- In this video, I used a 4.8 inch Keitech Fat Swing Impact swimbait paired with a Mustad KVD Grip Pin (5/0 1/8 oz) and a 1/2 oz bullet weight - Texas Rigged to target halibut, calico, sandbass and white seabass in the surf. See gear links below:

Learning to surf fish with swimbaits has been a long journey for me and it's only just begun. After using Lucky Crafts and other hard jerkbaits exclusively, two years ago, I committed to giving swimbaits a go and man! These things change the game. Being able to fish weedless in the surf opens up so many possibilities. For more on that, check out this article on my website that compares jerkbaits to swimbaits: surffishingsoc...

Nice work Nick!!
Thanks man!
Love the channel!
Thanks!
What is the total weight of your terminal tackle? Wondering if my 8’6” MH rod could handle throwing those big swim baits.
Total weight is a 1/8 oz hook and a 1/2 oz bullet weight. For cumulative 5/8 oz
But I’ve gone as low was 1/4 oz on the bullet weight and it works well too.
Make more videos!!!
@@oceanswimming590 haha dude I know. I need to get a new GoPro. My batteries are all bad and my GoPro battery seal is all grimy. I will I promise😂 just don’t know when
Welcome back Nick!
Thanks, Roland!
I know im late but nice content 🤙
Thanks!
Do you have a wave power/wave height range preference for surf fishing?
The lower and calmer the waves are the better
@@surffishinginsocal thanks 😀
Why do you use a bullet weight and a weighted hook. Thanks
The weighted hook is to balance the lure so it swims up right without rolling. The bullet weight is the main weight for casting distance and lure sinking.
Thank you. That makes sense
You think going 3/4 to 1 oz on the t-rig is too heavy?
Totally depends the depth of water and how turbulent the water is. Shallower and smoother conditions I’d go lighter. Deep/rough conditions that could be okay
@@surffishinginsocal my rods minimum lure rating is 3/4 oz I don’t really want to go buy another rod right now 😂 I guess I’m going to have to adapt to that 3/4 oz
What go pro do you use?
Hero 7
What's your favorite Keitech color?
I like silver shiner and alewife but the pearl ones are also a go to
what beach are you at.???
San Diego
Where were you? Which beach?
San Diego. I don’t specify where I fish unless I’m making a video about a certain beach.
Usually a fisherman secret, prevents over crowding!
