I don't live in New York but in another city and I can relate so well. I hate it when people do this! I think this is a very important unwritten rule for every big city..

donepearce he absolutely cannot give better fuckin tips than me or any other born and bred new yorker. Even half of these "new yorkers" these days are transplants or yuppies with no accent or any other sign of our culture. Bunch of fakes trying to invade.
Chinatown is in multiple burrows, it depends which one since it's massive. I'd only go in there for some food, otherwise it's a waste of time unless you want to see alive crabs.
I live in Queens, one of the 5 boroughs, and I can tell you the most important one is to not walk across the street just because you see others doing it. You may step off the curb late and get hit by a car or cyclist that is going around the group you chose to follow. Look both ways every single time. Even on one-way streets. People on bikes ride opposite on one-way streets and could hit you.
There is more to NYC than the 5 boroughs. For example, a less than 5 minutes subway ride (called the PATH train), from the World Trade Center to Exchange Place, the 1st stop in Jersey City, takes you to the spot where all those gorgeous postcard photos are shot. Go about an hour before sunset. As you face the Manhattan skyline, the sun will set behind you and turn the glass-faced towers into brilliant jewels that continue to glow after sunset, illuminated from within. KEEP THIS A SECRET - The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island are not in New York City. They're not even in New York State. Both are in Jersey City, just a few feet offshore from the stunning Liberty State Park, with an esplanade that wraps around them. The SOL is so close to the shore that you have to look up to see the head and raised arm. Come enjoy but please don't tell anyone. The park is a quiet, peaceful place - well not on Sunday. But during the week it's almost empty. BTW - the "pay what you wish" museum fee is no more. The reason it used to be free for everyone was that the museum got a lot of financing from the city and local organizations. But too many tourists were paying too little or even nothing. So now, unless you have proof of NYC residency, you will be charged a fee. ATM - the video shows at $2.25 fee. HA-HA-HA - that is so out of date. Most ATM in Manhattan now charge $5 per transaction and limit the amount of withdrawal to make sure you get well screwed. Insider tip that may apply if you are an American and you bank at a Credit Union. Many CU's belong to an ATM network that treats your card as if you are at the CU itself. There is no fee for you - at the exact same ATM inside a 7/11 store or McDonalds, that will charge the next customer behind you the full $5 ripoff. The network is called CO-OP. There's a free app for most smartphones. It will show you a map of the nearest fee-free ATM on that CU network. Broadway shows are fantastic. Go see as many as you can. A last minute deal is "Rush Tickets.' Each theater has it's own policy. Just ask the (usually surly seeming) guy behind the window at the theater's box office. He's not surly. It's NY. Rush tix usually are offered early in the morning at which time they may also offer Standing Room tix at the back of the theater. You will see the same show for $15 or 25 bucks as someone who pays $500 or more for 5th row on the aisle. NEVER buy tix on street. If the seller offers a discount (and the fakes sure look real) you are being ripped off. Were they real, the box office would buy them back. If they are real and you are directed to pick them up at a location other than the theater box office, you are being overcharged. Best theater deals in NYC? Off-Broadway. Google that. It's where the best shows are created, nurtured and perfected before they move to a big house. It's usually the same show, the same actors in a smaller, more intimate setting. The show you see today for $35 to 60 bucks may cost you ten times that next year in a bigger theater. The term Off-Broadway does not refer to location. Some OB shows are right down the block, a few yards from the biggies. OB simply means (1) the theater has fewer than 500 seats and (2) it is not under contract with Actors Equity, the union for performers. ENJOY NYC (and please walk to the right. Do NOT stop unless you move over, out of the way.)
As a local we do make small talk. Also Manhattan is nice good things to do there Brooklyn has a lot to do and that’s. Proboly the most livly borough Queens has some bad areas but it’s also got some cool things to do. There’s a good german restierant. The world fairgrounds and the iconic 7 train. Statin Island is meh It shouldn’t be on your list unless your gonna be in New York for a while it’s mostly just residential but it does have the ferry. Bronx avoid unless your taking Metro North or Amtrak but it’s got a lot of crime. Although I’ve been there a lot it doesn’t have much to offer for tourists. Over the river in Hoboken is a nice area to walk around and you can take a day trip on a train up to Albany or New Haven or down to Philadelphia.
ThugNigachu Nah dude.. if you have to stop, you gotta pull over. Just cause you stop, doesn't mean the people behind you wont. If you just randomly stopped in front of me, I would either move you, or move right through you.
I live in Boston, and when you take a train it only takes 3 hours. I recommend you not to take a car. And also New Yorkers are actually nice, have you even ever been to NYC?
MIND NOVA as a New Yorker, I was just walking through Times Square while these tourists were filming and laughing at a homeless guy with what looked like a sick dog. It was absolutely disgusting
WHY do you assume this is basically all you can do in NYC, he just pointing out the basic mistake tourist do, NYC has millions of other activities you can do, these are just the basic mistakes to not do.
Juliette Darmofalski so all you would do is go to subway, hail a taxi cab, ride a subway, and go to some museums okay. At least you can now do it the right way.
honestly I don't know why people don't visit Queens New York because it is just really pretty there and the picture that you showed with the world and a bunch of fountains I literally Live 2 blocks away from there cuz I live in Queens New York and I love Manhattan I always go there but you know you should also go to different places instead of just Manhattan Times Square try to visit like the Bronx Zoo or queens or Brooklyn, Brooklyn is really good too I love Bronx and Staten Island
1:49 NO, Staten doesn't count. There are only three others to explore. But in all seriousness, if you're a tourist, there's really no reason to go to Staten Island. There's nothing to see there, crime is significantly higher. If you're a tourist, chances are you'll stand out and be easy prey for pickpocketers. Take the ferry to Staten Island, it's a nice ride (and free), but don't get off at Staten Island.
AGREED. STATEN ISLAND IS LAME AS FUCK. IT'S WHERE ALL THE RACISTS AND RETIRED FIRST RESPONDERS IN THE CITY GATHER TO GET AWAY FROM THE REST OF US WHILE VOTING FOR CRACKPOT NEOCONSERVATIVE CANDIDATES AND THREATENING TO SECEDE EVERY 5-10 YEARS WHEN THEY DEPEND ON THE REST OF THE CITY, ESPECIALLY MANHATTAN. THAT HUGE UGLY ASS FERRIS WHEEL ISN'T GOING TO MAKE IT ANY MORE ATTRACTIVE. I WISH THEY WOULD SECEDE SINCE THEY WANT TO SO BADLY. SELL THEM OFF TO JERSEY. THAT'S MORE THEIR SPEED.
If you go to New York as a tourist, ITS OKAY! It's not a bad thing to be a tourist, do whatever you want, it's your stay, your money, your life, you came to have a great time so have fun and dont worry if you look like a touritst!
Pro tip- watch out for the bike lane. You'll get hit by a delivery boy or a Citi bike before you get hit by a car. I see this at least once or twice a month.
Not me boy, my list includes Washington square park to see where I Am Legend was filmed, Bryant Park, Madison Square park to eat Shake Shack from the original Shake Shack, little Italy, Chinatown, top of the rock, Brooklyn, and Coney Island.
+Sentinel HDD Lol you just named a bunch of places in manhattan, then named brooklyn. Then you said coney island, which is in brooklyn. So yeah, you're just what xYesi Boox described.
One thing that EVERY tourist COULD do to see a lot of every borough for a minimal price is to take the subway to the end of every line that runs above ground. There are some that never run above ground, but the ones that do have some nice looking neighborhoods along the route. Chicago does as well.
Eric istooop Your argument don't make sense....So if I say I'm going to Manhattan and then say I'm going to Time Square?? Brooklyn is one thing and |Coney Island is a different thing even tho Coney Island is in Brooklyn.
LOVE this video - I'd add: Don't get at rental car/drive ANYWHERE. Get a Metro card for a week or month, or however long you're staying. Don't stand over people on the subway reading the map. Don't wear your backpack on a crowded train if you're standing (fights happen). Use a handkerchief or napkin to hold on to the pole on the subway (GERMS). Natives usually say "the train", if you're asking for directions. Go to off spots to eat - diners, etc., in the boroughs. Go to museums/zoos/etc., during off hours or during the week (discounts and avoid crowds).
Love the "Don't take the Sightseeing Cruise, the Staten Island Ferry is free!" w/ UP CLOSE view from the Circle Line boat, not from the very far away SI ferry! U get what you pay for!
lohphat Say AT Machine no one knows what you're talking about, say Automated Teller Machine Machine, people will give you a strange look, say ATM Machine, no one will think twice. Sigh.
also when in NYC, walk on the RIGHT side of the sidewalk!!!
OMG yes.
no sidewalks aren't a road
We walk on right side of sidewalk in Finland.
eetu53 i love Finland!!!
They might as well be in NYC
Lol @ the small talk one. You can literally be on the bus or subway and have amazing conversations with people you'll never see again. New Yorkers are fucking amazing.
just because people will talk, doesn't mean they enjoy it.
If people don't enjoy talking then they generally won't talk.
Clorox Bleach Arent you international?
Sterling Ross Believe it or not, there's a thing called not being rude. Most of the people I know will respond, but won't continue the conversation because they don't enjoy it.
Sterling Ross trust me you normally wont. don't take this too hard but we have work to do and don't usually want to talk.
You forgot to say “ don’t drive a car in New York City” because traffic is evil. Upstate NY is fine it’s just the city
kevin Hill if you can drive in the city, you can drive anywhere.
I just skateboard don't pay for traveling
Parking is 100 bucks a day
simon caymer
Where do you live?? I live and drive in Brooklyn and traffic is a fucking mess
simon caymer so you live in the fancier residential neighborhood?
14. never show your green in public sometimes a hobo will follow you and ask for money.
15. use Google maps app don't ask for directions because some New Yorkers will ask for money afterwards or get annoyed a tourist is slowing them down from their destination.
16. don't stare at the homeless and stay in well lit areas with people around, taking the shortcut may get you cut.
17. lastly go see a show in Manhattan because rising talent started off there like Chris Angel, Madonna, & even Lady Gaga performed at open mic nights back in the day.
(born and raised in NYC) I live in Tampa now and recommend channelside at downtown Tampa and tradewinds at St Pete Beach 👍

As a New Yorker I can definitely say that you shouldn't stop on the middle of the sidewalk! You have no idea how many times I've had to stop for tourists
I don't know who you are, I don't know what you want, but I will find you and stop right in front of you.
Alejandra Lopez Right!! that happens to me everyday for school
I don't live in New York but in another city and I can relate so well. I hate it when people do this! I think this is a very important unwritten rule for every big city..

Ray dreamer yes ikr
@ 1:50 ...................
DON'T take the subway to Staten Island...........you'll drown..............
LOL! Now i wonder why you would drown if you took the subway to Staten Island? The Ferry would be faster anyhow i think.
Richard Turner
There IS NO subway to Staten Island.........(8^)
There may be an above ground train ON IT, but there is no train TO IT.
Buford Pusser You don't really think i was serious about a subway train to Staten Island, do you? I was only joking. Anybody in their right mind knows it's impossible for them to build a subway to Staten Island, unless of course, they built a tunnel under water. It was only a joke.
Richard Turner
Some people that watch this video might think there is one. I was correcting them, not you.
(8^) (8^) (8^) Love to the wife and kids.
Thanks
I'd just like to point out that the photo of the "Bronx" that they used is actually Chinatown in Manhattan.
And the 'subway' (3:23) was the Washington DC Metro!

You have a British narrator talking about the DC subway at 0:39 - add those to the list of things not to do in NY!
Timosha21 So no British people allowed LOL
You must remember that the British settlers are the ones who built up the Northeast in your neck of the woods. America used to be apart of Britain.
I live near DC true that looks like DC's metro system.

As a New Yorker though, be careful with the Bronx if you don't know exactly where you're going. Good and bad parts are literally adjacent.
HinaHina living in the bronx, i know what you mean. I knoe my way to school and home, but some people get robbed or get kidnapped
HinaHina That's all boroughs, Manhattan has projects in lower, mid and upper Manhattan, Queens, BK and Staten Island aren't any different. I have been to all boroughs and have family all over N.Y. I was born in Staten Island and lived in Bronx 20+ years.
the subway doesnt go to staten island
Exactly
For tourists, avoid the north shore of Staten Island, it isn’t safe, I have experience
It does
Ivy Ivy no it doesn’t...
I live in NY and this is so funny
Eric Wuestmann agree I do too BROOKLYN life

Vitamin Joe He's the guy from 442oons channel
Arnaldo Capo LoL, UK people are the least migrant nation
1:24 what that British dude said is not true we do not avoid time square. 0:37 and a empty subway car is a good thing cause usually there is no seats for anybody to sit
Why is a British guy giving NYC tips?
Most immigrants but tourists coming from Europe are in New York City but also Los Angeles and Miami
+Sincerely Tracie lol I know but the majority of european new yorkers are Italians and irishes
no it's not
+Andreyes Paladines its true but there's other whites but the Hispanic and Asian community will still grow in NYC but Los Angeles as well
That's exactly what I thought to 😂
as a new yorker i believe KATZ deli is a MUST
Mariah really? It's a tourist trap. Expensive and over rated! There are better delis like Mile End or Pastrami Queen.
it’s not overrated it’s placed where it’s deserved. Yes it’s pricey but you get what you pay for and it’s worth it
ITS WORTH IY!! EVERY CENT
Yes, I’m a New Yorker and I love Katz’s
A place can be both a tourist trap and awesome... Katz is both. But fair points about other delis. Love Pastrami Queen.

you need a ferry to get to staten
Ari Luv they have a bus that goes over the Verrazano bridge, takes you deep in the borough.
kismetnyc you can buy you have to go from Jersey City. Which you should visit if you're in NYC too. I live in Jersey City.
#1 thing to remember as a New Yorker myself: don’t EVER stare at strangers on the street, especially on the subway. People will think you’re trying to intimidated.
Unless your a little kid
1:54 is not the Bronx it's Chinatown seen from the Manhattan bridge. Staten Island ferry isn't a 15 min round trip. It's 25 mins to go one way and the. 25 back. The rappers always have real CDs. I buy them all the time to support upcoming artists and have never got a blank cd.
he said 50 minute round trip. 25+25=50
You forgot don't stare at someone for too long
Tyron Jackson isn't that in every city?
Tyron Jackson isn't that anywhere?
The museum pay as you wish rule changed for most of them! Make sure to check the website of the museum and plan ahead!
1:03 Sooooo not true. That's such a stereotype. I love small talk, and so do others.
Just don't stop someone who looks like they're in a rush. They're probably trying to get to work or something like that.

runningstorm920 he might live their fucker
Omg thank you
As someone who has lived and worked in NYC for 57 years - because he is correct on every point. And it's not America, It's New York City.
Incase the narrator gets too bias
I already know everything, I've been living in NY for ages, but I still like watching this
I'm from Chicago and that stopping in the middle of the sidewalk to take a picture pisses me off to.
says The Bronx but shows a pic of Chinatown😂
WE JUST HAPPEN TO BE IN THE *GREATEST CITY IN THE WORLD*

THE SHCUYLER SISTERS
Thank you for the tips we are going to visit NYC next month :)
Does this guy even live in New York? He acts like he's an expert.
Agree!!!
donepearce oh shut the fuck up.. You don't know shit about us compared to those that live and breathe it.
donepearce the fact that you're saying a tourist knows more about new york than a fuckin native is ridiculous.
donepearce he absolutely cannot give better fuckin tips than me or any other born and bred new yorker. Even half of these "new yorkers" these days are transplants or yuppies with no accent or any other sign of our culture. Bunch of fakes trying to invade.
donepearce you're the failure and I do indeed resent you. But it ain't sad. You're the dipshit talkin about outsiders will know more than locals
I live in NYC and honestly everyone is really friendly.
レズニックブランドン
That's The Funniest Shit I've Ever Heard.
レズニックブランドン You sure about that?
So Chinatown is in the Bronx?^^
@Dead Rosezthere's a China town in Brooklyn too....
Chinatown is in multiple burrows, it depends which one since it's massive. I'd only go in there for some food, otherwise it's a waste of time unless you want to see alive crabs.
You forgot don't make a 9/11 joke
Saying Americans caused 9/11 is a very nondescript and rude comment, especially to people who lost someone then.
ColorAmber No it's not. I don't say the people who died are to blame. I say American government is to blame.
+Ιωάννα Φασούλη astalavista15 why are you blaming them? They did nothing the terrorists just attacked gosh
+Ιωάννα Φασούλη astalavista15 and u literally said that Americans caused 9/11 ... U stupid
What are your reasons?
London and NYC are my favourite cities in the world reply what country or city Ur from
Janae Olivia Queens, NY
Lily Atik ouuu nice
Janae Olivia the netherlands
Manila from the other side of the globe! Heading to nyc this april!
Queens,Ny
I live in Queens, one of the 5 boroughs, and I can tell you the most important one is to not walk across the street just because you see others doing it. You may step off the curb late and get hit by a car or cyclist that is going around the group you chose to follow. Look both ways every single time. Even on one-way streets. People on bikes ride opposite on one-way streets and could hit you.
15. Not wearing timbs
What are timbs
Javi Ruiz the’re boots
Do NOT stop unless you move over, out of the way.)
hello Arts! Great video sharing dear. You get to visit a lot of places. That's awesome

FrolicGaming
Eh, you're prolly right. hahaha
jeff jeff
hahaha
He's on point with suggestions though.
Number 3. please don't stop we got places to be
-a New Yorker
kidflashgirl123 no one cares
??i do XD
everyone stops. You should be used to it and just side step or walk around them.
-Another New Yorker
Don't stop or else a woman literally tries to push you out of the way into oncoming traffic(i was 14)
-an upstate New Yorker
ThugNigachu Nah dude.. if you have to stop, you gotta pull over. Just cause you stop, doesn't mean the people behind you wont. If you just randomly stopped in front of me, I would either move you, or move right through you.
14. Don't crash planes into buildings
That guy who comments everywhere savage
OML XD
Why not?
Tugsuu Gsg Because, the brave terrorists die...
I think they already know that...
I live in Boston, and when you take a train it only takes 3 hours. I recommend you not to take a car. And also New Yorkers are actually nice, have you even ever been to NYC?
yeah but there are a lot of not-so-nice new yorkers. family Italian restaurant owners are chatty though!
Number 1: Don’t film dead bodies like someone.
MIND NOVA as a New Yorker, I was just walking through Times Square while these tourists were filming and laughing at a homeless guy with what looked like a sick dog. It was absolutely disgusting
so basically don't do anything in new York ok
No, don't do anything a typical tourist would do.
Juliette Darmofalski tourists will get bullied
WHY do you assume this is basically all you can do in NYC, he just pointing out the basic mistake tourist do, NYC has millions of other activities you can do, these are just the basic mistakes to not do.
Juliette Darmofalski so all you would do is go to subway, hail a taxi cab, ride a subway, and go to some museums okay. At least you can now do it the right way.
Juliette Darmofalski exactly, we are trying to work.
“The well honed instincts of a local” lmao they make it sound like locals and tourists are another species
honestly I don't know why people don't visit Queens New York because it is just really pretty there and the picture that you showed with the world and a bunch of fountains I literally Live 2 blocks away from there cuz I live in Queens New York and I love Manhattan I always go there but you know you should also go to different places instead of just Manhattan Times Square try to visit like the Bronx Zoo or queens or Brooklyn, Brooklyn is really good too I love Bronx and Staten Island
Sophia Costas Queens has the best food.
0:52 heard of pokemon go?
Yes we have! Heard of geocaching? ua-cam.com/video/YYgAGolzFc0/v-deo.html

Great video. I would never have known how to get along in NYC if Sir Nigel Limeykins hadn’t made this vid.
I feel so bad now, because I did, if not all, most of the things I wasn't supposed to do. But luckily, I never bought a I heart NY shirt.
Jason Yu good for you because as I am a New Yorker (born and raised) we find that shirt hilarious and a joke to us.
@@dismantled1911 lmao right
1:49 NO, Staten doesn't count. There are only three others to explore.
But in all seriousness, if you're a tourist, there's really no reason to go to Staten Island. There's nothing to see there, crime is significantly higher. If you're a tourist, chances are you'll stand out and be easy prey for pickpocketers. Take the ferry to Staten Island, it's a nice ride (and free), but don't get off at Staten Island.
simon caymer same it is so nice there
THAT'S MORE THEIR SPEED.
simon caymer said no one ever 😂
ItimdatahtIsawtsujderobenoyaddnadetaercsihttnuoccaotllortelpoepenilnoekilehttserfoehtdlrowstnawotod
Wow I'm dying.
I have been in:
Queens
Bronx
Manhattan
Staten Island
Brooklyn
(also it's in the order of time)
so...you've been to new york city..?
If you go to New York as a tourist, ITS OKAY! It's not a bad thing to be a tourist, do whatever you want, it's your stay, your money, your life, you came to have a great time so have fun and dont worry if you look like a touritst!
Also don't wear a Red Sox hat during the baseball season
Nugget Incorporated Specially Boston cap .
Nugget Incorporated
YOLO!!!
Elvis Ines well same thing I hope you know that
And I learned wearing a Yankee cap, you either get a thumbs up or the bad finger. and can't predict ahead of time.
It's much more dangerous to wear a Yankees hat in Boston.
Pro tip- watch out for the bike lane. You'll get hit by a delivery boy or a Citi bike before you get hit by a car. I see this at least once or twice a month.
STAY AWAY FROM THE BIKE LANE AT ALL COSTS
Always take the ferry, I swear it's even better than going up close to see the statue
the bronx is the hood. Never go there alone
What's wrong with the Bronx? It's not that bad.
its the hood
"The hood" cringe
+Scott Velez Yeah only some parts! Like some parts of Harlem are bad.
so? i live in the bronx. in my neighborhood its not the hood.
Go to the museum of illusions in NY I am not sure where but I have been there it’s so cool👍🏻
Welp I live in New York.... but everyone only thinks of the city.... I have personally never been to NYC
What a shame... You should go!
But I live on Long Island but been there like 25 times since I was 1 or 2 and now I'm 11
Pickle Juice that's because everything anyone knows about ny is in nyc. You dont think of anything that isn't nyc when you think of ny.
Pickle Juice I live every close to the city and I think of other places in Ny
You should go, it’s cool. I live in Brooklyn and I go to Manhattan from time to time.
#06
I appreciate that most tourist just go to Manhattan and even barely know about the 5 boroughs
Eric istooop
Your argument don't make sense....So if I say I'm going to Manhattan and then say I'm going to Time Square??
Go to museums/zoos/etc., during off hours or during the week (discounts and avoid crowds).
oh ok so you are telling us to avoid everything that a normal tourist would do. :I
exactlyyyy! new yorkers hate tourists, it's very well known
I live in London and tourists piss me off. Everyone hates tourists, even tourists.
sagwashine Not really, he is telling us NOT to do THESE tourist actions, there are millions of other things you can do in NYC.
LemonComputer no we don't like tourists because they are annoying and block us when we are tying to get to work, home, or do something important
***** but we depend more on various corprate offices

Great video! In short, just don't be a tourist and you'll fit in fine in New York. Thanks for sharing!
