5 Things to know BEFORE you buy a ESP LTD Snakebyte
So I came across a thread on Facebook where a beginner was asking the group, “What things do you guys not like about the LTD Snakebyte?” I based this video off of some of the replies. Really the only thing I wished was different, and that was the scale length.
That said, here’s a video on the 5 biggest complaints I've seen on the James Hatfield Esp Ltd Snakebyte. As always, my advice is to play a guitar before you buy one, but as more and more brick and mortar stores disappear, that becomes harder. With that said, hope you found this video helpful and please consider subbing the channel... Thanks for watching!

Hercules 5 Guitar Stand Review - Is it worth it???
take a super metal guitar and play clean tones. got it.
Damn!!! Is this the best one under the price range of 250$? Or do we have more alternatives? For metal riffing ( Thrash, Heavy)
@@FlorenceViolet-o8u I believe most if not all of the S series are more expensive. That said, I think it’s one of the best options for budget metal and I find myself playing this guitar frequently. I like it so much, I’m probably going to buy the explorer shape soon. 🤘🎸
Where did you get it from?
So I got this from Musician’s Friend and I think this model was an exclusive to Musician’s Friend/Guitar Center… That said, I’ve seen some killer Black Friday deals on the C-6, I believe it was Sweetwater, and only $499… I’d definitely check that out if you’re interested in this guitar
Good to know. I think I'll get it!!! Thank you
What is the length from the top of the headstock to the bottom of the body?
Welp... As a young and broke musician, im thoroughly convinced. One question though, ive been playing for a long time but never learned about intonation. What is intonation?
@@Lusciousriffs Intonation is making sure the guitar is in tuner with both open strings and fretting notes/chords at both ends of the fretboard. It’s not hard to do, although last time I did it in a video, I screwed it up 😂 🤦♂️… If you go to Philip McKnight’s channel, he’s got a great video on how to do it… It’s really not hard to do. How can you tell if your guitar needs it? Well, if the guitar sounds in tune when you play open strings, but is then out of tune when fretting notes/chords, then your intonation is off. Hope this helps
@@FretboardDiaries yo, I actually just watched that video an hour ago. It does look pretty easy. Whenever I get the new axe I'll try it out. Thanks 🤙
First solo sounds like balls in yo jaws
Just ordered one. Amazon had them on sale for $169!
i doubt the radium one is made of real radium, but what material is it then?
I'd love to get one. I'm an explorer guy. BUT $1,500 is more than I am willing to pay for a guitar.
Completely understandable… I bought this new in 2019 and paid just under $1000 for it, which is a lot more reasonable… $1,500 is a considerable increase
I put some Guykers in my Epi Les Paul and they do exactly what they're supposed to do. Just buy them and do it before new tariffs on Chinese imports are enacted.
170 lbs!? c'mon dude
I’m actually a few over 170… Proof that not only is the guitar so large it makes one look smaller, but also hides the dad bod 😂 🤦♂️
I had a gibson V once. I swore off all pointy guitars after it didnt work out for me. I do like this shape, but for me, I’m a round guitar guy. Still dig the tones
Understandable… I’ve always had a propensity towards Explorer shapes, but I get it, it’s not for everyone.
Sweet home Alabama
Great info.
Perfect ☺️👍
🤘🎸😂
I have the Rick style base and it plays amazing!!!
Is this a good guitar for complete guitar newcomers I like the body shape a lot
Absolutely! Fun guitar to mod too…
Probably getting one for christmas from my brother 🤩
Love this guitar
I've got a Harley Benton MultiScale-8 QBB. Apart from a loose wire from the volume pot, it's a really nice instrument. Out of the box it was well set up with no snags on the fingerboard and no noticable blemishes. Considering the price, I would recommend Harley Benton to anyone who's after a decent plank to start playing or even as an upgrade since they're better than many of the lower priced ranges bigger named brands tend to come up with (including higher priced models too)... The volume pot is getting repaired at the moment, and the customer service from Thomann is very good!!! By the way, postage to The Orkney Islands, in the North East of Scotland cost £0.00!!!
I have the same guitar in the same color lol
In that case, check out the video I did where I put GFS Redactive pickups in this guitar… Aside from sounding great, it looks AMAZING 👀🤘🎸
@FretboardDiaries hell yeah 🔥
Show how to hook it up to an amp..
I'd have to take a high end Les Paul. That sound is something I don't have yet. And nothing else has it.
@@wasteddude9387 I’m a bit partial to that Explorer myself… 👀… Although the Greeny LP would be my second choice
@FretboardDiaries yup. One of the reasons I didn't choose the explorer is because I have one. Sorta... it's a green flame burst Westcreek. Close enough.
There was way too much talking and not enough showing the actual wrap.
That’s pretty sigma
I’d like to know where you got that chain lol
@@gypsytears22352 I got that in high school as a birthday gift some 30 years ago… I lost it shortly there after… Fast forward to 2018, when my Mom passed away, my Dad found it in her jewelry box. I’ve worn it ever since… I have no idea where she got it, it was before the internet was even a thing 😂… Maybe I need to figure out how to have some molded from gold and sell them, but as of now, I don’t know where it came from unfortunately 🤘🎸
I bought the RedActive pickups for my Squier Classic Vibe strat when they first came out. I followed the instructions but I could not fit the electronics under the pickguard no matter how I tried. I brought it in to my local Guitar Center and asked the tech to install them as I was clueless. The tech was unable to do so and sent the guitar to another GC in Boston where the tech was more experienced. That tech struck out too and sent the guitar back to the first GC. So I went to pick the guitar up and the tech was happy to say that he had finally installed them - the only problem was that his install included a volume pot with an extra long shaft that stuck out from the guitar about 1/2 inch! I haven't played the guitar much since then. Your video indicates that GFS has improved the install process. I am thinking about installing the GFS hot rails. I could have really used your video way back then! Maybe you can shoot one using the RedActive strat pickups? Thank you!
I’ll be honest and say I simply don’t remember if GFS changed their design or not. I think they did, but I’m not certain. What I can tell you is that their solderless system connects on the bottom and can apparently cause some issues fitting in with pickup height. On an older guitar I did (before I was doing UA-cam) I used a dremel to notch out the route in the guitar to make them fit. I don’t recommend this unless you really know what you’re doing. That said, if you check my channel, you’ll see I have a video of their Lil Killers (not active) going into a Harley Benton Strat. Pickup height was extremely close. They fit, but Barely… Again due to the input on the bottom of the pickup. I do think their pots are smaller, fitment there hasn’t been an issue… With regards to single coil GFS redactives… I’ll definitely do a video at some point when I have a budget strat to mod, probably will be sooner rather than later 🤘🎸
@@FretboardDiaries The poor fit was in the control cavity. The pickups fit fine. This was within the first month that the pickups came out several years ago. They didn't have the Kwikplug system yet. Back then I was terrified to try modding any guitar - especially after the guitar techs had so much difficulty! Now I have some experience and I was inspired by your Lil Killers install video! Thanks for the reply!
Ill be polishing with this method! Thank you!
Harley Benton's only really come into their own in the £250 plus bracket.
A quick couple of things… 1.) The music you hear in the background is an actual demo recorded with this amp using a backing track… 2.) This portable practice amp is available on Amazon, I’m not going to use affiliate links, just search “JOYO Jam Buddy” 3.) You guys are AWESOME!! And thanks for watching!!!
Excellent video! Im new to these different bridge types... is this bridge considered floating bridge as well or is it a different category itself?
Right on man, thanks for the kind words… So, as I received my guitar, the bridge was not floating, as it only really moved one way. But these bridges can be adjusted to float, I just didn’t both either mine. Floating bridges typically move up and down with ease
@@FretboardDiaries Thanks man! but would you say it goes out of tune easily if say you do a dive bomb?
I only trust Hercules with guitar finishes. All others will rub off.
I’ve looked at this cause I don’t wanna route/hack my vintage Gibson Explorer. But I finally got to hear it on straight up metal distortion. I cant find any vega trem system models for tune o matics
that cut-away is sick, like it!
Honestly one of the best budget Metal guitars available… The longer I’ve had this guitar, the move I love it. Hard to beat for the money 🤘🎸
@@FretboardDiaries yeah for the price ,they seem allright, (as a Swede) I like Ola and support him and also watch his channel. Sure, if you want one as a "above beginner" player, one would mayhaps upgrade some stuff..but im actually bethinking to get one, for multiple reasons xP
@ralphieralph9176 Honestly, I’m not sponsored by them, or have any affiliation, but this guitar has become one of my favorite metal rhythm guitars to jam on. It’s simple, basic, with great tone and overall has a good fit and finish at a budget price. I plan on getting the Explorer shape soon, simply because I love this one so much…
Yes
firewood is cheaper and sounds better.
No Jet guitars ?
@@charleswind8298 I keep hearing about them… Definitely coming soon 🤘🎸
just ordered one!
Awesome review, thanks for your great work! :)
Thank you! And thanks for your support 🤘🎸
Be careful. Mine on fusion t fnt HH the plate on the trem has a small e string '10s' indentation or groove cut into the plate where it rides against it when stringing up where the tension sits. 4 years or so ive had it. Brilliant guitar but i was breaking e string on 15 or 17th fret 1.5 step or so bends. Insane i looked to see why this could be happening and string breaking at same spot...I took a pic with my s22 phone and used the zoom on pic and there it was a little wear into the plate. Sucks. I am hoping i can somehow put a piece of plastic or something or sand it a little idk. I love the guitar. If all fails ill order another bridge.
@@robertclarkguitar This issue isn’t unheard of, particularly with budget guitar bridges, although typically, Wilkinson is better than that. That said, typically sanding or filing the area can fix it, hopefully you can get it resolved.
Damn, it waked nostalgic feelings, looking like an Atari 2600.
Haha it does have a kind of retro 80’s electronics look to it…
There he is! There's the man!
What’s good man! Hope all is well! 🤘🎸
@@FretboardDiaries Yeah, bro. Got it goin on. Gear shopping, man. Workin on a semi-circular pedalboard for 30-ish pedals. Don't know if it'll work out. I gotta get a consult with a metals engineer I used to know. Or it all bites the dust rotflmao! Smoke in a bottle, dude. Smoke in a bottle.
@@wasteddude9387 I took my entire board apart… I’m gonna make something myself but simplify it down, too many pedals made it too heavy. So we’ll see, it’s pretty far down on the project chart 😂
. Dude.... uh, no offense, but you play magnitudes better than I thought. You couldn't do some of that unless you been playin for a while.
@ Haha thanks man… I’m actually really out of playing shape, so I’m gonna work on a practice schedule soon. But yeah, I’ve been playing 30 years… I really appreciate the kind words as always 🤘🎸
I am putting one on my Telecaster FMT HH And with split coil, it can go hardcore Tele.. A very amazing guitar. It can pretend it is a Les Paul. Just lacking a Trem. I have some really upscale guitars, but this one is so much for the money. I'll have a couple holes to drill, and the factory bridge is four screws into wood that will need to be filled. String spacing is spot-on. Other than that, the chrome job needed a bit more prep, but you wouldn't notice it from six feet away. Trem bar height is gonna work. I'll report finished details and comments shortly. Oh, and THANKS FOR THE VIDEO!!!! Mark
Sounds pretty awesome man... Love a good custom tele... Definitely report back and let us know how the install goes
Awesome ❤ love the new place too
Thanks Paul!
got mine for 57$ on amazon prime day (oct 8th 9th ) no joke it had a 50% coupon came pretty good worth it not gonna lie
It’s funny, I find myself playing this guitar more and more… I may do a setup vid at some point, and replace the humbucker
Pretty compact easy practice setup. Joyo does some good stuff
Indeed, I’ve had a blast with this little thing… It’s been great sitting around the fire pit… In fact, it’s caused me to think about maybe doing a live stream around the fire pit… 😂
Not only 2 guitars, you can buy 30kg of any equipments for that $60 shipping charge
🤨…..🤔…. This could be trouble 🤣
God bless you and rock it good🙏🤘🔥
Right on, thank you! 🤘🎸
Does it come with metric and SAE threaded bolts or will it fail to thread with supplied bolts into sae threaded Made in USA guitar, and you have to swap plugs?
You'll likely have to swap the plugs... It only came with supplied Metric, so you'd have to use those.
