The passionate workload for Donkey Kong Country was intense. The rendering machines they used for the models would become so hot that they had to direct all their office fans at them to keep the units from overheating. This meant no cool air for the development team during the hot summer of 93’.
And it really shows. even today the game still looks fantastic and even newer Donkey Kong games like Donkey Kong country returns and tropical freeze have replicated the art style while improving it as well as the gameplay.

This brings back memories from my childhood. When I was a kid, my grandpa and I would play this, Super Marioworld, and a few other games on their old SNES and N64. These were some of my best memories of my grandfather. I was young, so I kinda sucked at video games, which means it would amaze me even more when we (mostly he) would beat either game. It’s been years now since my grandpa passed away, he was my father figure, and I didn’t really know how to deal with his death (he died when I was still kinda young, lung cancer). These games helped me cope, and they still bring back memories and feelings from the past.

You can barely make it out because the sun is staring at you from being the two silhouettes. But you put your hand over your eyes to take a closer look. A sudden rush of hope surges. The silhouette of a giant gorilla and a small monkey by his side. The Gorilla seems to be holding an object in its hands. “Could it be” you ask yourself. The figures walk closer and you see them clearly now. Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong. Donkey Kong puts down the object he is holding. A radio of course. He clicks a button and this theme starts playing. All of a sudden a bunch of monkey reinforcements walk up behind the two heroes. He looks at you and you nod and turn your head to the enemy. Donkey Kong and diddy Kong help you take on the evil army as they scramble to fight back. Now the tables have turned and you will get back your bananas. “For Donkey Kong Country” you scream as you charge the enemy with the monkeys on your side. Then you wake up and it turns out you fell asleep listening to the games theme song. Silly you.

To answer your question in a more straightforward way than others have, no, this was not the earliest instance of this melody. It is the theme to the original Donkey Kong on NES, but rearranged and modernized (at the time) for Donkey Kong Country. It's part of the joke when you boot up the game, because the old man (Cranky Kong, suggested to be the original arcade Donkey Kong) is playing the song on a phonograph when the younger, hip kid (present day Donkey Kong) comes in with a boombox version instead.
This is simply inspired by the original arcade theme song. I personally feel it's different enough that this is the first time we heard this particular vastly different take on it. So your question is not very easy to answer, but I would personally say yes, this is the first time we heard this particular *nearly* original theme song.

Thank you for restoring this song. I ended up listening to DK Country OST this week because it's one of my last memories when I was a child of my late grandfather whom recently passed away this month, and I think I prefer these HD Restorations for... Nostalgic reasons.
Isn't it great how despite not being old enough to play the original trilogy back when it came out, I still managed to catch the GBA titles when I was still a wee child so all this is just as nostalgic. May not be the same childhood as some of the rest, but goddamn was it still a DKC one...
This was possibly the very first video game I have ever played. Being able to hear this after so many years brings shivers down by spine as well as a feeling of comfort and joy. Thank you, TerraBlue, for restoring a wonderful chapter of my childhood. And no doubt that there are others that share the same sentiment, and on behalf of all of those people, I hope you live a happy and fulfilling life.
The classic from the 90's Donkey Kong Country at it's prime. One of the good if not the best Donkey Kong Game of all time. It pushes the limits with visuals and awesome sound track.
When you realize that old sounding sort of 8-bit cubic music you often think is designed to be retro is not at all a design feature and really just exists solely for the reason that data storage was incapable of storing normal sounding melodies in their original forms, but now we look back at it like a design choice.
In the context of opening up a brand new Super Nintendo, and inserting this game to play for the very first time. You set it in to then see an antiquated record start playing a familiar 8-bit music soundscape, to then drop the hardest beat you've ever heard. Nostalgic reasons.
you are doing gods work
Sounds great!
I can feel the nostalgia flowing in my veins as I listen to this masterpiece.
Donkey Kong is 40 today! 😮
How, it came out in 1994 , only 30
My childhood, all packed in one theme song. Awesome!
Happy 40th Anniversary DK! 🎂🍌🎊
Uma das melhores da história. Ficou marcada.
I remember getting this game for Christmas, after the first level I handed the controller to my dad and watched him play the whole game in a week
one of the greatest video game songs of all time
and one of the greatest video games of all time (;
The dopamine this gives me can't be measured
I appreciate your work!
The classic from the 90's Donkey Kong Country at it's prime. One of the good if not the best Donkey Kong Game of all time. It pushes the limits with visuals and awesome sound track.
Nem me fala, manooo 😭😭😭😭 saudades eternas daqueles tempos
Don't deny it, you're here to feel good after listening to this masterpiece.
When you realize that old sounding sort of 8-bit cubic music you often think is designed to be retro is not at all a design feature and really just exists solely for the reason that data storage was incapable of storing normal sounding melodies in their original forms, but now we look back at it like a design choice.
Thanks David Wise for this masterpiece of soundtrack
This brings back so many memories
Yo a los 7 años: TEMAZOOO 💸🤑🤙
Yo a los 14 años: OBRA MAESTRA 🎩🧐🍷
Yo ahora con 21 años: EN EFECTO ESTO ES ARTE 🚬🗿
Si
20/10 y god 🚬
We need a remastered version of this for the switch!
😏
Happy early 30th anniversary donkey Kong country!
In the context of opening up a brand new Super Nintendo, and inserting this game to play for the very first time. You set it in to then see an antiquated record start playing a familiar 8-bit music soundscape, to then drop the hardest beat you've ever heard. It was experiencing a new level of music that was now capable on this amazing console. At least that's what I imagine would've happened for someone...
Just way too good. This is ear sex right here folks.
No you fuck
mistrios kid no he will fuck the song not himself
lmao yeah
*Licks banana with sexual intent
Y'all fucked in the head or whatever
i've never even played this game and this song makes me nostalgic
El verdadero himno de México:

I don't know why it's taken me this long in my life to come here to listen to this. Masterpiece.
One of my favourite series and it's thirty years old now
