I’ve lived in Cambodia for 2 years now. Stayed in Pattaya-Jomtien for 2 months. Much easier and simpler to live in Cambodia. No bank deposit required. No income requirements. No reporting into Immigration. A 12-month visa is only $290 if you’re at least 55, not a $24,000 deposit like in Thailand. So easy.
Please stay there. We have met our quota of angry privileged foriegners here. Thanks.

Watching this video and you talking about the negative nellys reminded me of a time I was in Patong, many years ago.
I head out for the evening, as per my routine, and on the way to get food from my favourite street restaurant, I popped into Scruffy Murphy's on Bangla and see two new young female faces. I said hello, they were from the UK. I asked them how they were enjoying their time, and it was neg neg neg, 'We don't like it, there's nothing to do, we're leaving tomorrow'. They'd only been there for a few days.
I have no idea what they were looking for, or what they were expecting.
'Umm, ok, that's interesting. Have you been to Big Buddha? Chalong Wat? the gibbon sanctuary, the waterfalls, Phuket old town, the Orchid farm, the butterfly farm, James Bond Island, Maya Bay....
The answer to every question, was 'No'.
Without being rude, I said, 'Ladies, if you haven't done any of these things, and not seen anything, how have you formed any opinion at all? By all means leave, and go somewhere else, but I've just listed a dozen of the key attractions, and there are literally dozens more, have you really given it a chance?'
At the end of the day, it was their loss that they hadn't seen it, had closed their minds for whatever reason, and would never get to experience it properly. I have no idea where they went off to, and quite frankly I couldn't care.

I am in lower Jomtien I had a bolt driver go to pass a couple cars and a baht bus now on the wrong side of the road he realized it was a 1000’ of stopped traffic. With Cars coming at us he pulled over on the shoulder waited and then kept going until he could get back in line. Only in Thailand 😂😂😂

Doesn’t matter how nice a place is, if the immigration and visa rules are so restrictive, expensive and complicated. Talk to us about the requirement of opening a Thai bank account and depositing 800,000 baht or $24,000 US into it and having to just leave it there and forget about it, and then reporting in to Immigration every 90 days to report your whereabouts like a convisted felon out on parole and reporting in to his parole officer regularly for the rest of his life! Of course you can hire a visa agent for hundreds of dollars to do most of that for you. Thailand comes with complications and major inconveniences just to stay there. 😕
