- In this episode, I finally manage to leave Tata. There has been a strong cold and rain front that went over Morocco, causing heavy rainfall and snowfall. The usually dry riverbeds, the wadis, turned into raging brown rivers, resulting in the closure of roads. On top of that, strong winds cause more sand to be picked up in the air, and reducing the visibility. Somehow, I decide to ride 640 kilometers though!

A brief history about Western Sahara: It's a Moroccan territory that was colonised by the Spanish, but they gave it back to Morocco in 1975, unlike the French that did not give back the land below the Western Sahara to Morocco, and instead created a new state in 1960 called Mauritania!! Yes, Morocco had borders with Senegal, and was divided into pieces that we are still trying to get back now! I hope you find this informative. Have a safe trip.
That's exactly what I learned from reading about the Kingdom of Morocco's history. Colonialism and imperialism destroyed not only African countries but created intentionally tensions and conflicts among their people. Thus, there is no such thing as "Western Sahara ", it's just a distraction created by colonialism to serve its interest and keep Morocco and Algeria in conflict.

This is the thing with Noraly's videos: she doesn't have to have a lot of "exciting" things happening to be a good video. Just her, the bike, and her personality make for a good video. Anything else is extra.

Well I am enjoying the scenery of the exotic places she bikes thru, something that would be an impossibility, for a ordinary person with no money..that about exciting, it would just happen randomly..yes her personality helps a lot..

Honestly speaking these people are truly nice and always ready to help, from the Petrol Station Attendants, to the Police Officers they are indeed most kind and reassuring. It always does not have to be off road. Seeing the towns , gas stations, people, and the check points, how they live is fascinating. Love seeing how life is there is so cool.
Ya probably a little less risky too, she is taking some big gambles out there all alone, interesting, but a little over the top sometimes don't you think with this going down unknown trails not properly equipped for breakdown......by that I mean not mechanically inclined so much.......A bent shift lever and a few small holes in plastic airbox clearly put her into a panic.....Several other examples in this video stream.....blown fork seals, tool boxes rubbing on wheels....those require somewhat immediate attention....or crashes result....that is a fact.

Yes, I am always relieved when I see Noraly express a commitment to making sensible choices. Each day seems to have opportunities for danger and horrific hazards in the middle of nowhere. I have been a back roads traveler at times in my life, but Noraly's safest day would be my riskiest. I'm a big boy, but she's got the big balls.
I feel emotional when you converse with others in a variety of languages. It is such a beautiful thing to see that people can get along and share in a sense of adventure.

What is fascinating about Morocco is its landscape. You can be in a snowy mountain at one time and in a couple of hours you are in the desert. Thank you Noraly for sharing this experience.

BC, Canada is the same. You can start the day heliskiing, then farther down mountain bike into town, then go surfing to finish things off.
Very true, that is the reason why Morocco has been used as the location for big movies. One of the few places where you can be in a dusty desert town yet have a backdrop of snow covered mountains.

I felt same, but then those giant river beds are there. The thing I was thinking was if climate change might bring an actual rainy season to any of the desert? Of course it was not always a desert. That would be something to see.
Every year Morocco has snow And rain, sometimes floods, in the North. In the South it's desert and doesn't normally rain (where the video is filmed)

Anyone looking for Morocco outside the Kingdom will see our map divided, and this is because of the problem situation in the United Nations. Speaking from experience, the worst is to have a key break off, it's always right at the lock. But, I'm sure Noraly could figure something out.

Nothing happened? You bent your bike key, drove through sandstorms, did over 600klm. Every video is action packed. What a life of adventure itchy boots. Amazing .

You may have not seen as I commented on your older video but your airbox is missing the splash guard which protects the airbox itself, the shock absorber and the suspension linkage. It screws onto the back of the airbox where the holes were and runs down between the tyre and the swing arm. They can get ripped off, either by a stone/tree root etc catching in the tyre or commonly when the bike rolls backwards and the guard catches in the tyre tread which levers it upwards and damages/rips it off. The part number is 17218-KIT-ED. The traditional emergency repair is with a piece of truck innertube riveted on. It is essential, we've destroyed linkage systems in two days riding in wet sand.
Good eye, hope itchy sees this.
So would you agree that "This is serious", or would you say this is a minor problem that could be temporarily repaired with few layers of duct tape? I wonder what a hole in one her side cases would be from one of her many slow speed drops in sharp rocky terrain be called...."very serious"? Similarly was the slight minimal bend of her gear shift lever warranting such a panic reaction.....but like this comment stream seams to state often....she is incredible (not so much in mechanics though.....which is kinda part of don't you think)? She heavily relies on mechanics on these journeys, and being able to find and get to them..and pay them. Your advice is sound, but wouldn't you agree that this comment stream is a little over bit over praising of her incredible (ness).
That explains why there were two large holes for the two attachment screws of the protective guard being ripped off. Seems odd to me that important parts can be damaged so easily on a high-end off-road bike. But I don't do off-road biking, so this must be what you get for quality these days. Even that key was made cheaply.

Some parts in the high atlas saw almost 2 meters of snow drop in a couple of days, the less high parts had all that precipitation in the form of rain which eventually finds its way to lower parts of Morocco.
Even during summer when it is 40C, if a thunderstorm hits the high atlas you can have boulders as big as a house be dragged into the rapid river of water downstream.
Nature is beautiful but immensely powerful.
And once again we see how helpful Moroccans are with the key, just love these positive vibes.
I really liked this video, and while the majestic views of Morocco's landscapes are undeniably awesome, I equally enjoy seeing the villages, towns, cities, and most importantly interaction with the people 🥰

Noraly, there is something where you bike has zero issues…. It’s called motorcycling. Your on aDV bike shouts he making you smile regardless as an Adventure calls for unexpected things which you are handling beautifully.
I'm perplexed with the weather conditions but much more with the beautifulness of Morocco.
We are currently at solar maxima where the suns energy output is 10% higher than at minima. We can expect a bumpy ride as the atmosphere deals with all that additional energy by making weather.

Even your ride on paved roads is a treat. A lot of variation in this ride, starting through the flooded areas, into the windy desert, the large town and then the checkpoints. Even your bent key is "interesting" because it is just "life" & very relatable. THANKS!
The power and interest (for me) is not just the great video of landscape in the world, but the interaction with people where she is at. Her ability and respect working through local customs and languages is EPIC! (at least for me). Her riding at sand mountain, NV, USA drew me in to this channel.

Hi Noraly. We just found you on youtube and are enjoying many of your episodes. You are doing a great job in showing the areas you travel through with its usually wonderful people. We are avid motorbikers living on Vancouver Island in Canada. Your energy is amazing and contagious... awesome stuff! Maybe a little helpful tip: When I saw your issue with the air box it was immediately clear to me that the damage is because the bike has no rock guard where there should be one inside the wheel well. I own 10 motorbikes and they all have one... When you go off road the rocks that are stuck in your tire sometimes get thrown right at the air box at high velocity. You will most likely have that problem again unless you get one of these amazing people down there to make you some sort of a guard... Good luck and all the best!

I've just started watching your UA-cam feeds Noraly and I am hooked! ❤I am in tears of joy for you whilst I reminisce about a similar solo motorbike trip to Smara and into the Sahara desert from England via Spain and Morocco in December 1995 on a brand new Suzuki DR350. I fitted an Acerbis long range fuel tank and had a bespoke rear cage made for two 20L fuel and water cans which I filled up like your top ups Noraly at Smara. The hotel in Samra got a bit twitchy when I carried the 20L water can to my room thinking it was full of fuel! No mobile phones when I went but I did have the first Magellan GPS for civilian use which was specially ordered from America. This caused a bit of concern at the Army check points in Western Sahara as they thought It was a radio transmitter! I still have my Arai dual sport helmet and Rukka motorcycle clothing and your excellent videos are tempting me back once more. Great stuff Noraly and have fun in the Sahara and Africa. Richard 👍❤👍
There was no rain for several years in Tata and other regions. The last rainperiod was in 2015 when I had great problems with rain and never ending sandstorms , it lasted longer than 14 days. It was good for the country, because the Western Sahara was a garden with thousands of flowers. It was absolutely beautiful.
There is no such a western Sahara, there is only Moroccan Sahara. If this not what you believe otherwise, then you are on the wrong channel.

If you think that "boring", "eventless" and "never-ending tarmac riding" will put us off, then think again. You could recite the periodic table and still have us spellbound. Noraly, you bring us to places where most of us have never been, and you show it through your eyes. Your escapades are one of a kind, and so are you. Don't doubt yourself, we don't!

@@massimobozzi1 Noraly is/was a geochemist by training. She knows (and loves) the Periodic Table by heart (though it's mostly only nuclear physicists who have a special love for the Actinides). I'd love for her to sing the Periodic Table. 😁
40 years ago (yes, that betrays my age! 🤣) a uni physics lecturer shared a funny mnemonic to remember (almost) the first 9 elements of the PT: He Likes Beer By Cupfuls, Not Over Frothy (Helium, Lithium Berylium Boron Carbon Nitrogen Oxygen Fluorine). 😄

You missed something ... the moment when you said it looks like paths of Patagonia you passed a small forest of ARGAN TREES 🌳 ... it's a famous tree who give a very useful oil and it's growing only in Morocco you can't find it any where all over the world... I'm sure that you will see it again all over the south of Morocco and I'm sure you will mention it in your next video or maybe you will meet some women associations who produce that expensive healthy ARGAN oil...I feel proud of you to visit that beautiful side of Morocco...you are a blessed woman...peace with you 👍

Tania, I want to tell you that the Sahara is Moroccan and inseparable from my country. It is safe. Be very confident that you will enjoy safety and tranquility until you leave Morocco and you will not see anything that disturbs your comfort. Security plays its role as it should.
I love how you quickly learn enough of the language of the country you are traveling in, to communicate with the people there.

It's interesting how Noraly provides a video of a boring day. If you were planning to go on a motorcycle trip across a continent, it's a good thing to see. It's good to see how she weighs up the dangers and her abilities. It's a fascinating "how to" video as much as it is a video journal. I cant believe that she can sit on a bike for 600kms. My butt and lower back gets sore after half an hour ...and she's riding a trail bike with knobbies.

Another great adventure and story of the power of nature. What stood out for me though is how adept you are with changing conditions and your ability to let go of whatever plans and expectations you might have. It's likely why when you meet a problem or pitfall you respond with a laugh. I keep telling myself I need to learn how to laugh instead of curse. Perhaps another difficult lesson from Itchy Boots that has little to do with riding and a lot to do with being a better person. Thanks for that!

I finally made it. All the way through Season 6, not missing a single episode. Enjoying every laugh, people you meet, drone flying, scenery, Spanish, English and every other Language along the way.
Everyone you talk to and asking you if your traveling alone. I think to myself " Why no, You are bringing almost two million friends with you around the world." Alone , very funny. Ha Ha . I smile to myself.
Now, while I await a new episode from season seven, I will watch seasons 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
