    As always, agree with your perceptions and insights on life in China. Safety is the biggest difference between China and the United States. In fact, after living in China, I no longer want to return to the US. It doesn’t mean I “dislike” or “disapprove” of the USA. I just feel it isn’t a good choice for me any longer. Happy to say I was recently offered a promotion and can stay in Beijing at least two more years.😊

    Perhaps it’s more quiet or calmer because Chinese still practice “propriety”, like respect for elders or being considerate or stuff like handing things to you with both hands, but this is slowly disappearing; the western culture of using only one hand is creeping in, the culture of individualism.😢I hope it’ll not be overwhelmed by western influence because it would be a pity.😢

    If the biggest thing to adjust to is the idea that we are safe there says more about where we come from than China itself. But as far as I'm concerned I always feel relatively safe anywhere I've been in the world, regardless of the place's reputation - we should always be confident yet alert (and of course the golden rule don't be a di*khead!) - people that are overly paranoid about danger actually attract danger imo

      @ForAllLifesAdventures  2 роки тому +1

      @pakgurudichina 2 роки тому

      Hi Iain, thanks for your quick reply. In my case, the rent payment is covered to a certain amount by my employer as long as I am able to show them the fapiao. I assume hotels would always be able to give a fapiao, right? In my calculation, it's still within the budget and even cheaper than renting an apartment coz I don't need to pay extra money for electricity and water bills (which are not covered by my employer). By living in a hotel, I don't even need to deal with making-up the room. :)
      So, if you have time I would appreciate if you could tell me about your experience when living in a hotel for months when you first came? Did you book all the nights before coming to China? I'm so anxious coz I heard some foreigners were rejected by hotels despite their confirmed bookings. Lastly, what makes you move and not live in a hotel anymore? Thx.

    • @ForAllLifesAdventures
      @ForAllLifesAdventures  2 роки тому +2

      @@pakgurudichina hi, I would recommend a hotel apartment as it is easier. One payment each month and you avoid some of the hidden costs from renting an apartment locally.
      The challenge you will have is to save up the deposit money as some places will want to have four months in advance of four months down as deposit and then the month you are renting so that would be five months.
      I would say shop around and play the market as there are many places to rent and prices have come down.
      If you know someone locally or if you can get assistance from your company then that is a big help and can reduce the stress. That said people in China are very helpful and are supportive and will guide you through any process.
      I moved from a hotel once I had saved up the money to make the deposit on a rental but I had local help and I share the costs.
      My experience has always been decent when moving and renting apartments and I would say make sure the contract is in English and Chinese and keep a signed copy of both, you and they sign both. 👍
      Make sure there are no hidden costs and negotiate that and ensure that is in the contract - it usually always is so just check.
      My recommendation would be to stay in a hotel and get your bearings and understand the city you are moving too. Then look at areas you can, want and able to move to and don’t worry about safety etc as China is very safe but just be sensible. 👍

      It is indeed a problem, but not for those who married Chinese. And that is one of the reasons foreigners have different opinions on their living experience in China. Most of them actually live in a bubble and can only judge China by its face value, some of them have positive view, others negative. The real China is, I would say, a normal society. But safety is indeed the biggest advantage of living in China.

I don’t worry too much about what people are saying and I know I am living a decent life but the big factor for me is that it is a safe environment, no real hassle and just a lot less stressful. @@PlasticExtrusionProfiles I think it will be a good one, I am hoping to go to the suburbs but transport might be a challenge this year as most people I know have heading back to their hometown and as the city stops in celebration Taxi's etc are hard to get. The last time I cycled back at 1 in the morning which was an amazing experience... this year, because of a shoulder injury I might not be able to do that!!

      Or you can see it for what it is, a video highlighting the failure of the western governments to reduce poverty, look after their people, avoid police murdering and brutality and to stop war. See my friend, it is all in the education and you should look for some. Thanks for dropping by mate. You comment has changed the world. 👍🏼

      @@ForAllLifesAdventures What you are describing is exactly what the Chinese dictatorship does. Thanks for your support. Anyway the ccp will disappear like the ussr, the peoples always get the dictators out, freedom always wins. Nazis, Fascists, Pol pot, Imperial Japan, Communism, bye bye. The West is not perfect but you can think as you want and say it, that's freedom, and not being able to buy a second microwave
