- Hello,
Thanks for checking out the video. This video goes over the details of the new Vortex Optics Strike Eagle 5x25x56 rifle scope. Some of the topics covered are the unboxing and packaging, the Rev Stop System, Glass caparison, and video of sending some rounds down range.
So what are my initial thoughts... I really like this scope. 10 Mil turrets, the Rev Zero Stop, locking windage and elevation, the new EBR-7C reticle, positive clicks for both windage and elevation. Below is a link to read up on all the information about the new scope.

I mounted this on a CZ 455 in a PDC customs chassis that I use for NRL22 competitions. I this this scope is a great fit for someone looking at getting into NRL22 or NRL22X while staying under the $1000 MSRP price point for glass.
If I had to spend the money again would I buy this optic? Yes, I feel this is a good fit for my application of NRL22 style shooting. Does that mean this is a 22lr scope? By all means no, I could just as easily put this on an AR platform and been just as impressed. In fact, when I complete my 6.5 CM build I plan to run this scope during the break in process just to try it on a larger caliber.
I have seen many people in the comment sections of social media posts asking about the glass. Well, I think it is pretty nice. In the video I compared it the a Diamondback Tactical and a Viper PST Gen II and all three preformed well. The 275 yard target I used was in the shade and all three scope seems to have some issue with clarity in the video but that could just be the use of a Phone Skope and phone rather than the bare eye looking though it. Over all my eye isn't good enough to tell major difference's in glass, even though Vortex states that the glass is a Viper PST Gen II is better quality than the Strike Eagle. I just can't tell.
Thank you for actually showing the glass clarity differences!
Luis Castillo you’re welcome. Figured people would want to see
The zero stop takes up alot of elevation away.
Good video.Thanjs for showing us
That’s a lot of scope for a 22. I put one on a 7mmMag.
Also put a Venom waiting on Mosin and a Diamondback Tactical on my 6.5CM.
My wife has a Venom on her 6.5CM.
Once you get above the Diamondback you get zero stop and 34mm tube.
Great scopes
I used it on a 22 because that's what I was heavily into at the time.
I bought the Strike Eagle and should get it delivered in 3 days. Im looking forward to getting some time behind it. I am mounting it on a LaRue 7.62×51. This scope has everything I was looking for at a price I could afford. I had narrowed my choices to the Primary arms glx, and the Arkin. I got the Vortex because the primary Arms was only a 30mm tube and the Arkin has a very thin reticle and no illumination so I would have had a hard time seeing the reticle at low magnification.
Im putting it in a LaRue mount.
infidel66687 that sound like its gonna be an awesome set up
Great review, your channel is why i bought my strike eagle. Mounted it the other day its great worth every penny.
Bobby Haney awesome to hear and very humbled. I hope it treats you well. I’m gonna move mine to my rimx when the barrel arrives
@@AZHOTROD84 i bought a Xcaliber 1-9 twist 26 inch bull barrel and put it on my old wore out 110 savage action. I set it in a chote stock, its a shooter. Yeah ill but the Dimond back ffp back on the 22 250. The strike eagle is for a creedmor Remage build thats coming up. Do a reveiw on your rifle when its done id like to check that out. Thanks
Bobby Haney will do
What rings did you go with?
@@weaver909 seekins 34mm high when I got mine they're on sale at Midway $114
Mine gets here monday, excited for it
Hurtado_ISF I’m sure you’ll love it
That vortex is hopefully my next scope.
Vortex's answer to Athlons mid priced scopes.
Excellent review and I've subscribed to your channel...
Vince Hughes it is. I’m really impressed so far
For those who would like to do side-by-sides of the glass quality:

Strike Eagle

Keep in mind the camera doesn't offer a 100% faithful representation of the glass differences, but thanks OP for the comparisons!
Unfortunately, on a side by side comparison of different scope glass, a cell phone only shows the limitations that a cell phone has, minus exposing chromatic aberration and purple fringing, ( All three showed a substantial amount regardless ) with limited dynamic range, and noise levels taking over resolution. It was a good attempt though. In terms of sharpness, very difficult to tell the difference with cell captures.
The Diamondback Tactical shots appear to use the EBR-7C reticle. I believe that scope comes with the EBR-2C reticle. Maybe they got switched up somehow?
awesome thanks for that
My strike eagle is flawless tracks perfect and very clear glass awsome bang for the buck
Allen awesome
@@AZHOTROD84 it's on my 338 lapua and I stretched it out to 1200 and still have a nice crisp view optics perform better then I ever expected only think ide like is to have more travel from elevation with zero stop ring on but I. Going to machine a thinner one that will still give zero stop function but more travel for out to 2k
Allen great idea. Interested to see if that works
great video, thanks for comparing the images at different distances.
Luke Kruusmaa thanks for the support. I had fun making it
I sold my PST Gen I and bought one of these Strike Eagles. Still haven’t received it but I think I made the right choice. Maybe the glass quality isnt quite as good but it has way more features than my PST Gen II, especially that 34mm scope body!
Tyler Hussin I dont think you will be disappointed
It’s been two weeks, what do you think about your decision and the new scope? I’m deciding between scopes right now.
Tyler Young I hands down love the zeroing process. Way better than the pst. The glass is nice and clear. I can’t tell a major difference in glass. For the money I would buy a SR again.
Some of the higher end scopes actually have fewer features or the MOA is in 1/2 increments and not 1/4.
I love the intermediate scopes for the money.
@@theARK1T3CTI love mine from the Diamondback Tactical to the Strike Eagle to include my Venoms (2).
Would it be possible to post the photos thru the scopes side by side of all 3 at the same time? What zoom range were you using...I know DB Tactical gets real foggy at 24x Thanks for the review
Ray Coronado Jr. definitely looking to do that. Need to ensure I put out a solid product for you guys. Subscribe to the channel if you haven’t to ensure you don’t miss it
Incredible review!
FYI if you are a Vet or LE you can get 40% off the MSRP so if this optic is 799.99 you get it less than 480.00 and thats not a bad deal at all
yup that is true
Where?
@@rspeed3 email's,Vortex tell them you are a Vet or LE, assuming you are, and they will send you instructions on what to do.
@@usmcchet thanks, I see just need to send them my LEO credentials and done, thanks again.
I have the Vortex Viper PST GENll in EBR 7c MOA ....Nice...love the Vortex Razor 4000 rangefinder ...awesome.
Nice review but you should have given your pros cons of the 3...Strike Eagle looks good ...but for $300 more...get the gen ll viper pst!
Looked like some CA (false color) around the steel with the Strike Eagle - did it seem more apparent than on the PST? Could just be how I or your setup saw it IDK. Seemed about the same in all three.
Eric Pittman yea I was hard to get great clarity that day
Thanks a lot the the glass difference.
So would you say there is no difference between the PST G2 and the Strike Eagle ??
no problem, If there is a difference my eye couldn't tell
Thanks for the great review and for comparing the glass quality between the 3 scopes. Couple critiques- It would be nice to see the images of the glass side by side for comparison. It would also be good if you put COMPARISON in the description of the video. It was a nice surprise to get the still shots of each scope at longer ranges, but a lot of people will miss that part of the video thinking this is only a review of the strike eagle. I always felt like the PST ii needed the specs of the strike eagle. Locking turrets, 34mm tube, 56mm objective. I may wind up with a strike eagle based on that alone! Thanks again.
Joshua Reed great input. I will try to do an update video. I know another person is currently doing a comparison between 4 different Vortex scopes.
Eve is out that scope is pretty good except the fact that the zero stop completely robs 60% of the elevation. Takes it from 115 moa to 47. Complete bullshit. I shoot ELR so I need everything a scope has. So best bet is to mount it on a 55moa base and just bottom it out without the zerostop
Putting it on my .338 lapua savage 110ba stealth evolution
how long is the barrel w/o muzzle brake and how long is the chassis from front of trigger guard to end of forearm?
ending of the video doesn't have a conclusion. What are your thoughts on clarity between the three optics? Is the clarity of the strike eagle better, worse or on par with the PST?
NOCO Armory sorry bout that. I would say just below the pst if you know what your looking at. To a newer shooter I don’t think they would pick up the difference in glass.
Hey what kind of scope rings you have? I have a mpa 6.5 creedmoor. Just bought this scope for it and I was wondering.. would .95 or 1 inch rise be a better fit for the scope?
Heriberto Ramos I’m using seekins precision rings. 34mm low
Guy DeMarco ok so .95 then. Thanks 👌
Heriberto Ramos yea
Not sure if you’ve tried the Viper PST Gen II.. but if you compare it to the Strike eagle.. buck for buck which one would you lean more with ?
Moises Vargas if you watch the full video I do compare to the Viper PST Gen II for what I do, mainly NRL22, I’d go Strike Eagle. I haven’t tried it on a Centerfire...yet.
Guy DeMarco yeah you answered my question towards the end of the video lol! I’m just so anxious on trying to figure which one to go with ..
Moises Vargas no worries. It’s a tough call without seeing it
I haven't looked thru the gen 2 at 1k yards, but on my diamond back tactical, for me best is 16x its good for the features and price. As for the 4-16 gen 1 that glass blows away the diamond back tactical hands down at 1k yards . Then on the strike eagle 5-25 I honestly couldn't tell the difference of glass over the gen 1. The price difference between the gen 2 and strike eagle, I'd go strike eagle. Only thing about the strike eagle could be better would be the mushy turrets and not knowing how many revolutions past zero you've gone unless you're counting but can't visually see as u can on the gen 1 and gen 2. The strike eagle is a great option at its price point. But mine were on a 6.5 CM rifle.
I want to put this on a 308 and shoot a 1000 with 20 moa base. Will it work for that?
Where’d you get that Vortex banner?
John Fitting it was sent to me as promotional material for the matches that I host.
Gday mate do you think this scope would be better than the sightron s3
Bradley Tyrrell I have zero experience with sightron, but looking at the spec of the scope I think I comes down to application. Are you shooting anything inside of of 40 yards? What rifle is it going on.
@@AZHOTROD84 it's going on a browning ab3 6.5creedmoor shooting from 100-1250 metre's
What type of grip tape do you use. Guy. Bry
What 419 MOA rail are you using or is it a O MOA
Cade Corneliusen I use the Area 419 30 MOA base for all my 22 cal builds. I find with a 30 MOA rail I can zero at 50 and reach out to 300 easily.
New stock for your cz457 pro varmit?
Ammo Man no this is my cz 457 pro varmint. Still have the 457 in the original stock
Are those rings Low height?
Lorenzo Garcia yes these al low rings
How much elevation does the zero stop take away.. if any
Christopher Daigle so after installing rev stop I had 18.8mils of travel. It say there is 31 mil of max travel.
@@AZHOTROD84 that zero stop takes up 12 mills?
Definitely gonna be one of my to pics for when I get my ruger precision in 22
Top...
Christopher Daigle so it’s it’s weird how to explain it Vortex just did a IG live explaining it. I would say it takes up elevation I say it just gives you a different starting point
The atholton midas is 1000 dollars
this is a budget friendly option
I got mine 619.00 mounted on 6.5 creedmor savage model 10 . Zeroed with laser ran turrets completely up and down and wind age. Holds zero nice value for what I paid.
Where did you find that deal?
