And yet my contemporaries are whinging about losing a £200 energy payment when young parents can't feed or clothe their children.
Within that demographic there are still millions who are far from rich, and are now going to be even less so. Even those who are well off spent their working lives paying into the system, yet are now being denied its benefits.
Brits shouldn't let anyone convince them that Britain is poor. It's just objectively not. There's money and there's investment to be made. Not more Tory austerity.

Im unable to work due to fighting cancer and as a leaseholder I’m being made to pay for remediation costs for fire safety cladding that was built unsafe and sold to us under false pretext. I can’t put decent food on the table so I can eat better to fight my cancer, I can’t afford to heat my home because I’m no loner eligible for the winter fuel payment, i won’t get help with remediation costs because I’m an unqualified leaseholder. I’ve spent the last two days in hospital and had a masectomy to try to get rid of some of the cancer and all I could think of was how am I going to afford to pay for this charge and keep a roof over my kids heads. WE NEED HELP FROM OUR GOVERNMENT AND WE NEED HELP NOW ! I will loose my home if nothing is done and my kids will be homeless!

ok. so that was a promise to keep the triple lock for the duration of this first term in government. Hopefully, this will not be reversed in the coming budgets. We will hold the Labour party to this. Re winter fuel payment. Why wont Labour commit to helping those pensioners just with an income just above claim for Pension Credit?
This amount of 900 pounds is only if you are on the top rate pension. Those of us on the basic pension only got about 550pounds, 15a week. Next year it will be about half that.

The state does not grow an economy. Individuals do. The states function is to set the framework for individuals to take risks and encourage entrepreneurs to invest.

If you think an economy is grown on redistribution of wealth by taxing rich people I dont know what to say. You need to attract investment and risk takers to build wealth. Everyone has that opportunity. If you tax wealthy people then you will make the country poorer.
Look at America… for example look at Texas inparticular Houston, Dallas and Austin. Thats a system how you generate wealth for the individual. That’s how an economy works. The government leaves you alone and sets the framework for people to work hard pay less tax and invest. This is how wealth is generated.
