GFS pups really are some hidden gems. Dropped a power rail (neck) and bigmouth (bridge) with a coil split kwikplug into a used Jackson DK2XR I got for a steal, and for less than a new DK2X have a guitar that screams and has features that would match a $1000 Dinky any day. Planning on using a VEH/Neocoil Noiseless/Lil Killer in a HB Fusion 3 build next month for like a hot HSS/bright HSH kinda feel. Also planning on giving their RedActiveEQs a try in a shootout against my EMGs.
So these would have been an awesome candidate to split coil, problem for me is, I simply never use split coil, so there really wasn’t a point. That said, for those who love to split coil, I’d highly recommend doing that with these. I have 2 sets of Red Actives in different guitars and they’re AWESOME!!! For the price, unmatched really… In my opinion, not quite the punch of EMG, but so close, for the price, it’s a great choice…Highly recommend those… I’ve heard great things about the VEH’s too… gonna try those soon
@Fretboard Diaries Fair enough, personally, its like $5 more for a feature that comes in handy when you can only have 1 guitar with you. Honestly, I'd love to do a set of those in a superstrat (3 DPDT) build, just really customize the tones I get. As for the RedActives vs EMGs, Im a big fan of brighter tone and the EMGs were way too bass heavy for me when I first bought that guitar, so the 3 band EQ on the Redactives is enticing.
@@TheGtrman91 it’s funny you say that because normally I’m like, “I’ll just spend the extra $5 and coil split it…” and pretty much every guitar I’ve modded has this, and I never use it..😂 🤦♂️… So this time I didn’t bother, but I probably should have done it knowing that it was going to be for UA-cam, Particularly since I’m gonna do a demo video… Live and learn…
Those Lil' Killers are great sounding pickups....I have a 15k in the bridge of my Strat.... it's beefy enough for me to get some really good hard rock and metal tones as well. After watching this video, I will probably get the other 2 lower output models. For the money -you can't beat them.
Agreed… I love the fatter tone, definitely a more unique sound for a single coil sized pickup… I find myself playing this guitar more frequently just for the tone 🤘🎸
I’ve had a lot of good luck with GuitarFetish pickups… They’re RedActive line of active pickups is Spectacular 🤩 if you haven’t tried them yet. These lil killers really made this budget Benton come alive! 🤘🎸
Love the lil killers. I got a xavier tele that I put a 10k lil puncher version in the bridge of and it sounds great. Although my new favorite humbucker from GFS is the Loundmouth. I just put the KPH60 14.5k in my single hum strat and it just oozes power. Vintage tone with extra high output they are sick. Perfect for Doom/stoner metal just rips through a fuzz. Highly recommend checking them out if you get the chance. There arn't any real reviews out there so might be worth making a review if you get your hands on a set.

Super happy with the Lil killers in this budget strat, really brings it to life… So far, I’ve used the PowerRails in a Tele, and the RedActives in two different guitars, all are really good for the money… Although I think overall, I like the PowerRails the best
I had the power rails in a LTD M-10 a did about a year ago. Really liked them but imo the loudmouth edges them out. same kind of power but a little clearer sounding to me. I wanna try the redactives but waiting for the right guitar to go down that rabbit hole.

I have those Lil Killers in my Harley Benton Bass-VI (converted to an A-A Baritone and wired with a Freeway 10-pos switch). They are incredible.
