Guys I’m home I’m safe & it’s all good. I hope I was wrong. I hate to believe there’s people out there like that who want to do bad things. But regardless this video was solely posted to raise awareness to be AWARE! Stay Safe everyone ❤❤❤
Glad you are safe and bringing awareness to personal safety. Many, if not most, homeless people are armed to protect themselves, so don’t assume they are harmless.
It’s crazy!!!!!! I just came back home to Vietnam after 5 years in Canada (safer than the states, but countless times I was run after by intoxicated mens on the streets, or mens tried to harass me in both public & private settings). And I just want to say it’s insaneeeeeee!! I don’t encounter things like that here (Vietnam) as much (still happen but much less), people do look & stare but nothing to the extreme like following or grabbing like what I have experienced in Canada. What the f is wrong with mens?
I was running on a nature preserve in So Cal area when all of the sudden this cop car pulled right next to me. I had headphone, listing to loud music. It was a women cop and she was pissed at me! She said “I’ve been following you for 10 min and you had no idea! Do you know that someone can jump from the bushes and attack you and you never hear it coming. Always have one ear open to listen, never play loud music and be aware of your surroundings”. This was 10 years ago and since then, I follow her advice everywhere I go.
Absolutely. Why would anyone erase one of their primary defensive tools? The sense of hearing is pretty much going to alert you in the 5 seconds (or more) that your eyes are not on a potential assailant. A LOT of ground can be covered in a hand full of seconds in an attack.
Now, that you said that. I thought I was paranoid. Everyday, I take walks around my neighborhood, or sweep outside my front yard. Then, these old dudes keep taking long glances at me are so creepy, considering I'm not even remotely interested. They stare, and I don't know how to get them to look away. Sometimes, I feel people groping my butt or something else but I don't have any proof.
So true ! I was running in my neighborhood less than a mile away from my house. I was 6 weeks postpartum and didn’t think I’d ever be targeted. But some guy that lives in my neighborhood started following me. I thought it was postpartum anxiety. Nope, he tried cornering me and lunged at me. I was literally playing chicken with some predator on the street where I live 😰. He didn’t catch me because I listened to my instincts. If behavior is suspicious, do something to protect yourself. We have to stop giving people the benefit of the doubt at the expense of our own safety.
Predators often use that benefit of the doubt against us. That moment of “ami just being paranoid??” Is your biggest moment of weakness and they know it! I am SO sorry that happened to you, and am so glad you’re okay!!
🙌🏻 THIS!!! I recently avoided walking up to my car on the drivers side, because there were two guys hanging out between my car and theirs. Something to me to not approach. I KNEW it would look obvious that I didn’t trust them if I didn’t walk up to my car door, but so what!! They looked like they were all comfortable hanging out for a while, leaning against their car, etc, but luckily when I acted like I was getting something from the other side of my car (and I did get my gun out! Ha!), they drove off. If you end up being wrong about a guy, he’ll understand you were just being cautious anyway. As women, we have to play it safe! I’m glad you’re okay!! 🙏🏻
Never walk alone on trails wearing earbuds. I’m glad you were somewhat aware of your surroundings but you need to be able to hear your surroundings too
Transparency/passthrough mode works pretty well with airpods pros, although I personally still only wear one while in public. But I also carry a firearm so being aware of my surroundings on top of that goes a long way. Protect yourself and yours by any means.
Wild animals will hiss or rattle first as a warning before attacking. Wearing earphones is a bad idea on an outdoor trail. Might even miss the sound of thunder a storm system from afar, than can cause flashflooding if you’re in a lower elevation.
@@jpogigtxcr1778hat are you even talking about? Lol a flash flood is so random. I ise headphones all the damn time. Never had flash flood problems never had problems with animals. I’m sure for people without common sense yeah maybe not best to multi task but a lot of people can still be aware of their surroundings. It’s not that hard.
@@xaphan8581 If you're running a trail that's in a creek bed, flash floods are a real thing. The more common 'city folk' issue is people who walk/run along train tracks. Don't pay attention and get 'in the zone' and get ran over by a train (or drown in a flash flood). As for common sense, next time you're on a Multi-use trail... look at the number of people who are self absorbed on their phones, music, exercise that they don't hear you coming up and actually jump when someone says, 'good morning.' For the vast majority of people, they think they're far too safe and don't pay any attention to what they're doing and for many, become dangerous obstacles as they move erratically on the multi use trails.
Girl you are not just being paranoid! A man followed me around Walmart for an hour last week. Followed me through all the women’s clothing sections & tried to hide behind racks, into jewelry, into the literal purse aisle, then deep into the makeup aisle. After an hour he had a fully EMPTY cart. Caught him taking a pic of me I believe as well. I took a pic of him & reported him the to store manager. I was gaslighting myself the whole time thinking no I’m just misinterpreting his actions. Nope, turned out he literally was the entire time. Trust your gut & do what you need to do to protect yourself! Those gut feelings are legit angels!!!
A guy also followed me the entire time I was shopping at Tesco. Every time I went to another aisle, suddenly he was there too. He had initially commented something to me, catcalling me. I ignored but it started to be even scarier because I don't usually follow the order going from aisle ls 1,2,3 etc. I went all the way back and kept jumping corridors and there was NO way this man also had the same groceries in mind to always be near me
There was a serial r@p!st in a town I lived in who would find all his victims at one grocery store and follow their car back home and attack them as they're walking inside. His name is Oswald Scott Wilder Jr. Edit: I would advise anyone who is being followed in a grocery store to stop, stare down that person dead in the eye and assertively ask "can I help you?" It will let them know you will be a difficult victim and move on. Then tell the managers after and have someone walk with you to your car, then make a few circles as you drive home to make sure you aren't being followed. And if you've got a big pair of ovaries, get yourself a 🔫 license and start carrying it.
@@AD-eg9cw Great advice but you can't always have someone walk you to your car. People are normally busy, unless you always have someone nice there with you (preferably bigger than you) walking you from the store all the way to your car or just anywhere. A lot of times women are by themselves when going about their day.
As a father with daughters I always tell them to be aware of your surroundings and keep your head in a swivel. A few years ago on a trail run I saw in the distance a man approaching the lady runner in front of me. He had an overcoat on and it was 80 degrees. Very strange. He didn’t see me and was focused on the lady. I turned the corner and ran towards her grabbing her attention and telling her about the man that was walking towards her. As soon as he saw me he immediately turned around and walked the opposite way. She thanked me and we finished the run back to her car. Dad instincts I guess.
I drive 2750 miles to see you wanting to surprise you and this is what I get 🤪?? Lolololol. I'm from Los Angeles so I ain't surprised. Carry Pepper spray and always look around and maybe don't do solo runs in isolated places. It's our reality
Exactly!!! I kept myself safe recently, and I _know_ it was obvious that I just didn’t trust two guys who were nearby and a little suspicious, but who cares!!
"You don't owe strangers the benefit of the doubt." is some pretty good advice... it's hard not to think you're just paranoid or judgmental but... safety is more important at the end of the day
@@PeaceIsYeshua honestly sometimes that’s good. What I’ve learned is, if you feel uncomfortable around men who you think may have bad intentions or even be predators is take advantage of the fact that virtually no criminal wants to be put in jail, and they also like easy targets. Make sure to look at their face (or at least their general direct to get a general outline of their looks) so that if you were asked to pick between a selection of men or draw a sketch, you could do so. Second, if you have a phone on you, make it obvious that you do and either fake a call (they won’t want to be caught on an audio call) or just seeing it they know you can call 911 at any moment and have the cops there in a few minutes. Third, make sure you frequently look around in all directions so they know you are watching what’s around you and they won’t want to mess with you bc it may prove too hard for them. Lastly, ofc is they do happen to do smth to you, right back as hard as you can bc if you can injure them, even if it’s mild, it can deter them. Just like how animals rarely fight a battle they aren’t sure they can win bc they don’t want to be hurt themselves.
Agree! As a woman who walks her small dog alone, sometimes people look slightly offended if I don't smile at them or say hi. I'm not a performing clown and I don't know what kind of person you are so don't expect me to be friendly! Also if you look in any way suspicious you get a pissed-off look from me! 😄
Its not a "voice" , its the scary inviroment that patriarchy has created for women. A man in her position wouldn't feel THAT scared by another man. It's this simple.
@@tatertotter808 wow, I’m just going to state this, homeless people can just be as dangerous as someone with bad intentions towards you. I’m from a a big city and i have seen first hand a homeless person attack someone for not giving them spare change. Also she’s not being a bigot, she’s being a realist, grow up and maybe get out of your little western bubble
This is a good public service announcement. Seriously, situational awareness is the most important step to your safety. Most people who want to do harm are looking for easy targets to ambush. If they know you are merely aware of their presence and are not distracted, most of the time is enough to prevent an attack.
@@redrobotmonkey when I see a homeless guy with a backpack cruising my neighbor hood looking at every porch…you bet your ass I call the cops! MF’r is casing houses for opportunity. F that guy.
So the guy looked about 25 to 30 with a backpack and on top of all these things he had been following her for about a mile. The only other option of not walking behind you for a mile would probably be if he was walking in the opposite direction... If he's out there doing the same thing that you're doing then he only has two choices to walk on the road and path you guys and girls falling for this book why didn't you show us the guy that was doing all these things! All jokes aside I really am serious and wondering why she didn't flip her little phone around and show us this guy. Do you guys want to wear this man might be? I'm just saying why didn't she put the camera on this man and let us see this since she said he exists. I don't understand why she wouldn't do that? Wouldn't most of you people do something like that
@@Hope...M She probably did not want to put him out there like that on the internet when she was merely being cautious. He technically did nothing wrong, just acting in a suspicious manner.
@@walrus-splice-renewableno if you are “perceived” by the other person as not being aware it will also impact your safety. Best practice is to let them KNOW you are aware, can hear them etc!
My kid still doesnt get that. I haven't worn both since I was young. My parents fought a lot and wearing only one bud I learned how to jump in when needed to keep things from getting worse. Then as I started going places it just seemed natural to keep one out in case of emergency.
I hate how true this is. A year and a half ago, in January, I was walking my dog around our neighborhood. It was 11:30 AM and thought we wouldn’t have any issues. That day, as we were walking, I noticed this white truck/SUV just sitting there at the stop sign behind us. There were no cars there, at first I thought maybe they were on their phone or something. I shrugging it off, but something just did not feel right. The truck then started moving but it was going at a very creepy slow crawl towards my dog and I. They were definitely not acting like someone trying to find an address. I finally turned my head, letting them see that I saw them and they stopped the car. I proceeded to keep walking and the car started moving slowly towards us again. It was at that point I heard a voice in my head say “RUN!” We started running to the Main Street but there were no cars in sight. As soon as I ran I heard screeching tires. They sped off super fast across the way. I got on my phone and called my Husband, slowing down, thinking that I was safe. I was still on the phone with him when I noticed the same vehicle coming towards me again. I realized I couldn’t outrun him, my house was still blocks away and I didn’t dare lead him to my street. It wasn’t t the wisest thing, but I ran into the nearest alley and hid behind someone’s shed. My dog was amazing, she listened to every command I told her. Normally she gets antsy when I have her sit still, but that day she just laid with me quietly. With my Husband on the phone still, I waited to come out of hiding until I knew he was RIGHT there to pick me up. When he arrived I came out and saw the vehicle with a 35-40 year old man sitting in the diver’s seat, across the street. As soon as I started running, I heard an engine roaring to life. I didn’t look back, I just went straight for my Husbands car and jumped in the back. We made sure to drive around a few blocks before we went home. I’m so mad because to this day, I can’t walk my dog in our neighborhood or anywhere anymore. The experience still haunts me and paralyzes me ever time I see a car pass me. It was such a great bonding time for me and my dog and now we have been robbed of that.
@@susanjeffries5108 It definitely was. I’m so sorry that you encountered someone following you in your car. Regardless of whether you were walking or driving, the fact is the same, some stranger was following you. Both scenarios are terrifying. I hope driving hasn’t been difficult for you now. 🙁
This is terrifying. I feel so bad for you! It’s so exhausting and draining to always be 100% alert and constantly scanning my surrounds as a woman. Sometimes I just want to be out in public and relax for half a second, but sadly we don’t live in that kind of world anymore. 😕
@@allergictohumansnotanimals5671 I do that quite a bit! 😉 that’s actually what I prefer to do! But unfortunately we still have to go out and it’s exhausting when when we do.... 😪
@@whitykitty2651 YES. YES TO THIS. 100%. Exhausting is an understatement.
You don’t owe anyone benefit of the doubt!! 20 years ago, my sister’s high school classmate disappeared from the side of a busy freeway. Her car and purse were there. Her friends were with her minutes before. The man who eventually confessed had taken many other women and young girls. These people really are out there, you owe nobody anything. Don’t be polite, be safe! ❤✌️
🤨 💭 Hmmm, as someone who have 2 young girls. That’s extremely concerning & you have to be careful young lady. I wouldn’t want to hear anything happen to my girls. I’m sure your parents feel the same exact way…
We need more police especially on hiking trails. Your tax money should not go funding a proxy war but in making your citizens safe. Your president is a joke you need Trump again ASAP.
I'm 6' 3" and over 300lbs, first this I do when I step out of any building or even my car is take a good look around to make sure I'm aware of any person or animal nearby. Stay safe, It's your responsibility.
If you don't know the person, then never assume they are harmless. Doesn't matter if you are male or female. You never know if they're going to try to rob or kill or kidnap you. Always be aware and ready for anything. Take care everybody and God bless.
First of all: I am OK! Second of all, I was physically assaulted today. Still grappling with how it could have been my fault (I **know** that it’s not…but damn societal conditioning has me twisted). Fortunately & unfortunately, hear someone be else’s story is a helpful reminder for me that there are just simply people out there with potentially harmful intentions and that is not our fault, so we just stay aware and try to stay safe. I’m glad you’re OK too and I’m sorry the asshole ruined you run! 💜
I am very observant. If you float around me or circle me too many times I’m gonna straight up ask “are you following me?” 😂😅 some ppl are awkward, some ppl are dodgy you can definitely tell the difference if you’re looking. Also never be afraid of embarrassing yourself if you’re scared, make all the noise and be as loud as you can so others are aware of your situation
I heard in a self defense course that women are conditioned to not make a fuss, to be polite, etc. This causes us to keep our mouths shut until it's too late. While no one wants to be a shrieking shrew at a single glance, i completely agree with your approach of calmly calling them out on it. Don't be an easy mark.
"Always tell someone where your going" LOL - what good does that do for you? Only thing that accomplishes is to let them know where to find your brutalized body. The point of this video was to prevent harm from occurring in the first place.
As a women I don’t feel safe blasting music in my ears while walking or running. I need to hear everything around me. One day I foolishly was walking to my gym through the back alley streets blasting music. For no unexplained reason, my intuition hasn’t gone off, no feelings of danger… I just randomly spun around and saw this man reaching his arms towards me at a fast walking pace. I froze and said “oh hell no” and side stepped him and sped off in the opposite direction back towards the main road where people could see me. He jolted past me, put his arms down and played like he was headed to the parking lot. I don’t know who saved me but some sort of power above me had my back. I haven’t shared this story with anyone in my life because I don’t want to them to worry and become super paranoid because I like taking my walks. 😅 Ladies and gentlemen please be safe out there!
Have you ever pondered the thought that maybe that higher power who saved you was Christ Jesus? We are all aware that there’s a God. Your birth was not an accident. The Bible says God wishes that nobody goes to hell and he wants you to follow him. You are saved by Grace through faith. Peace to you.❤
Yeah that kind of thinking is just putting her (and others who think like this) in danger. People need to stop feeling guilty and "woke" about this. It can cost you your life
Yep that statement concerned me with that type of thought process. Most people are homeless because they are mentally unstable! Mentally unstable people in most cases are dangerous to others . 😮
Yup, in fact homeless people tend to be extremely violent. To anyone, but especially to women. Many are mentally ill, on drugs, and have nothing to lose.
@Maurice W she literally said "he looked homeless," so I'd say ask her. But also, while I agree you can't always tell so obviously, you know exactly what she means. Don't lie to us and yourself just to feel holier than thou.
This is so true!! My mom’s friend’s friend was running not too long ago with her headphones in … and someone grabbed her and assaulted her. So keep safe y’all!! Don’t run with both headphones in and stay aware of your surroundings at all times!!!!
Fucking lame how men can wear headphones and not bat an eye (usually) but women cant... someone design something that lets us listen to music and stay safe :/
Same here. Also, I like to run out in nature by the beach or through the woods and part of the experience is not having headphones on. I want to be present in nature.
Never, never use earphones. Be aware of your surroundings. Sometimes we feel like we are in a safe community, but there is always this one or a few distorted people amongst us.
I Suggest Be Very Careful when wearing any type of headphones, earphones, earpieces earbuds etc. I suggested this in my Safety Awareness book, I wrote many years ago,to use only one earpiece, and don’t use earphones or earbud, I wrote about this, and including about joggers Safety, and many other Safety Awareness Tips. In Addition whenever I am walking, I have kept my distance from others, because I don’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable, I have actually crossed the street to avoid any potential uncomfortableness for a woman. I am a Safety Advocate, Activist and I have been advising about these issues, I have also been walking and observed a Woman just beginning to run or jog about a couple short blocks away, ahead of where I was walking, and then started looking back at me, and staring several times while minding my own business I even slowed down my walking pace to allow for extra space, while not bothering anyone. You need to go and protest on the streets and demand more police every where. Also on hiking trails. It is your right to be safe and have your government protect you instead of using your money to fund proxy wars. You have a huge issue with mental health and homelessness which need to be addressed. Something can be done but starts from you. Boycott businesses, paralyze the all country until you are heard. That’s what I would do if I was an American citizen.

The feminist movement demonises men. However, it is less likely that a predator will attack a woman on a run/hike if she has a male companion. Buddy run/hike with a man.
Hey girl love your content! I just wanted to make sure that you’re safe while running and here is some advice! When you’re next to a road always run on the side where traffic is coming towards u, not passing you. Many cases people are on the side where traffic is passing you from behind, and end up getting hit because they couldn’t see what was coming. Just a little tip! Hope this is helpful😊
Most people don't say anything to someone following them or being creepy because they don't want to be wrong and look bad. always trust your gut. You can always apologize later if you were wrong because your still alive!!
There is no reason to say something. Just keep your distance and be aware. If the man wants to harm you, getting close and saying something isn't going to help you.
@@grega4231 I’ve done both, ignored them but made it clear that I see them following me and also engaged them because they were advancing too quickly for me to keep distance without breaking out into a run. Both work, trust your gut.
They can also be more forceful and tell the person to stop following them. That’s what I would do. No perpetrator is gonna f with someone who is getting in their face proactively.
It depends some people walk too fkn slow and you want to take a left or a right so you go slow and wait for them to get out of the way or you can be an a hole and tell them to move am going right or left
AND BTW EVEN A BUSY TRAIL WONT DETER A PERSON IN FULL PSYCHOSIS THEIR REALITY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CONSIDERATION OF RIGHT AND WRONG THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY REGARD FOR OTHERS ALL THEY FOCUS ON IS GOING AFTER THEIR TARGET OF FOCUS DOESNT MATTER WHO U R OR WHERE U R
yeah this is why violent behaviour and mental illness need to be addressed and the onus shouldn't just be on women to "stay safe", as if that's something they have that much control over.
Oh my yes! As a women I feel so scared to run by myself. I feel like I can’t dress the way I want or I will “provoke” someone to attack me. I always have to ask a guy to run with me because if I’m by myself I get scared around every guy because I feel so defenseless as a women and especially as a women in high school. I just wish I could just run without having to worry about wether I will get harmed by someone around me. I have had two instances where I have had to call my mom so the guy sees I’m talking to someone… just such as SHAME!
Get a license to carry a pistol. I've had a group of men following me turn around once they got close enough to see the gun on my hip. I don't even get checked out when my gun's on my hip, no honks or catcalls, just respectful nods and waves haha. But without it I can't even stand in my front yard without someone trying to abduct me (actually happened smh)
When i was in high school i ran on the city roads, and was CONSTANTLY harassed. I took to dressing a awfully as possible, wearing my brother's clothes, mismatched socks, etc. It didn't help. Now as an adult, with self defense courses, a live tracker, bear spray and a knife on me, I happily run trails solo regularly. Be strong, be smart, and stay alert.
I couldn't imagine spending my life having to be chaperoned everywhere I go - I love my own company 🥺. I'm sad that you feel this way or I'm devastated that something happened for you to feel like that way 😔.
If you ever feel weird about someone following you or just getting “vibes”, get out of that situation immediately. There’s no reason to take a chance. Also, share your location with at least one contact and tell them where you are going when you are on a trail run. Seriously girls, there’s no reason to take chances and we gotta stop making up excuses for us being uncomfortable (“they’re probably harmless”, “I’m just paranoid” etc.)
Thanks for making this, stay safe out there 💗 I've seen some scary stuff out on the trails, was hiking with my parents and a dude was in the bushes with a knife right near the trailhead, we turned around and called 911 in the parking lot but it was really weird vibes, I'm so glad we got there before something worse happened I ran that trail alone ALL the time
anyone can or can not be harmless. i just want everyone to know that. just because someone is wearing a suit does not mean they’re intelligent and a person who looks homeless does not mean they’re actually homeless. don’t judge but be aware.
Everyone knows that. Literally everyone. We also have common sense to be more afraid of someone who is visibly drugged out over some guy with a wife a kids. You have to use your common sense and assess threat levels accordingly. You literally have to (and do) judge the saftey of your situation by who is around you.
Girl it’s always better to be safe than sorry and I’m glad you were aware of your surroundings. We had a girl here in Phoenix attacked on a trail recently and she did not make it. It was so sad. Stay safe beautiful ladies💗
It is always a good idea to keep aware of your surroundings, woman or man. Only put one ear bud in to give you some sound acuity. And probably above all, trust your gut. If something seems off, change direction and get out of there. Better to feel silly later than to wait around and find out.
I'm glad you're ok - it's always better to be safe than sorry! I had a van pass me, do a quick U-turn and come barreling straight for me when I was out on a jog. he opened the driver side, jumped out and started to chase after me while I beat on a nearby door, screaming at the top of my lungs and had 911 on the phone. he ran off I didn't get a plate do the distance and hysteria. It was at 2 o'clock on a bright sunny day in the middle of a busy road in the middle of the afternoon. What saved me was situational awareness and me always being hyper vigilant of my surroundings. Bad stuff does happen!
Yes. Stay aware and safe. This is coming from a man in his 50’s with two adult daughters. I’m never offended when I see a woman being cautiously aware around me in parking lots, etc. I also respect their space. If a man doesn’t, that’s not a good sign.
This is why as a women I conceal carry when I run. It’s sad that it has to be that way. A women in Arizona was killed on trail she always went on by some random guy. Be so careful and aware of what’s going on around you.
Yes, on a trail I would open carry as a deterrent. In busier place it freaks some people out and it interrupts your run when they call the police and they stop you to find out why you have a gun (uhh, because of the 2nd Amendment, no other reason needed). CA may be a problem in many counties to get a concealed permit, but simply being a female runner in any dangerous area should be enough in my opinion. Heck just being an American over 18 should be enough unless you have a violent record or mental history.
i am concerned that they are on drugs and when i pas by them lying or sitting on bench where my walk goes along i feel nervous. So i stopped going that route.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! My wife and i preach like crazy to our kids and our granddaughter. Kids these days have their faces so focused on their phones they would be mugged, raped, and/or killed and not even realize it. It's so dangerous! Glad to see your safe.
Girl this is STRAIGHT FACTS and I wish I WISH more girls and women would understand how important it is to always be aware of your surroundings. I see girls in with both headphones or a full headset running, on their phone never looking up or behind. Us women have to take precautions and relearn the “it’s better to be safe than sorry” bc even if you were being skeptical you were doing it for a good reason and look you’re home safe because of it! Maybe if you didn’t notice something else could’ve happened but we gladly won’t know as you took your precautions!! Absolutely love you spreading this and making an example out of it.
@@jonjeskie5234 No true at all, world wide 78% of attacks occur against males. For muggings it's 80% for males. If we're talking about just sexual assualt then it's more likely that a woman is the victim, but the rate compared to the 1st two mentioned is lower.
@@jonjeskie5234 i'd say that any man who thinks that way is actually at a higher risk due to a false sense of security. It doesn't matter how big you are if someone has a weapon or gets you by surprise. Best defense is being aware of your surroundings like the lady in this video said, doesn't matter how strong someone is cause an attacker is never gonna give their victim a fair fight anyways.
I used to think I was safe in my last neighborhood. I lived in the suburbs, HOA community, upper middle class kind of neighbors. On my walk one day, a Tesla slowed down and parked on the side of the road where I was walking. I was alone, no one outside, my instinct said something wasn’t right, so I slowed down and started filming the car. They slowly took off. Maybe could have been something else but always follow your gut feeling!
Thank you! That’s what I say all the time. A ton of bad things wouldn’t happen if people would take a few seconds to just look around. Stop burying yourself in your phone. Be aware. Don’t be a victim
It literally doesn’t even matter if you’re on a busy trail/street some people have the AUDACITY and bystander effect is real. Always have your own back, keep your phone charged and ready, and be ready to run.
Absolutely listen to your gut. I walked out of a grocery store one time, caught eyes with a creepy guy near my car, so I immediately turned & went back into the store! 👍🏻
And? Instead of walking to your car in a grocery parking lot with cameras where you can slam the door locked and have an escape never even needing ti acknowledge the person. Id say most predators pray on the weak if you went with confidence like they are a nobody which they are they back off. Creeps are all cowards. If i see anyone sketchy around my car i damn well make sure they know hey back off my shit
I was driving home from my sisters late at night and saw this high school walking along a busy street. It was almost midnight so it kind of worried me. I stopped to see if she was okay, told her I had kids, and asked if she needed a ride. I’m sure it scared her but I had to check. She said she’s completely fine so I drove off but i agree it’s important to be aware of your surroundings when running. I look out for the runners or anyone walking whenever I drive. You just never know.
@@Paris, I was at a small airport once just watching the planes ✈️ fly in one evening when an old car pulled in and died. A girl my age got out, and my instincts told me she was legit in trouble, and I ended up driving her home to her apartment! When I later traveled to Europe alone, I had people help me out in similar ways. ❤
It’s always better be cautious. If you get a weird vibe you’re always better off trusting your gut. It sucks we have to worry about stuff like this when all we are doing is minding our own business.
My friend went cycling alone a few years ago and a truck pulled over and stopped in front of her, jumped out and pulled his pants down. He jumped back in his car and left luckily. Y’all def stay aware of your surroundings and please bring a buddy with you🙏🏼
I am always concerned for my daughter when she's out running. She now runs with bear spray in her hand and I've trained and coached her on situational awareness and trusting her gut instincts.
Tell her to stay in safe built up areas. Running in remote areas is crazy. There are some very dangerous people lurking in those places. Woman or Men are at risk. Bear spray won't save you.
@Easttowest This is athletic jogging wear. This clothing was designed for precisely this activity. Women want to be comfortable, able to move freely, feel supported, and enjoying cooling moisture-wicking while exercising. The fact that you’re blaming her for wearing jogging clothes and saying she should’ve been wearing something different is disgusting.
@easttowest7839 she would just as easily be a victim in a t-shirt. A predator isn’t going to care what she’s wearing or not wearing. There’s a difference between lust and abduction
#1 never wear 2 headphones. #2 Get comfortable with using a weapon #3 homeless does not mean harmless A way to deter someone from harming you is called a threat display: carry a knife, if you think someone is following you give yourself a reason to expose your knife so they know you are armed. Say you pretend your shoelace is untied, take out your knife and pretend you have a rock stuck in your sole and use the knife to pick it out. It shows the person you have a weapon, but you are not actively threatening them with it, just letting them know you arent a good target.
It’s better for a woman not to try to defend herself with a knife. Her attacker will just overpower her, take the knife away from her and stab her to death. You don’t want that. So, what women need, is to sound an alarm, preferably with one of those devices you carry on your keychain, to alert others in the area, have your pepper spray ready and spray the bastard in the face with it. Then run! That’s your best chance for survival, Carrie. And don’t try to fight with a man. I don’t care if you’re a UFC champion. I see scrawny men in the gym all the time, who can easily benchpress 250 pounds and can easily overpower a woman. Again, don’t be naïve about self defense. Learn how to do what they call a “chest check.” A police officer friend of mine showed me how to do one. If an attacker surprises you and you don’t have time to sound your alarm or get out your pepper spray, and he is trying to grab you, a properly performed chest check (target the solar plexus, as well) can knock the guy backwards several feet and give you a chance to put some distance between you and your attacker. And pretending to tie your shoelace, puts you in a less defensive position. Stay on your feet, so you can move quickly out of his way, or run. If he gets within five or ten feet of you in a threatening way, spray him with the pepper spray.
Sorry, that women have to face this sort of fear. I can't imagine having to be constantly on the lookout. As a male, I do my part in ensuring that I give women a wide area to run/walk and attempt to alert people from a safe distance that I am coming up behind them. Whole heartily agree that keep situational awareness, especially with cars who frankly rarely see you crossing the street or running on the street.
Thank you for your consideration and understanding. I have a lot of respect for men like you who understand the cause of our concerns instead of getting offended that we would even consider being careful. The world is a scary place.
Ma’am, with all due respect, your safety is of the upmost importance. I am so sorry this world isn’t as kind as we’d like but you may consider looking into pepper spray or other forms of protection. I hope you never need to defend yourself but in the event you do, I hope you’re prepared. 🙏💯💜🏃♀️
Ok… yes be aware of your surroundings but also be smart about how you present yourself. That $15,000 rock on her left hand and the $300 oakleys are making you a target as well. Not to mention the $1,200 IPhone used to shoot this video. I’m not hating on the excellent taste in outerwear I’m just letting you know that you should think about this. If your running add an AirTag or Tile to your shoes and have a loved one or friend connected. Be safe. It’s true. The world is filled with people who have bad intentions. BE TACTICALLY SAVVY! ❤
I went up a small mountain by myself often by school. I have asthma so hiking with people is a good way to bring down my self esteem and annoy people but at my own pace with some tunes (earbuds, of course): very cathartic. One night after years of doing this, I went up with no issue. There were other people on the trail and it's the same way up as down. Apparently I was the very last person to go up that night. It's roughly 20 minutes to the top, which I shared the view with a couple up there. I left the top about 20 minutes after they left catching my breath and looking at the city at night. On my way down, I was briskly taking the carved dirt and plank steps down the last part when something shiny caught my eye. It was weird that anything shiny would be here, especially in a pretty dark area. And I didn't notice it going up. Well instincts kicked in and I came to a dead stop in time to see the razor wire at my eye level about a foot in front of me. See I'm an excessively short person and for most people, that razor wire would have been at neck level. Someone rigged it sometime in the last 40 minutes to, my best guess, take my head off!? It was secured on both sides way off into the brush where I couldn't see. I immediately took my earbuds out, went under it, and ran to my car locking it. I've never hiked again, it's not safe.
I am a 80kg 180lb trained guy. I was walking home late after a party. I had to go on the sidewalk of a street that goes trough a tunnel. From behind a white SUV slowly drove past me and suddenly stopped. Remember it so clear. I was very aware about the Situation and knew whatever happens next I will run back and up the hill besides the tunnel so the car cant follow me. The car was put in reverse and rolled back right next to me. Still about 20feet distance. They opened the windows. 5 dudes where in the car and they asked me if they should give me a ride, all looking at me like they are about to jump out. I said "No thank you but i appreciate the offer" we stood there for a few seconds and looked at each other. Than they drove off. There was no space for a sixth person in the car. They just wanted me to come closer. If that can happen to a man than this shows you that as a woman you need to be very aware about your surrounding.
I'm walking home at 4am through Oslo sentrum. Regular day, after a session. Suddenly two guys roll up on me. First they holler, but I ignore them bcos I have the earbuds in. Then they roll up even closer, one side-by-side, and the other - the big guy - just behind. The thin dude puts his arm around me and asks me, "How's it going? What's happenin? Where you off to?" I turn my head slowly towards him, like Clint Eastwood in a Western movie. I look him in the eye. Then I go: "Not much. You?`" This makes him nervous, and the fat guy starts cursing real bad, and working himself up. I have to strain myself to keep calm. Every move is measured and slow. But then the thin dude goes, "So ehm... You look strong. Do you train martial arts?" So I lie, "Yes. What would you like to know?" Then he excuses himself. "Oh ok, that's cool man. Really cool. So look, you have a nice evening now." Then he turns to fatso and goes, "Come, bud, we've got stuff to do." And off they went.
Trust. Your. Gut. I've seen way too much true crime stuff to ever assume any situation is innocent. I hate feeling this way, but it's probably what's keeping me safe. Please be careful and aware, everyone 🙏
I can’t count the number of times I’ve been followed or harassed. It’s something that I think we all can relate to, but you have to be looking out for yourself no matter where you are and be aware of your surroundings. It sucks that we have to be hyper vigilant and the micro or macro traumas that we accrue through life because of these experiences. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I normally take walks at nigth because thats when i can walk my dog, he is 60 pounds tough so thats a big deterrent to almost all people. But people with dogs also have to be carefull! Someone with full on phycosis or a gun wont care.
Be Very Careful when wearing any type of headphones, earphones, earpieces earbuds etc. I suggested this in my Safety Awareness book, I wrote many years ago,to use only one earpiece at a time, and or simply just don’t use earphones or earbuds while jogging, I wrote about this, and including about joggers Safety, and many other Safety Awareness Tips. Even when driving be on alert! I was driving a few towns over to visit my mom, who is a retired police officer. About 10 miles out of her town I noticed this blue truck tailgating me. He did that all the way to town. I decided to take some side streets and some random turns. The truck followed me at every turn. I text my mom and told her what was happening. She said to come straight to her house and she’d handle it. Thankfully, the truck pulled off the road a few blocks from my mom’s, but I was pretty scared!
Amen to that, I tell my kids and all the women in my life the same and growing up in Miami Im on constant alert of my surroundings. Good for you and bringing this up, please stay safe!
For years I told my daughter to be very careful when she is out and about by herself and discussed how Walmart parking lots are the highest area for abductions and other crime for women. She is pretty careful but one time she let her guard down and went in the evening and she was attacked and could have been abducted except a brave man came and scared the other man away. God was definitely looking out for her. But now she is even more cautious because that can happen anywhere. I think you are wise to be cautious
Good advice to be aware of your surroundings. I feel like it should be said, Dont ignore intuition bc you feel guilty judging a stranger. Google "Homeless man murders jogger." Women are targeted and mur ders at random while running, hiking, walking, or just walking to the car. You can Google "homeless man murders _________" and use the words, "dog walker," "walker," "runner," "jogger," and "hiker". Stay safe! It's impossible to know if someone is harmless. That's an assumption about a stranger, too!
I was in 6th grade when a random man decided to follow me home. I didnt notice him at first because i was on the phone, turned around and saw him speed walking to me rope in hand. Ran like hell and my parents called the cops, and only then did i remember he was waiting at the bus stop the day before but didn’t pick up any kid. Always stay aware of your surroundings, it can save your life.

I always made sure my daughters had one ear open and both eyes when running.
Like the female officer said only takes a second.
Good for her n great for you..
Love that cop. Who knows she may have saved your life since you were more aware and able to hear from that day forward.
Thank God for her concern she just reached more people. Thanks for sharing maam
Situational awareness is 100% key for anyone. You can never be wrong listening to your gut. Because even if you are wrong you are still safe.
No kidding, the #usgovernment is okay with us becoming victims BEFORE they help. Someone should be preemptive.

After an hour he had a fully EMPTY cart. Caught him taking a pic of me I believe as well. I took a pic of
him & reported him the to store manager.

"You don't owe strangers the benefit of the doubt." is some pretty good advice... it's hard not to think you're just paranoid or judgmental but... safety is more important at the end of the day
This is so important to remember. There's a reason we were taught "stranger danger" as kids! It doesn't just stop being a thing once we grow up.

Yep that statement concerned me with that type of thought process. Most people are homeless because they are mentally unstable! Mentally unstable people in most cases are dangerous to others . 😮
No offense but she is a bit too naive. The world is a dangerous place especially your country. A beautiful country run by a corrupt ruling class.
I'd think the opposite, a homeless person would likely have nothing to lose should the worst happen
Yes but please don't assume someone's automatically harmless just because they appear homeless.
Just bcz someone is homeless doesn't make them harmless. She needs to know that
Yup, in fact homeless people tend to be extremely violent. To anyone, but especially to women. Many are mentally ill, on drugs, and have nothing to lose.
Found it almost amusing that because they're homeless that makes them supposedly harmless. Usually quite the opposite!
What does looking homeless look like? You can never tell a person with just a look.
@Maurice W she literally said "he looked homeless," so I'd say ask her. But also, while I agree you can't always tell so obviously, you know exactly what she means. Don't lie to us and yourself just to feel holier than thou.

anyone can or can not be harmless. i just want everyone to know that. just because someone is wearing a suit does not mean they’re intelligent and a person who looks homeless does not mean they’re actually homeless. don’t judge but be aware.
This! Imagine thinking someone is harmless because they “looked homeless”. ANYONE (99%) can do harm
Everyone knows that. Literally everyone. We also have common sense to be more afraid of someone who is visibly drugged out over some guy with a wife a kids. You have to use your common sense and assess threat levels accordingly. You literally have to (and do) judge the saftey of your situation by who is around you.
Never think anyone is harmless. Those people are their targets. Stay safe and be aware of your surroundings.
There is a big difference between paranoia and diligence. Always be aware of your surroundings, not afraid of them.

If you can open carrying will be a greater deterrent to anyone thinking of messing with you.
This is great advice not just for ladies but everyone.

@easttowest7839victim blaming?

@@alan30189 your right it is safer and wiser to carry something that brings loud noise for distraction so you can get away.
I’ve been carrying a knife for years
Thank you for speaking about this, it is so important !! So so glad your safe.
Better be paranoid than sorry! You are right. Be always aware of your environment.

This is terrifying. I'm glad you're safe.
scary reality. I'm glad you were ok. Thx for sharing ❤️🧡
They say there’s safety in numbers. Please ladies don’t walk alone. Same goes for you guys out there. Too many sickos lurking about. Stay safe.
Wow.. just wow 🙁
Hey, we had a third row available!

Tip. Do NOT wear ear buds and listen to music while out jogging or hiking, you can't be aware of your surroundings when you can't hear footsteps.
It’s also a crutch. I refuse to engage in conversation with anybody who requires music to be able to run, they are weak.

In Addition whenever I am walking, I have kept my distance from others, because I don’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable, I have actually crossed the street to avoid any potential uncomfortableness for a woman.
I am a Safety Advocate, Activist and I have been advising about these issues,
I have also been walking and observed a Woman just beginning to run or jog about a couple short blocks away, ahead of where I was walking, and then started looking back at me, and staring several times while minding my own business I even slowed down my walking pace to allow for extra space, while not bothering anyone.

Your mom sounds awesome. 😂
It’s a shame god doesn’t look out for everyone who ends up abducted.

Good for you and great message to share that we should always be aware of our surroundings. Headphones are dangerous in more ways than one.
Great advice….I always tell my kids and especially daughter, the exact same thing.
Seriously, a lot of women are oblivious to their surroundings, thank you for posting this
Always , always trust your insticts. Its better to overreact then not react.
Except when trimming your fingernails
Thank you for motivating people to take their safety seriously .
It’s a good saying “pray for the best while being prepared for the worst”
I was in 6th grade when a random man decided to follow me home. I didnt notice him at first because i was on the phone, turned around and saw him speed walking to me rope in hand. Ran like hell and my parents called the cops, and only then did i remember he was waiting at the bus stop the day before but didn’t pick up any kid. Always stay aware of your surroundings, it can save your life.
My God that’s so scary!
I’m so glad you turned around in time!
