I used to be addicted to caffeine it was taking over my life I couldn’t go through my day without several cups of coffee or I would getting headache and getting irritated but once I started to do cocaine I was able to cut cold turkey without any side effects
I never had a problem with fatigue until I became a caffeine addict. Once I got completely dependent on caffeine pills that's when I developed CFS, issues with digestion, severe insomnia, etcetcetc the list goes on. It's been 1 week since I quit and I couldn't be happier that I'm done with this drug for good. I'm finally getting my natural energy back and starting to feel like my old self again. If you're thinking about quitting caffeine you won't regret it.
@@philmehrart it's been a year and 8 months since I quit and I'm feeling the best I've felt in years. It took a while to get to this point though, 3-4 months just for the brain fog and a lot of the fatigue to go away, about 6-10 months to start feeling completely normal again. Over a year to fix the insomnia. But I'm the most happy about having no more chronic fatigue and brain fog 👌👌👌
@@mypsychology7519 no deficiencies. I got my checkup and I actually had elevated calcium levels and that was it. It's been about 2 years since I quit and last week I had a cup of black tea and I became really fatigued after a few hours. Caffeine just ain't good for me it for anyone else really. Putting your body under stress for hours upon hours isn't natural to the human body.
@JellO I'll assume you've read caffeine blues? If not, highly recommended. Although as you are clean, you may have no interest. Well done on your journey, I'm 5 weeks into mine, no caffeine whatsoever, be it food or drink
My grandma was giving me coffee in my sippy cup since I was 2 or 3, and I’ve been addicted to coffee longer than I’ve been able to read. I’m fairly certain it’s contributed to my adrenal fatigue, and I’m ready to quit. Grandmother was a horrible narcissist, so quitting coffee is also sort of becoming therapy in a way - breaking the chains of addiction that she put on me
How are you doing? I can totally relate to what you said here on everything. I hope it went well❤ mine started the same way and I’ve been drinking large all my life probably even had my parents drinking it while I was being processed in the womb. Tried to go cold turkey once already that did not work out well I had the most severe clinical depression and akathisia
I went cold turkey. Day 3-4 worst; no energy to the point i could not work. Bit migraine, too. After a few more days no symptoms, only benefits. #1 better sleep. #2 less frequent toilet visits.
COFFEE IS AMAZING, ONCE IN THE MORNING EVERY MORNING, HIGH IN ANTIOXIDANTS AND GREAT FOR VASCULAR SYSTEM AND BRAIN..............DON'T STOP, GET IT IN~!
JOXENOSO+ FRUIT AND VEGIES ARE GOOD TOO, COFFEE HAS BENEFITS AS WELL, LEARN ABOUT COFFEE , EDUCATE YOURSELF, IT'S FULL OF ANTIOXIDANTS....SOME FRUITS AND VEGIES ARE FULL OF PESTICIDES AND HERBICIDES
Honestly it’s all about balance. Anything in excess is bad for you. Doctors and nurses recommend no more then 2-3 cups a coffee per week. I use coffee as a stimulant if I haven’t gotten much sleep from going to powerlifting completions and need a kicker.
Lee lunk if you enjoy it and feel the benefits carry on, I have educated myself, coffee is full of pesticides and is acidic, I personally get addicted to it and it rips my stomach and intensine to pieces, I bleed when I drink coffee, but I keep trying to give up, I'll defeat it completely one day!
Dehydration...anxiety...that's why I quit caffeine. I only went back to it recently because I figured why not? What's a week's worth of caffeine going to change over the holidays? And eventually I started to get anxious, and it would last...all day. So I quit cold turkey and suffered from insomnia for 2-3 days. Wonderful.
Coffee makes me anxious around people and unable to focus on anything, making me an almost incompetent person. It also makes me a night owl. When I quit I started waking up earlier and was more focused and relaxed. The problem is that I keep going back due to poor self control but I'm working on that too.
Cold Turkey two days so far.🙂 I was drinking a large Starbucks for many months. It gives me anxiety and messes with blood pressure. I Quit before with much success. It is a psychoactive drug that billions of people are addicted to.
So many “self-improvement” channels are focused on fine-tuning every aspect of your life, #hustle, whatever. I appreciate that you’re so honest about the need to improve while also being real about how to go about it, and how to still live an enjoyable life. You don’t feel like a self-important guru, you just seem like a guy lol. Thanks for being both relatable and motivating
Drinking fruit juices that have some sugar + drinking water when I quit coffee months ago still got the worst headaches. Couldnt look straight while walking from so much pain and went to sleep in the afternoon (went to bed with so much pain it was unbelivable and ended up falling asleep. As soon as I woke up to pee got again huge huge pain that only went away when sleeping. It lasts 7-10 days and if you drink tea or chocolat or coffee you only add days to the pain. I tried the "I need water or sugar" tecnique so Im sure it is part of coffee detox.
Took me a good 2-3 months to start feeling normal again and had terrible depression during this time... but was well worth it! I’ve slipped up a couple times since but just end up feeling so drained and groggy it’s not worth it. This video is definitely best case scenario in terms of withdrawal time, but stick with it, withdrawals will eventually subside :)
Yeah even tapering slowly can still make you feel awful. To avoid withdrawals you would probably need to taper over several months or more. I have quit caffeine but gone back on it again. Sometimes I wonder if the caffeine can mask fatigue caused by other issues, such as lack of sleep or poor diet.
I've quit soda and caffeine completely before. I didn't have to take medication to sleep, I was awake but mellow during the day, less anxiety, less depression. More overall mental stability, more stable bodily cycles, and just a better overall quality of life. I want to do this again, in addition to fixing other unhealthy habits I've picked up over time; Mountain Dew burns after you've been off for months
I’ve tried both cold turkey and tapering off quitting methods. Going cold turkey was horrible. I experienced the worst migraine of my life the 5th day of quitting and had to turn off all the lights in my house lol second method was pain free. Coming from someone who drank 2-3 Red Bull’s a day for years, I went to 1 redbull for a week, half a redbull next week, and a sip the week after before cutting it out the second time. Been caffeine free for months now and I feel great.
I went 55 days without it until new years and couldn't believe how great, calm, and more confident I felt. Drank coffee from the 1st to the 3rd of January and by the third I was like... "Oh. THIS is why I gave it up." The self torture must end! A good cup of tea with a greasy fry or hangover is simply a must though. No point giving up caffiene militantly.
15 year pot a day coffee drinker here, going on my 6th day cold turkey, yesterday was the worst (migraine) but woke up this morning feeling great! Never going back.
@@hanskazan7403 saving money and I'm a lot less spastic... As common as coffee is one would never think it could affect your life as much as it does. Caffeine is as much of a drug as many people get locked up for, in my opinion. thanks for asking, and yourself?
@@StevefromCincinnati quitted myself too for close to a month now feel alot better, quitted all caffeine chocolate Thea etc sleep is better having more energy at night digestion is better feeling more hydrated only positives for me whiter teeth
I’m depressed and can’t function without coffee… it’s the only way I can get anything done, drinking so much coffee I have anxiety later and crash so bad I feel terrible after it wears off. I always feel terrible at the end of the day but if I don’t drink coffee I CANT DO ANYTHING AND I CAN BARELY STAY AWAKE. 😭😭😭😭😭 I’m trapped
I've detoxed a couple of times, about to do it again starting tomorrow. I definitely get the more consistent energy! I've found the best way for me is actually a rapid taper. That is, right now I drink 1 to 3 cups a day. My plan is to not have my morning coffee, and as soon as I start to feel withdrawl symptoms, usually a mild headache at first, I'll have half a cup of coffee or tea. That's it for tomorrow's caffeine. Repeat the next day then go cold turkey. You get some withdrawl symptoms but they are pretty mild when done this way. Within about 5 days to a week I'll be 100%
hey great video... loved how fast you got into the content with out wasting 20 min. of my life on random personal anecdotes. Also a very clearcut and useful presentation on the actual science behind what caffeine is doing, makes me want to quit even more so (no to find that bag of medicinal heroin to help me get started)
I have quit alcohol, smoking, weed, all the meds I have been taking, soda, and a few other things. My next goal is to quit all food, water and oxygen, followed shortly by quitting life itself.
It takes months to get through withdrawal symptoms. Symptoms increase after the first month of no caffeine. At around 4 months your are about 80% better
I’m going to taper off coffee I tried quitting cold turkey and got such a terrible headache I chickened out and went back to coffee but I won’t give up , I already quit smoking cigarettes and I’m determined not to be hooked on anything! Thanks for the info!
That's funny, I was just going to check on progress and someone already did recently. We must all be on the same wavelength. I'm going to try to stop coffee also. Been drinking it since I was a kid.
True- which can make it a great tool in the step-down method of getting off of caffeine entirely. Knowledge is the key, though. Many folks don't know that decaf coffee still has some caffeine.
@@ruelguitar2k oh yeah definitely. The caffeine plus all the other compounds thatll make you poop, plus general sensitivity (many similar foods to ibs triggers) and anxiety were all coinciding factors lol
I am addicted to the euphoria from taking caffeine after the withdrawal - which gets me back into the cycle unfortunately... I even like the withdrawals as every day without caffeine will make the euphoria better - kind of like longer nofap gives better orgasm. I am yet to find a way to use caffeine just occassionally or none at all.
I am actually an extreme night owl and my cycle shifts by hour of more every day so I often sleep during day. Cofee shifts this even more so I often use it to correct the cycle - but it does not last long and I am daysleeping again... Last months I don't even know I have any cycle - I just sleep randomly - each day at completely different hour :(
@Bacon & Eggs Indeed. Fortunately I found a milder substitution with herbal stimulants and adaptogens, such as Ginseng, Maca, Astragalus, Tribulus and Kratom (which is slightly addictive, but not as much as caffeine and the withdraval is bearable). Modafinil also works great for knowledge workers and late shift workers.
This was one of the most lucid and clear explanations of the effects of caffeine for folks as well as methodologies on describing effective transitions between coffee and no-coffee lifestyles. Thank you.
I was drinking 3 cups of coffee a day for a very long time, and I randomly started getting carpel tunnel symptoms, it got so bad it was had to even hold on to things or open stuff. I tried a b6 supplement and it got better but sill had issues I noticed it was worse after drinking coffee. Then I cut my coffee down to 1 cup a day and after about a week I had no more carpel tunnel symptoms and still no issues after about 6 months so far. not sure if it was the coffee itself or the caffeine maybe causing a b vitamin deficiency. it's just strange I have been drinking it all my life, I guess my body just had enough.
I quit on Friday, felt very tired but not too bad. On Saturday I felt extremely tired, had zero motivation, a headache, and also felt slightly depressive but that went away. Today I feel much better, although still a bit tied. I exercised this morning so that helped wake me up. I only drink a double-shot latte in the morning before getting to work (around 8:30), but even that was enough to create withdrawal. It's scary that a drug has become so widely accepted as normal...
Clean and sober from booze 30 months now, and my caffeine consumption definitely increase in that period, it is time to give that up too. I am tired of the energy swings as you mention. Although I know it will be tricky, I think it is safe to say that it won’t be anywhere near as hard as getting sober from alcohol, we shall see!
I really can't tell if I genuinely like the taste of coffee or if I only like the taste because of it's benefits, nonetheless that stuff tastes like chocolate to me and I only drink it dark. It'd be hard for me to quit and I only have like 1 cup a day but also have lots of tea which I'm sure adds significantly to my caffeine count. Great vid.
I kept have heart palpitations from drinking coffee. I switched to decafe . I would normally drink one large French press of coffee per day. Palpitations stopped being so intense but we’re still there. Had my DNA done and found out I was a slow metabolizer of coffee. I also found I had vitamin deficiencies from a mutation in my genes-MTHFR. Bought supplements, changed my diet, and they disappeared. I found a substitute for coffee, chicory root. I bought it off of Amazon from World Botanicals. I also found Teecino chicory coffee at my local Whole Foods. They cost more but you do not need to use much. Two scoops is fine in a French press. This has been a life health changer. No more palpitations. Also, there are foods that made me have this problem. So I watch myself. I believe by having good nutrition based on your DNA helps you achieve a healthier life. My doctor is amazed by my research, DNA, and problem solved. I took control of my health.
If anyone is still looking at this video for years later I'll say that fasting absolutely worked for me with no caffeine withdrawal. Mind you I was having roughly 100 to 150 mg of coffee in either 50 mg tablets or two to three cups of coffee a day. I did an Islamic style fast which consists of waking up very early in the morning, usually 4:00 a.m., eating before the sun rises and hydrating, and then not eating or drinking anything until sundown. I also do intermittent fasting regularly, and I'm able to not eat for 16 to 20 hours. During my fasting period, I had absolutely no symptoms, and no withdrawal, and remained that way in the days after until I felt like a taste of coffee before a workout and got hooked again lol.
I've gone cold turkey twice now. The third day of withdrawl was the worst, with awful headaches. After that, things started to improve, though I still felt mellow and down for weeks. I only managed about a month without coffee, and that first cup after the break felt absolutely amazing. I might try going with the decaf method next time.
Do you know what is the best thing about quitting caffeine? When you need a boost, it actually works. Usually I sleep 8 hours every night but this night I needed to finish some work and slept only 5h. Woke up kinda down. Drank some coffee (not a lot) and I am feeling great.
I love the taste of coffee and the rush from it but I decided I'm going to quit. I only drink one cup in the morning but I always feel the crash a few hours later. I have quit before and I remember how my energy level would stay more constant throughout the day when I wasn't drinking coffee.
One week caffeine free and I really can't believe that for my whole life I have thought that I couldn't function without coffee. The first 2-3 days were rough but, man, I feel so much better off of it! We should be talking more about addiction to this poison
I've almost entirely quit caffeine over the past year, though I still eat chocolate and drink soda on occasion. I've found that I can now go to sleep more easily and at an earlier time. Paradoxically, quitting caffeine made it easier for me to wake up and feel refreshed.
I drink a ridiculous amount of coffee myself.. . But I’ve also heard decaffeinated beverages are way worse for you based on the processing they go through. They are more expensive than the regular. I would like to try this, but I am in love with coffee I did quit for 5 or 6 months when I was pregnant with my son. But that was so long ago and the side effects of quitting never crossed my mind just wanted him to be okay! It was a high risk pregnancy.. and he’s definitely good! He’s also 6 now😊Anyway
What about all the health benefits? Such as reduced risk of heart disease, reduced risk of type 2 diabetes, protection against Parkinson's and Alzheimer’s, lowered risk of Alzheimer's disease and more. Granted, if you're getting your caffeine from energy drinks, the sugar is probably causing more problems than the caffeine is helping. Drinking more coffee has even been shown to lower your risk for dying (mortality), from Association of Coffee Consumption With Mortality Among Nonwhite Populations. I don't think your arguments for quitting caffiene were very compelling compared to the vast amount of health benefits as evidenced by many studies.
I believe it depends on genetics, if you metabolise coffee slowly the drug has stronger and longer lasting effects. These people suffer more negative effects from drinking coffee including cardiovascular risks. Fast metabolisers on the other hand appear to gain positive benefits from drinking coffee. These are the people who can have a coffee before bed and sleep soundly. Me personally I’m a slow metaboliser of coffee and can attest to the negative side effects of coffee even though I like it I’ve had to give it up.

I quit caffeine 6 years ago. Replaced it with 4-5 liters of water a day and I’ll never go back. Combined that with only eating once every 24 hours and my energy levels are maxed every day, no crashes, no Headaches. My wife quit caffeine 7 days ago cold turkey and she looks 5 years younger.
Art Basement Recommended by whom? 4 to 5 is optimal in my experience. Water is essential for mental focus and clarity , for mood as well as for the digestion of foods. The idea that 2 litres a day is enough is nonsense.
BluCllr So u internitten fast and stay hydrated, well i eat once a day. Counting macros, protein carb and fat. And i also drink caffeine. Because as long as you sleep enough, train, eat well and stay hydrated you can drink caffeine. Is is good at dieting etc
I wonder if coffee sales will go down some day, like it could be a trend that corrects once people learn that it's not desirable in spite of the initial effects
3:29 thought this info may be helpful….i was listening to the audiobook Why We Sleep? And it states that Decaf Coffee still has about 25% of caffeine as a regular caffeinated coffee so be mindful of that when wanting to switch to only decaf coffee, you’re still consuming caffeine. Also that’s a good informative book and has a chapter about how caffeine and its affects on adolescents and adults. Good video 😊
I am now about 36 hours without caffeine. My goal is do go 30 days and see how it feels. I have a little headache and I noticed that I am more irritable. I think it varies to person to person, whether you should quit or not. This is something you know. I know, that I have to.
I’m 4 days off. I consumed 300-800 mg of caffeine each and every day. I quit cold turkey and it has sucked. I Have had a headache the entire time and a lot of stiffness, aches, and irritability. Not sure why I quit. I don’t know if it’s to stop caffeine all together or just to reset my tolerance. I guess I’ll wait and see how I feel in 5 days
Of all the withdrawal symptoms you listed, the most severe one was left out completely, intense migrane-like headaches. Nevertheless, a short and concise breakdown of quitting coffee, good video.
Strangely enough, since I was a kid I was insanely hooked on Pepsi and mountain dew which is high in caffeine when you drink 15 drinks, which is insanely high in caffeine I was always tired and sad , til I reached high school senior I got interduced by coffee, which you guessed it, pure caffeine source, all my college years I was anxious, impatient, depressed due to irregular sleep, huge consumption of coffee, even at the gym my heart would skyrocket even its just a warm up. Now after all those years of being sad and bloated from caffeine, I feel better, no heart palpitations while sitting idle, happy with myself, and weird enough the pump in the gym is INSANE for some reason even though I don't take any pump supplements yet it feels like it (its like when you started working out for the first time) so I highly recommend anyone reading this and still consume caffeine Give it a shot. But there's things you need to accept 1-when you feel tired without coffee, you are not tired that's the normal feeling buut you are used of high stress feeling so you think you have no energy 2-once you acknowledge the first point it will be much easier cutting caffeine beverages, supps. Because now I know it put you in stress, doesn't make you feel energetic 3-enjoy your life 🙂
I have been drinking coffee for about 4-5 years, 1 or 2 cups a day and I have experienced on myself that coffeine is really bad for the body. For example couple of weeks ago I wasn't drinking normal coffee for 2 or 3 days, only 3in1 and after that it felt so horrible when I drank a little coffee again. My heart rate was high and I felt like fainting and my whole body was shaking. Before this I often felt a strange shaking in my heart as if it was arithmetically beating but I didn't really care about it. As a cons I decided to stop drinking coffee immediately. I know that it also has some good features but the bad ones are really serius. Maybe, it might play a little role in causing a lot of people heart problems and fatal heart diseases.
I'm a three cups per day person...and that third cup at around 5 will sometimes knock me out. After drinking it for so long, it's having the opposite effect. Actually, I don't really feel any energy boost from drinking coffee. I just like the ritual of it. But I definitely wouldn't mind getting back that daily 100 calories from the cream.
You forgot to mention the massive headache. I only drink 1 or 2 12oz cans of diet coke a day and if I don't have at least 1, I get a massive headache with mood swings and shaky hands. It takes me 2 weeks to withdraw from that small amount. I've quit a few times and lost loads of weight. I'm planning on doing a fast from it again soon. But the way I see it, I don't smoke or drink or any other drugs, so such a little amount isn't that harmful compared to others I know. I know people who go through 24pks in 3 days or less. I would hate to be them trying to withdraw.
I'm going to taper off instead. I consume a Bang or Reign, a power shot or 2, and a few cups of coffee every day for the past 10 years, which is above the "overdose" level. I want to feel alive again, so thank you for this man! Good luck to everyone on their journey for a better healthier life! Please reply so I can update.
i got a high Caffeine Fullblown panic attack right now. sweating, nausea, high heart rate, heart palpitations, headache, drousyness, cant sit still, shimmerings.. i think i'm gonna cut back on caffeine for a while but i tried caffeine free life three times already and failed three times so i dont give up coffee, just going to try and drink just one cup or maybe two if i'm feeling confident in it again but for now one cup is enough. i had coffee for a whole day and this evening i got panic attack and i got them a lot when i drink too much coffee so its best for me to cut back and only drink at mornings and troughout midday i going to say no. also, i have no sleep and REM sleep because of caffeine. its sad i cant realy quit it because its too hard but its not that bad if i just drink on cup every day for the rest of the week and see if i have less panic and anxiety attacks. by the way, i take medicine for panic attacks and had to take one extra and once thats setting in i going to feel less anxious but now i'm hardwired. for all you coffee addicts or coffee lovers, take from my mistakes and never drink coffee in high dosis. also, i once drank redbull and had trouble for sleeping for like three days. and i had constant heart palpitations. just from only one redbull. i guess i'm very caffeine intolerant, or because i had caffeine already in the day. i was over my limit today and i knew that i fucked up when drinking my last cup of the day. i knew i was going to get fucked. my plan is not to quit but cut back to only drinking coffee in the mornings and trying to not make it too strong.
The only coffee I injest is through the other end. Coffee enema. Before you laugh, I'm a cancer survivor and since 2006, I've coffee enema every other day and I maintained my weight (while I eat basically pescatarian diet) and my skin is always clear. I'm in my forties but strangers or new colleagues think I'm ten years younger...
Better Ideas The enema is just to activate the liver to cleanse my toxins. Our bodies accumulate a lot of toxins from the way we eat, our lifestyle etc and even though our liver is an excellent detoxing machine, they tend to be overworked when we continue to ignore them doing the things behind the scenes. I haven't researched whether taking caffeine supplement has the same effect though so I shall read up a bit more. Thanks for the query. Btw, I'm a new subscriber. Keep up the good work.
Hey guys, here is a tip that helps me with coffee: mint tea. It's spicy, bitter, strong taste, hot of course and... absolutely caffeine free, naturally. It probably won't "wake you up" like a cup of coffee but it does provide that fresh breath after a sip, which does help, alongside with the coffee attributes I mentioned. Also don't add sugar to it, enjoy its naturtal gentele sweetness.
Even though this is the first video of yours I’ve seen, I subbed because of your editing style. Between the Vsauce music in the opening, the “science” emoji over your face, and “cold TURKEY or TAPEring off”, you had me,
I find the easiest way to quit drinking coffee is switching it to black tea for a week and then another week to green tea that has even less caffeine. At least for me, tea keeps the withdrawal symptoms away but has not enough caffeine to get me addicted.
Yes! I was thinking of trying something like this. Somehow I've never found tea addictive, there's just something about coffee. As long as tea can stave off the headache and most other side affects, I'm good. Might throw in a decaf if I'm really craving that coffee taste. I'm gonna try this, thank you 😊
You didn't really go that much into the why... What you seem to forget here is that there are actually more upsides than downsides to drinking coffee... if you do it right. A healthy use of coffee would be (according to my understanding) a maximum of about 2-3 cups per day, don't drink coffee on an empty stomach (so breakfast first), and only drink coffee before like 2 PM or so. Some sources say 4 PM, i'm not sure. These days I go by 2 PM. Also, since it does dehydrate, make sure to drink a enough hydrating beverages like water too. And lastly, try to spread the drinking out over time because gulping down two or more cups in like 30 minutes leaves you with a bigger-than-necessary dip in energy. What I do myself to automatically circumvent that issue is pouring extra water per cup so it naturally takes longer to drink the same amount of coffee particles as otherwise. This only works if you don't mind a bit less strong flavour though. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
I have an addictive body. Coffee was stimulating my PTSD so much I'm going to stop. When I stopped cold turkey, I got unusual muscle aches I hadn't had before. Also, constipation, which I don't normally get. I also slept way too much. I hope to taper with green tea until no caffinated beverages. Good luck to all who want to quit.
Used to take 3 per day. 5 days no cafeine, headache, low energy, sleepy all day. Day six, I wake up so good, its like i have a quality sleep that i didnt have in a long time. Self awareness improved, energy more stable throughout day.
Could not lose weight for 20 years no matter what I did. Was a heavy coffee drinker. Quit coffee, and easily started to lose weight - 18 pounds. Got cocky, started coffee again. Can’t lose the last 15 pounds. Not budging at all. Will go cold turkey again tomorrow. Here comes the 3 days of headaches!
Pretty interesting that UA-cam suggested me this video even if I would never quit drinking coffee. For me it is a sensory experience and I enjoy the different flavours of coffees from different regions (yes, it’s almost like wine if you don’t drink Starbucks ) Although I know that a lot of people experience high levels of stress during drinking caffeinated drinks and I want to hear about their experiences and try to find a tasty alternative solution. Although sadly most decaf coffee doesn’t taste so good. I am still searching .
Oh my gosh i just watched this! :) not done watching but i got excited to share! :) i used to also drink 3 cups of coffee in a day plus milk tea, (i’m a 20somthing year old girl who is 4”8 in height and 33kg) i was addicted. It came to a point when i would feel my heart beat really fast for a few seconds and i couldn’t breathe. And when i’m on the computer in my room, i always thought someone was staring at me from behind even if i’m alone...it was scary haha! I did a cleanse, too! But i did it slowly :) until i didn’t get headaches for a whole day. Then completely stopped. Now i drink once or twice a week only :)
Great video! You’ve convinced me to give up my daily coffee! I knew I was “addicted” when after thinking this morning for five minutes straight in my brain should I or shouldn’t I have the coffee haha it was like a debate in my head. I wasn’t even tired and I still ended up making a cup of coffee! 🥴🥴 then I realised ok, you’re addicted!! Thankfully I only drink 1-2 cups a day so it shouldn’t be too hard for me to give it up! Thanks for the great video! 👍
Worth mentioning, another big benefit is the temporary energy supplied during workouts. There is not really a crash afterwards because of everything else gained by the exercise.
Great idea. I'm trying to cut back on coffee so I can get pregnant. Maybe cocaine will help me be a bit more reckless, and raise my chances of getting knocked up!
I drank coffee practically every for years. Dealt with headaches every few days for years. I decided to switch to decaf, stopped drinking those C4 energy drinks that have 200 mg of caffeine. The only ones I drink are the Starbucks double shot energy drinks which only have 75 mg of caffeine. Haven’t had a headache yet. Pretty much the biggest reason why I cut back.
This video was pretty informative but there was one thing that you didn't really touch on that actually plays a large part in my life: stimulants such as caffeine and their effect on the ADHD brain. I was diagnosed in 7th grade and am a senior in high school now. I tried many different prescription medications for my ADHD but almost every single stimulant I tried was far too strong with insane come downs daily. That is, until my sophomore year when my doctor recommended to try drinking coffee. I have since drank coffee almost every single day during the school year and for the most part, I don't drink it during summer. For me, coffee is the best balance of stimulation to keep me focused without turning me into a complete zombie. The effects aren't exactly a mirror opposite, but it's the best way I can explain it to someone who has never felt it. Caffeine in the morning brings down my overall energy to a level that allows me to at least function in a classroom environment, which is already hard enough to everyone. Maybe the drugs that I tried were just not right for me and there is some other miracle drug out there for me, but I'm apprehensive about returning after so long of drinking coffee. As for the withdrawal symptoms, the worst I've noticed was some headaches during the day and i always quit cold turkey.
Wow I really lost track of how long that was getting. Anyways, I drink about 2~3 shots of espresso in my latte in the mornings, but pretty often when it’s not a super stressful day, I can just have a cup of black coffee to perk me up.
Art Basement yes ADHD is often over diagnosed, but to say that it's all bullshit is just ignorant. The reality is that people with real ADHD have measurably different brain chemistry. This is why stimulants work to focus in people with ADHD. I can send you some resources of you'd like, but judging by your tone, I don't think that you really care, and you're just blowing off steam. Hope your day gets better fam
Art Basement I don't think you even read my comment becuase if you did you would know that I don't like pills fam. I'm done arguing but I do recommend you look up some double blind ADHD studies. The human brain is insanely complex. Bye friend.
My friends, I have quit every drug under the sun (and I don’t mean, I was a weekend warrior and decided I should stop. I mean, I have detoxed (almost dying in the case of alcohol) off of everything except amphetamine). I was good and clean off of all of it, no nicotine, no nothin’ and started hitting the gym hard, which brought with it, preworkout and increasing my caffeine intake. (I am aware that plenty of people don’t need preworkout and do just fine, but I am figuratively made out of excuses to put things in my body). You’d think I would know better, but I really had no idea that caffeine was as psychoactive as it is, when there’s nothing else in my system. I mean, they allow it in rehab, so what’s the issue? Well, now I have no addictions, *EXCEPT* about 600mgs of caffeine a day, spaced out in energy drinks and a few days ago, as an experiment, I didn’t have one in the morning and was straight up sad and lethargic until I decided to have one around noon. Absolutely wild lol. I’m not even upset, it’s just funny to see a vague outline of the relationship I used to have with heavier stuff, showing up in something I truly believed to be innocuous and relatively harmless. If you stuck around through that mess of text, I’m wishing you all the best and believe that once you get down to a reasonable dose, caffeine is safe to have in tea and coffee at appropriate times of the day. All the best. God bless you.
I used to drink so much coffee I'm surprised I'm alive. One week I came down with the flu and led to go cold turkey on coffee so I quit for 3 months and experienced little to no withdrawal.
Those headaches and sleepiness will go away. Try water fasting it will stop the cravings. It works for me, i no longer crave for coffee, i still drink once a week because of my friends but i am no longer dependent on it. Our body can adjust. And please do not take any medicines, just eat healthy foods. If you rely on medicines it means your body is not healthy.
If you already suffer from anxiety, i would advice to first do this (quitting coffee) or try nofap. I don't think doing them all at the same time is bearable for most tho.
I've also quit caffeine quite a few times, and have gone cold turkey which was horrible. Now I have a way of getting off within days without going through all the withdrawal - it least it works for me. Buy a bottle of soda, I use coke, that has a lot of caffiene in it and take everywhere with you, then stop drinking anything with caffiene in it. After about 24 hours when you start to get symptoms, take a mouthful of the soda and wait 10 minutes or so. If the symptoms persist take another mouthful, I've never had to go to three and find the symptoms stop. Wait till you get symptoms again and repeat the processs. I find the symptoms stop after 2 to 3 rounds of this. You have to bare in mind also that if you quit caffiene you will probably also be hugely reducing the amount of suger you are consuming which has similar withdrawal symptoms, using the bottle of soda also helps with this.
when you brought up stress, it made me think that this is the reason why I chew the sides of my fingers so much. I've been very unhealthy with my caffeine intake to the point where I would have around 600-800 mg's a day, I would achieve this amount because of the pre-workout and nootropics I take during school and my workouts. I do notice though that when I take these supplements, I tend to be more stressed out and start chewing on my fingers as an act to calm me down or something. I think I'm going to try bringing my caffeine level down by a lot cause honestly, it sucks when I try to put my shoes on and my fingers hurt and bleed cause the shoe is really tight to get my foot in and just other things in general about it too. lol
I relate a lot, I chew my fingers a LOT more when I'm on coffee. Every time I quit, I feel calmer and stop chewing (for the most part). Well, I'll still chew them, but it's less of an all-encompassing compulsion.
First week w/o it. Lifetime user and I’m 50 now. Did at least 600 mg a day. Went cold turkey 🦃 First day was extremely sluggish Second day had serious runs 🚽 Day three got a massive headache 🤕 After that was good to go...feel way more hydrated, sleep better. Think I actually already have more energy too
IDK Im addicted to caffeine for sure but I limited myself to 2 mugs a day only in the morning (and no more caffeine things around the day) and I’m good. No problems at all. Now, do I want to drink 30 mugs a day? 100%. I’m addicted AF, I love the little boost of energy and high I have on the first 10 minutes of drinking it, but I hate the other 6 hours of pure anxiety and stress so 2 mugs a day only in the morning max is my advice. If you drinking to much is very hard to limit yourself to 2 a day but if you do it you won’t have headaches or any other side effect cause 2 mugs is still a lot of caffeine.
I made the decision to quit weed AND caffeine about a month ago. Weed went surprisingly easy. Caffeine, on the other hand, I am still struggling with. Needless to say, that should tell you how addictive it is.
Your video turned out great! Had a blast working with you :)

Hey Jell how are you doing now?
@@philmehrart it's been a year and 8 months since I quit and I'm feeling the best I've felt in years. It took a while to get to this point though, 3-4 months just for the brain fog and a lot of the fatigue to go away, about 6-10 months to start feeling completely normal again. Over a year to fix the insomnia. But I'm the most happy about having no more chronic fatigue and brain fog 👌👌👌
I think you had vitamin b1 deficiency?
Grandmother was a horrible narcissist, so quitting coffee is also sort of becoming therapy in a way - breaking the chains of addiction that she put on me
Damn 🥺 You got this! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I’m rooting for you!
I'm very sorry to hear that. anyone who hadn't gone through puberty should never be given caffeinated drinks

Coffee makes mess of your adrenal glands, and puts body into a constant stress mode.

Have you tried decaf? That’s what I’m thinking about doing. Even though it doesn’t give you the high I imagine it still tastes the same

You forgot the "worst headaches that literally don't go away with Advil"
Nope I get them too
Drinking fruit juices that have some sugar + drinking water when I quit coffee months ago still got the worst headaches.
I tried the "I need water or sugar" tecnique so Im sure it is part of coffee detox.
ive been drinking 1-3 monster energy drinks each days and the withdrawal headaches kill me
You people ....🦖
I had a wicked headache when i stopped
Took me a good 2-3 months to start feeling normal again and had terrible depression during this time... but was well worth it! I’ve slipped up a couple times since but just end up feeling so drained and groggy it’s not worth it.
This video is definitely best case scenario in terms of withdrawal time, but stick with it, withdrawals will eventually subside :)
Hey Chris did you stick with it? I'm coming off coffee now, thankfully no brutal headaches so far but the mood swings/depression sucks
Yeah the depression is real. Comes and goes. Im one month in and Im feeling extremely tired and groggy all the time…
I've quit soda and caffeine completely before.
Switching to green tea works well for me. It has much less caffeine than coffee and contains L-theanine, which can have a calming, focusing effect.
I’m gonna get some today now. Thank you for the advice.
No
Yeah I'm doing a similar thing with coconut water with caffiene and now I just drink a 2 liter of it at a time

Interesting perspective.
Does coffee affect your sleep cycle?

Thats crazy!
I had those same problems with my hands! I didn't even realize I haven't had those pains since I quit caffeine. Wow!
Caffeine is neutral in taste...

It's all about the dose man

I’m 4 days off. I consumed 300-800 mg of caffeine each and every day. I quit cold turkey and it has sucked. I Have had a headache the entire time and a lot of stiffness, aches, and irritability. Not sure why I quit. I don’t know if it’s to stop caffeine all together or just to reset my tolerance. I guess I’ll wait and see how I feel in 5 days
Of all the withdrawal symptoms you listed, the most severe one was left out completely, intense migrane-like headaches. Nevertheless, a short and concise breakdown of quitting coffee, good video.
That’s what I’m afraid of. A migraine has been my body’s way of telling me when something is wrong for over a decade. 😫 Stress, dehydration, etc etc.
Now after all those years of being sad and bloated from caffeine, I feel better, no heart palpitations while sitting idle, happy with myself, and weird enough the pump in the gym is INSANE for some reason even though I don't take any pump supplements yet it feels like it (its like when you started working out for the first time) so I highly recommend anyone reading this and still consume caffeine
Give it a shot. But there's things you need to accept
1-when you feel tired without coffee, you are not tired that's the normal feeling buut you are used of high stress feeling so you think you have no energy
2-once you acknowledge the first point it will be much easier cutting caffeine beverages, supps. Because now I know it put you in stress, doesn't make you feel energetic
3-enjoy your life 🙂
The same way for me . Thaink you god .hamdoulilah
That s exactly whats happend for me
I'm a three cups per day person...and that third cup at around 5 will sometimes knock me out.
5 cups, that would put me in cardiac arrest
@markus Do you have the research on this?
im eating energy powder from a tube. about 800-1000mg a day, for god knows how long. No cardiac arrest yet
i got a high Caffeine Fullblown panic attack right now. sweating, nausea, high heart rate, heart palpitations, headache, drousyness, cant sit still, shimmerings.. i think i'm gonna cut back on caffeine for a while but i tried caffeine free life three times already and failed three times so i dont give up coffee, just going to try and drink just one cup or maybe two if i'm feeling confident in it again but for now one cup is enough. i had coffee for a whole day and this evening i got panic attack and i got them a lot when i drink too much coffee so its best for me to cut back and only drink at mornings and troughout midday i going to say no. also, i have no sleep and REM sleep because of caffeine. its sad i cant realy quit it because its too hard but its not that bad if i just drink on cup every day for the rest of the week and see if i have less panic and anxiety attacks.
by the way, i take medicine for panic attacks and had to take one extra and once thats setting in i going to feel less anxious but now i'm hardwired. for all you coffee addicts or coffee lovers, take from my mistakes and never drink coffee in high dosis.
also, i once drank redbull and had trouble for sleeping for like three days. and i had constant heart palpitations. just from only one redbull. i guess i'm very caffeine intolerant, or because i had caffeine already in the day.
i was over my limit today and i knew that i fucked up when drinking my last cup of the day. i knew i was going to get fucked.
my plan is not to quit but cut back to only drinking coffee in the mornings and trying to not make it too strong.
Why a coffee enema vs. pure caffeine supplements?
Better Ideas The enema is just to activate the liver to cleanse my toxins. Our bodies accumulate a lot of toxins from the way we eat, our lifestyle etc and even though our liver is an excellent detoxing machine, they tend to be overworked when we continue to ignore them doing the things behind the scenes. I haven't researched whether taking caffeine supplement has the same effect though so I shall read up a bit more. Thanks for the query. Btw, I'm a new subscriber. Keep up the good work.
@@scdobserver835 How do you do coffee enema
Just saying I’d rather just live a bit shorter life than stick coffee up my ass
Wow that’s fascinating, you know I bet you still get a caffeine buzz from it though. Because those kids who put liquor up their butts get drunk 😵
Loved this video 👍😍 Clear - straight forward solutions - useful
Hey guys, here is a tip that helps me with coffee: mint tea.
It's spicy, bitter, strong taste, hot of course and... absolutely caffeine free, naturally. It probably won't "wake you up" like a cup of coffee but it does provide that fresh breath after a sip, which does help, alongside with the coffee attributes I mentioned.
Also don't add sugar to it, enjoy its naturtal gentele sweetness.
Even though this is the first video of yours I’ve seen, I subbed because of your editing style. Between the Vsauce music in the opening, the “science” emoji over your face, and “cold TURKEY or TAPEring off”, you had me,
Patrick, I love you.
I'm clean for almost 6 days right now. Hopefully it works this time 💪🏻👊🏻 definitely want to endure my cure 😉
Very interesting !! Thanks for making this video and doing the research, keep it up!
Shave your toes!
Never seen higher quality videos come from a Powell Riverite. Keep up the great work !
hahaha, you've discovered my origins...
I am still searching .
i would never quit cocaine i just like how happy iam on it and i just like how it smells
Thats horrible. Effects of caféine
How to quit caffeine?...use cocaine

Never made caffeine a regular part of my day and I'm still exhausted throughout the day
I used to drink so much coffee I'm surprised I'm alive. One week I came down with the flu and led to go cold turkey on coffee so I quit for 3 months and experienced little to no withdrawal.
When I don't drink coffee : Headaches and sleepiness
When I drink coffee : extreme anxiety and stress.
God I need to quit.
Larks' Tongues In Aspic OMG me too! It’s ridiculous
Have some aspirin handy. It won't make the sleepiness go away, but it will deal with the headaches.
You should probably drink your coffee with L-thenanine
Your edits are amazing 🤣🤣💯

I’m 15 and i have been addicted for 4 years
I made the decision to quit weed AND caffeine about a month ago.
Weed went surprisingly easy. Caffeine, on the other hand, I am still struggling with.
Needless to say, that should tell you how addictive it is.
Caffeine is a drug!!
