Some very talented drivers here, keeping just the right speed to drown the air intake 😂
Noticed same thing lol. Trying to get engine flooded
I was especially impressed by the defender 90 at 0:55 that should have had no issues given the depth if he hadn't bulldozed into it.

Only two things are probably infinite: human idiocy and the universe. I’m not entirely sure about the universe yet.
The Ford focus lmao
The only ones that handled this crossing really well were the ducks.

And the lambo lol
Dude with the massive lifted SUV takes it nice and slow while everyone with the vulnerable vehicles goes full blast lol
It’s important to know where your intake is located and how well it deals with water.
It's more the case of knowing how to drive a proper Ford.
You see it here when the locals go past all the new 'SUVs' in their small hatchbacks. It's mostly technique in creating and sustaining the bow wave.
At best soaked air filter, at worst bent piston rods.
Electric generator and starter too, they hate water
I always know where my engine air intake is in case I find my self in this situation. Doesn’t everybody.
That`s right and as i explained above, most modern cars nowadays have the air intake behind the wing, down by the wheel. Years ago they used to be on top of the engine, about 20 years ago, i had an old MK2 Granada that had the air filter on top and i came across a flood on my way home, everyone was getting stuck in the middle, but i went straight through with no problem, because i knew the engine.
You know when your terrible at driving through water, when you kill a defender in 2ft of the wet stuff.
operator error ,
Drilled air box for extra ponys 🤣
@@highdownmartin Between each ear...
Somethings been changed on that defender as there’s not a chance the water would get into the air intake doing this!
It was only 1 foot of water according to the gauge.
Still, a JLR vehicle even getting to the ford is something they'll be proud of.
3:22 The Benz lost his plate lol 😂
Lmfao good catch!
Magic trick
It's the dirt
Holy crap that was a s-class Mercedes....pretty expensive car.
Went Full James Bond Spec 🤣
I was backpacking down a country road. There was a railway bridge over the road, and where the road dipped under it, it had been flooded. The only way for me to get through was to go sideways along a ledge above the water.
When I was about halfway across I saw a yellow Ford Capri approaching. I feared the worst, and sure enough they ploughed into the water to soak me. Luckily the water didn't reach high enough, and I just finished the crossing.
Looking up the road, the car had ground to a halt, so I just walked disdainfully past without a pause.
Having just read up on the destructive effects of hydrolock, I have gained a new satisfaction from this memory!
Say what you want but the lambo owner knew what his car could handle due to engine placement and intake placement... good entry speed and kept going through... He did it proper
rear engined lambo with air intakes at the bag, only thing in the front is the boot.
@@hassan123456killa You added absolutely nothing to OPs comment. He literally said the same thing.

@Alen not true. AWD will not help if ground clearance dosent exist, tires are 3 times too wide amd power is 3 times too big. I would outdrive AWD Lambo on snow in FWD Skoda Octavia 1,9 TDI
@@zepter00 I was out in my lambo the other week in the snow. I was passing no end of other cars that were stuck. As @Alen said in most cases the lambo just like most AWD cars would be better than FWd. Pretty obvious really
I'm impressed with how the Beetle survived, considering they went full-send.
No one told him the engine is in de front now... 🤣
VW baby!!!!!!
No opening in the hood or front, except really low down for the intercooler and the air filter box his behind the battery nearly under the windshield.
I had a Corolla AE101 big body with those big flat circular intakes on top of the engine (the filter cover was like a metal dish). I was able to go through floods here in the Philippines that were about knee height. I didn't understand why people were so squeamish about it because where I lived we went through river crossings with these sedans. We also learned not to make a huge splash on the initial water contact and keep positive pressure on the exhaust by never letting the engine idle - always with a bit of gas so water can't go in from the back.
Now that’s how you do it…! Slow and steady and Keep the rpm’s relatively high and consistent…
because it's AE101 with manual i'm guessing? the automatic transmission more "sensitive" to flood, especially if the driver not put to Low gear before entering the water
Do not accelerate or deaccelerate when car is in the water, keep the throttle constant,if u increase the throttle, there would be more water coming inside the engine,nd if u decrease thn there would be increase in pressure in engine,to keep the vehicle going. Acceleration nd deacceleration works like a nozzle. U can even see, those who drive at the constant speed through water,be it a small car, they r passing easily, like the lamborgini guy,he didnt increase or decrease the speed while in water.
@@rahulsharma-ht7ut 0:23 he kept steady speed and failed. It depends on where your intake is more than anything else.
The Lambo - the benefit of having a rear mounted engine. I still wouldn't take nice expensive cars through that much water. It's very foolish.
Problem is the air intakes are at the side. He was lucky it wasn’t deeper.

i LOVE that beefy old range rover that just pulls everything out when it gets stuck.
As the water rises, I see this being a fantastic source of entertainment (at others expense) this winter. Thanks for taking the time to film/edit/upload
There's a thought....does this ever freeze over? That would cause some issues.
can someone explain why the cars stop running? and the white smoke that follows?
@@doctor_who1 it's the Genie escaping... they used all their 3 wishes
@@doctor_who1 water is sucked in and destroys engine... So water and engine not good
@@doctor_who1 inside the engines, the pistons go up and down, compress the air and fuel is added for combustion. The cycled repeats. Air is quite squishy and relatively easy to compress. Water is NOT compressible at all, so if water gets sucked into the air intake and makes it’s way into the pistons, that causes problems. If it’s just a few droplets or so, it shouldn’t be much of a proplem, but if the quantity of water vs air being sucked in is too high in water, the pistons can’t compress it and the rods get bent and then, byebye engine 😢
You know you’re rich when you risk driving your Lamborghini through a flood 😂
Well, in this case risk is not that high, beacuse Lambos have engine on the rear.
@@kissland2789 I still wouldn’t risk it if I had one 🤷♂️

@@mylifeasmanta it's tougher than its handbag clientele will ever know
Always baffles me when I watch these vids how little common sense is in some of these people for driving through flooded fords - like we’re talking of the kind who will show off by accelerating and make a giant splash and then they flood their air intake 😂 so embarrassing yet hilarious to watch!
@yossarian Never heard of that, tbh.. I'd have some questions if people around be thought a wet exhaust would kill a car
@yossarian I'm embarrassed to say I was one of them, until I saw these videos and the attached comments. Very appreciative of some of the info I get off UA-cam.
@yossarian That's not true, particularly for diesels. A large quantity of cold water going into the exhaust will cause thermal shock and crack the catalysts and DPF particularly. Not to mention, sand and silt getting into these components will cause clogging and permanently create an obstruction.
@@DMAX-tp4pc interesting comment. I don't know how or indeed if that would work in the uk but I do know that insurers this side of the pond are very good at taking your money but also very good at avoiding a payout. In this instance I would guess that if you were local the insurers would say that you should've known better and if you lived a long way away they would probably want to know why you were on a country lane miles from home. I think your best chance of getting away with it would be if you drove through it at night, you could then argue that you were on an unfamiliar road and in the darkness had no idea how deep it was until it was to later, even more plausible if you could say that there were other vehicles driving through it?
How about the lack of common sense to build a bridge right there for vehicles
Its is just unbelievable that the drivers are still going, look how many compilations this author already made :D Thank you so much, we all aprreciate
The legendary Rufford Ford! People watching cars have a go for over 50 years!
The big advantage of that Gallardo was, that the intakes sit higher on the sides of it and it's mid-engined not front engined where the water could have entered.

The air intake tubing inside the engine bay isn’t very secure where it connects to the wing, there could have been an opening that got a load of water thrown in it.
