Thanks for the tutorial Johnny Knocksville
I saw this comment before the video loaded and died when I saw him
Ben Foster same lol
Everybody’s thinking it ;)
Brilliant... just made me belly laugh 🤣
Haha!
It was good to see you wrapping it the right direction. So many people wrap it starting from the top and it does allow water in. It's like shingeling a roof, you start from the bottom.
I think it's better to start at the end of your pipe and wrap towards the top. Think about the flow of air and dirt that will be hitting it. The exposed edges should be away from the direction the bike travels. Just my opinion.
The 4 into one is bad ass. Thanks for this video. I’ll be doing my pipes this weekend on my build, I’ll link this video.
great tip with using the plastic zip ties before going to the metal ones. I would never have thought of that
wrapping the pipes on my cb750 nighthawk. This is going to look good ! thanks for the heads up
Wrapped exhaust. Looks beefier and cooler, maintains the custom look. Anybody can slap whatever exhaust on and call it a day, but as you've shown it takes lots of time and care to get a clean, good look with exhaust wrap so it gives it that extra "hands-on" kind of feel to the overall demeanor of what this bike is supposed to be.
That 4-1 is simpleton stuff.
I remember when i put exhaust wrap on my bike without gloves on, i'll think twice next time 😂
I just found your channel and subscribe Very informative I wrap my pipes on my softail in 2006 and absolutely no problem with them so far . I’m doing my girlfriends sportster next week I have a thunder header on mine and she’s just running straight flight so it should be a lot easier
After it soaks secure one end of the wrap to the pipe unroll as much as you think you need put the other end in a vise then hold the pipe and lean back with all your weight and spin the pipe towards the vise with all your weight on it this gives you a Super tight wrap that will last a very long time ......
Hardtail Suicidaljockey this is how I’ve seen it done. Great tip
Lil Doggy thanks works well did it a lot ...
That gap jacks it up. That 4 into 1 is sweet.
very useful thank you I will use this as a tutorial to wrap my mini bike!
🎉great job!! Thanks.
Keep the wrap and make a baffle type shroud over the junction area. Flat black ....like the end of a machine gun!!!
Wrapped is my fav
If you want to keep the color of the exhaust wrap you will need 2 or 3 layers. 1st Layer only will burn off all color and go to white when heat hits it. And you do need a 30 minute "cook off" period to allow all the stuff to burn away before you go riding. ;)
It reduces soooo much resonant heat. My shin felt absolutely ZERO "HEADER HEAT" this time going cross country so the stuff is HIGHLY EFFECTIVE
Just a heads-up. VHT makes a 1300 degree paint for headers and pipes... I learned the hard way by painting the headers of an air-cooled Honda with the 500, it burned right off... no problems with the VHT "Header" paint.
Appreciate the video. I learned how to do it correctly from you. Thanks. The metal zip ties are great. I’ve seen people use hose clamps and I thought there had to be a better way.
Two side exhauste look more balance and with the rap it's more badass !
Wrap the 4 into 1 exhaust and it'll have that awesome wrapped look like a hotrod header on a set up already tuned for the motor, or cut a piece of a chrome exhaust cover from an old exhaust and use it to fill in the unwrapped section
I like the second set of pipe
epic vid, cheers
The physics don't add up to the "more than 10%" statement. The amount of gasses released through the exhaust valve equal the cilynder size minus displacement. If there is 10% volume left in the cylinder with the piston at TDC, that gas will remain. Having hotter headers will not decrease the volume of either the gasses in the exhaust or the cylinder. The real reason to wrap an exhaust is simply to keep the heat in the pipe rather than letting that heat radiate back to the motor. It helps keep the engine cool. Air cooled motors need all the help they can get. Also, it looks cool.
Definitely the 4 into 1 pipe. Much cleaner looking and probably all around better performance.
Wrap should start at the flanges and end at the tips, and it should be coated in the high temp silicone sealant afterwards. You shouldn’t soak it in water like that; only wet it enough to loosen it up.
I've read that not soaking in water is the best/propway to go, and I've also read the complete opposite.. not sure which to believe. Guess I could start with just spraying a little water on them and seeing how that goes, and if I'm not having progress I'll go ahead and soak them in water.
Depends on brand. DEI does not recommend soaking or any top coat spray.
When all else fails, use manufacture recommendations.
Cane out good. O think the titanium would look better. Even though I'm a black look type guy myself. Good job man.
The 4into1 looks good but the bike is a custom bobber build just wrap the middle and stay with the custom look who ever wins the bobber can change them if they want but for me the bike looks hella sick with duel custom exhaust
Custom wrapped exhaust 100%!
I prefer the wrapped look, I would say though gotta cover it with something maybe a heat shield design of some kind or something artistic to take away from the weird break in wrap
make a little stainless heat shield to cover the unwrapped area
You could install a custom heatshield over the 2into1 section. I think the wrapped exhaust fits the look of the bike better
Didn't see this vid was a year old I guess everything is sorted already 😅
Takes way to long for a new video. Love to see them
Choppers are 'not my favourite style' to say the least, but awesome job and tutorial!
Thanks, you have yourself a new subscriber!
Chopper? It's a bobber. Lol
4 into 1 is definitely looks best
It will sound better too
The wrap is cool but the 4 into 1 is sweet!
Yeah can't beat the sound of 4 to 1 either
Definitely the 4 into 1 system wrapped
Why did you leave a gap in the wrap? It looks odd the way it was done.
Dont like the 4 into 1.. just work out the gap on the custom one. Hide it with a nice shield with the same look as the tank!
Should wrap the Mack pipes
thankyou, Johnny Knoxville of the biking community 👍
Hey brother I have a 2001 CB750 and would like to bob it , is their a frame out their I could use , one similar to the tc brothers gram and voodoo frames kits or do I have fab one
Wrap the 4 into 1! 😍👍
Ditch the custom exhaust, sucks with all the time involved, but the bolt on looks really clean brah!.....BRAAAAP! Orrrr wrap that middle section on custom, but I do like the bolt on. Pretty clean....brap brap BRAAAAP!
Was it just the one roll or did it take more?
3:22 your neigborhood are proud of you..lol
the custom one is looking good ,but if you can cover the free spot with a pice of pipe (or something smoother) will be much better.
I like'em both. Can't decide. The wrap looks more Rat, if that's what you're going for.
this is a really solid job, defo a great video and i learned alot thanks
The 4 into 1 looks WAAAAY better than the custom one bud
The custom wrapped one
4-1 😍
💖
Scavenging is when during valve overlap the exiting exhaust pulls in your AF mixture
how long for the soak???
Hey may be a dumb question but if I take off my exhaust to wrap it, once I reinstall do I need to rejet? Reinstalling the same system I took off to wrap
No you do not have to rejet. Should run exactly the same
@@HaydenZ06 thanks appreciate the reply !
Paint the space with HVT flat black paint.
Def 4 into 1 by far imo
4 in 1 it has a better look then those plane pipes
Привет тебе из России! Ты крутой мужик. Удачи тебе.
Me encantan las cateme y quiero que me compre una mi mamá chau me encantó tu video
Nawce video...🍇✨🏆🏁
Definitely should have wrapped the collector. Other than that, great job!
Wrap the Macs!
Better seal that wrap or it's just going to turn white after it heats up a few times...
you should have burned the edges of the tape. it prevents it from getting all stringy.
why can't you wrap the middle bit?
Can you not wrap it directly over Chrome??
You can
Soak the wrap in water for a few minutes, the wrap will lay better and it will dry out in just a few after starting the bike
It will also steam or smoke, but it will stop
@@OlderShadowRider exactly!! 👍
If you buy the titanium wrap instead of the cheap fiberglass you don’t have to soak anything.
Titanium won’t break down or burn off, so you won’t have to do the job over and over. $53 for 50 feet of titanium and you do it once.
I just wanted the white look. Titanium was a green tan brown color. My bike is black so i want some white to pop out a little bit @ginoasci2876
I think you should wrap the 4 into 1
support
I would wrap the 4n1 and make my own muffler with a 12in straight tail pipe on the end with a fiberglass wrapped baffle in it. 👍
Mac pipes
The custom wrapped exhaust gives it more character . Just wrap that gap. The 4 in to 1s muffler looks to big and out of place 👎.
can i do that without uninstalling the pipe?
no lol
4 into 1
Wrapped, its supposed to look Old School, if we wanted a copy of all the other bikes out there we would be watching someone else, Plus it just looks better in my opinion.
FORMOSUS!
A little late but wrap
The black stuff you washed off is a protective coating that’s supposed to stay on the wrap… you wet it not soak it. You washed off half of what it’s even worth
I wrapped mine to hide my ugly welds
Word, I feel your pain. I'd only wrap to hide welds, damage, etc. It never looks as good as a clean exhaust.
I like the wrapped pipes better..
Definately the custom one. The 4into1 goes better on a modern bike, not a custom bobber like this.
thats a wrap for this episode lol
I like the wrap better.
Where’s ya hat man?
Love the wrap .
Hi, thanks for that. How many rolls of 50' did U use for this job?
CHALLENGE: DO THIS BUT ON A 2 STROKE PIPE
Класс🤔👍👍👍👍
Note: @ 3:29 ... 90% of Spray paint lands on everything but the Exhaust pipe. ;) j.k. man.. I totally understand the ruff cut stuff.
Intro music deceptive lol
We
black sheild
Will rust eat my pipe if i decided to wrap it?
Nah man just make sure it’s not sitting wet for long periods of time if it is wet after a wash or maybe it got caught in the rain then just wait a day or whatever and then take it out to ride to get the pipes hot and that water will evaporate
@@hunterlowe2470 If Uncle Jerry is concerned, use a high temp paint underneath prior to wrapping
and all is good.
@hunterlowe2470 why would you "wait a day or whatever"?- is it going to dry while you are waiting to ride it?
You can in fact wrap the collector. I highly reccomend everyone interested in wrapping their exhaust, watch this video from DEI. ua-cam.com/video/sT6JnrncUSI/v-deo.html
it shows the best way to install a wrap perfectly.
Thats what " all that black" was.
I know you out a ton of work into that custom pipe, so it would be a shame not to use it. But... the 4-1 looks better.
Wrapped is better
Wrap one of the front parts first and then from the back all the way to the front of the other.
Here’s a video for reference
ua-cam.com/video/_Sj2CExHcTQ/v-deo.html
Is the paint needed?
Get a extra pair of hands, let them hold the pipes and turn them, so you have both hands to wrap, also the wrap won't turn in the bucket.
