    In this "Through The Scope" we go into some detail on the EBR-7C reticle, its features, strengths and weaknesses.
    It is a very successful design for Vortex, but since there is no limit to perfection, I spend some time analyzing how it could be improved for my purposes.
    The general Strike Eagle overview video is here:

    Nice work to help folks decide. Probably one of the best values available.

    Thanks for the review. The fine 0.1 mil markings on the top of the vertical and on the far right/left are very useful for fine "milling" of a target with a known size so the range can be back calculated. Great when you can't use a laser and need to estimate target distance.

    Excellent way to show what a scope can do.

    Good analysis. I agree the center dot area is too busy! I'd suggest 0.5 mil increments rather than 0.1 mil. or 0.2. That would still be more than accurate enough for hunting. Leave the 0.1 and 0.2 mil busy reticles for Precision Rifle contestants.

      I'm getting use to the MRAD 1 reticle at the moment. I've only done zeroing but loving it so far! It's on my Savage 110 desert tactical (kind of a long ranger precision rifle) but I think this reticle would work great on just about anything. The horseshoe dot makes acquisition very quick, the eye is naturally drawn into the fine center dot, the top half of the view is kept clean for target ID! (No stupid amount of hold under hashes on the top side... I've never used hold under! And I'm a lifetime hunter and recon Marine.) Yet plenty of windage and holdover hashes. Good reticle!

      a bit over 100 yards, if memory serves me right.

    Very interesting, and thank you for the review. While this review is primarily focused (no pun intended) on the reticle, I’d be interested to know how it compares to scopes in its similar price range (SWFA 3-9x42), and scopes in its respective design (Vortex Razor HD Gen II & Delta Stryker). Also, do you expect that this scope would make your list of recommended scopes in its price range?

      I released another Strike Eagle video (members only for now) a day earlier. Look for the introduction post on the community board. I think that will answer a lot of your questions. I will be happy to address whatever is not clear during the livecast on Thursday. I do talk about how it stacks up against the Stryker, since I have on here. Comparison with the SWFA 3-9x42 is not really apples to apples since the configurations are so different.

    Great video Ilya! Very informative.. Did you ever make a video on the ZCO 420 optic? I was just curious, because I wasn't able to find one.
    I think an ultra short comparison would make a great vid, ZCO420, S&B 3-20U/S, Kahles 3-18 etc.. Love your work mate!

      I do not think I ever did a standalone review, but I talked about it as a part of High End Tactical Part6, I think. opticsthoughts.com/?p=2567 ua-cam.com/video/Oqti51KdGug/v-deo.html
      In principle, I can borrow one from ZCO and do a detailed review once I get through my current backlog. The scope I looked at belonged to a friend and I did not want to hold it for too long.

    That edge distortion though! 😱

    • @DarkLordOfOptics

      The camera sees differently than human eye. I would not make too many image quality conclusions from videos like this. It was mostly made to show the reticle. Even a small camera misalignment will screw up how the edges look

      100% correct! To many people know nothing of what happens when you try to video a scope.

      That distortion is coming from his video camera lens, duh!
      I have a couple strike eagles, they are crystal clear, right to the edges.

    300$ rings tho ? so 799 scope 300 rings

    • @DarkLordOfOptics
      @DarkLordOfOptics  3 роки тому

      Why $300 rings? The rings in the picture in the beginning of the video are the US-mde UTG Pro 34mm that can be usually found in the $50 range bit.ly/3y7I1fg Another reasonable affordable ring I have had good luck with is Vortex Pro (also made in the US), but I do not think they make a 34mm version of it. If you want to stay with Vortex, you have to step up to their Precision matched rings that are around $150 bit.ly/3j61qsw. Still, a lot less than $300.

      @@DarkLordOfOptics every thing cost more in oz dint know to much about 34mm rings new to the ffp scopes i need look more into this

    • @DarkLordOfOptics
      @DarkLordOfOptics  3 роки тому

      @@17hmr243 I see. Yeah, I am not really up to speed on prices in Oz. I am sometimes willing to pay a fair amount of money for single piece mounts. For conventional split rings, in US funds, I generally set the limit at around $100 or so. I have looked at a ton of fancy rings and I do not get why I would want to pay $200-$300 for a set of those.
