A fascinating tour of the GALLEY on the Regent Seven Seas GRANDEUR, hosted by Chef Michael Meyepa
We were very privileged to enjoy a full tour of the Galley onboard Regent Seven Seas Grandeur by Michael Meyepa, the hugely talented Executive Chef. Michael kindly highlighted the workings of the main galley, and explained how it operates on a daily basis. We hope you enjoy the tour and find it as fascinating as we did..

We cruised from Seville to Dublin June 2024 on Oceania Sirena, and have to say we were slightly disappointed for a number of reasons, the main one being that the dining didn’t match up to the registered trademark ‘Finest Cuisine at Sea’! Join us as we sail from sunny Spain to rainy Dublin! Enjoy the ports we visited, the ship, and the dining options.

@@cruiseforever1281 Thank you! 🙏🏼 We are clocking up around 1300 a month now so really thrilled with that 🥂🎉
@@theposhtravelblog With most cruise vlogers focused on the larger ships, you have found a unique niche. Good for you!
Thank you for making me aware of this!
Hi. I follow your blog occasionally. It seems that recently you have enjoyed your cruises on Regent, but after Japan, you still ranked Seaborn higher due to their cabin comfort. I know that on the Grandeur you are on a slightly lower category cabin. I am currently currently on splendor in a concierge suite which has at least all of the comfort that a Seaborn cruise had for us, but much better inclusions. Incredible tours, no having to buy a spa package, and more selection of restaurants. Do you still hold by your Seaborn being highest rated after your second regent cruise? Thank you, from a future planner.
Hi Brenda, thanks for your message and for watching. Regent is number one for us, and superior to Seabourn, especially the dining options. We are currently on Crystal Serenity, and are really enjoying it, it’s a really lovely cruise and very elegant. Video to follow soon.. ❤️
As a solo Traveller, Seabourn crew is absolutely amazing taking care of me and making sure that if I needed company, one of the officers would have dinner with me or I would be seated at a hosted table. And as you said, I have never been with a crew member that did not have a smile, a kind word, or an offer to help. The only time I had a slight difference with a crewmember is over how often to change the sheets. I only want my sheets changed once a week, and my room stewardess wanted to do it if not every day then at least every other day. It took a while for us to agree on Sunday every week. Thank you for letting me rave about Seabourn. This seems to be the only UA-cam channel that talks about the ship. Most channels are focused on the larger ships.
Glad Seabourn took care of you, they are a lovely cruise line ❤️
Adore Seabourn. In the past nine years, this is the only ship I have sailed on so I am a diamond elite. Their one week free cruise is really amazing. What they do is they figure out how much money you spent during that entire time and then give you the equivalent of one week free cruising. So for me I got a check for $32,000 for my one week free cruise. I was fascinated with your evaluation of Regent. Truthfully, it sounded like a much more amazing ship than Seabourn when it comes to luxury. The Seabourn ships are much more casual and are not the luxurious decor that regent has. Nor does Seabourn have all the specialty dining because it is a smaller ship. Even so I think Seabourn is a spectacular cruise line. And perfect for my needs. The two of you do an excellent job of communicating and sharing what other ships are like and your experience on them. Love watching your channel. I hope you have a lot of success.
Thanks for your lovely comments and for watching ❤️ We are currently on Crystal Cruises and thoroughly enjoying it, but Seabourn does have a special place in our heart.
Such a beautiful vlog..thanks for sharing!!
Ah thanks for that, so kind. In fact we are going on a Uniworld Christmas Markets river cruise the week after next! A new video will be out before Christmas. Thanks for watching ❤️
Thoroughly enjoyed your insight to the Regent Grandeur - mmm food for though me thinks!
@@MicheleBaum-en3hw It was really lovely.. especially the dining! 🥂❤️🤩
I'm sorry your first experience of Oceania was disappointing, that's a shame. Personally, having done all of their ships several times, we still rate Oceania as our favourite line (45 previously on Celebrity, Crystal, Azamara and lesser lines), however Riviera and Marina have been our favourite ships - until Vista!! Been on her twice now and booked on Allura when she launches - the prettiest ship at sea! Food sublime, service superb, main dining room so well designed, not like the normal 'grand dining room' style - Have you tried Vista by the way? If not, please do, and I'm sure your gripes will be washed away...! We were on Sirena just before the Pandemic hit (only just made it home to London 2 days before Lockdown!) But on that particular sailing, obviously we were in a bubble, not being able to dock at any port on the itinerary other than 1 I think, although we still didn't have any issues with the service. One can be unlucky though of course, as I think must've been the case with your experience.
@@MicheleBaum-en3hw Thanks so much for your comments and it just reaffirms that we were very unlucky on Sirena. We are currently on Crystal and are very impressed. We have heard so much about Vista we are definitely going to get onboard and then do a new review and put things right! Thanks again 🙏🏼❤️
@@theposhtravelblog Yes you must! I'm going to look forward to your opinion of Crystal since the takeover - we went on Serenity I think, and I remember loving the dinner in the Italian restaurant, that we went the following night and had exactly the same choice on the menu!!
@@MicheleBaum-en3hw The dining is amazing! The buffet breakfast and lunch is better than Regent! Umi Uma was fantastic too. Italian tonight.. Vlog to follow shortly 🥂
So nobody can sun lounge on the promenade if you don't have a cabin there. That is sad. Sunbathing on the promenade deck on the cunard ships was fantastic on there wooden loungers was good.
It was a very cold and wet cruise, and on previous Fred Olsen cruises there were extra sunloungers on deck so I’m sure they would add more in a warm climate ☀️
day trip without wifi or drink package. Never again! I drink a lot of speciality teas/coffees as well as alcohol. But by prepaying you get wifi, specialty restaurant credits, shore excursions as well as prepaid gratuities. We think they are well worth it as we don't take cruises less than 14 days.
Sound like seasonal moaners....
agree!
Brilliant! Very helpful. We are going on Oceania Riviera in 2026. Can’t wait!
We did one Oceania (Greek Isles) and we were not impressed either. We also did an Explora (Caribbean area) and it was ok but definitely a step up from Oceania. We have decided to stick with Regent and Silver Sea for the next 2 years. Love your channel.
Nice couple, thank you.
We were on the Riveria in September and we felt the same way! The food and service was worse than our cruises on Princess. Not sure why people would ever go on one of their ships. I was definitely expecting more.
Oversold and under delivered unfortunately.. Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
Not a bad wine list. Like to see the reserve list. I think we are going to bring 2 bottles a white and a red and something I know they would not have. Prime 7 had very average reds:(
As a fellow foodie, this video was really useful. I was going to book an Oceania cruise, as a change from Viking, but have now booked the Regent Splendor. Thanks for great output.
@@markheath5827 Regent is amazing we absolutely loved it on both occasions.. Our full vlog review is on our channel on our last cruise from Montreal to New York and shows all the dining options. Good choice 🥂🎉
I wish Regent wasn’t so tight with their caviar. One tiny pancake with a plop of caviar isn’t exactly “Caviar Sunday” 😂
No television?
They had movies and we did go over them but that was it..
Sorry guys, but the sound is not the best :-( Any chance of re-editing?
@@philiphart6688 You’re the first to mention this. It was difficult as it was an impromptu visit to the galley, have done our best and also added subtitles to make it easier to understand..
@@theposhtravelblog Let me just say that I love the super production quality of all your other content, so that's probably why this seemed a bit off. However I do take your point that this was impromptu, and that the footage and sound was a matter of "needs must". Please keep up the great work.
@@philiphart6688 Thanks Philip, I cringed a bit when I heard the sound quality so used subtitles to help! Thanks for your comments and for watching 🙏🏼
Fascinating! What an impressive operation and attention to detail. Thank you for showing us this

This was amazing! Thank you so much for your videos. You are both so polite and kind. GOD bless from Texas❤
Thanks for the lovely comments ❤️
Yikes, what have I done! I'm onboard Sirena for a cruise to the Amazon in January 25 so hoping your comments have the desired effect by then. Thanks for your report and I've subscribed. Cheers.
Hopefully all will be well by then and you will have a fantastic time. Lots of People have told us it was a very unusual experience and not what is usually expected of Oceania so I think we were unlucky!
I was in Budapest ine June this year.
That was so exciting how lucky you where to see that amazing kitchen and chef was so passionate. I hope the beef Wellington was wonderful.
It was amazing as was the lobster!🦞 🤩🥂
I'm surprised the chef didn't make you wash your hands before going into the kitchen. That's standard practice on the Seabourn galley tour.
We did, I had to edit it out as the camera had to be put down. 👍🏼
Hi Stuart & Christina, I really do enjoy all your videos but would ask you a question. All looks great on this ship and other luxury and ultra luxury ships, but you also enjoyed your cruise on Fred Olsen the food , the staff etc somy question is, is it really worth so much more money for a cruise such as this one where is the value most of the food is the same as I said most of the food.
Yes we really enjoyed our Fred Olsen cruise, and thought for a 4* cruise it was excellent. However it can’t be compared to the 6* ships for the fine dining options, all inclusive luxury drinks, plus the brand new ships with the finest fixtures and fittings, it’s a different kettle of fish. We like to give praise where praise is due and that’s what we did on Fred Olsen. Thanks for watching ❤️
True to a degree but most normal people do not eat those foods at home nor would they even want to my point is that little bit extra food and a few more staff worth the thousands of dollars extra that you have to pay. Maybe you eat at home like that but most people do not. In other words it certainly does not sound like value for money.
Incredible insight into the beating heart of an amazing ship. Lets face it , it's the top reason any of us go on these ultra-luxury lines... the commitment to quality on the whole dining occasion is second to none , thank you Stuart and Christina for a brilliant video , those tablets with all the recipes on.. genius !! 😍
Thanks for watching ❤️
What a brilliant video, so interesting to see behind the scenes. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it 🥂
Sooooo cool. I’m boarding a few days after Christmas and hoping those gingerbread houses are still around. As usual-great video!
Goodness, what a great opportunity to see behind the scenes…we have compass rose dinner envy. Only 162 days until our next Regent adventure.
Speechless,.. thank-you! 🇿🇦
Very informative and I really enjoyed seeing behind the scenes. Just one small point - maybe Christina should have been holding the camera, as she hardly talked during the tour. Stuart was talking too much while holding the camera, and often ended up talking over the chef (his microphone obviously closer and louder). The subtitles were definitely needed and appreciated. That would be my only comment though. Really did enjoy the video.
Thanks for your comments ❤️ To be honest we were unprepared, the galley tour was offered last minute and we only decided to film after he agreed to it, so all a bit hit and miss! 😂 Luckily it worked out and we spent all weekend adjusting the subtitles so they were correct. Also it was 15 minutes before start of service so didn’t want to hold him up so let him do all the talking! 😂🤗
It’s a pity you didn’t ask more questions. Would love to know how far do the luxury lines go in making their own ingredients. The chef mentioned that they bought flower do they are not milling their own wheat, but pasta for instance, do they buy the dried ones or make the pasta every day fresh. Ground meat, do they buy purchase that or make their own. Crushed tomatoes for pasta sauce make it or buy it? Etc.
Very last minute and on an extremely tight schedule as service was due to begin in 15 minutes so let him do all the talking! It was also a last minute offer for us to do the tour and we weren’t going to film until he agreed at the last minute, so it was all a bit of a ‘grab the camera and improvise’, luckily it worked out ok. 👌
Loved the kitchen tour with the head chef. The Grandeur’s kitchen is immaculately clean
Thank you for taking the time to share this. We enjoy your body of work. We hope to be on the Grandeur in May 2026.
Great if you get on Grandeur don’t miss the galley tour they do and then you can also ask any questions they have! Michael is a great guy. Thanks for watching 🙏🏼🤗
Why do you never mention the price is it that you don’t pay retail or is it the case if you have to ask you should not do it .
We are travel agents so we were lucky to receive a discount on this cruise and are not permitted to share the price..
Your best video! Showing what most people never get to see. It will be a whole new perspective when we sail on Grandeur next year.
Lovely, Grandeur is beautiful. They do the galley tour for everyone on one of the days so you can experience it for yourselves 🤗❤️
Hi guys. We've just come back from msc yacht club. Worked out £200 per person per day. Inside cabin which was obviously not ideal. Seabourn heavily advertising at the moment works out @470 pp per day. Do you reckon it's worth the extra dough? I know you haven't done yacht club yet, but you will be able to shed some light on this I'm sure. My wife and I really do look forward to your videos, thank you
@@Turn12335 Heard great things about MSC yacht club. Seabourn is wonderful, yes more expensive, but smaller ships and more select. Dining and drinks excellent, entertainment options also excellent, suites beautiful. Oh and if you like caviar it’s on tap 24 hours a day! Can’t compare as we haven’t been on yacht club, but we do like Seabourn! Also Explora Journeys and Regent are excellent. Thanks for watching ❤️🥂
@theposhtravelblog thank you so much for taking the time to answer. The trouble with yacht club, is that it's so small. Yes, MSC virtuosa is huge, but the YC lounge area is titchy. YC Top deck more spacious. Even the staff (who work exclusively in YC), don't like the rest of the ship. Beauty of your recommendations, is that no matter where you are on board, everything is 5 star. We went with in laws who had the last balcony cabin. It cost them @£260 PP per day. The difference between a crap inside, and a spacious balcony is like night and day. I think the inside cabin skewed my overall memory of yacht club. If I'd managed to pay for a balcony, I'd probably not even think about a £470 a night Seabourn. It just left me a little disappointed. But I know, you two would like YC. Maybe one day you'll try it!
Thank you for the info. Looking forward to our upcoming cruise - love Regent!
Regent is wonderful!! 🎉🥂❤️
good tour! Terrible room. In all of their suites, the couch faces the bed, not the TV. You have to watch TV in bed so you're no better than a motel room.
You sound like a complete nob mass cruise I must be a bum cruiser😮
Wonderful video. But we did not see you dancing.
Christina and Stuart, we just LOVE your delightful videos! Question- if memory serves, on one of your videos you teased doing one comparing Regent to Seabourn. That would be really interesting to see. Keep up the good work, and happy traveling!
Yes in the pipeline but just need to do a little more research first! 😂❤️
Christina and Stuart, you two are a hoot, and I've enjoyed your videos. The only negative I would put forth is the sound quality on all of your videos. The volume is quite inconsistent and sometimes sounds muffled. I've tried watching your videos on both my television and computer and it's the same on both whereas I don't experience this from other UA-cam videos. Can I suggest you upgrade your sound equipment to give the viewer a better experience? Otherwise, keep up the good work!
Thanks Ann! 😂 We have vastly improved since those terrible sound days 😂😂 If you watch one of our recent offerings I think you will be more impressed! Thanks for watching ❤️🤗
First time subscriber. Thank you, I enjoyed this blog very much. You are both so nice.
Thank you 🙏🏼❤️
It would be nice to show more details. Would like to see the dinner, what was served for the 7 couse dinner? Would like to see the spa, what do they offer etc. More details please, cause you come to the location, and then say it was stunning, you don't show what was stunning..
I believe the Swiss horn may be a nod to Swissair flight 111 that crashed into the ocean off the coast of Peggy’s Cove in September 1998. 229 people perished.
Crumbs, we didn’t know about that. We spoke in length to the gentleman playing the horn and he was a lovely guy, but he never mentioned it. That now makes perfect sense, thanks for sharing ❤️
