  • Hey guys! I’m thinking of making video updates as time goes on owning my Crosstrek. I love this little SUV and will be on the road with it everyday!
I’m planning on driving it to 300 thousand miles and maybe set a new challenge then. Reaching that goal by servicing my car religiously. Do you think I can do it?! Support me by subscribing and following with me on this mission! Suggestions and tips are appreciated!

A spider nest was inside the intake of my Honda Civic; shortly after I purchase it, I realized something was wrong. My fuel economy plummeted, the nest caused a valve to be stuck open and the car to throw a signal. The shop manager said 27 years doing this and I’ve never seen that.

I have a 2018 Crosstrek that I love to death. What I do NOT like about it are the very outdated graphics display between the gauges and the too big infotainment screen. It actually gets in the way. Forward to 2023 and 2024. OP the gauges etc. that you have in your new Crosstrek are the exact same thing in all Subarus. The almighty Outback has the same outdated graphics etc. as well.

Can you tell us what region do you live in? Is it primarily parked outside? Is the Subaru extended warranty purchased directly from Subaru through their website or do you buy it through the dealership at the time of purchase?
I'm considering a new Impreza, but a small part of me still wants to consider a Crosstrek. I've been in a Honda/Toyota family for all my life but wanting to try Subaru for the first time as my next vehicle so any other thoughts on purchasing advice and experience would be welcomed. Thanks for sharing thoughts of ownership!

The warranty is purchased through the dealer and you don’t have to buy it when you buy the car so shop around for the best price.
It’s always parked outside and well cleaned at the car wash inside and out. I’m on the northeast so she gets to drive and park on pretty much all types of weather. Maintenance will always be done before the mileage and time intervals described on the owners manual and I plan on keeping her for a very long time.
Honestly, you can’t go wrong with either but why not get the Crosstrek for the ground clearance? It drives like a car. I was going to buy an Impreza for the sound system but the extra ground clearance means less worry driving through bumps and unleveled entrances.

Will carrying out your own servicing affect your warranty...check the small print.

We only have just under 2000 miles on or 24 2.0 l premium that we have owned since late Sept. My wife is the primary driver and uses it for short lass than 5 miles trips to watch the grandkids. It has been on two 150 mile plus one way trips. I like the car more than she does, she still misses her chevy camaro that was totaled back in July. I like the adaptive cruise control with lane centering, she dislikes the lane centering. We both dislike that we have to manually turn off the engine stop/start at stop light feature. When we get the mail and are backing up the driveway with her passenger seatbelt off, the safety belt chime is annoying. She does not think the non power, non heated seats are comfortable, but I do.

PS: in Mi snow and ice the oem yokohama geolanders are sub par, have a set of Michelin cross climate 2 scheduled for install next week. That is unacceptable for a new car.

How long does it take you to get 300k miles out of this?
I had a 2022 Legacy, I thought the car was beautiful and had everything I needed it but twice got into an accident due to the CVT unpredictable fake gear shifting, after those I got rid of it quickly. after only 1800 miles on it. I still like the brand (hate the dealerships though) and from time to time look at the videos.

Do many people actually use auto stop/start? The nanny steering, emergency brake and steering stuff scares the crap out of me --- I would turn it off as trust in software to drive my care is something I don't have. I prefer to drive a car rather than have a car drive me. Is the camera on the left of the mirror in your line of sight? Seems like an odd place, the windshield, to block a view.

The biggest “issue” by far is the vibration from 0-20MPH when you’re flooring it. Took it multiple times no one finds an issue.
Im assuming it’s the AWD system managing the power during full throttle
