It's cool to see. Back in the day the real limitation was cartridge space - you couldn't get bigger cartridges on the genesis until about the saturn came out. There was Sega CD but it had strange limitations that basically kept it to the original sega cartridge limits in terms of game size.
@ I doubt that. It would have to be remade a bit, but other than losing resolution and color depth, it’s not really doing anything a Genesis couldn’t do.
omg, SOTN is looking so good now! But I love the music in the other two demos it just sounds great with some clean bass. Well done to whoever did that part (also Pigsy?).
In my opinion, games ported to the Sega Genesis should be made for the Sega 32X to better take advantage of the graphical quality and allow for more complete and visually superior ports. Of course I don't want to detract from the current work.
Im excited for Pugsy SotN, Im more into action Castlevanias so the changes he's making actually have me hoping for a more Rondo like SotN onbthe Genesis.
Finished replaying the Dominus Collection about a month or so ago. Can't wait to get back into AoS. Leave Dracula (or Chaos, in this game) with broken wings =D
I am definitively more excited for a future possible Castlevania 3 Port, the game has some cool levels like the sunken ship, swamp, catacombs, graveyard, clock tower that would look pretty cool with the Blast Processing treatment.
I definitely agree a Rondo of Blood port would be amazing to see because that game did appear on both the PC Engine CD and Super Nintendo. So Sega was the one left out. I think it could look really interesting on the system.
The Aria of Sorrow port seems kind of pointless, but the Castlevania III port is more interesting in that it can be an actual audio/visual enhancement. In addition toning down the difficulty a tad would also make for a good definitive version, though there are of course patches out there which offer that same modification for the NES version.
I wish we had more serious projects, like Final Fight MD, that are shown near completion. It's a bit hard to follow all this tech demos and 99% of them will not end up being a complete game. Sadly a game like Aria of sorrow is not possible on the MD and if it was, thats an impossible amount of work for a 1-3 people team that is not getting paid for the work. Castlevania would be possible, but anyways that's too much work and i bet it's not going to be finished.
Even though I liked it as a kid, looking back the Genesis was weak. That's why it didn't have all these kinds of games on it that people are now porting over to it. I don't understand the obsession with porting to the Genesis. It wasn't that good.
16bit upgrades of 8bit games are always welcome.
Demakes are interesting but hard to shake that 'much better elsewhere' feel.
I enjoy demakes just from the technical and artistic perspective. A real “what could have been”
Pigsy's SotN demake is interesting, but I'd rather see a 16-bit remake of Simon's Quest.
I wouldn’t complain about getting that haha
Not to not pick but aria of sorrow is a GBA game not a DS game. Dawn if sorrow is the DS one
Even I get confused haha
Yeah, I'm playing through Dawn of Sorrow currently. The way you can tell is its initials are DS!
Haha it’ll happen
@@draketungsten74Hadn't connected that before. I bet it was intentional.
@@noahheninger I think it was.

I would love to see Simons Quest, or even the unreleased Sega 32x Castlevania the bloodletting. I think these projects are so amazing and fascinating.
They are just projects done out of love for the franchise and you can never go wrong with that
It's cool seeing the Dawn of Sorrow Soma sprite in Aria of Sorrow!
It feels super familiar and weird at the same time
I saw a commenter on his channel request that. I'm glad he went with it.
Castlevania Chronicles would be interesting to see on the Genesis.
I’d play that for sure
It would have to be the 32X. Definitely not possible on 16 bit.

It was pigsy. And yes SotN is really coming along
Music is being handled by Inglebard

I’d tend to agree but it’s also hard because the real hardware users…I’d say maybe 10% ALSO have a 32x
The 32X was a commercial flop, the standard genesis is very capable, that's why it's dominating the aftermarket scene.
Those Madlads in Brasil actually got a new version of the Sega Neptune they have a game in the works to play on it.
That rolling bassline in FM synth sounds so NASTY. Like a retro horror movie.
Yes when the killer is stalking the victim vibes

I’ll be fun to see what it progresses into
Sega does what nintendid.
🤣 gottem

Haha broken wings will always remain
For the Genesis VGE? Count me in bro. 8^)
The more Sega the better

CV III would be my preferred of the two as well

I do too. Plus we can’t have too much Rondo
The snes one is a different game. A bad game.
lolol you called him "pugs-ly" @ ~8:20
Haha Addams family did it
Rondo of Blood would be a good one to convert.
Would look great on Genesis
Castlevania the Adventure Rebirth. It feels like it'd be a perfect fit for a downport.
That would be a fun one
Forward to the Past
You love to see it
Super Castlevania IV as Mega Castlevania IV
Someone is working on that too. No updates for awhile though
How is sotn for genesis progressing?
Seems to be coming along nicely
Hmm. This is a pretty simple demo. Not judging anyone. Just questioning whether or not this is a port or a unique Genesis build using existing assets
It’s just a fun holiday surprise
It's totally built from scratch

I wanna see Castlevania 64.
You're the only one. 😂
No I make two!
Absolutely
Did we get too far involved?
Huh?
@VideoGameEsoterica I didn't see you ask people to hit like and subscribe and hit the notification bell and advertise your patreon
Hah sometimes even I forget. But don’t forget to do both 😉
It’s a gba game dude
Sometimes even I misspeak with the amount I do
None of these games got ported. A small bit of their gameplay and aesthetic got recreated in demos
And that’s the definition of a port to almost all of us
@@VideoGameEsoterica okay, but that isn't the definition.

Nothing is impossible, just improbable
Aria is totally doable on genesis
@@JarlBarbossa I don't think the MD has enough memory, that game's map is huge.
With larger roms and smarter loading and purging of ram a lot more is possible these days
@@Romerco77 Mega drive has phantasy Star 4. The size of the map is no issue.
Cool. I always wanted to play an uglier version of Aria of Sorrow with worse music and fewer colors 😅
Now you can. Sarcasm or not
Another snes snob who likes colorful graphics and whimsical music to twirl like a fairy boy in the open grasslands🧚

Hah! Says the guy that got killed by a T-800! How lame!
Hahaha nice
It wasn’t really weak. It was economical. And we got a lot out of that hardware
@VideoGameEsoterica If it makes you happy it CAN be that bad
It's not 1st April, is it? No? Ah, this post must be bait then! 😆
