    Hello,
Bought my Clio IV DCI in 2014.
    It’s now 2023, 202200 km.
Never had any problems as suggested.
    It consumes 1l./22 km.
Once had the battery renewed and my front brakes.
    No issues whatsoever.

Now 7.5 years old and nothing has been replaced ! Oh yeah i do an average of 3.9l/100km and i drive sporty. Its the most cheap car to drive and its reliable

the best reliable engine from this gen is 1.2 75hp 4 cylinder, it was placed in older gens and works perfectly fine even with LPG installed. It is pretty underpowered, still does its job- get you from A to B point. If you want faster car- get megan, or other model, even other brand car.

I have a 2013 90k mk4 0.9 tce. The cabin is noisy and the wind quite loud. I added those window visors that helped a lot. Brakes are rubbish and scary. Not had an issue with start but I don’t use stop start. AC not working has a leak. No engine temp gauge! Also there is a known issue with a leak in on the engine coolant a gasket seems to leak after a while. Small fuel tank. Apart from these minor things very happy with it.

Never had any problem you mentioned. Not saying they dont exists, but I'm not sure how common they are. Owned 2 Clio IV, for a total of 5 years now. No problem with any of them.
Electrics, are you sure it's more problem with Renaults than others, or you have just old information like everyone else? As in "Renault had alot of electronic problems 10-15 years ago so let's say they have it now too". No source I've found can prove this. Would love to see some facts.

Yeah I get tired listening to mates at work etc saying the electric issue thing, I’ve had five French cars Renault and Citroen without issues including electrical. Urban myths travel very very far. In my view it’s usually those who’ve no experience of the cars as drivers and want to reassure themselves their choice was best.

What about the air condition? I own a Clio 3 and the condenser breaks every 15 month or so, if I changed the oil by the book I should replace the condenser at every oil change and it is a costly replacement. I am considering buying a Clio4 but I have that condenser at the back of my head.

I have a Clio 3 RS, getting a Clio 4 DCi for daily, because, yeah economical and I don't speed all the time. Renault is pretty decent since the 2010's. they have upped the quality and a lot of "decent" brands have declined in quality making them equal bad or good. Still don't expect "made in Japan". I drove a Clio 4 Phase 1 1.2 16V for about 80tkm, no problems at all, just minor suspension repairs. MediaNav worked fine, was just a bit slow sometimes.
I bought a Clio 4 1.2 TCe a year ago and it has zero proplems until now (bought used with 33tkm, is not at 45tkm). It has the R-Link and everything works as expected, also just very little Oil consumption on mine. maybe 100-200ml since last oil change about 5-6000km ago - quite normal for a Turbo-Engine. (But its also a newer revision of the 1.2 TCe. The Old ones in the Phase 1 had bigger problems and is quite known for it. Renault said it is fixed on the newer ones. (Mine is a H5F-t 412)

about the touchscreen: you usually just need to press a bit harder be slower yourself. yes it's not the fastest, but it's not like it's unusable.

I just checked yesterday: it's pressure sensitive (probably because plastic screens scratch/bend, instead of break and producing glass shards in case of an accident).

7 years ago I bought my clio 4 with a 1.5 dci engine. It had around 110.000km on it when I bought it, and now 7 years later there's 313.000km on it. In 7 years and 200.000 km's of driving, I never had any problem with this car untill last month I had a warning on my display telling me to check the injection system. Happened to be the exhaust pressure sensor (or DPF sensor) which has 2 rubber hoses attached to it placed on the back of the engine. This happens on all 1.5 dci's over time. One of the 2 hoses burns and cracks, or the sensor dies. Most of the time it's the shorter hose. Its a pain to replace it, since you will have no visual of what you're doing, but still I did manage to fix it myself. Second problem was 2 weeks after the sensor replacement my clutch slave cylinder died. I replaced the master cylinder and hydraulic hose for new ones myself, and let a mechanic replace the slave cylinder and clutch. Now it drives perfectly again. It was still the original clutch meaning it held up 313.000km's. Thats insane. I really love this car, its reliable, it uses little fuel and I will keep on driving it as long as I can.

    • @madbadger85

No the diesel engine is bombproof, I nearly bought the 900cc petrol but read plenty of horror stories about them. My last clio was a diesel and my new one is. Most manufacturers now are all jumping on the small 3 cylinder turbo engines to cut emissions but they all have some problem or other, they are over stressed.

I’ve just bought a 2017 with 26000 miles on the clock (exMOD) 1.5 dci. It’s got non of the gizmos in it apart from aircon and cruise control, a very simple entertainment system no touch screen jobbi, so it must be a base model. Good that’s all I wanted, I did go for a 900cc version but I read a lot about the little turbo engines failing especially with timing chains. My last car was a Clio mk4 diesel, probably the best car I’ve ever owned and I owned it for 15 years!!!! I just hope this one will last that long.

    i use 2020 clio 0.9 joy. now it's nearly 25.000km.
1-there is no decrease oil or water.
2- brakes are weak. it comes bridgestone ecopia ep25 tyre. i don't recognize which one is guilty but brakes scares to mee, specialy with 5 passanger and full boot.
3- isolation is very weak. wind noise is okey but road sound to much. also bridgestone is total carbage tyre in terms of noise. clio still comfortable than fiat tipo diesel but not quite as fiesta 1.0.
4- interior plastics has very low quality but i don't care, this car is cheap. for example hyundai i20 expensive than clio but quality same as clio (maybe lower).
5- gear ratios too close. the car doesn't go anywhere in 1 and 2nd gear. 5th and last gear nearly start 70km and goes nearly 200km. nonsense.
despite everything, clio makes you love yourself. easy and fun to use.
