      Start with "worm castings" and just about anything green to get your areas microbes in a symbiotic relationship with the soil and roots . .
      Even weeds will do . .
      Pull'em strip their roots of all the good stuff n plant in its place . .
      Beans work great for this and grow ultra fast . .

    No not eight more years. Grafted trees are able to produce within a year or two. Seeds are a different story and you are going to wait a long time. Take care and buy grafted trees!

    No. This is in Coral Springs Florida. Many people in Southern California grow Mango trees. Be careful if temperatures drop in mid 35 - 40 degrees.

    Another question please man,
    Since i have re-potted my 80 cm mango plants 2 weeks ago i found out my soil mix would have been better if it contained some pumice which i only got it yesterday. Do you think i should transplant again adding the pumice to the mix (my actual soil mix is: 50 % peat moss + 50 % sand and forest floor mulch)?
    i am afraid transplanting again would give too much stress to them so what do you suggest?

    • @Pepesplants
      @Pepesplants  8 років тому +1

      Sorry did not get to your question sooner. The best thing is to leave the tree alone for now. Add the pumice when you transplant it to a new container. Growing in containers be careful to not over water and end up with wet feet and root rot. Take care!

    I have this tree in mines about 8 ft tall and I did get three mangoes last year they were around 3 lb pretty big. I was curious how this trees doing people call them a condo mango but these trees get huge like your video but you should do another video on this tree. There's not a lot out there on these trees. So if you could reply I would appreciate it and I bet a bunch of other people would also. Just curious to know how it's doing after 12 years

    • @Pepesplants
      @Pepesplants  10 місяців тому

      Sadly the lady sold the house and I have not returned to see how the tree is doing. Hopefully it's still on the property and thriving. The tree in the video is a Lancetilla and not considered a condo mango. They get pretty large and the fruit are huge also. For a condo mango you would want to try Ice Cream mango , Nam Doc Mai #4 or Pickering also the Cogshall and the famous Jamaican Julie mango. I do have a nice Nam Doc Mai # 4 at home planted in the ground and should have fruit and a video, this summer. Thanks.

    Hi, I planted a mango tree a few weeks ago. It was from a pot and did not have any visible roots circling so I assumed it was not pot bound. It did have roots growing out of the bottom of the pot that looked like they were dead (air prune) I did not cut them. Tree seems to be doing fine but I am worried as I did not cut Into the roots. Do you think this will be a problem?

    • @Pepesplants
      @Pepesplants  6 років тому

      Always good to cut them but if not circling you should be okay. Cutting the roots helps to produce more lateral root growth. Spreading them out also helps. "-)

      Thank you for your response. I have seen videos of people loosening roots up as there can be roots growing upwards. What if I was to dig up the tree and cut Into roots and then replant, would it be ok? I will have to wait roughly 12 months as I have planted it abroad at my family home and won't be there for a while.

    Hi, planted a grafted mango tree however the trunk seems to he crooked and I am worried that as the tree grows it will snap at the graft joint. Is that possible or will the trunk correct itself?

    • @Pepesplants

      If your graft has healed over and the mango is grafted properly it should be fine. Thanks for visiting my channel. :-)

      SO, WHEN U USE mycorrhizal FUNGI THING, U CAN NEVER WATER UR TREE USING TAP WATER? ONLY RAIN, LAKE OR TAP FILTERED WATER RIGHT

    • @Pepesplants
      @Pepesplants  7 років тому

      I would agree that the chemicals would be a problem. I would stay away from tap water. Not everyone can avoid tap water. Most nurseries use well water or water from a pond.

    • @kingdommusic5456
      @kingdommusic5456 2 роки тому

      or let the tap water sit in milk jugs under a tree / outside for a week( it will get a greenish tint) then you can use it thats what we do , and it works great .

    we have a mango tree in Florida but it gets brown leaves what do we do?

    • @Pepesplants
      @Pepesplants  7 років тому

      Brown leaves could be many different things. Are they brownish black? Sometimes it is anthracnose a fungal disease treated most often with copper or instead neem oil. Brown leaf tips are usually caused by salinity in the soil. Salt burn also from fertilizers. Introducing too much fertilizer increases soil salts. Insects can also cause leaves to turn brown as they feed on and damage the leaves. Keeping your trees to a manageable size 8 feet tall on average is a good idea. Smaller trees can be sprayed on a regular basis with neem oil and other organic pesticides and fungicides. see my web site for more information. Thanks for visiting my channel. www.pepesplants.com

    sorry to ask same question again man,
    is that mulch made of wood chips? i am asking as i just have got my mango plants and want to plant them. where can i find that in nature. if i don't can i use hay stack as a replacement?

  • @ehudjudges3238
    @ehudjudges3238 7 років тому +1

    I didn't plant my tree just like you but I think I did a good enough job. The problem I am having is that some of the leaves are getting holes in them, going brown and dying. How can I know if I am over watering or under watering? The tree would be younger than the tree you have planted here.

    • @Pepesplants
      @Pepesplants  7 років тому

      Sounds like insects are the problem. Look at leaves carefully may be caterpillars. Over watering is a problem when the soil drains poorly. How is the drainage? How long has the tree been in the ground?

    • @ehudjudges3238
      @ehudjudges3238 7 років тому

      There are no caterpillars or any bugs. It has been planted for a couple of months now I would say. It is winter here but it's Queensland so even that's not that cold.
      The drainage isn't the best but it's not the worst either. Most of my soil is clay but I grew this just on my lawn where the soil is better than the gardens that are clay.
      Sorry it's a bit vague. I think I'd be guessing that it's either too much or too little water. I do have other citrus trees around the same age that are doing fine in the same sort of soil.
      Looking at the leaves it looks like the tree is drying out, however it has had a lot of water lately with rain so it's surprising. I did grow the soil like a donut around the tree to keep the water in.
      The tree is growing fairly fast so it likes something. I don't want to give it more water to save it, if that's actually the problem. Is there a certain way I can tell if it's too much or too little?

    • @Pepesplants
      @Pepesplants  7 років тому

      Very likely too much water would be my best educated guess site unseen. Mangoes need a dry winter and wet summer with well drained soil. That should give you a clue.

    Need advice on my lychee tree. It is about 2yrs old but due to the last hurricane we had it lost the two branches on the left side of the tree so now it is mainly all in the middle and to the right. Do I fix this somehow or will the tree eventually replace the branches on that side?

    • @Pepesplants
      @Pepesplants  6 років тому

      Prune off the broken branches back to a leaf node. The tree should recover with time. Read about pruning or you could do more harm than good. When I have time I will make som videos on pruning. Thanks for visiting my channel.

    Mango trees like a lot of sun or do they dry up? I put my mango tree in a sunny side and some parts dried up

    • @Pepesplants
      @Pepesplants  4 роки тому +1

      Yes full sun. Newly planted trees need regular watering for the first few months then they are pretty much fine with normal rainfall. They do not withstand wet locations. Always good drainage!

    Hey, in my garden where I planted, there are thousands of snails that eat up everything I grow. I have tried to get rid of them in many different ways but nothing works. I wonder if you have tips on how I can get rid of slugs?

    • @Pepesplants

      You can use a plate on the ground with some beer. They fall in get drunk and die! Really it works. You can also spread some wood ash around the base of the plants. See my link here: www.pepesplants.com/organic-gardening-tips.html

    • @Pepesplants
      @Pepesplants  8 років тому

      Better when first planted. Not much good on the service. Start making compost tea and use it often to water. The organic brew will help create a good environment around the roots over time. The Mycorrhizal fungi will find it's way to the roots in healthy soil naturally.

    why do you put so much mulch around it?

    • @Pepesplants
      @Pepesplants  8 років тому +1

      +Efraim Judah Mulch retains moisture keeps the roots protected and also breaks down to improve the soil. The soil was sandy and tends to dry out fast. We have periods in the summer with little rain so we like mulching during that time. We remove the mulch if we get a real wet summer. Tahnks for your comment and for visiting our channel.
