    With that type of toggle or the button, I like you can make the loop that goes over it go through the front and come back up tie the ends and you can pull it to tighten it down. Works great on bags that need a bit of adjustment depending on how much is in them.

    Really cool idea! I'm currently building a bag and was looking at different ways to secure the flap. A toggle sounds much better for this project than a clasp, thanks!

    Hi Chuck,
    You mentioned that you did a class on closures. You should do that class for us on The Leather Element.

    Thanks for sharing, Chuck! Will you all be able to zoom in to details for future videos? I used my phone to watch and could barely see the details of the toggle, and mine is not a small phone. Many people watch videos on their phones now. Thanks for considering this suggestion

    I had just made a button out of the base of a deer antler for a large shoulder bag (think "possibles" bag, even though I hate that 1970s name). Now I see this, and I think I have to make another with this toggle!

      Hi Sandy,
      The only thing I can think of for a bracelet is to also use it as a closure. Attach it to the bracelet and then have the other end of the bracelet wrap around and loop over the toggle. Hope that helps!

    Hi! Suggestion for a Leather Element...tips for beautifying chrome tanned leather projects. Specifically, trying to skive and burnish edges since this hardly works compared to veg. There are lots of videos comparing the two but not near enough videos on working with chrome tanned.

    I know this is off the subject but I would like to see a video where the stitching is on the inside of the piece , such as with a purse or pouch. And what kind of leather is best for hidden stitching.

    • @WeaverLeatherSupply
      @WeaverLeatherSupply  5 років тому +1

      Hi Stuart,
      Are you referring to a bag where the seams are stitched with the leather inside out and then turning it so the seam is inside of the bag? If so we do have a tote bag video in the works. We would recommend chrome tanned leather or a lighter weight veg tan, once you get too heavy on the thickness of leather (heavier than 5/6 oz.) it gets really hard to turn the bag right side out once it's sewn. If you're thinking of something else just let us know!

    I have 2 suggestions for your videos, which I hope you don’t mind. First, can you help in overcoming the fear that I (and perhaps others) have at cutting a lovely hide for a new project for the first time - concerned that we get it wrong. Secondly, I would like to use different alternatives to handle making, than simply straps with buckles - I don’t see much on this subject. Thanks for your great video’s which I love watching as it gives me such inspiration.

      Unfortunately that fear never goes away, but, there are ways that will help and I’ll put that one the idea board. Very good idea! We do have a TLE on making a Trunk Handle though. It’s a very easy and professional…and comfortable handle, and, once you get the hang of it you can go a bunch of different ways with the technique.

    Chuck I’m having trouble with my black died belts bleeding off on people’s clothes. This is very embarrassing to make an item for someone in black only to have the black dye smear on them. Please make a video on how to stop this. Thanks Chuck S.

      Hi CS,
      Black dye is a tough one. My suggestion for you would be to go with the Pro Dye for dyeing and once dry clean the belts with a lightly (very lightly) oiled cotton rag and do the face, edges (heavily) and the flesh (heavily). Use something like Leather Balm but go easy on the face and edges (normal) and then heavy on the flesh side. Buff the edges and back with a rag and you will knock out about 99% chance of rub-off. It’s still dyed but it will help immensely.

    Hi I'm a new subscriber from Buckin Billy Ray Smith and I was wondering if I could get some information on the loggers pouch? I REALLY WOULD LOVE TO HAVE ONE! It looks like the best one I've ever seen and Buckin gives it ten 🌟's. So I look forward to hearing from you. I had hoped to get one at Buckinstock 2019 but I missed out 😥.

      Hi there! The belts are currently out of stock but they will be back in on Friday! We'll link them below - you can buy them directly from our website.

    I have a REALLY good idea. A lot of beginners have trouble understanding a lot of the “products” and the order they are used in...dye, cream, super shine, topcoats...it can be too much to take in

    • @WeaverLeatherSupply
      @WeaverLeatherSupply  5 років тому

      Good call! Yes, it can be overwhelming and that’s a great idea for a Leather Element! I’ll get that one on the board!
