- I start this how to video with the armature that I began developing many years ago for my own dolls to help me make my dolls able to stand on their own without the need for a bulky doll stand. I am adding this tutorial for polymer clay and paper clay doll makers and the pattern itself would be an easy pattern for cloth doll artist who would like to have a simple way to make a nice leather boot that is not only attractive but can flex without tearing. Which can happen with glove leather. It is a one-piece pattern I am including but for a polymer form on a very slender ankle, you can use a 3 piece pattern(which will be on my FB page also) if you do not plan to do much bending of the ankle. To acquire the pattern please visit my FB pages. The link is below. I actually recorded this tutorial about 2 years ago but for personal reason, I never edited it or posted it. Life interferes with art more than you might realize. Anyway, I wanted to share this. I will be putting together a full armature video soon as well. The hows and why's of the best armature I have ever created that took 10 years of trial and error to perfect and how to make it. The glue I recommend for adhering the leather to the clay after baking is Fabric tac and be sure to let it dry fully before trying to pose the foot.
