I grew up in Morenci AZ, Eastern Arizona. My parents used to take us to the Catwalk when I was a kid, in the 70's. The catwalk bridges have been destroyed in flash floods more than once. I then took my wife and sons there in the early 2000's. We also hunt Turkey, Deer and Elk near Reserve NM. My guide is from Reserve and still lives there. My oldest son took his 1st Bull Elk near Reserve when he was 13 years old! I love that country in western NM!!
Hi Randy! ❤ I really enjoyed this video! I've been out to New Mexico a couple times with my Mom and Dad, and never knew about or been to this place. I wish I did, it is so beautiful! I know my parents would have loved to see this. I would have loved to hike it with you! I also love exploring and reading the history of places. Thank you for sharing this adventure and look forward to your next one! 😊
Hi Suzanne, Thank you for the kind words. I really like the western New Mexico area. Lots of history and beautiful places to see. Thank you for sharing and have a wonderful week!
I've been there many times, but it's been many years since my last visit. It has changed drastically. There used to be a suspension bridge near the top. We had fun bouncing up and down on that.
That’s one of my favorite parts of New Mexico. Old Maggie and I wanted to retire there, but The Universe had other things plans for us. Hope we can make another trip out there before we can’t travel any more. Peace, y’all
Thank you for sharing.... My parents lived about 40 miles the opposite direction you entered, going towards Silver City NM. Our family spent a lot of time at the Catwalk. Last time I was there was in the mid 90s 😢 Miss New Mexico
Hi 5wheels, You're welcome. Western New Mexico is beautiful and has lots of history. I hope to do more of that soon. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful week!
Oh, and the webs in the trees. I think they are called web worms. I grew up in NM and we would get them in our trees when I was kid, Dad always cut them out. It wasn’t a good thing to have them in your trees.
Randy those large trees are sycamore trees not cottonwoods the catwalk has been destroyed a couple of times by raging floods that come off the mountains during rainy season. We used to camp in that area when I was a kid it was very rural back 60 years ago.
Hi Sandiaman, Thank you for letting me know about the tree mix up. I always mix them up, but I think I've got it down now🙂. I'll bet it was peaceful back then without all the traffic. If I could see one of those floods from a safe place it would be stunning. Thanks for sharing and have a great week!
Since candy can melt & you forget to bring them on your hikes for hypoglycemia, I have a solution for you. I use ReliOn Glucose Tablets (10 chewable tablets in a plastic container) that I purchase at Walmart Pharmacy. I can put them in my pocket where ever I go & they don't melt. BTW, no charge for the medical advice 😄

Couldn’t see the tree close enough to the bridge but it looks like a Globe willow. Beautiful green and beautiful in the fall too!
Thank you for letting me know. I'll have to check it out next fall. Thanks again and have a great day!
I really enjoy your videos. I'm retired a couple of years now and ready to take trips and explore too.
Hi Lorrain, Thank you for the kind words. Safe travels on your trips and have a great time!
I rode my motorcycle down that road but didn't know where the entrance was for the catwalk
Hi T-bone, It is a little confusing. I had to use google maps to get there and still missed my turn. 🤣 Thanks for sharing and have a good week!
Great trip.
Thanks Randy. Have a great week!
Randy, your cottonwood trees are actually sycamore trees. The ones with the smoother bark cottonwoods are rough on the outside Steve.
Ahh... OK, Thanks explaining it in a way I can remember in the future. Thanks again Steve and have a great week!
I love Sycamores! I planted an Arizona Sycamore in my yard in Safford AZ this summer. I love the smellvif the Sycamore leaves.
Told ya… Beautiful place. You like old towns, go to Mogollon, NM.
Oh, and the webs in the trees. I think they are called web worms. I grew up in NM and we would get them in our trees when I was kid, Dad always cut them out. It wasn’t a good thing to have them in your trees.
Hi D. I looked it up and looks like an amazing place to see. Thank you for the tip and have a good week!
My moms dad was born in Mogollon, in the year 1900!!
@@454Casul Wow! Mogollon looks like a real interesting place and is on my to do list. Did your grandpa live there long?
On the catwalk
If you'd gone clear to the end, you would have seen the best swimming hole. It's about 4-6 ft deep. Really a great place to swim.
Hi Peggy, When I get back I'll definitely check it out. Thanks for the tip and have a wonderful day!
