We did one Oceania (Greek Isles) and we were not impressed either. We also did an Explora (Caribbean area) and it was ok but definitely a step up from Oceania. We have decided to stick with Regent and Silver Sea for the next 2 years. Love your channel.
As a fellow foodie, this video was really useful. I was going to book an Oceania cruise, as a change from Viking, but have now booked the Regent Splendor. Thanks for great output.
@@markheath5827 Regent is amazing we absolutely loved it on both occasions.. Our full vlog review is on our channel on our last cruise from Montreal to New York and shows all the dining options. Good choice 🥂🎉
We have always really enjoyed Oceania but would never go on their smaller ships. Love the new Vista and the refurbished Riviera and Marina. So many great options for food that aren’t available on the small ships.
You two always look so glamorous especially you Christina, loved it when one day your lipstick matched Stuart's shirt 😊 thank you for sharing this excellent video, happy travels x
Oh my. What a disaster for a brand that claims to be luxury. So glad we booked with Silversea! Please tell me if you prefer Seabourn or Regent. I will be looking at those two lines for our next booking. And if your parents are in their 90's they look fantastic! Thanks so much!
😂 I will let them know! Joan is 91 now and has decided no more travelling as she’s getting tired, she’s had a good run! Love Regent and Seabourn, Regent better on dining and Seabourn better on special events (eg caviar in the surf) Seabourn more happening. Love them both for different reasons. Going to do a video shortly regent vs Seabourn (that will be controversial 😂) Can’t wait to try Silversea.. hopefully this year sometime 🎉🥂
Excellent review. It's too bad someone led you to expect the Oceania experience to match Regent in terms of staff to passenger rates and inclusiveness - both impacting the cruise experience. We now have additional cruises booked with both Regent and Oceania and find both lines to be excellent. We must book a higher-level cabin in Oceania than the new Regent ships in order to have a similar ambiance in the stateroom. And we know the service will almost certainly be faster and more personal on Regent. But both experiences are wonderful to us. We keep lists of cruise staff on both lines and we appreciate the "Welcome back home." encounters from them all.
@@paulreid5467 Thanks for your comments! We are considering a booking shortly on Vista as we’ve had so many comments telling us we had a bad experience and it’s not normal and to try Vista, so we may just do that and publish another updated video! 😀
@@theposhtravelblog Hopefully, it will turn out better. I didn't want to go on and on, but your reminder that "The finest cuisine at sea." really isn't "the finest" on most days is right on. We order different menu items on Oceania and we find the Marina/Riviera class kitchens to be the best. I look forward to your review of Vista. I'm not sure we will try that because we enjoy the Riviera in particular, too much. Thanks for your blog. BTW, the Explorer is my favorite Regent ship and we have tried them all. Loved your review of it.
Thank you for your review, we always enjoy watching your videos! Sorry to learn of your mixed experience, we sailed our first Oceania on the Vista last month and fortunately had excellent service and food. Our understanding is that Oceania is not an Ultra Luxury Cruise line like Regent, Seabourn and Silverseas (and the pricing reflects as such). I think it is fair to say that Oceania is the "Finest Cuisine at Sea" (in its class); for us, it was the best cuisine we have ever had on a cruise. We also highly recommend their Penthouse Suites for extra space and added amenities. For us, Oceania is an excellent option for people like us who cannot afford or are not particularly keen on the all-inclusiveness found on the Ultra Luxury lines. Hope you have a better experience next time!
Thanks for watching and your comments. We were just saying we’ve had so many positive comments about Vista that it sounds like a totally different experience! We feel another video coming on.. Oceania Take 2!!!! Hopefully we can put right what we reported back about Sirena and take a look from another perspective. Our cruise was really bad, in fact we didn’t even include in our video the shocking treatment we received on embarkation day, they had a complete ‘don’t give a damn’ attitude. The cruise director and hotel director were dreadful, we could write a book! Anyway let’s hope next time we have a better experience, which I’m sure we will. We also had lots of comments saying we can’t compare to Regent or Seabourn, but when they are declaring in their marketing ‘the finest cuisine at sea’ ,serving up on Versace plates , and pictures in the brochure that make it look like the Ritz in London, they are basically leaving themselves wide open to criticism. Maybe they should state ‘finest cuisine at sea in its category’ that would be a lot better and we wouldn’t have put it in our video! 😂 Thanks again for watching.
What they did to your Mum on embarkation is criminal. Especially since you had notified them ahead of time that she had physical limitations. They are supposed to mitigate any issues for the guest. They had a responsibility to advise guests if the cruise lines cannot accommodate and refuse the booking. This should be pursued in court.
@@bcarol2484 we’ve written to them so will see what they say. It was atrocious though, and we didn’t actually put everything that happened in the video!! There’s worse!! 😩
For a long time, as the price of Chanel increased, I no longer thought I could afford it. I think I'll be happy that I have the kislux as my travel bag that I don't have to take care of. By the way, I'm sure no one will have a hard time telling the difference. Thanks for the comparison.
It would be interesting to hear Joan's feedback given what you said occurred. Sadly it seems that some cruise liners have not thought about people with mobility issues and it really needs to be addressed.
@@merilynp-j294 Poor old Joan is 91 ,hard of hearing, and has no idea how to use a mobile phone! 😂 Unfortunately she has now decided to hang up her cruising boots and prefers a simple life at home! This really put her off travelling. What was so annoying is we have all the forms which we sent to them detailing everything regarding her mobility and advising she couldn’t make the gangway steps. They obviously didn’t read them! Not good.
I don’t think that Oceania pretend to be Silversea Seaborne or Regent. They align themselves more with Viking and Azamara ie somewhere between Celebrity, Cunard and Holland America and the luxury lines. Their pricing generally reflects that. So if you were expecting the Luxury experience you were always going to be disappointed.
We only compared them to Regent Silversea and Seabourn as they declared with a registered trademark ‘The Finest Cuisine at Sea’ and they certainly did not meet this. We think they need to rethink their motto ..
@scifimonkey3- let’s remove the cuisine issue (we all know taste is subjective) -and look at the issue they had with their mothers embarkation. UNACCEPTABLE on any cruise line with registration in the US or Europe. It was a third world experience with snarky staff. As a matter of fact many 3rd world countries would have treated their mother better-as they have more respect for the elderly. BTW-the platting of the entrees in all, but the Red Ginger, left a lot to be desired. Food enjoyment impacts 3 senses. Taste, smell, and visual. Visually it was unappetizing.
Thanks for honest post, I took your great advise on Explorar journeys and loved it.and guest what we are going back to Explora journeys Feb 25 for 9 days from Miami to Caribbean again.thanks both of you for all your videos❤.I am afraid This cruise Oceania not my cup of tea …….
We were on the cruise that left Dublin after you disembarked and i agree the food was not good at all. Most of my meals were somewhat cold and lacking any flavour. The itinerary was super cool and the price was not terrible, so there it that.
@@theposhtravelblog It is really unfortunate as the cruise destinations were great and the boat was in decent shape. The food convinced our entire group to avoid Oceania going forward.
Never done an ocean cruise (river cruises, yes), but do enjoy your travelogues. VG film and editing. Apropos those burgers: I recently had one at Gatwick airport, Wetherspoons, and it looked far more appetising than what you showed !
It’s unfortunate that you found out that marketing hype is just that, hype! We would put Oceania MDR food on a par with Azamara but below Regent. That said, Regent’s cruise fare is well above that of Oceania’s (especially their “R” type ships) based on our experience. A really enjoyable watch, thank you 🙏
