      @@redneckcomputergeek Kids usually pickup on stuff like that pretty quick, they're younger, and they're brains are always in the learning stage, especially since for a lot of them they wanna get out and play with the tools anyways....us older people don't care, we just think we know it all LOL.

    I don't use one but I must say after watching this video, I gotta get me one of those staple guns.

    LOL, John, he's the UA-cam Hot Stapler resident expert now. Gotta love that kid.
    They do make a plastic welding gun that uses plastic rods too, not sure if you've tried one of those, but seems like you'd have to be fusing together 2 plastics of the same type for that to work, so the plastic staple idea would work better for patching stuff like you were doing on that hood.

      I have looked into those. Seems to be some big price differences in units and reviews. They are not much different then the tips I make for propane torches to weld zipties

    Ok, you guys did just fine! Here's what you do next; 2"tape everything in place from the outside, from the inside, grind with 24 grit Gorloc discs, knock the burrs of with 80 grit by hand. Then spray with a rattle can adhesion premotor ($35.00 a can), lay plastic sheet rock screen 2" wide along the crack, it will stick. Get you some Problem Plastic repair 2 part epoxy. Mix it up and pile it on, covering the screen. After it dry's, 24 grit the outside and this time go deep like 1/3 the way (skip around the staples), deburr with 80 grit, spray the promoter and mix up some Tigger hair bondo and apply a skim coat. Sand and finish with regular bondo, prime and paint. I do this everyday on brand new cars. Most of the time the people wreck the rental car there in while I'm fixing the other car they wrecked. Women can't drive!

    Drill a hole at the end of the crack maybe help as well? Not certain, though seems like for cast iron is the thing to do. Link to the plastic welding video? I recall watching, though might be handy in the description if you can. Have a good one!

  • @detroitredneckdetroitredne6674

    Can you make your own staples out of your welding wire or stainless steel wire

    • @wildbill23c
      @wildbill23c Рік тому

      Probably could, don't see why you couldn't, you might be able to use electric fence wire too...not sure how large the holes are in the electrodes on that gun, probably could ream them out if you wanted, and use heavier gauge wire.

    I’ve had around 6-8 of those Toro 260 series tractors. The hoods easily crack and break. I have one hood left with about 3 breaks in it. I still have a 265-6 with a Kohler 15hp single cylinder that runs like the day it was new yet has almost 1100 hours. I have a 266-H I still have to dismantle. But I’m in Minnesota so I’m guessing that shipping the parts to you would cost too much.

    Ok Geek I bought a Simplicity, I think it's a 738. It does not have the built in adjustable limited slip axle. However it is a cast iron unit with the input pully for a side shaft motor. I have a machine shop so I'll be making a non-weld locker unit for it. Will it handle a 16 hp Duramax motor, I am not going to speed things up at all. I'm making a crawler, the most it will have to do is turn on concrete ( I've heard no one mention how well that is) and cross a set of rail road tracks. Quid Pro Que. Now I'll help you with the plastic.

    • @redneckcomputergeek
      @redneckcomputergeek  Рік тому +2

      Never touched one of those. A quick google search shows the 738 as a low HP flip belt system. If that is the case that Duromax is 2X the engine it was ever made to take stock. Let alone some simple mods.
