I never really knew who Nova was until the first artwork came on screen. I never knew she did that beautiful art and I wish I gotten the chance to follow her. I give my condolences to her friends and family. She will be missed 😔
An update: We will be flying out to Oregon in October of this year to spread most of Nova’s ashes, and the ashes of her beloved pet companion, Boo, in the redwood forest she so dearly wanted to see. It is because of the generosity of this amazing community that we were able to hit our Go Fund Me goals. Some of Nova’s ashes will be taken to Japan to be interred with her grandmother and grandfather. Some of her ashes will be interred in a massive, 120 year old oak tree that she used to play under. Thank you to everyone. Nova’s Dad.
I know that I am late, but is there anything that she wanted? maybe something to donate to (like cancer research)?

Oh my god, I am gutted to hear this. Nova's artwork was so wonderful, it really defined my initial obsession with NiGHTS when I was just a kid. She was such an integral part of the community for so long. I am so sorry for your loss. My deep condolences.

That quote definitely rings true for us. I heard something similar not too long ago that carries the same weight, and it's a fitting sentiment if anything. I'll try to remember it as we go forward without our friend.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I've been a follower of her art for well over 10 years over at DA and from being a Nights fan. Her work was amazing and she inspired me quite a bit.
I've would check back to her DA periodically over the years just to see how she was doing so this is a real blow.
I hope you and everyone she ever touched in her life find the space to grieve and heal from losing such a lovely person and artist.

Was following her on DA since back in 2006. Her art and her talent were an amazing delight to see. The world has lost a brilliant light but I'm happy to have had a chance to watch her shine. Even if only for a little while.

Your daughter Nova was an inspiration to so many people. She brought a lot of joy to a lot of lives with her art, and our corner of the internet community was all the more blessed because of it. As a long time friend, i know nobody could ever replace her in my life and i wouldn't want anybody to replace her either. I want to carry Nova in my heart for the rest of my days, and together with Lynne i hope we'll be able to honour her memory in whichever way we can.

I remember her art when I discovered NiGHTS when I was very little. I didnt realise I followed her on Deviantart until a week ago as I barely log on there. She was very talented even to her last art she made. I regret that I didnt get the chance to talk or network with her. Even though I never directly messaged her or knew her her passing announcement really shook me. I am really sorry for your loss Digi. Big hugs. Hope we as people can work to stop Cancer soon. 💔

So many, and I mean SO many of her pieces are among the first I ever saw once I had first discovered the online NiGHTS community. Some of which I've mistaken for official artwork, even! It seems like everything she had any involvement in was nothing short of extraordinary. An extraordinary artist and an extraordinary friend. I wish I had ever taken a moment to say thank you to her for all the good she brought into the world. You're definitely right, and Lynne was saying something similar the other day too - Nova's work was so precise and refined that on occasions it would look like official art, sometimes even better! There will never be another one like her. She was our golden idol.

Take your time. No rush. Your fans will still be here. Unfortunately, I do not know Nova as much as most people and fandom, let alone you. But I am fortunate that I got to learn and witness the authentic genius of her creations. Her art is an inspiration to continue drawing as an expression of what I am passionate about.
If another anime convention comes up around where I am or I end up moving to London, hopefully I get to run into you one day.

Nova was always one of my biggest inspirations in the NiGHTS community. As a former member of the community, I’m still reeling in the shock at the loss of a beloved member.

Digi, I am so sorry. I know how hard it is to lose a friend when you least expect it. But I want you to know that you didn’t meander and you weren’t inconsistent. Nova’s artwork is beautiful, and while I didn’t know her since I’m just one of your subscribers, I can tell she was an amazing person. That alone was more than enough for me to watch the whole video. I love you, Digi, and I hope you and Lynn are doing okay. My thoughts and prayers are all for you, buddy. And Nova, I pray that you can finally rest in peace.

I grew up in the suburbs near Nasa in Florida. She was my next door neighbor when I was 6-8, and later when my family moved back. She was a diehard Sonic fan. We swapped between Sonic and Tails with Sonic2 on her brothers Sega. We both had a connection with the Fandom, but I stupidly didn't connect with her further through it after I moved with my family in my early twenties. Such is life.
I was searching for her to see how she was doing, to catch up. I'm heart broken. It hurts worse that I lost touch, to share things with the Fandom with an old friend when we were kids.
I will miss her dearly.

I’m so sorry about loosing it as well as anything about bringing back who dat comments I posted to you. We didn’t deserve to loose someone as important as her.
I remember people using her art for a "NiGHTS 2" teasers and stuff like that. I still greive every day.
I remember those too. There were a number of fake 'NiGHTS 2' boxart designs that were using her fan-maren Ahankara for the cover image.
The world got a lot dimmer after her passing. May her artwork inspire many more artists to let the world light up again, and may she rest in peace. I hope that her family and loved ones, you and Lynn included, can recover from this awful sadness in the healthiest way possible.

The friendship you had with her, the kindness and warmth, it may not ever be filled again. But you'll find warmth that'll surround that void, coexist alongside it, and make it hurt less. I'm sorry for your loss and hope time eases this pain.
Definitely remember some of Nova's art. She sounds like a huge inspiration to you and just how you described her, like comparing her to the word Nova and its meaning, it did make me feel more attached to what you said and teary eyed, despite I never knew her.

Im not going to pretend I knew her or that I’m a hardcore Night’s fan, but just hearing you talk about your friend like this breaks my heart, because I too have friends that I could not possibily imagine losing in such a way. I went into this thinking she might have been someone I didn't know, but I went through her art and realized she was on of the artists I admired a lot when I was younger and super into the Sonic fandom. A bit of a side note regarding Nova's name. Her first names from the Latin novus, meaning "new." Her middle name, Asahi is Japanese meaning "morning sun" or "sunrise." Taken together you have "New sunrise." She truly was that to her mother and myself.
I was aware of her first name meaning 'new' but i was completely unaware of what her middle name meant. This is such a beautiful and fitting name for her.

Money is tight right now but I just wanna say I hope she's living her best life in the next one and I hope you guys will feel better with time knowing that she made many peoples day brighter. I remember seeing her art when I was a really young teenager and being insanely inspired and motivated to create and experiment more with digital artwork because of her… Even though I found her artwork through my love for NiGHTS, I adored everything she made.
It breaks my heart to see the loss of such an immensely creative and wonderful individual.
I hope Nova is resting peacefully now and you and her family have come to terms with the loss.

Hey, Digi, I feel you, man.
Like you, someone close to me left us a while back, and it still haunts me.
Every day, I tell myself, I should've said and done more while they were still here with us.
And man, it hurts, it really fucking does, and it will hurt for a while. I still cry for them every now and then.
And I'll admit, it was hard to listen to this one, especially toward the end man... it just came flooding back to me.
But you know, you loved your friend, as did I love mine, man, and that's more than anyone could ask for, to be loved, and now, remembered.
So always keep them in your heart, man, always do.
I hope in time, you guys can recover.

I'm sorry for your loss, also. And you are right, there is this feeling of 'i wish i could have done more for them', but i think that's because we hold these friends in such high regard that nothing will ever feel like it would have been enough. Maybe there's some peace to be found within that somewhere, i don't know.

I may not have known Nova in any real aspect, but I can clearly see from the art shown that she was the best at her craft and meant a lot to you. I know it must've pained you not to include more words into the video seeing as your relationship with her was that strong.
