Ex cell engineer here. -120 is the horrible end. It should work but it will suck. Very susceptible to interference. Strength isn't the whole story. You can have good strength but a totally polluted signal. -80 is a very nice average strength. You had -75 which trust me is awesome. This is an expensive unit but you have encouraged me to buy one.
Awesome video. I’ve been trying to decide on this for northern lower Michigan. Only 10-12 miles from the closest tower, but barely any service. Gives me some hope that it will work!
I live in a dead zone basement condo in a well populated area. My problem is not the “in the middle of nowhere” syndrome. My problem is that no condo manager or homeowners association is going to allow a 25 foot pole to be extended right outside your condo. I have a we boost eqo booster. It does not work hardly at all with GSM carriers. It works significantly well with CDMA carriers, but not good enough. MAYBE if you have roof access, (which I don’t), might it actually improve the signal well enough.
Marshall Curtis that is a tricky situation. One thing that works for me when I'm working in the basement of my house shooting videos is turning on the Wi-Fi calling feature of my smart phone. Of course I'm not sure if your phone has that capability or if you have Internet in your location. But Wi-Fi calling can piggyback phone calls as well as your data off of your Internet connection allowing you to make better phone calls. Have you looked into that at all? If I come up with a better solution for you I will let you know. Thanks for the question and happy camping. Jim
Get a weboost for home and office. Sneak the cable up a gutter spout or window frame and zip tie the small omni-directional antenna to something on thewall or roof. It might even work to just set it at the top of your window well or hide it behind a bush etc.... ANYTHING to get the weboost external antenna outside could do the trick.
I got the WeBoost sleek trucker version, and it has worked excellently with Boost Mobile in most of the lower 48 states. My Question is. Can one of the other internal antennas be used to replace the handset cradle booster???? I hate having to drag the cable from the dash back to the sleeper, and visa versa.
I'm pretty sure they're designed to work with the particular booster that comes with the system. But I'll see if I can't look into that and if I find anything different I'll let you know. Thanks for the comments and happy camping. Jim
What kind of range in your RV do you receive from the inside antenna on both the connect 65 booster system and the drive 4gx-xrv system. trying to decide which one to purchase and need as much coverage inside as possible. I know it depends on the outdoor strength signal but please compare from the same location from using both if you have that info. if not an average lenght will do. Thanks !
The 4 GX system has a fixed antenna on the roof so it's great for driving around and still getting a boosted signal. The connect 65 has the large raising antenna so is much better suited for campsite setup but not suitable in windy conditions or while traveling. The range and signal strength is far superior with the extended antenna obviously but cannot be used while in transit. I cannot do a range comparison without going into the field to test it. I will keep that in mind for a future video. I wish I could be more help. Thanks for watching and happy camping.
Could one use this system as a semi portable system? I’m thinking this could be used with a portable battery bank and maybe anchoring the antenna to a tree. Could be useful for a base camp signal booster. What are your thoughts?
Cool idea. I see no reason why that would not work. Just hook up a power supply and maybe some solar and you would be good to go. You also would not have to worry about wind if the pole is tethered to a tree securely. Thank you for the comment and happy camping. Jim
David, I can see your question about N"ew used RV water tanks" on my phone but can not find or respond to it on UA-cam using mobile or desktop. UA-cam does this all the time. Please repost in another comment so I can read your question and try to help. Thanks. Jim
fullmoonadventureclub Hi Jim my question is when I fill the water when I parked after trip. I drained the fresh tank by running the faucet. The black tank wasn’t used on the trip. Is there a way to drain the fresh water more effectively than using the the faucet and how long is the water good do I need to flush the fresh water by refilling and turning on sinks? I guess the main question is how do I keep the fresh tank fresh after being in the hot South Carolina heat and sun? I wanna use it this weekend and completely forgot I had a few gallons in the tank and I don’t want to get sick. Thank you in advance you’ve been a big help
@@retiredk9copper726 If you look by the hot water heater there should be two drain plugs. The low point drains are located near the hot water heater in most cases. You can probably track down their location by looking underneath the RV and you will see two small pipes hanging down four or six inches below the under carriage. Then look inside the RV in that general area and you should find 2 valves or pull up tabs on your hot and cold water pipes. This method is the easiest way to drain your freshwater tank without using your water pump and without filling up your Gray tank. If you're worried about sanitizing your freshwater tanks you can just add A small amount of bleach to your freshwater tank fill run it through all of your pipes until you smell bleach at the faucet and then draining, filling, and flushing the system a couple times to get rid of the bleach. I hope that helps. Jim
I wish you would have done a Mbs test. DB is just for signal strength but Mbs shows upload and download stats for actual use. If I can be impressed it would be with a Mbs test.
I could have sworn that was in this video. I've done several tests for weboost products and I usually include a megabytes per second test within the video. Thanks for the comment I'll make sure to include that from now on I'm surprised I didn't. Jim
@@geraldhenrickson7472 I have this unit permanently installed on my RV. And as soon as I take it out again into an area with poor signal strength I will be sure to test the megabytes per second. And I'll let you guys know in a video or in the comments here. Thank you for the comment and happy camping. Jim
Yeah, a strong signal is one part of the equation. The other is how stable and clean that signal is. If you're getting a ton of dropped packets because he signal is just too noisy and barfing all over the spectrum, you're gonna have a bad time. That's really down to how well the amplifier was made.
I connected to verizon. We had 1 bar before the booster and 3 or 4 after. I thought I did a speed test in the video. I have other reboots reviews with data speed tests on my channel. I hope that helps. Jim
That is a great question. I do not believe it has a sign in or any method of allowing certain phones to connect while keeping other phones locked out. It just boosts the signal for surrounding phones. However, the range of the internal antenna is designed to cover the inside of one RV so the range is pretty tight. I would not be to concerned about losing signal to your neighbors. JIm
How close to the inside antenna did you have your phone to get those readings? We have another WeBoost product, but have to have the cell phone or MiFi device right next to the inside antenna to get the the best improvement in signal. If we have our phones or MiFi device even six feet away we get very little signal boost. Great video! Thanks
When I did my test I was about 2 feet away from the cell phone booster indoor antenna. I have also noticed significant drop off the further away from the booster you get. However, in most situations I'm usually just sitting at the table next to the indoor antenna and the results are pretty good. Jim
Thanks for the quick response. We usually have our indoor antenna across the RV from us, each on our own device. I just wondered if it is normal for the indoor signal to decrease that much in a few feet. Seems to defeat the purpose of the indoor antenna if you have to be that close to it to get the best boosted signal. Thanks again!
This some what answered my question as I was thinking when you boost the signal everyone in a 200ft radius was going to jump onto my weboost signal and eat up all my bandwidth.
I’m curious the result difference between mast raised and mast down position. In Wyoming there’s lots of high winds. Did you get a chance to see how that mast works on high winds days?
Yes I did. A huge gust of wind came of the lake during testing and sent my camera into the lake while I was lowering the Weboost pole. While the pole survived the wind it was flexing very hard. I would not use it on windy days unless you are close by to lower it when necessary. It still works like a normal signal booster when down but you will lose the benefit of getting over obstructions that may cut down signal. Jim
Hello, do you know if you are in close proximity to another camper using the outside Weboost pole, will there be any interference? Or could you piggyback off their pole with the mobile Weboost?
There should not be any interference. However, you can not piggyback off someone else's antenna. Your antenna will be the only signal you bring in. I hope that helps. Take care and happy camping. Jim
