If "Dancing Eyes" couldn't get someone to develop a Namco System 11 (PS1) core I don't know what will. But I agree we need more SEGA arcade cores. We should put a ban on more Z80 or 68K arcade cores, no more easy wins for Jotego. 😜
ST-V is cool to me because the idea of a cartridge-based Saturn is a fun concept. I feel the same about Atomiswave and Dreamcast. Optical discs had great advantages in the consumer market, but it's nice not having the loading times with the arcade versions. I took a chance on Groove On Fight when it was new. I think it was my first RAM cart game. It's a cool game worth trying for those who haven't played it as it's well made. ST-V version is definitely the way to go though as the RAM cart is not enough to preserve all the animation frames of the arcade and it is noticeable. ST-V version is the best version.
@@VideoGameEsoterica Right? I bought Batsugun and Guardian Force for only 1,000 yen brand new back in 2000. I see videos by these "me too" young people in their 20s posting videos here on YT on how to pay a small fortune to build a new Saturn collection so they can pretend to be people like me. They are the ones wasting their money, paying hundreds of dollars on games because they're a bunch of silly hipsters. And now they are the reason why I'm priced out of the market so that I can't buy Saturn games anymore. They'd do better to buy a MiSTer instead. My friend has one and loves it.
I don't see how it couldn't be possible if Saturn hardware is pretty much the same as the STV except for needing cartridge support. That said, I guess it depends on whether the cart data could be accessed from the RAM module, and whether anything else in the core already uses that, and does it need exclusive use where it cannot easily be shared for ROM data...
Regarding the PS1 side of things, I'd assume that adding support for ZN1/2, System 11/12, FX1A/B and Gnet to the existing PS1 core is pretty much off the table, but theoretically, could any of these boards be implemented as individual cores? I'd love to ba able to play arcade Soul Calibur at the correct speed.
Question. I have a Mister Pi. All of the videos and groups I come across are for Mister. Is there a difference in software? I cant get my Sega Saturn core to do anything. I just get a black screen. I did the update all and I have a saturn games folder. But thats as far as it goes.

merry xmas, love your channel, 2024 been hard for me, and since I got mister I´m thinking of selling my original hardware, but...as I see 2 player lightgun on saturn is a no no, and on ps1 require a 2 player snac...and a newer IO board for me... atari 2600 with 2 player paddles is a no no too....I know you have all the original consoles, what do you recomend? thanks a lot
Are you telling me I get to spend 2025 playing Waku Waku Shinkansen at home? Side note, you played the Saturn Bomberman Fight English patch yet? I started and I'm enjoying it. Oddly enough it kept crapping out on my fenrir but worked perfectly on my mister. I'm saddened by that. Either that or I have to re do my fenrir.
Thanks for all the great videos this year my dude. My favourite FPGA news source. Happy Holidays🎄
Happy holidays! More fun vids scheduled all week :)
lol, the default truncation on mobile had me thinking I got an amazing birthday present, instead of speculation. Great video as always tho!
Haha I hate that it crops titles
Have a happy holidays Video Game Esoterica
Same to you!
Hope you had a Merry Christmas VGE. Thank you for all you do for us in the community bro. 8^)
Hope you had a lasagna filled Xmas!
I love this ST-V Arcade board. So I bought multi-cart and really enjoyed it. I will be happy if ST-V core release complete.
It’s a fun board to own
The Groove On Fight track is called "Time is Tango". Tango is more of a 20th century thing, while the Victorian era was in the 19th century.
It’s got a great soundtrack and the dark tone is a fun pivot on the Power Instinct games

Haha people do love that game. For reasons
I hope it works. I want to play Terra Diver
We shall see in 2025

NAOMI carts are always a fun time. Way more fun to collect than the discs
Yeah, about 20 years ago it used to be cheaper to get the STV Radiant Silvergun than the Saturn version.
I wish we could go back to those prices

lol well I don’t judge people for how they spend their money. To each their own
Lol wow I literally just asked about this topic! I didnt realize that the ST-V and Saturn were actually identical
Haha yep basically 1:1 par
I wonder if something like the Atomiswave Conversions are possible, so instead of building a new core, just patch the games to run on Saturn?
Probably more work than the core pivot

It may have to be a second core that drops cd functionality and adds in cart reading
What's the video intro music? It sounds like 'Broken Wings' by Mr Mister?
Haha you found the Easter egg
It's like a semi Saturnday!
Haha there’s always more Saturn to enjoy
One of the few times that this IS news for me
Haha nice
I'm always hoping someone can re-implement the X-Band system for online play of certain MD and SNES games😮
It’s most likely possible. Question is does anyone want to put the time in
Long live the Sega Saturn! What a wonderful, but mishandled, machine!
Getting more life in 2024 than ever before

It’s not off the table completely. It’s just a lot of work compared to STV
Oh yes please. I’ve been cheap and not gotten a ST-V multi but this would be ideal.
Fingers crossed for 2025

Same exact software. Sounds like you are just missing the bios

Yes hardware performance wise the STV is just SATURN
I've always wondered if the PS1 arcade system was possible on Mister.
Perhaps. No definitive answer yet
Do you (or anyone else) know if STV games can be booted by Satiator / Saroo and/or Fenrir ?
They cannot
ST-V would be nice, but a main board and multi-cart won't cost the earth. I would prefer Capcom ZN-1/ZN-2 at this stage.
It’s not that expensive but that’s not really the point in “could be on MiSTer”

Sorry to hear 2024 has been rough! Hopefully 2025 sees things lock back up. I can’t really recommend sell or not sell. It’s such a personal decision
@@VideoGameEsoterica I know, but since you got a lot of experience maybe you can tell me if is 1:1 and what keeps you out of selling your OH
I only don’t sell because I love the hardware. Any finished MiSTer core is now my de facto way to play the games
Are you telling me I get to spend 2025 playing Waku Waku Shinkansen at home? Side note, you played the Saturn Bomberman Fight English patch yet? I started and I'm enjoying it. I downloaded it but haven’t checked it out yet. Will be playing it over the holiday
will.install thos on my mrpi
I was just wondering about this...
So many people were. Hence the vid :)
My friend wanted to know what the game in the thumbnail was. 😂
Groove On Fight
Groove on Fight
Yep!
Thank y'all
Meanwhile the video game trap house has returned! Alejandro says Sega now supports what they're doing and has even offered to help 😂
Haha finishing that vid soon for later today
Can we get this core on the Super Sega? 😂
Only if you send more Lambos
Isn't Maruchan the thing than college kids often eat? 😅
Haha exactly that
Only if they can't afford Nissin.
@@SmallSpoonBrigade You means that number one Japanese noodle brand, instead of The brand of Honda's OEM disc brakes? 😅
🤣
