"Monstrosity screen" is right. I would like tactile feedback. Dials. Buttons I can push, not a screen I have to tap. I agree with you. It makes no sense to put a giant distraction on the dashboard.
Plus the touchscreen will get very laggy within just a few years of ownership. Imagine the headache of trying to change temperature, turn on AC etc. with a laggy touchscreen
Don’t forget when the touch starts to die. My 2013 Crosstrek has quite a big corner of the screen that no longer registers touch.
Agree 100% such a distraction. Here in Oz huge fines for using a mobile phone while driving even when stopped at lights.... but you now have this tablet that controls all of these different things 🙄 just sheer stupidity Subaru. The really sad thing is all new cars are going this way.
Perhaps Mazda is really onto something with their rotary knob system with no touch screen
Touchscreen is a deal killer. I'll keep my 2001 Outback, thank you.
One of the reasons I bought my 2022 Crosstrek over other cars I was considering to purchase is because of the physical buttons for the climate control and radio. It was also the only car I found that still had a CD player.
Same here, love the relatively basic design.
I got 23 Forester for the same reason and it's excellent visibility. I also needed something a little bigger than a Crosstrek. I don't mind plugging my phone in it only takes a fw seconds.
And an optional manual trans
I've thought for a long time that tech is supposed to make lives better and not make it overly complex. Just throwing tech at everything with no real thought about usability is just stupid.
I just bought the last 2023 Crosstrek my local dealership had with a manual transmission. It's a "premium" model so it doesn't have any of the annoying new car stuff other models have, and in the little bit I've owned it, it's proven to be more than capable of driving just about anywhere short of full on off-roading without eyesight or auto-start-stop, and I don't have to worry about cvt problems either.
The last gen and year of a manual. Enjoy it. I’ll buy one when my wrx is too small. And to a turbo swap
I wholeheartedly agree with your thoughts on the touchscreen.
I was super thankful the '22 Forester I bought did not have the huge touchscreen the Outback had. Not only do I never use the screen, except for backing up, but I without question prefer tactile controls for heating/cooling.
I agree. I won't buy a Crosstrek, or any Subaru. I'd prefer to have no eyesight and drop the price by $5K. I don't like the idea of all the beeps and blinking lights telling me someone is behind me. I know there is, I looked. I wish all the manufacturers would stop with all this driver assist BS.
Then buy a crosstrek, Impreza or wrx in a 6MT
OK, Boomer.
I wasn't a big fan of the driver assist until I tried it. It's actually really really impressive. Not to mention you can't possibly be 100% aware all the time, it's nice to know you have the security should you zone out. Also it doesn't beep at you unless you let go of the steering wheel.
Keep making the best Subaru content on UA-cam 🙏 comment for the algo!
I’d rather see a full LCD gauge cluster, and a smaller media screen with the physical HVAC controls.
Well said especially with the distractions. I have an 08 OB with actual buttons. I can do everything without looking at it. I have a 2015 Legacy that has the small touchscreen. I find myself looking at the screen much more than I should.
Totally agree with you about Subaru's touch screen technology. My parents got a new 2022 Outback Touring XT. Lack of physical buttons, like the seat heat you mentioned, causes too much distractions. When I drive it, the 'driver distraction mitigation system' constantly beeps as I try to change the seat heat, cabin temperature, map info, etc. Too many warning causes one to ignore them. Subaru needs to talk to aviators and see how automation and warnings are handled on aircraft.
I had a 2016 Outback Limited which I liked. I gave it to my daughter when she graduated from college and needed a car. I looked at the new 2022 and 2023 Outback Limited but ended up buying a used 2018 Outback Limited. I should not have. Lots of information on how your car is doing is gone now. Things like overall MPG for the life of the car, the graph of the MPG for each minute of driving are gone.
As you mentioned, an analog coolant temperature gauge is not just nice to have but important to have! If they have these large displays, why don't they allow you to see the CVT temperature. It is helpful to see transmission temperature when going off road or towing. In my 2018 Outback, you now can see how many degrees the vehicle is pitched up or down. Who cares if I'm going up either a 1 degree or a 2 degree hill. How far the vehicle is tilted left or right is more important.
My wife's 2014 Forester Premium is great on information. Using the up/down switches on the steering wheel, you can flip through information on the 2x3 inch screen that is right below the windshield helping to keep your eyes on the road. It has the graph of the MPG per minute. It does have issues with the climate control knobs not having an easily seen mark on it to see what setting it is on (permanent marker is helpful).
Subaru needs a good human factors engineer that can guide them in what is appropriate automation. If Subaru really want to be 'tech wow' then let them either update the software in older cars or use an actual iPad and a Subaru iPad app for the controls and just update the app on the iPad! Preferably an iPad mini please!
I want buttons, simplicity and a CD player. If I purchase a Subaru, it will be a 2023. I now own a simple and fun 2018 Mazda CX3, AWD.
Totally agree with your comments. Also I noticed they got rid of the hand brake on the '24 and replaced with an e-brake system. All in all, it seems like Subaru is adding more electronic and electric parts that are prone to failure or cost more to maintain. I was also expecting to see a Wilderness edition so I felt the reveal was quite disappointing. I'll keep my '21 Outdoor (Sport in the US) for many years to come and make a Wilderness version of my own.
There is a wilderness version and it is also built in the Lafayette Indiana plant.
I can only shrug and shake my head in dismay. I believe you are spot on with your assessment. More complexity yields greater problems. The KISS principle is a thing for many reasons. Sadly, it seems Subaru has become caught in their own system of belief, and the days of simple, fun, perhaps quirky vehicles, is gone. Doubtful to return.
I think the design crew spent about 2 hours on this update total, and came up with " Don't change anything significant, and it needs 17% more "styling"."
I think every change Subaru has made for 2024 are negatives. Every one of them.
Carmakers should just put a dumb screen at top center on the dash just below line of sight, which will take and mirror any phone. It should have a microphone for hands-free calling.
I despise surveillance as a service, and also agree that putting giant distractions in cars is just dumb. You shouldn't have to operate a god-damned computer while driving. I want big knobs and buttons that I don't have to look at, not a touchscreen.
Also wanted a manual or conventional auto. If I have to buy an auto I will look at non-CVT Mazdas and Toyotas.
Make it simple, rugged, reliable and priced accordingly. Don't want a rolling surveillance center with giant neon distractions.
Ditched the manual gearbox and jammed a pseudo surface pro in place of simple reliable cost effective knobs. No thanks. Glad I got the Impreza minus this crap
Just picked up a 2023 base Crosstrek with 6MT, ordered back in November since no dealers had any MT's in stock. Was planning on waiting a couple years before purchasing but had to get it now since MT's are going away. Had a 2020 Impreza with CVT and Eyesight, did not like Eyesight, the warnings and emergency braking activated too often.
Your commentary is spot on. Well said.
Beautiful information from the knowledgeable Mr. Subaru and yes that screen is more distracting than the original one. Thanks 🙏 Mr. Subaru.
I read somewhere that the move to putting all the controls in the touchscreen is that it saves the manufacturer money. Each physical switch, dial and button costs money - but you can get rid of them all by putting the controls in the touch screen instead. I hate it, it sucks, but it does make sense for that reason. ( a bad one, but one that makes sense to Subaru and the manufacturers )
I just ordered a 2023 Premium 6MT - don't have it yet, but I'm glad I did looking at the new one. I think they haven't sold many manuals for several reasons... they gave the CVTs a bigger motor, added entertainment options a little bigger screen, speaker upgrades, a nicer center heads up display. Here in the states there's no moonroof option on the manual, no x-mode on the manual, no eyesight, no rear arm rest/center cup holders for the rear passengers and so on. Those options or lack there of on the manual made me consider a 2.5, but I'm not a fan of CVTs in how the feel / sound / driving engagement. I understand the fuel economy debate, but I'd rather get less MPGs for a better driver's car. I might have purchased an automatic for the extra features, but not a CVT. Now that Subaru doesn't offer a manual - if I made I change I would pick a Toyota RAV4 TRD (with the automatic transmission), because I like automatics better than CVTs or even the GR Corolla (even though it's smaller). I heard the 2024 looses ground clearance as well due to going to a new global architecture.
On the new model I agree with you about the exterior trim pieces and logos on the sport... yuck! I think Subaru needs to look back at the late 90s when the 2.5 RS, Legacy GT, SVX, and so on where the excitement of owning a Subaru. The screen on the new one is ridiculous and it's not very utilitarian in it's functions. Not a fan of the inside camera and if I owned one would want to disable it. Safety is good and I don't have my phone out ever when I drive, but at what point are we giving up our personal liberties with a camera watching all that we do?
I would still want a well appointed 6MT with some options, moonroof, cold weather package, a "normal sized" screen, hard point climate controls (no software here), exterior mirror signals, a nice sound system, rear USBs for kids (seriously what age do we live in here), rear upper air/heat vents, an arm rest in the rear on all trims (kids like separation and a place to rest). They would truly have unique package that other manufactures don't offer. Come on Subaru get back to the place you used to be or you'll loose your enthusiast market!
They got rid of the manual because of eyesight.
They could make eyesight work with the manual transmission. I owned a 11th gen Civic 6mt with Honda's version of eyesight. Subaru just chooses not to make it work. It’s more r and d.
Totally agree with you the screen is too much. Thanks for the video Robert nicely done 👍✅. Take care of yourself and family and be Blessed ❤️❤️ it.
My issue with touch screens has to do with the difficulty of actually touching the intended icon as you bounce down the road at 40-75 mph. You hit a bump or pothole and touch the wrong icon, then you have to undo that one and try again.
Yes, creates more of a hazard to the driver than anything else. I hate mine.
Totally - totally!
I just bought a new '23 outback with the large touchscreen and to be 100% honest, it's not as bad as you would think. the screen is very responsive and the main buttons (HVAC, seat heaters, etc) are very large and always situated on the bottom of the screen, so touching them is never an issue. I even had no issues using it while going 35ish down a gravel road. plus, wireless CarPlay/android auto is a sweet thing
This means bezel design is important. To be able to rest a hand when going for a button greatly increasing your accuracy.
@@MarksTechit’s hella laggy, and the Bluetooth is spotty. Even CarPlay craps out now and them
And p.s. your observations are right on!
Glad I ordered my ‘23 sport. For me it’s the simplicity. Not a bad looking car. Great ground clearance (sometimes more than the off-road package trucks) I can throw a deer on the roof. I can get to the hunting spot. And on oversized studded snows it’s still getting almost 28 mpg on my 70 mile a day commute
I agree with all your points. The manual transmission in the base model was very popular in the province of Quebec, Canada followed by the Sport. As well, concerning CVT with Eyesight, these safety systems are now, or will be soon compulsory on all North American passenger cars. Great video-:)
Agree on the touchscreen. The prior gen looked much more ideal IMO -- enough screen for Nav but most of the other controls as real buttons and knobs. I think these are going to look really dated in a few years and have lots of problems.
Nice rant, I agree completely. Couldn't have said it better.
Now, to business: I own a new '23 Outback w the big honkin' screen.
Let's pretend it's 6 yrs from now. I get in the car and start her up, and there's a problem w the display. Maybe the screen is just black. Maybe the radio isn't responding to anything. Maybe the heat goes on full blast and won't turn off.
What now? Aside from calling up the dealer and paying hundreds (thousands?) to fix it, what are my options? Can I fix it myself? How?
My first Subie (2000 Outback, 175k miles & counting) is still in my fleet, and if it had this type of failure I couldn't justify an expensive dealer repair. Junking a car for a control panel problem is just wrong.
Mr. Subaru: Can you cover some actual repair options for that iPad in the dash? Maybe what we can do when EyeSight starts to misbehave? Stuff like that. A "Subaru Tech Problems" playlist might be a good fit. Someday we *are* going to need to deal with these things...
BTW, Nice channel. Good to see an honest discussion of all things Subaru!
Agreed with everything you said about the interior. I couldn't find the button to disable the auto start/stop until I saw your video and confirmed its buried in the unnecessarily big screen. I think the current Crosstrek infotainment is more user friendly with phyical buttons. I might have to look for a 2023 model or wait to see if the later year would have more physical buttons.
Yup. Gonna keep driving my '16 Crosstrek limited and '19 STI for a while longer.
It’s official, I’m keeping my 2013 5 speed mt Crosstrek with a radio no touchscreen BT and yes a CD player😆👍
Thanks for the info brother🤜🤛
Another company not listening to customers, moving closer to electronic crap
I miss real buttons. I miss them on phones, in cars, everywhere. Not everything has to be a goddamn touch screen... It's not always better to use the latest technology just because you can
🎯 Spot On!
Agree about the screen. Too many layers. Too much of a distraction. Love the CarPlay functionality, but make it on a smaller screen and give us our manual controls back. (On all the Subaru models!!)
Wife has the 2021 crosstrek sport and we love it. I was originally looking into a 2022 wrx after selling my 2012 impreza and after seeing the interior changes with the touch screen hvac and display + plus the styling changes (dont get me started) i chose to pick up a 2018 wrx instead. personally think they dropped the ball with both styling and interior interfaces like you mentioned. If this is the future for Subaru, im going to stick with 2021 and older for future options.
The 2022 FB24 is a fantastic engine for added power. But I get you with that touch screen
You’re better off sticking with pre covid versions. That said, I got a 22 wrx
I'm glad I went with a 2022, and with the small screen! With "muscle memory," I can now adjust everything I normally use without looking, and with just a glance for those things I use occasionally. Why over-complicate things? I would like wireless charging, though.
Nobody can accuse Subaru of making good looking vehicles but the gold(?) accent on the body trim finally takes the ugly cake.
Just bought the 24 Cross Trek a couple weeks ago and we did end up loving it, most comfortable seats I have had in any vehicle. Not the biggest fan of huge screens but having apple car play and stuff us awesome.
Also my heated seats are still a tactile switch between the seats?
Man some excellent points here as always.
10/10! On point in all aspects.
Very well done!, I agree! I own a 21 Japanese built Sport and love it better than the one you reviewed. The only thing I miss on my 21 is the front camera which only went to Canada!
Omg I am so glad I ordered a 2023!!! Fingers crossed it arrives soon.
You are right on! I'm 81 and jst bought a 23 Crosstrek. I learned to drive with manual controls and watching the guages. I doubt if I will ever figure out all the buttons and switches on it. If spite of that, I do love the car.
I agree the yellow trimming added to cladding looks dumb and ugly. I don't feel the big 11.6" screen is a downgrade or being problematic.
What they could have done is pay attention to the finer details for both the interior and exterior of this generation, for example:
Use LED lights for everything (interior lights, rear turns signals and rear back up), have whole C-shape rear light (cuts off at trunk), added more soft touch or fabric materials for the interior rear doors, upgraded the rear seats to be more comfortable (not just the front seats), have a sliding armrest and added rear seat vents.
Im so glad i did not wait for the 2024 crosstrek i got the 2023 subaru crosstrek premium unlimited its great
The used car market in 10-20 years is going to be a nightmare when all these touchscreens, cameras, and sensors on new cars start breaking. I wonder if the car would even be driveable with one of them out. And the cost to get the system fixed would probably be more than the car is even worth at that point.
My outbacks huge screen looks really cool when it goes all black while driving….
That’s why I’m looking at a 2019 outback. I can replace that small touchscreen with an aftermarket basic stereo and bypass the backup camera and disable the auto start/stop with a wiring harness in the eyesight system.
The tablet in my wife's 2022 WRX is horrible. It turns off randomly, and I literally have to remove my eyes from the road for 20 seconds when my ass is on fire from the seat warmer.
Little disappointed that there is no power increase, 8-9 seconds to 60 mph is sluggish.
I have a '21 Outback with the same big screen. I haven't personally had any issues with it, but clicking through several screens to modify the seat warmers is kind of a pain, and I would definitely prefer having dials for a/c & such. Honda and toyota have a good approach to this imo
One of the top reasons I bought a 2023 Forester and not the outback; I did not want the big screen. I really like the balance between the touch screen and tactile controls in the Forester. This allows me to operate most everything by muscle memory while minimizing distractions and frustration.
I know people that are waiting for a Crosstrek Wilderness model. Seems like they will still be waiting
Glad I got my 2023 Crosstrek with a manual transmission before it was too late. Looks like the car got worse.
Should I buy the extended warranty for the 23 Crosstrek I’m about to buy?
I bought my 2018 6mt cross trek in November of 2017 it was a commuter car for school and when it came to highway on-ramps and overtaking the 2 liter was painfully slow. I had really been hoping for a turbo crosstrek but when they announced the sport was a cvt only I ended up trading it for a 2018 wrx. The sedan kinda sucked so I ended up selling that and buying a wrx hatch, that got totaled and now I’m in a ‘12 sti hatch. I’ve been holding out hoping that Subaru will come out with something worth a damn because I would like a new car at some point but with their current line up I really don’t think I’ll be buying a new Subaru like ever again haha. I really liked my crosstrek but they’re going in the complete wrong direction and the cvt “wilderness” and “sport” crap they’re pumping out is just so damn uninspired. Really hoping something changes here soon! I know I’m just one dude but I’ve talked to sooooo many people with similar stories; all enthusiasts.
I am so glad I bought my 2023 Sport in January and didnt wait for the 2024 model. I do not like any of the changes they made. Thanks for your review.
Mr Subaru. I have a 2016 with 50000 miles. I’ve only changed the oil every 6000 miles, got a new battery and had to have the O ring replaced on the AC and recharged . When do you suggest I change other fluids notably radiator, transmission , and differential? I also have a one inch lift with white sparco terra tires and bfgko at tires Car is hyper blue. Love that color. It’s coming back In 2024 looks like. Also ive heard only the premium for 2024 will be made in Japan. Thanks. Also any tips on engine bay cleaning for this car? When also should I change plugs?
This is one of the reasons I bought a RAV4 hybrid because I'm both the Forester and the Outback that big giant screen is just a big distraction you are exactly right here Bob main thing I didn't like about the Forester and the and the Outback it doesn't get the gas mileage that the RAV4 hybrid does .
Can you cover the driver facing camera or just cut the wires for it?
My guess is they will do the same thing to the next gen Forester.
Best ever for 2024. Looking forward to getting the Limited.
Was in the market for a Crosstrek but now I. Ight try and snatch up a 2023 rather than wait. They also got rid of the phev right?
I don't know who gave up first, enthusiasts or Subary, but result is pretty obvious. My last Subaru was bugeye WRX wagon with automatic (big mistake). Transmission died at 101K miles...
I know this much they're getting ready to build them in Lafayette Indiana at SIA and sending the Impreza back to Japan
Agree 100. I was hoping for a more analog version. I live in a rural area so I-sight and navigation aren’t so useful for me. I hear even city fils don’t want these features. The infotainment systems are a terrible distraction. I’ve been in cars where even the dim setting strains drivers’ eyes at night. Let’s keep it simple, Subaru. My heart is yours. Don’t make me leave!
Just bought a 23 Premium but still debating if I like it better than the Altima I traded in for it or if I made a mistake.
"Get to da choppa!" "You one ugly mudda...." 🍿🎥😳
Those ugly C-shaped plastic "things" on the bumper remind me of the Predator outer mouth fangs! 🙀😭
Just adding onto the pile - I've been driving an 08 MT Outback since it was new and have been waiting for the last handful of years for something to come along that i wanted to replace it with. Threw in the towel yesterday and put money down on an incoming 23 MT Crosstrek Premium. MT along with it's lack of eyesight and a replaceable double din are a big part of what drove me over the line to buy before they disappeared. I would have loved having the option for a MT Sport... The MT Honda Civic Sport Touring Hatch was catching my eye, but in the end the AWD won.
I ordered a 2023 crosstrek 6spd manual on January 29th. The dealer said it is probably the last or one of the last manual crosstreks coming to America. Ordering ended on the 31st of Jan. Losing my mind waiting four more weeks until arrival! (Showing the 16th as arrival)
FYI Forester and Crosstrek, some of them are assembled in I think Malaysia by a joint venture.
i will never buy a car with a camera pointed at me. specifically avoided the OB limited because of this horrible freakish feature. also i don't like the big touch screens. double din was fine.
Couldn’t agree more about that stupid screen. I drove a loaner outback from the dealer with one of those and it’s a huge distraction and dangerous. Give me manual buttons and a double din so I can up grade my radio in 10 years when the factory one goes bad. I also hate all this tech.crap they put on these cars now like eye sight make it optional so I can actually afford these stupid new cars.
I specifically went in on a 2023 Crosstrek to avoid all of the little growing pains associated with a model refresh. Give me the car that's had most of its issues worked out over the one with some fancy screens.
Can you do a technical overview of the 22 wrx? for example if I go with the base what aftermarket stereo options do I have? or even the ipad version could I swap it out for a standard head unit with CD'S?! And what about the 3 diffs front open, middle and rear viscous??
I will keep my 2021 sport
I’m about to buy a new 2024 Crosstrek but I’m wondering if this fb20d has head gasket issues?? Also how about the CVT transmission, if buy new and always maintained?
I agree that the infotainment screen has become way more high tech than necessary, which is why I'm looking for an older Subaru, years 2016 to 2019. Can anyone tell me which year Outback to buy to avoid the battery drain problem? I don't drive every day so the car will sit in my driveway and often go for 3 or 4 days without being driven.
I fully agree that the big infotainment screens are absurd. There should be a basic easy to use interface dominated by analog controls that you can use effectively while driving.
Long live tactile buttons! 🏆 🏆 🏆 🏆 🏆
You are 100% correct about anyhting.
Wondering about Wilderness edition..
So glad I purchased a 23 six speed man. It is everything I want and nothing I don’t. Frankly the CVT is a non starter let alone the big screen.
I've been out of the market for new Subaru vehicles since the beginning of the Gen 5 Outbacks. No need/desire for EyeSight, manual gone, and their new strategy for entertainment systems is pitiful. The current entertainment systems are planned obsolescence in action, obsolete tech immediately upon vehicle purchase and quickly stone-age within a couple years - Subaru is having major problems with updates for these systems and now the HVAC system is integrated into it - can't even go to Crutchfield to stay up to date with evolving tech or you loose your A/C and heat. I'm waiting to see if the windshield glass on the new Crosstreks suffers from the cracking prevalent in Outbacks - the word is that the glass is thinner and "engineered" to work with the higher-tech EyeSight cameras. I drove a '23 Crosstrek for a day while my '11 Outback was getting the airbag recall completed - it drove fine, handled well, good power but the auto start/stop sucked pretty bad. Lots of warning sounds and lights for the safety nannies - I didn't waste my time trying to figure them out to even be able to disable/turn them off. I wasn't impressed with what felt like a nice econobox loaded with unnecessary annoyances. The 2024 Crosstrek adds to the unnecessary crap - no thanks. YMMV.
The huge screen isn't really a problem... if it actually was easy and quick to use. There is no 'hold' alternative function for example. The interface is a mess AND dangerous to use. My opinion, it's about SELLING CARS and not about being better. I'm sure they feel they have to.
Looks like Subaru has failed to integrate essential controls into the voice command system. Instead of going through several windows on the screen, you should be able to say "Warm my buns" or "Ow, too hot!" to control the seat heaters.
I had oil changed recently at the dealer here in Canada, looks like a different filter again, its blue taller and slimmer than the one that was replaced , whats going on with oil filters?
Glad I got me a 2023 6 speed. Probably the last Subie I buy. :(
Probably one of the worst things about the announcement of this cross track was an upgraded powertrain, which really means only 2 pounds of torque that they added to it. Lol. What a joke that was.
I hate to say it almost every manufacturer is moving on with bigger screens and more modern features. Most of them are moving away from small screens and less technically
My 23 Outback Wilderness does NOT open another window for heated seats it’s right on the Home Screen, one touch. But I do wish it was an analog switch.
Software update.
There is such a thing as too much tech.
Well I guess you don't also have a Tesla.
Sad. Almost all car companies make nothing but overly complex appliances now. Safety is important, of course, but the lack of options is awful.
Climate controls should stay knob and lever On all vehicles.
These bloody touchscreens are so annoying, you are right MrSubaru - just destruction after destruction and that bloddy camera stearing at the driver - who knows where is it connected to - maybe to some database accesable by the insurer etc. Everyone says goodbye to the privacy. I have an older Subaru and i'm not planning to buy the over tech new ones definitely! just to much crap is making sure I will not be able to make a decision. Subaru - just take away the steering wheel and advertise it as a ''super safe car for idiots only!''
Is the cladding for all model suppose to hint a wilderness version?
You are very, very, very right. (You neglected to mention the electric parking brake.)
Does the 2.5 in the 2024 have timing chains or belts? Love the big screen by the way. I'm waiting on a limited from the local dealership.
timing chain
I hate the exaggerated black plastic body trim on ALL the new Subies!
Over all I love my 2024 sport crosstrek! I do agree with some of your points but I will say I appreciate the updates they did especially for the isite system. I work nights and got in a really bad accident a couple of months ago in my 2018 legacy (before they started adding isite standard) and wished that I had the system to help minimize the damage. Now I feel a little at ease on my way home from work knowing that there are safe guards in place in case I happen to zone out. But I will say the 2023 model looked better, especially with the color options.
1000% spot on on everything. I've been saying this for years. They care so much about safety unless it compromises their plans to inundate the interior with nonsense tech that downgrades the car's function. If the interior was designed to allow adjusting controls in the quickest way possible without taking your eyes off the road, a touchscreen would NOT be the keeper of everything. A 30 year old rental car with dials and levers for controls is far better....but on NOOOOO....its not "new and techy". Car interiors disgust me. I have a 2021 Forester and there are so many issues with the nonsense tech they install. Car breaking over manhole covers, headlights turning on when you turn them off making the dash lights go dim, cruise control shutting off when eyesight cant see...as if I don't know how to drive a car in cruise control. It's only going to get worse. It's so refreshing to hear your rant. At least someone else gets it.
