To be fair, I honestly think that funhaus (especially what they do on the know) is the closest thing I've got to actual games journalism. Professionalism and research included while still remembering that these are video games and don't have to be taken that seriously
You guys may or may not have been right all year (w/ HL3 I couldn't agree more), but one thing's for certain, everyone in the FH community has been really appreciative of the dedication that you all have put into entertaining us with really fun and engaging content all year long. I think that you guys leaving IG and joining the RT family was one of the greatest things to happen to UA-cam without a shadow of a doubt; gracing us with Gabor, scrobbles and Baby-Hunter to leave a concerning grin plastered on my face throughout all of your videos. Thank you Funhaus for contributing to this really great year.
+Victor_714 so you still watch the content? That's like despising a music genre and listening to it all the time. Why don't you just watch IG videos all the time if you miss it so much or better yet find some other group? Or maybe your just here seeking for that attention as everyone can see you bombarding the comment section.. It's painfully obvious
I don't understand people that don't like Funhaus cause it's "going a different direction" from Inside Gaming, when they don't even know why they actually dislike it.
+MerkRampage Yeah, I loved the way they got sorta personal with their opinions on the matter and how they all stood up for what they believed in. Made for a very interesting episode.
+MerkRampage It is the third one I listened to and the only one I listened to in total. It had pretty interesting duscussions and I might add it to my list of podcast but I feel like this one just stood out in quality from the other episodes. Because it is just a small sideproject podcast it misses structure and seems less prepaired unlike big productions like NPR podcasts.
This was the most educational and intriguing bowl of dude soup I've seen. I love that everyone could give their opinion and explain why and then have a civil conversation about differing opinions
Dead Money Isn't it obivious for You that We procreate via male-female sex...? As well as kids learing everything for its environment, including sexual behaviour...? Making more homosexuals don't help our species.
The36th Maybe but just because a kid is brought up in a certain environment, doesn't mean that child will follow it. It's a shitty thing to do to create a stereotype when it's not true. You've also got to think that it's good when an orphan is adopted by a loving couple, gay or not.
I think James hits the nail on the head with every argument he brings up, and Adams taking his arguments either to an extreme level to make everything sound ridiculous or he's making specific arguments that don't relate to anyone else BUT him. Super interesting and entertaining to watch as always though
I think the addiction thing boils down to this: If these companies are trying to exploit people with addictive personalities, then people should know about that, and in the case of videogames people might not know about that.
+Jontman42 I agree. There needs to be a line that's drawn somewhere, but "where" exactly is hard to place because obviously the companies want to make a game that you'll play more; they are actually trying to make an addicting game. They want you to buy their content. It's like when FO4 announced they were bringing back vats - they're bringing back a gameplay mechanic that everyone was addicted to because they knew it would sell more copies. It's not like companies have in-house meetings saying "People are addicted to A, B, and C so our game is going to do those things so we can make money." Or maybe they are. It's a really fine line between that being their job to make good, replayable content and them going out of their way to induce a mental disorder for profit. How would you determine that? It's a very tricky situation.
I'mAlex Yes the line between "trying to exploit" and simply "trying to make a good game" is difficult, especially if people see "good game" as something you want to spend a lot of time on. There definitely are more obvious cases like free-to-play games with a billion micro transactions but no real "value" to the game, like some mobile games, but most games would be pretty vague.
+I'mAlex You make a good point but when it comes down to it the intent is kind of irrelevant because the game will have the same affect on people weather or not the addictive gameplay was intended or not so honestly what would end up happening (most likely) is that warning would be issued in an unskippable section of your game startup in every game. And for legal reasons companies will end up going back through their created games and putting warnings in them too. This might sound annoying but it boils down to the same reason they put warnings on cigarette boxes.
Lomhev115 I agree that practically the intent is irrelevant, and it makes more sense to just warn people in general instead of blaming game devs for trying to exploit such people. A videogame having addictive elements isn't inherently _wrong_, but warning of such elements has its place.
+Jontman42 The main reason I support it is simply to support my fellow man because not everyone knows everything you do nor should you expect them too. Everyone should know of the dangers that come with every day objects. Because if people who have never touched video games before suddenly get into them and don't know of the addictive qualities of them, then they may miss the symptoms. I know that if you are made aware of something that could happen while playing you have a much higher chance of detecting it.
Probably one of my favorite bowls of dude soup so far. The last discussion about addiction was really interesting and i so wish they could've talked a bit more about it.
57:50 I'm happy James hit the nail on the head with his thoughts on mental health. I have major depressive disorder and 99% of people don't think that's not a real problem.
Like I tell everyone about depression, there's a big difference in feeling depressed and being depressed. One is temporary the other lasts for what feels like forever.
This dude soup was fucking awesome. The gameplay was actually really fun/funny to watch, and the conversations were really engaging and I loved it. The dude soup ep's that make me think are personally my favourite. Good job!
Kovic's kinda contradicting himself...On an interview with Greg miller he said he doesn't play Fo4 cause its has a quicksave option and hes not a child.... Now he says he plays it because of the quicksave and jokingly that he's a "old man"
They all flip flop another example is James saying Kickstarter is shit then psyconaunts 2 is on Kickstarter he tells everyone to give them money on Kickstarter.
+weaver900 I find it interesting trying to work out what political/ideological principles the guys - and gal - have at Funhaus. Generally speaking, in regards tot the video games industry, they seem fairly pro capitalist/laissez faire. However I've heard them once or twice mock those who disagree with socialist ideas like free health care and education.
+TheGroucho66 they seem to want to have a socialist society mixed with an capitalist society, similar to Britain and other European countries. I would say that, so far in my personal opinion, that this sort of mix is the best way to have a society. Free health care and education so everyone has a relatively even playing field when it comes to capitalism. Again, totally personal and I don't want to force it down anyone's throats.
I think it's similar to the concept of coercive paternalism, where sometimes people are better at assessing the rationality of other people's decisions rather than their own due to cognitive bias, so the government is there to prevent us from making bad decisions that will harm us. Now whether you agree with that is different I'm just saying this case reminds me of it
+Frazster5 Pretty much every western country is at least some part socialist. People tend to forget it because they've grown up in it and accept the US as the standard for capitalism. A mix of the two is really the only way western culture can exist as we know it.
+TheGroucho66 This can be easily explained. They work in and experience the realities of the video game industry, thus they are forced to deal with real world results of real economic models. However, for everything else they are laymen and as Californians they naturally swing to the left.
Hey guys, I'm 33 and don't feel old. I love games and have played them along time. I love this channel and what you guys do. No matter of the age of your audience, please continue with the excellent quality you keep putting out. I would love to meet you guys one day. It might be difficult as I live in the UK and I'm stuck in a wheelchair. You guys make my life worth living after my motorcycle accident. Thanks so much and "Happy New Year"
This may have been the best Dude Soup I've watched so far, I really enjoyed the discussion in the second half of the video and I hope we see this side of Funhaus a little bit more often. Also, I really do enjoy the news stories you guys have provided for us this year and I hope you guys keep up the good work.
+Christopher mcdowall Lawrence and Adam are the more serious ones, while James, Bruce and Joel are the funny ones. I don't find Spoole that funny at all. And Peake is god
+Austy Posty Fresh And Saucy So we shouldn't have speed limits? The government's most basic function is to best protect its citizens, both from themselves and others (including that very government)
***** the job of the government is to maintain order. To protect citizens from each other, not themselves. A speed limit protects people from each other, a ban on alcohol protects people from themselves. And the last time we tried that it didn't end well.
I've studied addiction for many years, and what I've found is that actually most things can trigger the wet stuff in your brain to become hooked. It's just that the mundane things, such as watching TV, drinking tea, etc, go unnoticed. Nearly every corporation that's selling something is trying to tap into that primitive area that gets us addicted. Whether it be payday loans or branded lipstick. I think it's important to understand that addiction, in most cases, is not necessarily down to ones 'addictive personality', but more the conditions of how the person lives. As one of you touched upon, the person with no social life is more likely to form an addiction to watching videos of UA-cam personalities. With video games, it's probably a similar thing. I believe that addiction can be the result of indulging in a mimic of reality that's fills a void in your life (such as an Internet-based social life), or an escape from a harsh reality as is the case with many drug addicts. I do believe video games should always come with a warning, but the bigger picture is that we as individuals must realise the superficially of such things, like seeking satisfaction through reward systems, and become more attuned to the things that really matter, and I think the result of that would be less addictions to these things all around. But hey, I've smoked cigarettes like a mad man all my life. The best thing we can do is attempt progress ourselves, as opposed to demand everyone around flash warnings in our faces.
I feel like I learned SO MUCH about how the video game industry works over the course of knowing this channel. It's so refreshing to hear intelligent conversations about how this very specific business works.
That guy suing over Fallout 4 is as stupid as the guy who sued McDonalds for making him fat. Whatever happened to taking responsibility for yourself. Saying you got addicted to it is just a cop-out for you not taking responsibility.
Had to stop this video midway to commend the Funhaus crew for their (always) awesome insight. 30:00-31:00 they talk about being civil and respectful interweb chat, and I love that they do that. I'm so proud of this group of guys for I guess you could call advertising the idea of humility when you comment on the internet. I'm being sappy and whatevernothaveyou, but.. big thumbs up Funhaus. I love all you guys, all of what you bring to UA-cam. Such a great and entertaining channel.
If this discussion had lasted another hour, I would have gladly watched. There aren't many places in our society where you can find such deep discussion and debate. I applaud you guys for marrying humor and fun with intelligence.
This podcast was incredibly refreshing, because I love to just switch my brain off and watch content, but there is something rewarding about listening to an intellectually stimulating conversation about some relevant social issues.
This is probably the most interesting video I've ever watched on UA-cam. That may sound a bit sad, but it was really interesting hearing these guys have a proper conversation about addiction and whether or not society and the industry should perhaps take it more seriously. I have a great interest in psychology, and some points brought up - particularly by James and Lawrence - were very interesting. I agree with James that a screen saying "game responsibly" or something to that effect would be a worthwhile thing to do. Most people would just skip past it of course, but for some it could be that subconscious "voice" that is blocked for them, which would usually stop and make them question if they do need to take a step back from the game and make use of some of that time elsewhere. Good podcast Funhaus. I recently showed a couple of my friends some of your videos to show what they've been missing out on and now they are regular viewers like myself.
+Rebecca Johnson the comedy was gold with that game.... even the whole 1 hour live feed was awesome. how they revisit it again. few of the gta videos and demo disks suck so hope they pick up on it
The thumbnail mentioned GOTY, but that wasn't really mentioned at all(probably for the next Dude Soup). They really just talked about the news stories they covered on whether they were legitimate or not.
One thing that annoys me about Funhaus is that they act as if game devs can do no wrong. Even when devs do fuck up, Funhaus sweeps it under the rug and acts like it's no big deal. An example of this is with Battlefront 3. Everyone knew the game was gonna be shit, but Funhaus acted as if it was no big deal and that the game was fine. Lo and behold the game is panned and they probably stopped playing it already. While being over critical towards development teams is harmful to gaming, so is acting as if everything is fine and nothing should change.
I've been watching these guys for a long time and I can honestly say I like how Lawrence has developed over time. He's very well informed and very well spoken on the subjects, bravo.
I really enjoy the introspective thought that the conversation towards the end of the podcast provided. I'd like to get more of that from the podcast every once in a while. If not, that's completely fine.
I have a very addictive personality. I LOVE Fallout: New Vegas. But I do not believe in games being addictive like cigarettes or heroin. In my opinion, this Russian guy doesn't deserve any money from Bethesda. I know that I'm going to want to play it for days, but despite my addictive personality, I can stop myself. I really don't believe that not playing a video game will cause physical or SEVERE mental problems. Example: Quitting smoking = Anger, weakness, sickness, etc. Quitting heavy drugs = shakes, excessive sweating, extreme emotions, etc. Quitting video games = boredom. =\
+Spike Kastleman [...] *But I do not believe in games being addictive like cigarettes or heroin.* [...] Wrong. Your brain works by creating neuron paths which encode your consciousness, memories, experience, skills, etc. Besides that, it also obviously encode entire "software" which control your body without your conscious knowledge/decision (like for example heartbeating). Addiction is just "neuropath" created when You do/take something which is directly making you feel good about that. For your brain it doesn't matter if its a game or drugs like alhocol, nicotin, heroin or maybe hormone ruch during sex or adrenaline rush. Making you good(stimulating brain) + not associating it directly with causing damage = neuron path which encode need for that factor(a.k.a addiction/habit, You name it) .
LOL. Flawed logic. My opinion is my opinion. Aligned with facts or not, it's not wrong. My opinion is not invalid to everyone, either buds. Nor is it wrong. That's why it's called opinion, not fact. ( And I do know how my brain works, thanks. You're not the smartest here. =] )
+Spike Kastleman When you align an opinion with statements that can be factually proved right or wrong, your so-called opinion can indeed be subjected to criticism. Stop stroking your ego - you are wrong. Addiction is not something you can simply believe to be there or not; addiction is something that is medically proven.
really enjoyed this.btw, i was a heroin addict for twelve years and a meth addict for two, when i got clean i began gaming muc more and am now a daily gamer and it helps me keep my mind busy when i have down time and helps keep me out of trouble. my story isnt important but it was nice hearing the subject talked about in relation to gaming, just addiction in general i mean. love the cast and all the Haus, keep it up
+Where We Eating Fucking this. I am so sick of Adam rolling his eyes at "Oh the stupid ill informed irrational fans of ours are unhappy about something we said again". Its infuriating how they purposely ignore criticisms of games that they personally enjoy.
+Clint Eastwood its not even that to me. if they want to be responsible for breaking news then they have to take the criticisms and the praise together. taking 40 minutes to be passive aggressive is a waste. just deal with the fact that people are going to misinterpret your words or take it the wrong way
+Where We Eating Well they do still encourage the watchers to keep calling them out and holding them accountable in the podcast. They do want that, but that doesn't mean they like it all the time.
I'mAlex Well do something to curb that. Maybe put out a 5 or 10 minute explainer like Vox does. Put out an 3 minute update on big news. Even if its just to say there are rumors here and there but nothing substantial has happened. I just dont like the complaining.
+Clint Eastwood I really, really hate how they handled the Arkham Knight PC debacle "it runs fine for us, you dont know nothing" and so on when the game clearly for a large portion was unplayable or ran really poorly. But us the consumers are always wrong and we should give our money for broken games at launch...
Adam in this video literally said he dealt with depression...he probably knows about that if he was telling the truth. Calm yourself man, and you know, actually watch and listen to the video. Fuck, reading this comment almost made me angry.
I like how when you get in arguments/discussions you start putting your point in such a way that you go past the part of what you actually think, but still try your hardest to defend it because you already stated your stance. It happens to me a lot actually, where you go "Hey this is my thought on this." But someone says something slightly different from what you believe and slightly off topic, but enough so that it could be interpreted as being on topic. At that point you go way beyond what the discussion was about. For example I can use addiction. You start talking about how addiction, but end up talking about freedom and rights. Then again to make valid points you have to cover all the things that go directly or indirectly with those things. What I found out with me is I have to pause and try and find out what the original topic was. In a way it just brings things in endless circles and talking about them does nothing, but making things happen or talking about changes that could happen and how it affects it things is productive. I think the society today is all talk and that's our biggest problem. I really hope they do put "Game Responsibly" in videos games, because who cares? That's not affecting your freedom. You still make the choice to keep playing, but maybe that little message helps you. Even if it only helps one person out of billions, its a step in the right direction. We need more actions and less speculations. In the end of it all you learn nothing by saying things, but changing them shows what actually happens. #trollbait
It's 4AM, I have work in like 5 hours, and I'm just watching, then you say I might be addicted to this... then I think NAAHHH and just fucking keep watching. Love you guys. LOVE MEEEE!
Thanks Funhaus. I watched this, this morning while making chilly from scratch and decided to have a beer. I don't know if it's the onion or the shame, but I can't stop crying.
i appreciate the hell out of you guys. im in my mid 20's and i feel like there isnt much out there for me to consume in the gaming community. you guys make something that i can consume and understand, and comes to my level. your content also entertains, which is a big plus. keep up the good work guys, and thanks
I actually work in the games industry as a concept artist. You guys are my favorite games news to keep up with. It's actually how i keep in contact with the rest of my industry and the going ons. Ps great discussion today mates, keep it up!
One of the best podcasts in a long awhile keep up the great work Funhaus. I'm still kind of upset that your arthaus was closed but oh well. You are some of my most beloved content creators.
You really touch the deep things there in the last half of the podcast. Super-work, guys, real interesting. Thank you SO MUCH for this and past years, keep up the good work. Cold hugs from Sweden
Anything that triggers a reward response in the brain can become addicting, literally anything. Some people get that from self harm, others from drinking themselves to death and others from video games. Computer/internet addiction is a thing, why not video games? I am not saying that if someone's life gets ruined because they were playing the game, they should be given a compensation from the publisher, but it is a growing problem. And with games becoming more and more realistic, it's not that far-fetched to assume it will start occurring more often. Anyone remembers the South Park episode on World of Warcraft? People like that do exist, sitting in front of the computer, getting morbidly obese to a point moving away from the computer hurts them both physically and mentally.
As an undergrad in psychology, I can totally understand James' concern at 58:00. It's actually one of the pressing issues in clinical psychology and it is nice to see that James and (I hope) many others start to view mental disorders as not necessarily a negative thing but just something that is different.
Honestly, FunHaus has gotta be one of the best things to come out of UA-cam this year. In addition to your fucking /hilarious/ game plays, you guys are probably the only legitimate source of gaming journalism outside of TB or Rev3 (if they're even still around, I haven't seen them anywhere). In fact idk if those guys even count at all, because you're all incredibly quick to point out that rumor are just that- RUMORS- while still offering your own very well-thought-out and informed opinions, very often going against the grain of most UA-camrs' mindsets, which causes a lot of controversy and debate in the comments section. Plus, you guys remember that all-important but so often forgotten axiom: GAMES DON'T ALWAYS HAVE TO BE TAKEN SO DAMN SERIOUSLY. On a side note, y'all have also spawned one of the most respectful and good-natured comments sections in all of UA-cam. So thanks guys, for making 2015 an awesome year for UA-camrs.
It's cool to see you guys taking a story or concept from gaming and use it to discuss larger topics like addiction and regulation. One of the most interesting and enjoyable dude soups!
I love these videos. It's the type of thing I like doing. Just sitting around playing games with friends and having a normal conversation with other gamers which is civil. It's so difficult to have a normal conversation with a lot of gamers simply because they are so blinded by their own opinions. I wish I could join you guys one day
I don't really want to blabber on about addiction but as someone who has experienced it and thoroughly looked into why it happens, the common factor of all addiction isn't the thing you are using, it's the experience and the 'high' you get from it that you become addicted to. Your body and/or mind cross a line from casual use to needing that experience or high to function. You said yourselves before about Call Of Duty having a reward system of having loud guitar noises and a big WELLDONE YOU WINZ HAVE A COOKIE every time you do something to make the player feel accomplished from playing well, that is basically how it works in general with addiction whether it be to substance, drink, gambling, skydiving, anything. Moderation is a healthy way of living with anything in life, too much is bad (even too much fruit causes problems). You just gotta take a step back occasionally, be smart about what you're doing and think. Anyways good Dude Soup as always, hope you guys have a good Christmas/etc x
First podcast I've watched all the way through, thoroughly enjoyed. Most academically stimulating thing I have seen all year. Great job guys keep up the good work. :)
Hey, Funhaus, your videos are by far some of the best I've ever seen for video games and such. They are really awesome and I hope you guys continue working hard, because I know people get on you and get whiny about you all, but this group is the best and most awesome people ever! Keep up the good work!
Lawrence i really appreciated the way you talked about the Fall out 4 addiction. The way you talked to adam and played devils advocate was really vital to the conversation movement. :D
Great podcast guys, loved hearing about your differing opinions on "the nanny state" vs "protecting the individual". Also I agree with Adam, personal responsibility all the way. Keep up the good work.
Im not gonna lie, this has to be one of my favorite podcasts from you guys. I especially enjoyed your comments on addiction and the regulation that may or may not have to come along with. this is why I subscribed! :D KCCO
I was really hooked into the discussion from this podcast, so hooked that It kept me from doing my job, I had no idea it was gonna be so interesting to hear, and I can't stop replaying some of your other videos! I think I'm addicted. Now I made less money and my wife is gonna leave me! I'm suing you Funhaus!! I'm musician so you're gonna pay me back with 7000 Scrobbles for emotional distress!!
Addiction is defined by two things: 1) Tolerance Levels 2) Withdrawal Symptoms So a person can drink 1 coke and feel super good, but then the next week they'll have to drink 2 cokes to get the same feeling, but technically won't be addicted. Another person can get sick from not drinking alcohol one day but if they've only been drinking 1 beer a day for the past 5 years, then technically they're not addicted. With that being said, I don't think video games by themselves are addictive, its all the bells and whistles that come with them are. People are always unlocking achievements, looking for that hard enemy to kill, trying to level up, because it feels good. Big text and noises play letting you know, "Hey, you've done it buddy!" It improves your self worth and your dopamine just starts shooting up like crazy, but pretty soon, its like "Oh I've already gotten something like this so I have to do something differently," "I already have these achievements but I need more," etc. So I don't think games are addictive per say, but its all the stuff that comes with them.
On the subject of game addition and depression this is my experience: First off, I have a full time job and have no problem (anymore) to talking and interacting with anyone(work related, random person in a store, etc.) I've been told I'm addicted to games, but I know I'm not. And no, it's not the only thing I do in my life. Gaming for me is an escape from reality. It's a better hobby to keep my mind from wondering why something went wrong and how I should have fixed it ,but my conscience is hovering over me and it's telling me I suck, no wonder people don't like me, I can't do this and I can't help but to think that. Gaming is like a second life I can live while coexisting with reality and helps me vent in a better way than sitting in a dark corner and crying that I'll get better if I just cry it out a little longer. I get to experience something other than always thinking why am I so fucked up. I HAVE to find something to keep my conscience from talking down on me and gaming is one of my opinions that's best suited for me. And yes, I do take medication that helps me significantly. I think the whole addiction thing is fueled on people trying to be better than other on games such as League or DOTA , "Gotta level up or get this first or before this person"....which I find stupid to believe that people are seriously only focus on that and not anything else around them. It could also based upon what type of childhood that person had and how it effected them to the point that they want nothing to do with others. Hell it can be based on so many things. Nonetheless, I think that people who are legit addicted to gaming and doesn't do anything other than that are hardheaded individuals that can't bare with reality and where they are in their life at this moment. They should go outside and find something other wasting their life on games. Reinvent you. Push yourself so far that you succeed in something so much better than your current life. I do not in any way feel like that Adam, Bruce, Laurence, and James talked or described the wrong things when it comes to game addiction as well as depression. It's their opinion and everyone shouldn't feel butthurt that "Oh, they said we are losers and don't have lives". Again, this is how they feel. They aren't looking for a fight with anyone about it. Just get over it.
What are you guys talking about? Tomb Raider was announced as a timed exclusive since day one. That wasn't a prediction of any kind. Microsoft explicitly said "Available THIS YEAR only on Xbox and PC"".
I really appreciate Funhaus for the gaming news they break, especially industry news that doesn't get reported in normal channels. It's great to have guys with some insider experience, and I love listening to them explain the realities of the entertainment industry, since I have no experience with it. They do remind me every once in a while that they aren't actually journalists though, despite their professionalism. Slippery Slope is a logic fallacy, not an argument guys.
MGS 4 had warning messages during the loading times between each act. Simple things like "You should take a break every few hours to rest your eyes." and "Smoking may cause cancer." To be honest, whenever that "take a break" message showed up I really did take it seriously and went for a glass of water to stretch out. (Not mentioning the fact that those download times took more than a few minutes get done) Like James says, it costs really nothing to put something like that in and it can save both parties of stupid situations like people playing for days at a time.
I'm actually somewhat relieved that they know I have no friends and that I watch their videos because it let's me experience that atmosphere of being around a group of friends. That's something I don't get in my actual life, but I still have an urge for.
Do you guys remember when that Tomb Raider guy was on a dude soup podcast? And he gave very vague, hugely elongated answers about how great the console was and so on. That reminds me when they are talking about people from the company being as distant as they could when it came to answers.
I thought James' argument about game addiction was very eloquent. He made some legitimate points and defended his position extremely well. Funhaus as a whole provides some of the best games industry debate around.
Great conversation as always. Adored the Turok gameplay, hard to believe its been almost 19 years since I played it. Can't believe how well it ran either.
To be fair, I honestly think that funhaus (especially what they do on the know) is the closest thing I've got to actual games journalism. Professionalism and research included while still remembering that these are video games and don't have to be taken that seriously
If you can look past the cults, scrobbles, and Justin Beiber covers then yeah you might be right
+Louis Norton I think those should all be the new standards of gaming journalism.
+Kenneth Christian Agustin Inb4 Totalbiscuit and Jim Sterling. Hell, let's put Dodger in there as well :))
+Louis Norton those come with it
+Conspiracy Cat well it's much better than than just reading press releases 😂
You guys may or may not have been right all year (w/ HL3 I couldn't agree more), but one thing's for certain, everyone in the FH community has been really appreciative of the dedication that you all have put into entertaining us with really fun and engaging content all year long.

Thank you Funhaus for contributing to this really great year.
+Castus13 nah they where funny in IG. Maybe the content is getting too old (and they know it) That are making unfunny animations now.
+Victor_714 You do know they only make one animation a month and another guy makes it. its a recap of the funniest moments in that month
The Chef of CS:GO whatever, retarded content for retarded audience.
+Victor_714 so you still watch the content? That's like despising a music genre and listening to it all the time. Why don't you just watch IG videos all the time if you miss it so much or better yet find some other group? This was one of the best Dude Soups so far. Gameplay was entertaining and conversations were enjoyable, especially the final one about addiction.
+MerkRampage Yeah, I loved the way they got sorta personal with their opinions on the matter and how they all stood up for what they believed in. Made for a very interesting episode.
+ibrahims 20 (iby20) I'm more on team James in that particular discussion, but I definitely see where Adam is coming from.
+MerkRampage Agree
+MerkRampage It is the third one I listened to and the only one I listened to in total. It had pretty interesting duscussions and I might add it to my list of podcast but I feel like this one just stood out in quality from the other episodes. Because it is just a small sideproject podcast it misses structure and seems less prepaired unlike big productions like NPR podcasts.
+MerkRampage Wow spoiler bro i just got to the addiction part and you say its the final topic?!?!
Did you say INSIDE GAMING circles?
+Julio Gallegos Ha. I caught that too.
+Bruce Greene you are a cutie
such a cutie
This was the most educational and intriguing bowl of dude soup I've seen. I love that everyone could give their opinion and explain why and then have a civil conversation about differing opinions
They are the dads I never had.
Kinda good for You that You didn't had DADS...
+The36th what's the problem with having dads haha
The36th You've still not said what's wrong with it and why.
59:00 and on. Very real. I think these are amazing, almost no-effort, ideas that could be easily implemented and would help a lot of people.
Another great discussion this week! These podcasts are always the best hour of the week. Merry Christmas to all of you!
This dude soup was fucking awesome. The gameplay was actually really fun/funny to watch, and the conversations were really engaging and I loved it. The dude soup ep's that make me think are personally my favourite. Good job!
It's amazing how entertaining and informative they can be in every video. It's truly impressive!
Kovic's kinda contradicting himself...On an interview with Greg miller he said he doesn't play Fo4 cause its has a quicksave option and hes not a child.... Now he says he plays it because of the quicksave and jokingly that he's a "old man"
kovic kind of has some loose lips lol
+MementoAnxius I like him though he's a good man
rhn94 Ive been watching him since Halo 3 Inside Gaming...?
They all flip flop another example is James saying Kickstarter is shit then psyconaunts 2 is on Kickstarter he tells everyone to give them money on Kickstarter.
+CJ Ware How long ago was this interview? Any chance his perspective/views simply changed since then?
This has to be one of the best Dude Soups. The constant back and forth debating is podcast entertainment at its best.
I'm so glad that James and Lawrence were calling Adam out on his bullshit
I'm 30, love poop jokes and enjoy well thought out and articulated internet conversation... THANKS FUNHAUS
The argument at the end was basically Socialism (State has responsibility to the individual) vs Libertarianism (State should not restrict the market).
+TheGroucho66
This can be easily explained.
Thanks so much and "Happy New Year"
I don't think $7000 will fix literally quitting life for Fallout.
This may have been the best Dude Soup I've watched so far, I really enjoyed the discussion in the second half of the video and I hope we see this side of Funhaus a little bit more often. Also, I really do enjoy the news stories you guys have provided for us this year and I hope you guys keep up the good work.
Feels a bit weird that I have been listening to this while playing Skyrim for 8 hours straight at almost 4 am. I should sleep.
Who else thinks Lawrence is the coolest in the group. But James is by far the funniest.
lol
+Christopher mcdowall Lawrence and Adam are the more serious ones, while James, Bruce and Joel are the funny ones. I don't find Spoole that funny at all. And Peake is god
+Christopher mcdowall I think Elyse and Spoole are funnier
It's not the government's job to protect me from myself.
+Aaron B Sometimes I think it is. Actually often.
Ulysses101 if you want to live under a dictators rule then it is. But in a free society that isn't the government's job.
+Ulysses101 absolutely wrong. unless you live in North korea.
The best thing we can do is attempt progress ourselves, as opposed to demand everyone around flash warnings in our faces.
i have depression and video games make me happy. if i could ill sleep eat game repeat. but there is all ways someone to get in the way.
the addiction debate near the end was just beautiful. nearly everyone had different opinions on it. enjoyed that immensely, good job guys.
just checked the Boonty Wikipedia page. Didn't know Funhaus acquired Boonty in May 2015
Lol that is awesome!!! I just looked it up. It's bullshit but still hilarious.
+Barny5ive the addition for December 2015 is great! wp fans xD
I love Funhaus so fucking much
If this discussion had lasted another hour, I would have gladly watched. There aren't many places in our society where you can find such deep discussion and debate. I applaud you guys for marrying humor and fun with intelligence.
In the 6th sense, Bruce Willis was dead all along.
Wow, fuck you dude!
+Goose yep, in the comic into the great unknown, I didn't know anyone else read that
This podcast was incredibly refreshing, because I love to just switch my brain off and watch content, but there is something rewarding about listening to an intellectually stimulating conversation about some relevant social issues.
I'd say Stalin or Mao was worse than Hitler
Genghis Khan was worse than all 3.
+gnarkillguch They were talking about modern history
+Absolute Bloom nah Caesars legion was way worse
Nino Did you even read my comment?
+Nino Which Ceasar? Because none of them have even half of the blood spilled that the 3 people already mentioned has.
I recently showed a couple of my friends some of your videos to show what they've been missing out on and now they are regular viewers like myself.
wheres shenmue! it got more views then most videos yet they stop it half way?
Views aren't priority for them, and they all don't like playing it 😂
+Luke Woods games awful... but it's so funny
+KS R I think they should play Shenmue 2 - it's a little faster paced. Outside Xbox played it if you want to see it.
+Rebecca Johnson the comedy was gold with that game.... even the whole 1 hour live feed was awesome. how they revisit it again. few of the gta videos and demo disks suck so hope they pick up on it
hope°
One of the best podcasts you guys made this year, great work you have done here!
Why was the thumbnail changed?
The thumbnail mentioned GOTY, but that wasn't really mentioned at all(probably for the next Dude Soup). They really just talked about the news stories they covered on whether they were legitimate or not.
The Man Who Sold The World Alright I see now.
Keep doing what you're doing, guys.
Can't imagine a day without some of your content.
While being over critical towards development teams is harmful to gaming, so is acting as if everything is fine and nothing should change.
if they enjoy the game, they enjoy the game. get over yourself man.
Bruce and Lawrence still play it nightly. It's ok to enjoy a game when other people don't. Shenmue 3 is being made isn't it?
John Zoidberg I'm immortal.
+John Zoidberg I agree
+John Zoidberg Oh no how dare they like a game from thr big bad EA. Even if the game is fun, how dare they
I've been watching these guys for a long time and I can honestly say I like how Lawrence has developed over time. He's very well informed and very well spoken on the subjects, bravo.
Yes you were right about everything, even battlefront being an amazing game- zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
+Spike Kastleman
[...] *But I do not believe in games being addictive like cigarettes or heroin.* [...]
Wrong.
I appreciate your decency and not-trolley-ness. But I am not wrong. That is my opinion, not fact. =]
LOL. You're pretty ignorant, eh?
+Spike Kastleman When you align an opinion with statements that can be factually proved right or wrong, your so-called opinion can indeed be subjected to criticism. Stop stroking your ego - you are wrong. Addiction is not something you can simply believe to be there or not; addiction is something that is medically proven.
really enjoyed this.btw, i was a heroin addict for twelve years and a meth addict for two, when i got clean i began gaming muc more and am now a daily gamer and it helps me keep my mind busy when i have down time and helps keep me out of trouble.
my story isnt important but it was nice hearing the subject talked about in relation to gaming, just addiction in general i mean.
love the cast and all the Haus, keep it up
Stop having such thin skin. Jeez reporters will face criticism.
I'm a 42 year old woman who loves this podcast and you guys are great!
Maybe you guys shouldn't be talking about medical conditions you have no knowledge about. Fuck, watching this almost made me angry
It really burned you up didn't it? It's a hot subject. I am sorry am I fanning the flames? You need to cool off a bit :)
#trollbait
+Andrew Crockett Nice ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
+Andrew Crockett You just added in trollbait to make the trolls piss off.
btw, I agree.
well he didn't say anything non-constructive or non-thought provoking so if he was attempting to troll then I have indeed missed it.
+gamma00crucis Well if it is then he did a good job.
These guys know the business well and even if they are mostly known for their comedy, they have been working in this business for years.
Good idea for a podcast. Clever way to send off the year, looking back at everything that has happened and has changed.
I wish I could join you guys one day
Loved the discussion/debate at the end.
Great Vid.
Best UA-cams you guys can have my Internet! Love you guys you are the best
thank you for touching on mental illness like depression and addiction x (y'all are awesome)
one of my favorite podcasts of all time; thank you funhaus.
Addiction is defined by two things:
1) Tolerance Levels
2) Withdrawal Symptoms
So a person can drink 1 coke and feel super good, but then the next week they'll have to drink 2 cokes to get the same feeling, but technically won't be addicted.
I love how they dodged the question of them playing up the "internet friend" angle
Just got my first funhaus shirt! love how you guys are not pushy with money or anything so i felt compelled to contribute.
What an insightful and entertaining podcast. Definitely gonna keep watching you guys on Funhaus.
this year i was thankful for Joel's beautiful vid descriptions... thank you joel :)
+TheDecree93 also joels descriptions are addicting and i demand a warning label or will sue for all of the screaming turok triangles....that is all
I can't wait for the fresh bowls of dudesoup in 2016 happy holidays u guys :)
On the subject of game addition and depression this is my experience:
First off, I have a full time job and have no problem (anymore) to talking and interacting with anyone(work related, random person in a store, etc.)
I've been told I'm addicted to games, but I know I'm not.
Best podcast in quite awhile guys, good work!
Merry Christmas to the greatest bunch of dudes and gal.
"we are peoples internet friends" *joel shakes head 1:05:44
I love the way you guys dive into why gamers act the way we do about gaming news. Really interesting stuff.
I'm actually somewhat relieved that they know I have no friends and that I watch their videos because it let's me experience that atmosphere of being around a group of friends. That's something I don't get in my actual life, but I still have an urge for.
I'm a game developer and I listen to your podcast, and I like it.
all these dude soups all coming out! it's great!!!
Do you guys remember when that Tomb Raider guy was on a dude soup podcast? And he gave very vague, hugely elongated answers about how great the console was and so on. That reminds me when they are talking about people from the company being as distant as they could when it came to answers.
Brought up a lot of really good points about consumers and how companies in some ways control what the player wants.
last topic was great! keep up the good job, and I hope you guys get bigger and better next year.
I actually listened to this podcast all the way through for once. Kept me interested. 👏🏾
When Adam was talking about internet friends, Joel was shaking his head in disapproval in the background.
