A step by step tutorial on how to tie an Aussie Plait fishing knot in mono. Most game or sport fisherman tie a Plait knot in their main line to make a double to attach a wind on leader.

The finish on that knot is great. I have seen ways where its tied with a half hitch, this way looks much stronger and streamlined.

nicely explained. i didnt know the Aussie plait was not for braid. why is that ?

Thanks mate, When the Plait is tied properly in mono it stretches and helps with the knot strength. To tie a double in braid just use a Bimini as it is easy and quick to tie and works very well in braid.
