The only body style or Riviera I was never crazy about. Even when I was young I thought they looked like a fancy LeSabre. But this one is a beauty! Hard to beat the 60s, boat tails and finally the 79 - 85.
This Riv is on the B Body platform, the same as the LeSabre, so it basically is just that. The 403 engine and the 4 wheel disc brakes were options specific to the Riv.
I like them because they are rare. Only made 2 years. However, you can tell by the instrument panel and dash that it is a fancy 2 door LeSabre or Electra 225.
Me either I liked the ones before it the 76 and back and the ones after it 79-85 after that it's hit and miss for me
What a BEAUTIFUL Buick survivor!
Absolutely beautiful, a real find! Hope it finds a home with someone who'll take great care of it.
I had an 81 & an 85 Buick Riviera...talk about "deep ride"! The suspension makes you feel like you're floating down the road. My Mom said (from the back seat) that it was the most comfortable car she'd ever been in. Another person said my back seat was more comfortable than her living room sofa. I put big miles on them too. GREAT CARS!
Beautiful Riviera!! Cruising in Style with a beautiful ride.
Beautiful Buick. Was the car originally white? It has a red painted pin strip & green interior.
I HAVE TO ADMIT THIS IS A GORGEOUS WHITE 1978 BUICK RIVIERA!
The best thing about this video for me is the 8 track. The song that was playing was Aretha Franklin!
Nothing but nothing like the 1963 Riviera. The 1978 is like a luxurious Monte Carlo.
My nu '78 Riviera was all white, but, dash, steering wheel & rug was red. 403 4bbl(Olds)no floor console available. Lamp monitors, posi, speed alert(,no cruise) power trunk release, 4note horn, auto locks, & seatbacks
60/40 leather seats. Auto antenna chrome road wheels with vogue tires. Changed da headlights to halogens, got en @ Lincoln dealers. Tilt wheel Only. Da ride sumhow was NOT as smooth as da prior car, but, it was sporty & 4whl disc were gr8. I can imagine dis car with Today's Technology. ❤🇺🇸❤🇺🇸
Like this Riviera, with the exception of the green dash and green carpet!.. Would have been exceptional in a light gray!....Owned a new gorgeous 76 model and an Elegant 79 , that just still looks timeless today!....
I had a black 78 that I bought in 81 when I was 21. Black paint, black landau roof and black interior. Got some kidding from friends for having a gangsta ride but insurance was less than getting a sport or muscle car. A real plus was that it was a great car for dating in. Back seat was like a couch.
Stunning Riviera 😈💙👍
Awesome ride, Cherry!
When I was 21 in 1981 I bought a 78 that was triple black. Wanted a Trans-Am but couldn't swing the insurance cost at that point so I "settled" for a luxury car. I was fresh out of college and dated a lot of young ladies in that car. It was really the best choice for me at that time. It was very reliable and just an all around great ride. They were appointed as well as a Caddy and some interior parts such as door panels were the same. There were indicators for the front lights located in little housings on the front fenders to show when headlights and turn signals were operational. Same thing for rear lights and brake lights to small indicators located at top of rear glass on the inside. It was done by using fiber optic cables. I thought that was pretty cool considering the time period. I still think of that car a lot and wish there were still some personal luxury coups being made by American companies. Paid 5500 for mine with about 30,000 on it.
I had a 78 Riviera in 2 tone blue. Bought it for $100 and ran it for a year, then gave it to my brother who ran it for another 3 years.
That's a beauty.
2:56 - thank you! I was wondering about that as you show it. Now we talkin'!
I actually dig this body style riviera so nostalgic and elegant the landau roof is the epitome of the 70s
The 1978 REVI was the Flagship luxury coupe with a sticker price higher than Buick’s most popular luxury sedan, Electra Park Avenue.
The Rivera was in my opinion the best thing Buick offered because 1977&78 was a downsizing year for GM. It was more in keeping ahead with the newest improvements, such as four wheel disc brakes, suspension improvements, electronic controls temperature or climate control and unique Rivera design.
This was the airline pilot, young doctor and lawyers type of American made car. They look drive and handle better than most of the competitors. (Chrysler couldn’t compete and Ford downsized its Thunderbird to a cheaper version of years past).
I owned many GM vehicles from 1976-1990, regretfully I never owned this Revi design but I did drive it while contemplating buying one.
Wow wow what a beautiful buick, superb car 🤟 😎 cool
That thing was pampered. Hardly driven.
Beautiful car.
Love the smooth running Oldsmobile 403
I have never seen a car with a white interior have a green dash and carpet. Most white interior cars had black dash and carpet. This Riviera interior is rare indeed.
Yes, I would agree the white with green dash and carpet were rare. I personally find this combo attractive! My dad was a big Buick Electra guy. He and I spent lots of weekends at the local Buick dealership in the late 70’s and 80’s looking at vehicles. I would argue the suggestion most white Riviera’s had black carpet and dashboards. Instead, they would have had burgundy dashboards and carpet.
Ah, the LeSiera/Riviabre!!!!!
Wow breathtaking Riviera its the last of the rear wheel drive then in 79 they were converted to front wheel drive
The rarest Riv. Only 2 model years. Don't like it as much as the next FWD gen but this thing in white is hard to ignore. Add those rallys and it is gorgeous to no end. And that mileage! 45 year old car with only 18,000 miles. Too late to put mileage on it. Or use it as a weekend only cruiser. Outstanding!
Just gorgeous!
Beautiful, in 78 I had da same car with da Oldsmobile 403. Limited slip, Astroroof, VOGUE tyres, 4 wheel disc, for a luxury coupe it was quite Sporty. LampMonitors, chrome wheels. I truly missed it. Didn't like da nextyears fwd setup. My interior was red. When better cars are built Buick will build them. 🇺🇸 man U can eat off Ur engine compartment.
Looks good but under tighter scrutiny.... Fuel gage needle appears to jump back and forth during the drive, right turn signal may not be operative and if mine eyes do not deceive me... did I not detect a fair bit of overspray when he opened the hood?? Could this be a repaint?? I'd have to have hands-on/in person look before I dropped 30 grand on one. It'd a beauty, but possibly only skin deep, as they say??
Yes on the paint over spray but overall the paint looks great.
You were a fool to buy a Cadillac when you could have this and a weekend at Vegas too.
Can’t believe how nice it was kept!
Wow!
Love this car
Rear wheel drive?
I owned a 78 riv 75th anniversary great car
Back "in the day", an AVERAGE ride! NOW AN EXCEPTIONAL VALUE!
nice car , it looks clean , still looks very new , !
Hell yeah 78 Buick Riviera personal luxury back in the day float like a Cadillac the cousin Buick lesabre sister
That's my kind of ride love it time to get a loan only live once enjoy it
WOW” this car is beautiful the previous owner really babied it!
I love this car, smh why don't they bring all the older vehicles back with new technology and safety features, I'm talking just remake everything but better. ..
Its crazy that this car has optional rear abd fromt disk brakes incredible
Beautiful car, but where can I get 8-tracks?
Ebay
Beautiful condition. Not the most popular Riviera generation, though. The following generation, the 6th, was a smash hit. This generation looked too much like a 2-door LaSabre, and the 2-door Electra looked more grand.
Look at that. What happened to American manufacturing . This is so nice 😢
My grandmother had one like this. I think hers was a '77.
Nice car
dang its like everything i ever wanted in a car
@Unique Classic Cars
Just sayin' ....... it appears that the driver's seat is slightly forward of the passenger seat, indicating that it is *not* a split-bench seat but in fact 2 bucket seats.
Oh my wow!!!!
Holy smokes it's pretty!! What are the date codes on those old Firestone 721's? They look brand new! Someone is getting a very nice machine. Is the headliner sagging or is it button tufted for appearance? I couldn't tell.
The only thing I don't like is that mint green dashboard.
nice
Do you still have it ?
NA BAD .BAT 28000. . NO WAY .
Wow.
I never considered this to be a Riviera. It's basically a le sabre.
💎💎💎
I want this car
nice,but overpriced
I bought it, its in tha garage she is my baby

كأننا لا نعرف شي
Unique classics are always 10k-20k overpriced on 70's 80's vehicles
At $28,,9, this ride will be there for awhile........ Crap year for Riv, Crap green........ Nice shape though.....
@@andrewandres148 already sold thanks
@@uniqueclassiccars If you got anything more then 20k, you could sell a bucket of coal to a wildfire fighter....
Personally I thought this was the ugliest of the Rivieras.
Armrests are basically the same as those on my Caddy. 😁 then again, both are GM. It's nice.
