I've had my 42" LG C2 OLED TV as my monitor for just about 12 months now. It's been incredible to not only utilize its screen real estate for multitasking but also gaming on the panel. I've had zero burn-in issues either with all the panel care settings enabled. Probably the best investment I made into my setup by far.
@@HiddenDeadX with the amount of time I've used the screen (powered on a minimum of 10-12 hours a day every single day at 90% brightness) I've used my OLED the equivalent of what most people do in about five years. 42 inch will provide same pixel density we all are used to. The difference here is vertical real estate we get, which is not something we are used to. So basically you will not need more depth to your workspace, but will need to get used to have more usefull space in vertical axis. I`v used 50 inch TV as a monitor before (on a presentation stand behind my desk) and it was amazing experience. This one is times better in every aspect and will make anyones experience pretty much perfect.
If you read a lot of text, I don't see how your experience would be perfect. OLED PPI is low compared to IPS. My 32" ASUS IPS monitor gives me 140 PPI. So text is amazingly clear and precise and non-pixilated. The OLED C3 PPI is either 96 or 106 and so text will be much less clear and precise. I would be trading off clarity for real estate, which I don't want to do.

Picked up a BB open box with ~800 hours for under $700 with tax. Curiously, it had the screen film still installed. I ran a pixel refresh and put it through uniformity tests: zero burn-in, temp image retention, dead pixels, or any color issues. I do notice a green tint to whites off-angle, similar to the C4. Is this the same panel? It's minor and I only notice if I'm sitting close and looking for it.

I can’t wait till we can get some more ppi and companies acknowledge this market segment, but cost to value ratios is way high here. Monitor vs TV gap is getting thin with lg c2/c3 now. Some of the new m2 macs have hdmi 2.1 too.

CJ I just ordered this TV after I ordered the Gigabyte AORUS 31.5" FO32U2P UHD 240Hz QD-OLED Gaming Monitor. Both will arrive today. Now if I knew the LG C3 42" worked like a PC Monitor I might not have bought the Gigabyte AORUS. Question now is do I return the Gibabyte or keep both. Probably keep both. Another question is which one is better at games or 4K Blu ray? What do you think CJ?
Good review! Do you know if all the functionality of this TV can be accessed if I use it as a computer monitor, and will all the apps and sound play through my computers audio interface?
"Why would anyone want a 42 inch TV as a monitor?" In the words of Step Brothers: "There's so much more room for activities!" Had the C3 42in since 21 Nov 2023 and its phenomenal. It did take a bit of getting used to coming from 38in+ UW's but having the ability to have more windows open in a single monitor is great for productivity. Would be nice to see LG add a higher refresh rate in this line at the 42in - 48in models since they are popular for PC use. However, I hate the Lg smart remote. Ended up buying the LG service remote (which can also be used to enable/disable certain settings independently).
Good video. I just got the 45" curved LG Ultragear monitor for gaming purposes only...its fucking insane. And this is coming from someone who was using a 42" C2 previously.

Excellent review I am totally going to save up for this bad boy to replace/upgrade my dual screen setup then save up for a 48 inch for my wall since I have plenty of space for a 48 inch. :)
What mac did you use? Did it have a HDMI 2.0 output or HDMI 2.1? This would be the issue with 4k 60 hz output. For example the base model Mac Mini has HDMI 2.0 and the Mac Mini with M2 Pro chip has HDMI 2.1 which supports 4k 120 Hz for example.
Hey I'm expecting this to be delivered tomorrow and will be using it as a monitor as well, will I have to worry about burn in? I'm especially worried about the task bar and the minimize, maximize, close and tabs on google chrome being an issue.
I just bought a 48" LG C3 that I use for my desktop monitor as well as gaming consoles. I just upgraded from a 48" LG CX that I used for the same. The CX was okay but doesn't hold a candle to my new C3.
I feel like the auto dimming would drive me insane. How often per hour does it happen, and how long does it last for? I have a 32" LG Monitor, and for me it's the perfect size, though I'm done having a screen with no remote. I miss having a TV for that reason. Tempted in some ways to get this, or just wait for micro LED TV's which are superior to OLED.
Apparently LG has fixed the ABL auto dimming couple months ago. People on Reddit saying it has been fixed. Dimming still happens on static images but movement of your mouse and it’s off again
@@rstrohdach Yes it’s definitely improved, it’s honestly perfectly fine in SDR but in HDR it’s terrible. People say it’s because of the higher brightness but that is BS. If I run HDR at 60% brightness and SDR at 100%, HDR I noticeably dims when basically any bright screen fills even 40% of the screen. SDR doesn’t dim noticeably at even with the entire screen being white… and it’s the same brightness if not brighter.

I'm using the 65" model as an extended display & it disconnects from my PC anytime I shut the TV off... When I turn the TV back on I have to go into display settings each time & extend the display again, also using a pair of Arctis Nova Pro wired headphones & once the TV is reconnected Sonar assigns default audio to the display instead of the headphones have to go in & change everything back to Arctis Nova Pro to get sound... Anybody know a way around this where I'm able to keep the display connected on PC after powering off??

Thanks for info man, was geared up to buy Samsungs new OLED monitor range - specifically the Odysee QD-OLED G6 27", but really looking at getting this OLED C3 now. It ticks all my boxes and its like having two monitors anyway.
not enough ppl talk about using ultra wide mode.. ppl say 4k is bad but it’s obviously better for video & for games if you can run it or ultra wide :3 its flexible
im thinking about getting a 42 inch screen for a few years now.. i think i will pull the trigger this xmas... 42inch is the perfect size to use a vertical 24 as second vertical monitor...
Calman Auto for LG isn't too expensive, it's super simple to do, and who's profile can live on the tv as well as your computer's displays options as a custom profile. It will calibrate your tv to near-perfect, professional grade, color accuracy. In fact, these OLEDs are now so good that there are many professional cinema color graders moving to them and calibrating them with Calman.
This is a super awesome video. I highly suggest wall mounting any monitor bigger than 42 inches/106 cm. You will be able to move back enough with an 30 inch deep desk. I like the large monitor because you get a lot of screen real estate and no line in the middle in a dual monitor setup. But $1250 USD is very expensive!! There are excellent 4K 43 inch/109 cm computer monitors available for about $500 USD that are better suited for a computer.
Everyone that uses a screen bigger than 34" is pretty sure a consumer not a producer. Im a developer and already struggle with a 32" as contents on the sides is off my vision and I already have to move the monitor far away from my position. Im pretty sure that for anything text related 28" is the optimal. Don`t belive the hype!
hello there, im thinking on buying this tv for editing / gaming pourpuses, im courious about how hot can this screen get by working or playing on it for long hours.??
Hi, I'm using a C3 as monitor for a week, it's great overall, but I'm getting blue tint effect on the borders due to the view angle I think, when I move my head to the aides it changes. I feel white uniformity is pretty bad. Does it happen for everyone or I just got a bad panel?
you can set it to auto hide if you are concerned about that, and its probably better to do if you have an oled and leave it on for long periods of time 👍
Can anyone help I can’t decide between the 42 inch or the 48inch because the 48inch has the a9 processor but the 42 inch has the A8 processor I can’t decide which one is better?
I have the Audeze Maxwell headset with the LG C3 42 inch with a RTX 4090 and a i5-14600kf @ 6ghz. Living the dream.. oh yeh and eARC for my new Samsung soundbar and sub. fkn killer... just confused how to make go above 120fps. Like its stuck there with G-Sync on or off?? Auto dimming is kinda odd. Like gotta move your head sometimes for it to realise you're still right there lol
You did not mention the fact that TV has a low stand and someone tall like me needs to buy a stand or make a custom wood stand like yours. Please also mention height and width according to your wooden stand
I have the 48” C1 currently use it for gaming and desk top . I’ve had it since January of 2022 . No burn in. Newer Oled models don’t have burn in unless your careless/lazy
42 inch is the best size for ganing. Oled is the future. LG are the kings together with nvidea. Soon there will be no amd. I could see this happening when I bought my LG CX.
Depends on your use case. Gaming? Depends on your gpu, can you run 4k 120hz? If you have a 4090, do you want to leave frames on the table as that gpu can do well over 120fps at 4k. Doing mainly gaming? Either is great for gaming, ultra wide gives you the more immerse feeling but is still only 1440p. C3 would have better resolution and better HDR. Also have to consider your desk size, you’ll want to sit much further back with an 42” display than 34”. Both have smart features so that’s a wash. I’d say go C3 if you game a exclusively on both pc and console because you can always use it as a bedroom TV when 32” 4k 240hz OLED monitors come out. Go ultra wide if you do professional tasks that use white backgrounds or hold the same image so you don’t have to worry with ABL. you can also consider the non Oled G8 and use mini LED non Oled 4k 240hz hdr 1000 display which is pretty much the best all around monitor that isn’t an ultrawide or Oled
I don't follow many folks - but your script w/ the down to earth review was really well done, and told me everything I need to know about the C3 in less than 10 minutes. Keep it up man!

You definitely need MiniLED 8k 55QN700B/C for your high multitasking. High PPI like you got 4 27" 4k monitors in one.
This was down to $800 during the holidays, but with QHD 4K monitors coming out this month, I can't see myself pulling the trigger on a WOLED.
Obrigado.
😎👍
Thanks for info man, was geared up to buy Samsungs new OLED monitor range - specifically the Odysee QD-OLED G6 27", but really looking at getting this OLED C3 now. It ticks all my boxes and its like having two monitors anyway.
fantastic review.
not enough ppl talk about using ultra wide mode.. ppl say 4k is bad but it’s obviously better for video & for games if you can run it or ultra wide :3
its flexible
im thinking about getting a 42 inch screen for a few years now.. i think i will pull the trigger this xmas... 42inch is the perfect size to use a vertical 24 as second vertical monitor...
I like your style, subscribed

Calman Auto for LG isn't too expensive, it's super simple to do, and who's profile can live on the tv as well as your computer's displays options as a custom profile. It will calibrate your tv to near-perfect, professional grade, color accuracy. In fact, these OLEDs are now so good that there are many professional cinema color graders moving to them and calibrating them with Calman.
there's apps that make multi tasking on a tv much better, you can treat it like two displays.
But for that price they won't be OLED, which is kind of the point of buying this particular screen.
Thanks CJ...very helpful. Appreciate your doing this. I'm a Resolve editor. This looks great to me. In Peace.. Bob
What is the size of the grovemade?
Subbed just to get you close to 100K 🎉💙👊
Major Respect!!!
is there auto dimming in LG 42 C3. while gaming...it was too much in LG 42 C2..and is there brightness increase from 42 C2..
Are you saying the auto dimming option wasn’t available in the service remote window?
Yeah I didn’t see it personally…but I could have done it wrong?
I got a 48in oled monitor :) 120Hz 0.01ms
Loved this video
Thanks
Hi, I'm using a C3 as monitor for a week, it's great overall, but I'm getting blue tint effect on the borders due to the view angle I think, when I move my head to the aides it changes.
I feel white uniformity is pretty bad. Does it happen for everyone or I just got a bad panel?
all EVO panels does have the blue to pink tint.
I use creative speakers as they cost the same as a midrange headset but support 24bit 192khz audio and can sit to the sides of the screen.
Have you tried the PG42UQ? Would be fun to see a comparison. That's what I've been using.
I don’t know wether to purchase this or wait for 5k2k ultrawide
How is burn in? I'm a little worried using this 8hrs a day with the windows task bar
you can set it to auto hide if you are concerned about that, and its probably better to do if you have an oled and leave it on for long periods of time 👍
Can anyone help I can’t decide between the 42 inch or the 48inch because the 48inch has the a9 processor but the 42 inch has the A8 processor I can’t decide which one is better?
I have the Audeze Maxwell headset with the LG C3 42 inch with a RTX 4090 and a i5-14600kf @ 6ghz. Living the dream.. oh yeh and eARC for my new Samsung soundbar and sub. fkn killer... just confused how to make go above 120fps. Like its stuck there with G-Sync on or off??
Auto dimming is kinda odd. Like gotta move your head sometimes for it to realise you're still right there lol
Can I play on 1440p settings? To achieve higher fps with my pc on this monitor?
You did not mention the fact that TV has a low stand and someone tall like me needs to buy a stand or make a custom wood stand like yours. Please also mention height and width according to your wooden stand
I bought this monitor but with my M2 Mac mini pro at almost any resolution I only get half of my top menu and I can't adjust this on the TV
Ok so why does it sound like your spitting bars !! With your music … if your not then you need to, its gonna be good.
I have a 48” C1 I use as my main tv but I’m so scared of burn in. I wouldn’t mind getting a 42” strictly for gaming and some light computer work.
Put it in standby for ten mins before fully turning off to let it auto cleanup to prevent burn in
I have the 48” C1 currently use it for gaming and desk top . I’ve had it since January of 2022 . No burn in. Newer Oled models don’t have burn in unless your careless/lazy
Strange I get 120 Hz out of mine hooked up to my Mac. I am using the HDMI port.
Ihave a philipps 42 for a year, i gonna 55’’ 🙌🏻😁
Hi, does it work True Tone?
42 inch is the best size for ganing. Oled is the future. LG are the kings together with nvidea. Soon there will be no amd. I could see this happening when I bought my LG CX.
Between this c3 and samsung g8 oled which is better? Thanks a lot
Go ultra wide if you do professional tasks that use white backgrounds or hold the same image so you don’t have to worry with ABL. you can also consider the non Oled G8 and use mini LED non Oled 4k 240hz hdr 1000 display which is pretty much the best all around monitor that isn’t an ultrawide or Oled
autodimming has been fixed in a new update
it still does logo dimming which can be turned off from settings.
how bad is the TCP?
