I'm really exited for this new remake of III, especially after recording a playthrough of III from switch. I actually like the switch version with its smoothed monster sprites. In my playthrough i tried to reinforce the story structure with my own voiced cutscenes to match those in VIII and XI. They also provide character development for my whole team. When i saw this remake reveal i was like: Well..... I'm doing it again! As soon as i get the game, i'll record its playthrough on my channel. What i want to see is all the added content missing from the mobile/switch version. I also want abilities to be added. They can vary by the class played. For example Priests can get Pearly Gates, Mages and Sages can use Magic Burst, Martial Artists get Multifists and Knuckle Sandwich and the Hero of course will get Gigaslash.
I only first played DQ3 (via the NES version) a few years ago, but it left such a huge impression on me that it seriously is in my personal running for one of the best games of all time.
I am definitely going to get it for whatever I have that it is released for. Hopefully Switch or PS4, but PC wouldn't be a deal breaker if it comes out late enough that it's for nothing else I own.
I personally was happy to get the Switch version, as it had been years since I played on GBC and it was nice being able to play a brighter version that can play on the TV too, but THIS is amazing and I can't wait. And honestly I'd be ok if they made some changes or expanded it in some ways since I've played it so many times before.
I still wish the Final Fantasy Games at least the first 6 games got this level of remake treatment. I seriously hope one day Final Fantasy 5 and 6 get this treatment for a remake. Tangent aside though I can't wait to pick up the HD 2D Remake of DQ3.
@@theninjararar The original, you mean? Because the remake looks atrocious (somehow even worse than FF5). Now, I am always here for a new FF4 remake (especially if it's the complete collection), but it needs it less than the rest.
One of my favorite things (that I'd all but forgotten until now) was the hero carrying a torch in caves to light the way in Dragon Quest 8. Cool to see him with a lamp in this remake of 3.
recently beat DQ1, now playing Phantasy star 4 and i am probably going to play DQ2 or Final Fantasy 1 or 4 next, so hopefully when i am out of other games to play the remake is out
Definitely play DQ 2 before this 3 remake, its a trilogy and important to play in that order, trust me. Play FF 4 and 1 both after that since there both amazing games too.
My hope for the remake is that alot of the Story segments get more presentation and possible voice acting (if possible) so as a player i can immerse myself in the world more and feel a deeper connection with the main character as they go on their journey. I'd also like some optional party chat during INNs like in Secret of Mana remake. This way the extra party members can feel more like people then just tools to switch out now and then. This is just me when it comes to the Presentation and story. I just beat the switch port like a few days ago and while I had fun, it's mainly the presentation i'd like to see an improvement on.
I just hope they keep the music, they tend to change the songs. They also re-made the anime Adventures of DAI, but changed all the theme songs from dragon quest 3 in it.
I don't mind the extra stuff not being in the Switch port. I'm looking forward to this, of course, but the prospect of DQ12 being more "adult-oriented" has me wondering what they mean exactly.
I don't know if you're after topic suggestions, but what about ranking DQ games per difficulty? I apreciate how this games aren't afraid os being HARD!

I´m so so excited about this!!! Honestly, the only things I really want are the beautiful orchestral soundtrack and the bonus content from the GBC version, which I didn´t get to play with since I played the SFC version of the game. If I get those two things I am satisfied!! AAAH THE HYPE!!!
Dragon Quest 1 was my first RPG, i was like 4 lol. I had no idea what it even was, just a memory of it for like 35 years. Then i discovered it again with FFXIV. Understood the name was changed here, and that was part of my disconnect for so long. Needless to say, i have a lot of catching up to do.
I'm not really gonna hold my breath due to the game being a simultaneous release and not having it is series tradition in Japan, but I hope there's dual audio voice acting. Octopath Traveler had voice acting.
Listening to you talk about dragon quest 3 instantly reminded me of some of my favourite aspects of octopath traveler, my favourite jrpg I've played. Super excited for this remake, it's my most anticipated game alongside Mario + Rabbids sparks of hope
I want to know what they're doing with the soundtrack. Is it going to be rearranged? If so, by who? Are they putting the SNES ost in there for you to switch to? My absolute dream scenario would be if Yasunori Nishiki (,Octopsth Traveler composer) gets to do his own rendition of the OST. But knowing how strict sugiyama is with his music, I don't exactly have high hopes for anything like that happening. Here's hoping we at least get an orchestrated soundtrack.
I'm excited for this remake. The original NES version was what got me into the series and I would love to see what they do with this. I do agree that Switch port is lacking overall, but I am glad they kept the quality of life improvements from the previous remakes(Having Thief as a class option as well Merchant and Gadabout growing MP is wonderful). I am wondering if the personality system is still in play for remake(I imagine it should be).
I’ve been taking all the time in the world in my current playthrough of DQ III. Molding character skills and stats to my liking has just been too much fun. I’m afraid this game will force me into a sabbatical of sorts. 🤪😆
DQ3 was actually my first experience into the franchise, and rather recently. I saw the trailer for hero on Smash and thought "Why have I never picked up a DQ game?" I grabbed it on the phone, and didn't get too far, but enjoyed it. I since have picked up a few more (mainly XI) and am loving them. Thanks for pointing out that this should be a better experience than on the phone, I'm now looking forward to it even more.
dragon quest 12 still does not have anything concrete shown as a trailer of course they have bean focusing more on final fantasy 7 remake trilogy and dragon quest 3 remake so i can understand that. some people may have not liked it but i liked final fantasy 7 remake and will b ebuying rebirth wene it hits steam.
Once DQ3 HD-2D remake can be pre-order I'm buying it, as addition would I like to see have to be new vocations even if we have to do sidequest for them I mean there so many new vocations since this game and with the obvious attention they did to this game having some new classes wouldn't hurt right
kinda wish it was more 3D, but oh well. i also hope they keep the monster medal system from the GBC version. made it a bit of a grind, but it gave you something to do when leveling up other classes. i could do without the pachisi boards... unless there's a save state ability. wasted hours trying to play f'n pachisi. i imagine it'll be out before XII, but since the video only shows events up until you break the wall east of aliahan, i sadly don't think it's close to being release yet.
I'm not into the 2D-HD remake at first, but now i'm glad they took this direction The 2D Remake really HITS HOME. To the past vibes and so on. Well, maybe DQ4 and 5 deserve 3D remake more
How are the levels balanced if you can play bosses in random order? Are all the bosses the same levels or do they change dynamically according to the player's level?
Pretty sure the difficulty levels for bosses are fixed according to area, though it's clear that some were meant to be done near the same level as each other for that point in the game's progression anyway. If you want to spend hours grinding until you're incredibly overleveled though, all power to ya because you'll likely feel overleveled if you grind passed the mid 20s for the first half of the game. Could be wrong though.
Bosses are SET LEVELS and you can tell you are in a AREA EARLY if you find yourself OUTMATCHED by overworld Enemies . the FINAL boss is a SET LEVEL , but you may HAVE TO level to 99 in order to have any affect on him.
@@markplott4820 unless you use the orb during the battle, in which case you can get away with level 40ish. Of course there is the possibility you're actually referring to postgame boss Xenlon, who you *definitely* want to be level 99 for.
I am excited for new content. More classes and Pachisi boards. Even more bonus dungeons. A big thing that would be amazing is the Draconian settings from Dragon Quest 11 being in the Dragon Quest series moving forward. That would be amazing. Being able to play Dragon Quest 3 with 'Stronger Monsters' or being able to 'Only have 5 total player characters created,' or 'You cannot change a character's class at Alltrades Abbey.' Combining something like those 3 would be a completely different way to play the game. Or after beating the game and doing post game and all the of the sidequests, maybe you could unlock the ability to play Dragon Quest 1 and 2. So you beat 3 and unlock 1 then beat 1 and unlock 2. 3 is a prequel so it is within the realm of reality, though I know it is extremely unlikely. But that would be incredible post-game content. The ability to play the entire trilogy with new balancing and these beautiful visuals and remastered audio. Also, things like more equipment with more interesting and varied affects like %-based elemental damage reduction, strength or wisdom bonuses. Status ailment prevention, accessories better than personality altering ones. But most importantly, big things like Magical Might and Mending, to let spell casters keep up and giving physical classes skills, instead of just the 'attack command.' So, the Warrior could have things like the Spears skills like: Mercurial Thrust, Multithrust, Clean Sweep, Thunder Thrust and Lightning Thrust. Another class could have: Flame Slash, Lightning Blade, Vacuum Slash, Kacrackle Slash and the like to hit elemental weakness. Or another class could have things like: Miracle Slash, Falcon Slash, Dragon Slash, Metal Cut. And I could go on and on. It's a HUGE shame that this game might have been significantly delayed. I want to play it so bad. I do hope it comes out this year. It already super sucks we aren't getting Dragon Quest 10 Offline Edition. I hope the developers stay safe and healthy.
do the weapons change on the character sprites? That was always a beef I had with the old dragon warrior/quest games. That was a huge advabtage that FF1 had... you could see the weapons... really ahead of its time. I'm glad that as DQ evolved... you could see the characters attack, and their weapons looked different
Looking forward to playing it for the first time. Also they seriously need to use this HD2D tech style with Chrono Trigger and FF6. That would be incredible, and they could literally just the original sprite work.
I'm one of the few that would've loved seeing 3 in the style of 11. I'm sure they went for this style for 2 things. A sense of "purity" And to set it (further?) apart from every other jrpg today. Still, this and 10 Offline are the ones in most hyped about from the presentation. My only nitpick for this style is that I was hoping characters would attack Golden Sun style, but instead camera goes into 1st person.
I hope that they will remake other Dragon Quests in this look, for example Dragon Quest IX, I just need a 60 FPS HD remake of this game because its my favourite out of the whole series (:

I will say that I do hope this comes out soon because even though I don’t think the switch port looks awful you’d be insane to say that this doesn’t look as good as the port.

I’m so excited for this HD remake, I couldn’t bring myself to play the “remake” on Switch that used the smoothed out sprites.
I'm so excited for this its almost painful waiting for more info. I need a release date.
Now we need Final Fantasy 6 and Chrono Trigger in this HD 2D style.
It better have Pachisi from the GBC version. Otherwise it's dead to me.
I still wish the Final Fantasy Games at least the first 6 games got this level of remake treatment. I seriously hope one day Final Fantasy 5 and 6 get this treatment for a remake.
Tangent aside though I can't wait to pick up the HD 2D Remake of DQ3.
I want ff4 the most i think ff6 still looks pretty good
@@theninjararar The original, you mean?
Didn't even know this was a thing. Will keep it in mind for the future.
I apreciate how this games aren't afraid os being HARD!
i've only played 11s so far and i've now beaten that game 3 times. i'm pretty hype for this one.
dragon quest 11 was a really good game. i just wish i could find a mod that unblocks all the blocked locations from the get go so i can truly test my abilities. i am currently on my second play threw.this time on steam . i bought the game on 2024 steam summer sale for around 24 dollars 27 with tax i believe.
@@supersaiyaman11589 i played the game on switch, PC gamepass, and steam. i never really felt like i needed to go out of my way for stronger enemies but here are hard options that you unlock after beating the game.
I would be cool if they remake 1 - 6
I´m so so excited about this!!! Honestly, the only things I really want are the beautiful orchestral soundtrack and the bonus content from the GBC version, which I didn´t get to play with since I played the SFC version of the game. If I get those two things I am satisfied!! AAAH THE HYPE!!!
I’ve played this game so many times, it’s going to be amazing replaying it in this new art style!
Words cannot describe the hype
I'm so freaking pumped for this
The gameboy color version was solid enough. I wish they remade the first two then this.
I think it is very likely going to be the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra since the trailer had their name in the corner.
When will it be released?
Hopefully this comes out on switch cause I loved dq11 on the switch!😀
4:24 "look so good" 😰
If this becomes successful, I'm just hoping to see what Dragon Quest IV and V will look like if they ever remake it.
Been excited question is when will it arrive to the west?
Four words: confirmed simultaneous worldwide release.
Sugiyama better let Square use the Orchestrated soundtrack for this remake otherwise I feel like a MIDI OST would hurt the experience a bit.
will the game be released for Ps4 or Ps5? Or will we have the Dq9 classes introduced?
This and DQ12 are the best things to come out of the 35th anniversary.
dragon quest 12 still does not have anything concrete shown as a trailer of course they have bean focusing more on final fantasy 7 remake trilogy and dragon quest 3 remake so i can understand that. some people may have not liked it but i liked final fantasy 7 remake and will b ebuying rebirth wene it hits steam.
so, when is this coming out...been a while
Once DQ3 HD-2D remake can be pre-order I'm buying it, as addition would I like to see have to be new vocations even if we have to do sidequest for them I mean there so many new vocations since this game and with the obvious attention they did to this game having some new classes wouldn't hurt right
kinda wish it was more 3D, but oh well. i also hope they keep the monster medal system from the GBC version. made it a bit of a grind, but it gave you something to do when leveling up other classes. i could do without the pachisi boards... unless there's a save state ability. wasted hours trying to play f'n pachisi.
i imagine it'll be out before XII, but since the video only shows events up until you break the wall east of aliahan, i sadly don't think it's close to being release yet.
I'm not into the 2D-HD remake at first, but now i'm glad they took this direction
The 2D Remake really HITS HOME.
I just hope that all the content cut from the Switch/mobile version makes it into this remake.
Does this mean if we get DQ one and two remastered would simple and awesome
do the weapons change on the character sprites? That was always a beef I had with the old dragon warrior/quest games. That was a huge advabtage that FF1 had... you could see the weapons... really ahead of its time. I'm glad that as DQ evolved... you could see the characters attack, and their weapons looked different
not really ahead of its time. Ff1 pales in comparison to dq3 and 4.
Im ready to give this a try. This will be my first dragon quest game. Im really hoping FF6 gets this treatment.
Thanks for sharing. Always appreciate DQ and the history with it. It’s the console RPG King!
A sense of "purity"
And to set it (further?) apart from every other jrpg today.
Still, this and 10 Offline are the ones in most hyped about from the presentation.
My only nitpick for this style is that I was hoping characters would attack Golden Sun style, but instead camera goes into 1st person.
They'll remake it in that 3D style later.
Can't wait to see it on PS4!
DQ III is NOT coming to the PS4 , ever .
however its possible you may get DQ 12 if its not a SWICH Console EXCLUSIVE.
@@markplott4820 I mean it is on ps4 in Japan. So maybe there is a chance
@@tyrone2423 - Why would SE release any older DQ I - III on the PS4 , the Graphics are NES 8 bit , even for the DQ III.
It’s funny how despite this one being announced first, the Live A Live remake ended up being the first HD-2D remake of a game to be released.
I'm waiting for the release date of this game so bad
I hope that they will remake other Dragon Quests in this look, for example Dragon Quest IX, I just need a 60 FPS HD remake of this game because its my favourite out of the whole series (:
Loved that you zoomed in on the female warrior’s assets lol. Sack chief is a fellow man of culture
Plus if 3 remake sells well they may do the rest of the Dq games, I’ve always wanted to play Dq 5 but I don’t have £200 to get a copy
I'm honestly excited that there is a (small) chance that this might be the first time that we might have III with the OST.
I totally agree they should more content even give a side characters life like each class have a different dialog and also add some easter eggs.
So in those shots, can we make the joke how Erdwin is holding his lantern?
Another sack video, means I must click ASAP.
Ikr
To be fair... We had DQ6 which made vocations BUSTED.
To be honest I didn’t think that the switch port for dragon quest three looked terrible and I’ve also only recently started playing through numbers one and two on the switch. I will say that I do hope this comes out soon because even though I don’t think the switch port looks awful you’d be insane to say that this doesn’t look as good as the port.
Finally watching this.
Hell yeah, the remake deserves all the love.
We're getting the butter-smooth sprite animations that the newer versions lack, and everything is just better in general.
Dragon Quest XI was my first entry in the series, making me a nooblet. But I’m extremely excited to play this one for its historical value
I pre-ordered the ridiculously priced version
I’m so excited for this HD remake, I couldn’t bring myself to play the “remake” on Switch that used the smoothed out sprites. It never meshed well with the backgrounds which were still pixelated it was an eyesore to look at. Never played Ocotopath Traveler but I love the art style in that game and it makes DQ3 look beautiful! Can’t wait for this to release as it’ll be my first time playing this game
We need this for the mother series. I’m definitely copping this. Too bad Nintendo would never do it.
Your videos got me back into the classic games.
Dragon Warrior was the first video game I remember playing. And the switch version is beautiful.
I beat 1 and 2 recently, and am playing 3 now.
4:25 Oh no please no okay look we get it.
I have very recently become a dragon quest fan. I’m not even finished with DQXI but this has already become my favorite franchises ever. It might even beat Zelda if I’m honest with you. I’ve never played any other DQ game but I am so so excited for DQIII as I’ve seen so many people love that game. I really hope DQ starts to see new fans of the franchise because it upsets me that it’s not well known in the west too much.
