  • I finally got around to dropping these ‪@GuitarfetishTV‬ Guitarfetish GFS RedActive Humbuckers into my Jackson Kelly JS32. I tried to document the install as closely as I could to give you an idea of what to expect and what mistakes to try and avoid. Hope you find the video helpful and if you do, please sub the channel to support it.

    Those pickups look sweet on that guitar. They sound nice as well. Looking forward to your further sound demos with them 🤘

      Thanks man… I’m gonna do a full demo vid in the next month and spend more time dialing in a better sound. The demos for this vid were quick and raw… I can definitely dial them in better… The white definitely gives it a unique look, I’m really happy with how it came out… Thanks for watching! 🤘🎸

    Congrats on getting them in & working ... MANY years ago I tried to get a set to work & never fully could.

      I’ve had really good luck with GFS pickups, this is the second set of RedActives I’ve done. I’ve also got two sets of passives in a couple of Harley Benton’s that are great as well… I’m curious if you remember what the issue was?

      @@FretboardDiaries When gfs sent me the 1st set it was unassembled when i was having issues with the 2nd set they sent me they sent it tested assembled. When it 1st occured it was like totally dead ... 2nd set they sent as a replacement I was able to get it in .. but neck humbucker on its own would connect & be heard .. but middle & bridge position where all broken up & barely hearable ... ended up returning the 2nd set for a refund.
      I though had the redactive singles in a pre-loaded pickguard that where fine till I sold the guitar they where installed on.

      @@Terry3Gs Dang man that’s too bad… At least you were able to get a refund from them.
      The only issue I ever had with them was they sent me a wrong part, and when I contacted them, they rectified it, so I can’t really complain. Mistakes happen…

    Right on. This is the best video on these RedActive pickups out there. I been wanting to put these in something but don't have a project for them. Keep finding myself wanting to either get a solid body nylon guitar or build one myself lol. Might try building a nylocaster with gfs parts.

      Hey thanks for the comment man, if you haven’t seen the video I did on the Hadean Nylon guitar, check it out. It’s a budget solid body Nylon guitar. With a little TLC it’s a great budget option…
      I’ve wanted to do a GuitarFetish build for about 5 years now and just keep putting it off… one of these days 😂…
      I’m gonna do a full demo vid of these in a few months, they’re a great option for a budget instrument. Again Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching 🤘🎸

      I did see that video and that one is pretty sweet. I am a bit torn though because while I want a solid body nylon, at the same time I want a thinline classical like the Ibanez GA35STCE. I got a knock off strat I'm usually throwing some GFS pickup in all the time that might make a decent nylocaster build, and Guitar fetish has the piezo parts so I might just build a solid body and buy the thinline lol

    What are we supposed to do with the ground wire from the bridge (PRS SE 594)?

    • @FretboardDiaries
      @FretboardDiaries  Місяць тому

      Nothing, you don’t need the bridge ground because Actives don’t need to be grounded. Typically they’re shielded internally.

    Well I just bought these to put on my strat to find out that the pickup selector doesn’t fit the pick guard. On the website it said fits strat style guitars, but it’s my fault for not being more careful

    • @FretboardDiaries
      @FretboardDiaries  7 місяців тому

      Curious, which part of the pickup selector didn’t fit? Was it the screw holes that didn’t line up or the blade of the switch didn’t fit through?

      @@FretboardDiariesthe problem is that it’s like a 3 way les Paul style switch, but my pick guard has a cutout for a 5 way strat style switch. I don’t think I’m gonna return it because i can probably make it work somehow
