The staples are supposed to be oriented the other way. ALONG the crack. It makes a much stronger bond. Just like sewing.
Awesome! Thanks for the tip! I wonder how I get anything done not following the directions!
Actually, I have found, Alternating the orientation, with every other one, to be bulletproof, myself! But yes, the rigidity does come from a parallel weld.
Another tip is to actually take a drill on an old pair of nips, and close them, put them in a vice and drill a hole on the cutting edge. Then where the staple makes a 90 degree bend up to the Heating Element, just Nick it at that point. It should be just enough, so you bend the protruding part back and forth once or twice, after cooling, and you will have no metal that is above the surface of the plastic. Looks neater, that way to me, because the nippers supplied still leaves metal, exposed. Drill several holes, in the nippers, and color code to know which ones you drilled, if the staples are different thicknesses.
You will get a stronger joint if you sink the staple straight down half way through the plastic then rotate it about 20 degrees, so that the staple is sandwiched between two untouched sections.
Makes sense, I will try that! Thanks for the tip.
Go in at 45° to crack & then rotate to 90° perpendicular to the crack...15° of rotation. Also to finish up the joint, you may be able to use some Methylene Chloride to chemically weld the rest of the crack. Then while the Methylene Chloride is evaporating, use some sandpaper or such to press in and give the tactile texture. If the plastic is "hazed" kind of like what Superglue (cyanoacrylate) does, you can probably use some silicone oil to re-gloss the surface with. Have Fun Learning!😁👍🏻
Thanks for showing this stapler, I had never seen one of those before 🛠️👍😊
Have had one for many years, works great to lock a broken piece in place so you can plastic weld it easier.
at a great price too. a new tool I didnt know I needed. and yet I do.

A handy tool, to have.
Been looking at these for a while, someone from one of the Citicar groups turned me onto your channel and this video. Are you planning on using this for your Citicar? I’ve got a fair amount of cracking on mine.
once you do a series of stitches, do you need to add any mesh re-enforcement /plastic weld on top of the stitches ? Wouls the opposite side also need a few stitches ?
Doesn't the staple go lengthwise along the crack?? 😂
