies thanks IMA apply your format hopefully beat the Darker Side of the Moon oh yeah the spike woodpecker moving platform looks pretty tough also ...
If I knew the Pokio could stick into the rocks I wouldnt have skipped that part. That part was by far the worst part of the level bc no matter how much health you've got, if you fuck up you're dead.

Beating the darker side was one of the most frustrating yet rewarding challenges I've ever conquered. A superb final level in a near flawless game.
