Your story fills me with joy. I’m mainly amazed that you have such a great personality after everything you’ve been through. I hope you’ve had some apologies from your bullies. You were definitely the toughest kid in your school. Inspired from England ❤
Babies have to learn to see, so I imagine that at the age of 36, the sudden influx of new and strange visual information must have been overwhelming. Did you have to learn to see, and how long did that take?
Hello Olivia! I would love to ask you a question about traveling between sighted and unsighted. How is taking in a new place between the two perspectives? Does your sight completely alter that experience or does it add spice to the ultimate experience? And on a nerdy note, are there places you’ll never forget the first time going to without sight because of one other sense like the smell of a certain bagel shop or the vibe in a sushi bar that was more rich without having the sight you have now? There is a place that might be incredible to conduct an experiment with you in Galway, Ireland….. P.S. you are an absolute treasure ;)
Three questions: ● I have heard the story about your shocking experience when you saw yourself first in a mirror. Now I would like to ask how you got accustomed to seeing yourself. Did you actively seek mirrors? Did you marvel at your face? What were you experimenting with and how? ● Your eyes are delivering clearer images now with much more detail, but that is only one part of the process of vision. The other part happens in the brain that has to process the "raw data" coming from the retina. I imagine since that part of the brain was not used to that, it must have had difficulties to interpret the new type visual input. Was that the case? And if so, how long did it take to get to the point that it went (relatively) effortlessly? ● Even as a sighted person, going to a theme park gives me sensory overload, especially through vision. How do you deal with that?
I am absolutely fascinated by you and your story. I have so many questions, as do many other people, I'm sure. One obvious one is (and this may have already been asked/answered) how good is your vision now? Are you able to see without corrective lenses/contacts? Also, I saw you had said something about being bullied, told you were ugly, etc. as a kid. Now that you can actually see yourself, are you able to recognize that you're attractive? And if so, does it help with your self esteem, or has your self esteem never been linked to your looks, since you were never able to see them before?
@OliviaDurant not even joking, this is a great story, and the fact that a pivital moment in your life was at Disney world, I'm sure If disney knew , they would 💯 try to cash in on this lol. It's a great story. But honestly, I'd like to see an arthouse director handle a film like this, really hoping it actually happens.
Olivia, I love your content but the camera moving makes me dizzy. I don't know if it's a fancy camera that's trying to track you or it's just on a shaky surface but if there's any way you can stabilize the camera so I can watch in addition to just listening ...?
Oh yeah, after this video, I replaced my camera. So let me know how the next one looks. However, the next one is a Vlog so it might be a little shakier since I’m walking with it. Once you see that one let me know and then I will have a Talking Heads video again, which is being filmed this weekend so I’m really interested in what you think of that. It’s a bit of a learning curve to get used to doing all of this. :) thank you for your input!!! ❤️it helps
Basically, I may have a couple videos that still have the face tracking since they’re already filmed, but I’m gonna drop it starting today to see how it works
Probably an obvious answer but I was watching your AMA pt. 3 and since It’was hot I was wondering if you feel temperature differently since your surgery?
