Thanks for the tips! I'm in KL right now and I got the Prince Court health screening a few days ago. It was very comprehensive and affordable. I was quite satisfied.
I just went to the Prince Court Medical Centre in KL and they make Canada's Health care look like a 3rd world country... The high level specialist I spoke with (trained in UK) actually talks to you like a human being with A kind smile, the staff are friendly and the ultra modern equipment and level of medical sophistication blew my mind! It was worth every cent spent!

Funny story. I have been watching Nomad Capitalist for a few years now, it has helped motivate and keep me disciplined. I just started my first international trip from the USA. My first stop was Kuala Lumpur. The very first day as I'm walking through the Pavillion, who do I see? Andrew himself.

I can easily retire in the Bay Area (Cali) but when I went to Malaysia I was hooked and got my mm2h visa. Great people, great food and your money (US) is worth over 4x as much. Oh, no guns and everyone speaks English too!!!! Good infrastructure too and healthcare access (private plans) are supposedly excellent. Need I say more????

Went to north Thailand, I only saw Buddhist temples, no mosques, no Hindu temples, no churches and no Christmas tree even it was Christmas Day when I was there. Like SG, I like KL, Malaysia mostly roads and transportation are systematic , well organised and sophisticated.. clean and not much pollutions.. I don't like tuk-tuks like in some other countries which are messy, chaotic, dirty and caused more pollutions..

I wholeheartedly agree about the Malaysian people. They are the most wonderful friendly, helpful people I've ever known. I am on my second MM2H and have no intention of ever leaving this great country.
But they got a case of Thai logic and doublex the requirements.

As a Malaysian, I agree that this is a nice country with some drawbacks. The advantage of living here is paying a third-world country price and getting almost a first-world quality of life. However, the drawback lies in the poor efficiency of the government sector and their attitude. The loose control of traffic by the police leads to many unlawful phenomena, such as double parking, parking almost in the middle of the road, causing traffic blockages, motorcyclists beating the traffic lights, and the police are doing nothing about it. I think if our authorities impose heavier restrictions and make more efforts, Malaysia will surely be a much better place.

@@nsaffini1975 malas say malas lah, u go to KLIA security screening look at those officers, most of the time they are playing with their handphones and nobody's luggage has been filtered to open up and make a second checking. Compared to the overseas security screening, u know those officers in malaysia airports are not doing their jobs.

I come to KL every 3-4 weeks, more or less, and absolutely love it.
I went to Malaysia with my family as tourist spent 3 weeks in KL, Cameron Highlands, Penang and Langawi very beautiful, friendly and safe.
AGREED 100%. Malaysians are not bureaucratic and their policies are for the people.. no matter what the media paints. Im a Singaporean who compares our bureaucratic democracy which has made people really uptight. I hope Malaysia will never change...

As a Malaysian who has worked in the US, I became more appreciative of my country Malaysia after I returned home. Seriously, when I was in the US, close to half of my monthly wages went to home rental, health insurance and taxes, what the heck. I even became nervous sending my kids to school in the US seeing news of school shootings every few months. This was the same period of time when Sandy Hook elementary shooting happened. Even with health insurance, I felt extremely nervous thinking of the possibility of myself or any of family members getting sick knowing the insurance does not cover everything. Would I work there again, definitely not. Would I visit as a tourist, for sure.
Married to a local, and had an amazing experience always. We have properties and overall is a great place 👍

Hello Mr H, I watched this presentation back in October perhaps - long story longer, on my 19 hour flight to KL I picked up a virus of some sort and remembered this information about Prince Court and finally went there after a couple of weeks of the illness and let me say that the hospital there was top notch ! Immediate care upon walking in with a full diagnostic work up and prescription before leaving the building within three hours for under $200. USD Prince Court is #1 .

I agree with everything Andrew says here. Im actually here in Malaysia right now and I can wholeheartedly say, IM IMPRESSED.
The Malaysian people are so friendly and nice. I get so much smiles and so many hellos its actually insane. I've been spending most of my time in Thailand so I will also say, the food in Malaysia isn' t as good as the food in Thailand. But in general, the pros are that the people are so kind, I've had very good conversations with random people I've met in Grab or on the street or at cafes and everyone was very very kind. I've been told to please enjoy their country and have a great stay at least 3/4 times in the past day and a half of being here.
I thought I was sold on Thailand but man, Malaysia has me on the fence. Great Country, great people, very clean and orderly, I haven't seen a single person be rude or disrespectful. Worth at least a visit if even just to see the Petronas Towers (which are stunning by the way).

Asia is really the future, there's nothing like it anywhere else in the world. Those that have travel to asia know what I'm talking about. Asian culture are more soft spoken.
Asian culture is always associated with collectivist cultures as individualistic behavior is always frowned upon by the public. Are you being confrontational? Well, congrats you just made people around you hate you even though you're on the right side.
I went there and travelled the length of the country. I found it very hot and the food was more suited to an Asian palate. The people were friendly and it was light years ahead in development than other Asian countries. The railways really impressed me.

Malaysia is the Truly Unique Melting Pot Asia,furthermore no language barrier, affordable luxury lifetyle either in property or tourism even the diversity food is the best you could find in Asia,living LA for more than 6years,will relocate back to KL(kepong) from march 2024 after enough is enough for me what happened to me in LA ..cut the story short..time to move to my beloved country Malaysia forever..i told my America friends about MM2H revised program recently,if you compare the cost of living for retirement,Malaysia is the Top tire option in Asia, literally the best as my experience told me in LA!!!

Islamic stronghold with predominate Muslim population
i had my first lockdown in KL on March 16 or 17 of 2020. They had about 300 cases at this time, and locked down the whole city. I have some pretty cool pics of walking through the city while it being a ghost town. My friend there lost 1 million in stock in his luxury fashion boutique, as they shut down the mall and stopped the air con.
I left on one of the last planes going out there and had to go to KUL by train, as no taxi would take me without a mask - they were sold out everywhere.
Funny memory in retro-perspective, just came up when you did talk about the lockdown.
P.S. The health check is great, will be done on my next visit to KL!
Sounds bad
The movement control/lockdown was announced on the 16th, started on the 18th of March 2020. I was in KL visiting my siblings and ended up living with them for 4 months. 😂
The best country that can instantly make you feel really calm down, relax & not worry about every penny you spend.
I found people in Malaysia and Indonesia to be very friendly, those countries really stand out in terms of culture of kindness. Of course there are bad apples like everywhere but the general mood is positive and kind, you will also be happier compared to western countries dog eat dog mentality

It goes without saying that, unless they have behaved strangely towards you, those who are kind to you will return the favour. One of the friendliest people in Southeast Asia is the Malaysian. We Malaysians are inherently very happy when we hear that someone is happy with us. Thus, Malaysians are naturally keen to find out if guests are satisfied with our offerings and whether they feel comfortable while they are in our country.

There's a Penang for you if you want city life but it's near the beach. But the city of Penang still can't beat KL tho.

Go to Terengganu or Pahang, abt 2.5 hr drive for beautiful beaches n islands. Check out Pulau perhentian, pulau redang, pantai telok chempedak kuantan. There r many YT vlogs about these places

6:50 That's one thing that would seal the deal for me, here in Sweden our healthcare has been frequently budgeted down since the 90's. Nowadays it can take months before you get a 10 minute visit with a doctor that barely gives half a sh!1, sometimes doesn't even check your medical journal and doesn't listen to you. Takes sometimes at least the same amount of time to get a follow up, if they can be bothered to do that. There's also an extreme reluctance to do basic tests, quite allot of horror stories where lack of testing results in cancer not being discovered until it's gotten beyond the point of being able to be treated.

Even if you dont get the MMH2, the 90 day tourist visa makes KL a great place to live part of the year.
We just spent 4 weeks in Malaysia. Two weeks in Georgetown Penang and two weeks in Kuala Lumpur. We loved the people, the culture, the food and the fact that it's very affordable. We didn't like the extremely hot and humid weather and the fact that it's not the most walkable country. With that said, would we live there? No. Would we visit again? Absolutely! Also, we wanted to get a health
screening while in Georgetown but they were booked for weeks. Maybe next time 😊
I want to move from Canada but as a non wealthy individual, it's a lot harder since I rely on employment..
Nothings wrong with being employed. You have to figure out how to move that employment online.

Malaysia is the best
I do like Malaysia, just returned from a month there. There is a lot of incredible infrastructure and resort real estate development, surely great investments. My personal issue, though, is the tropical heat. I'm afraid it's too much for me, and causes me health problems every time I go there.
Genting is only 45 minutes away from KL. Enjoy the mountain view and yhe clean air.
@@khairulanwar5212 Yes I've been there just once! I stuck with my "system" and won money! However, we don't normally visit KL. I am thrilled to say I've been up the amazing Petronas Towers. Also been to the caves at Ipoh. Penang is our usual destination. Great food!

I was born in Malaysia and lived in KL for 30 years before I decided to leave a couple of months ago.
Totally agree with all the positives that you mentioned (though majority of the points pertain to mostly KL) Would also like to add : Great food (missing it every day!)
The reason I left isn't really pertinent to most people, but with the new government, Malaysia - I feel, is slowly turning into Singapore, mostly from a personal liberties point of view.
Which I realize is a weird thing to say since everyone view SG as the shining beacon of Asia - but the thing that made Malaysia a great place to live in, as a LOCAL, was the lack of enforcement on oppressive laws :
As long as you kept your head down, lived in the posh parts of the country, (essentially lived like a tourist) don't talk about certain topics, they left you alone and you can live a pretty good life, sorta like Thailand, but better.
And in the event you do get disturbed, you could pay it off and sort of buy your liberties, i.e. "soft freedom". But with the new government, police are given quotas and incentives (amongst many other factors) and it's causing a lot of real-life unhappiness in general.
I don't want to get into too much specifics as to not dissuade people from giving Malaysia a chance, since for most people it's fine. Different strokes for different folks - in fact some would think the negatives I mentioned are actually positives in their world view.
Viewers : Definitely consider Malaysia, a lot of great things. (Did I mention the FOOD?!!) ASEAN countries are generally tough on their citizens but lax on foreigners, especially westerners.

@brianleon79 hey Brian it's just a difference in our world views and priorities when it comes to country selection. (Absolute freedom of speech being one of mine) If you're happy in KL/SG then I'm glad you found the right place for you 😀
Having said that there are great people in both countries ☺️ I do frequent SG for holidays and back to KL whenever I'm missing the food. In fact I'll be back in KL for CNY

@brianleon79 Singapore has had the same political party (People's Action Party) in power since 1959. It's effectively a one party state because PAP has always had an overwhelming majority of seats in the Parliament. Technically, other political parties do exist but they are not truly what one would call an opposition.
Malaysia is a bit more democratic and allows for more plurality of opinion (for example, there are on ocassion public protests and demonstrations happening in Malaysia which are virtually unheard of in Singapore) but not by much.
@@brianleon79 it's one of those things probably not relevant to 90% of people, especially foreigners. It just was for me. Give both countries a chance, you might find the right one for you!
The thing I've learned from this channel is to incorporate various countries to build a holistic plan for myself, which is what I'm doing.
Malaysia for food/family, Singapore for shopping/vacation, the US & UK for business, Dubai for crypto stuff, and for longer stays I've found New Zealand and Argentina to be nice. Cambodia was a surprisingly positive experience.
For shorter stays : Taiwan, Thailand & Bali.
Still exploring every day to find the best place for me :)

Make comparison between Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore
I agree with most of what Andrew states, but it isn’t all roses and sunshine in Malaysia. The legislation, policies and rules change all the time, it makes it in some ways unpredictable. Labuan as a taxfriendly destination is undergoing changes all the time, MM2H is changing, all this makes for an unpredictable situation, when moving wealth or oneself to Malaysia.
Hope more usa and japan people come and stay in malaysia.

Briefed the taxes. If your a US citizen and a tax resident of Malaysia there is No Tax Treaty Agreement. You will pay taxes on foreign income brought into Malaysia. Additionally understand like in Thailand that Tax Rate is created for someone earning approximately 3 times less. This means you will Easily jump into the higher tax rates. This is in addition to the US Taxes you pay.
Territorial. Any income earned outside malaysia isn't taxed. People from the USA get a raw deal almost everywhere.
I heard that Malaysia had planned to tax remittance brought into the country starting in 2022 but decided later to postpone this to 2025 or 2026. If they do decide to implement this tax, it could be a deal breaker.
If there is no tax treaty between Malaysia and the USA, I was told the rate imposed is 30% which is rather high. Not sure if the progressive tax rates for the locals will apply to foreigners. Do you know how the taxes are implemented for foreigners?

You most definitely can go broke in USA with a single healthcare emergency if you are typical middle class person. Rich no because you can’t pay for it and poor no because the government will pay for it. I had a friend recents who almost lost everything he had.

Dann hätte ich auch die Möglichkeit des Auslandssemesters wahrgenommen und hätte ein halbes Jahr in Yogyakarta, Indonesien studiert. Aber das weiß man immer erst danach..

So ganz ohne Qualifikation konkurriert man im Ausland echt am absolut untersten Ende des Lohns, mit Leuten aus noch viel ärmeren Ländern.
