Another Kardia macro that is good for 2 tank content that has tank swaps is doing "/ac Kardia " This makes it so that when you are targeting an enemy and you push the button, it will put Kardia on whomever is the target of that enemy this makes it so that you can easily swap Karida between the tanks at tank swaps occur. This also allow, if tanks die, for you to switch Kardia quickly to whomever is alive and being targeted at that moment.

@@jccavazos6751 Noise! Hopefully you are enjoying it. Another interesting tip for Sage that many may not be aware is that Krassis also affects your Kardia heals too! Great to use on tanks when taking dmg or bleeding busters. Don't sleep on it.

Hello! PLD/DRK Main here! This is a macro that is specifically for 8 man content usually high end stuff BUT super useful regardless. For shirk if you set a macro to /ac “Shirk” this will always target your cotank during tankswaps since as a tank your cotank will always be the second person on your party list and is the only time youre ever using shirk outside of memeing on your dps friends in dungeons. Another way you could write the macro is as /ac “Shirk” which means your targets target, or the current main tank, I dont tend to use this one as theres no real reason to not use 2. You _could_ use this target method as a healer for a maintank heal macro but id usually stay away from that for the aforementioned issue Bun said of server ticks, it is however AWESOME for a kardia reapply macro if youre on sage and the main tank and off tank will be swaping for extended periods of time like in p5s or p6s
Agreed. I use this for my co-tank abilities as well (Intervention, Nascent Flash, etc.) Changing targets and using these abilities normally is more effort and more likely to clip for me than just mashing a macro.
Uhm, note that party lists can be altered/rearranged according to player’s preferences so co-tank isn’t always at No. 2 in the party list. The “2” should be changed to which order the co-tank falls under.
For example in my case, when I play tank, I have my co-tank in the last position so the macro should be /ac Shirk

I'm new to healing but one macro that has really helped me is having my attack spells on target of target, so I can keep tank as my target and still attack without changing target. This is WHM example:

@sb Is there a reason it is wrong? Seems like it helps me do more damage while I can heal without having to switch targets. Just trying to understand the reasoning behind it being wrong.

as a controller user mainly playing SCH, I use;
/micon Galvanize
/ac Galvanize
used when in a party and used on the boss. the shield will apply on the bosses target (the tank), no need to switch targets to apply shields for tankbusters etc
similarly, swap in /ac Excogitation to place excog on the tank in trash pulls, while still targeting mobs while running or in boss fights, also works for WHM regen, it's a simple second saver by not having to cycle through the party list.
I really wish SE would stop the BS idea that macros need to be intentionally gimped to avoid automation. Using and for healer offensive spells so you can continue to use them while physically targetting a party member is a major QoL improvement, especially for target heavy jobs.... like AST.
for the revive macro you can actually put every revive spell into the same macro and for this i'd just use the [Resurrection] word from the auto-translate list so it's universally understandable what you're doing :D

you want /micon at the bottom to reduce macro delay /merror off at the top to remove error messages. for example, my Kardia macro:

The repeated lines help you sort of "correct" the macro delay and is best because you can swap around Kardia instead of being committed to one target only.

I feel like a Cover macro on PLD is the way to go on controller since that way i can just press L3 or R3 for it the second i use the D-pad to go down and select the ally i want to use cover on without any time being lost since i can't have the Hotbar active as im moving through the list of allies in the party
Could you elaborate? How would a Cover macro like that look and how does it help?
@@Cloud7050 I usually use it to cover the healer or the *on tank* in desperate situations where there is much alongside hallowed ground and that way we both have a good shot of surviving :)
@@Force-Multiplier I don't use controller so I'm not familiar with its target selection. What does a macro like that do as opposed to just using the action normally?

and skill sloths are limited so we have to sloth skills to the D-Pad too meaning that we can't select allies and be ready to use cover immediately wich is why i use cover there

I have the MT on focus all the time, so I use Icarus on focus, I found that especially useful for wall2wall pulls!
I use a healer macro where my attack spells will target whatever enemy the party member I’m on targets. For example, I leave the tank selected as my target for the heal spells and my attack spells will target whoever the tank targets. It’s a huge help because I have some motor issues with my hands and if I didn’t do this I could never play healer effectively, now I get comms and complements all the time.
Holy crap that’s a crazy good idea, I’ve been struggling swapping between targeting the boss/mobs for dps while trying to weave in heals on the party. Doing that with say, white mage, would take like 3 macros to have most of my dps spells covered…

I love creative healer raise macros. I think its cool when someone puts thought into their raise macros instead of being basic.
I do too. I liked the idea of spell chants and they can be pretty funny too.
Mine says “I am god, I choose when you die and today is not that day! Maybe tomorrow.”
I absolutely love the healer Rais macros that say something funny in chat like this one I saw a few days ago, "Hurry! Get up before I get in trouble!" Or something like that
As a PLD on controller I macro a lot.
I macro a message for Cover, PoA, Invulnerability, Shirk, basically any time the party should know something.
I macro mitigations together so I just need to mash one button for Sentinel and Sheltron or another button for Rampart and Reprisal.
I macro FoF and Requiescat together because they are both popped at the same time.
As a pld i got irritated when i used certain mitigation for my party such as "cover" because the second they see that green teather they run away from me. (Thinking its from the fight) snd then ultimately getting wrecked lol
So i put a macro on it that way tlthey stopped running everytime. Simply saying "this is good. Dont break it"
I think its important for members to know that tanks are tanks for a reason lol we are literally there as a defense for everyone else. Dont be afraid to use us especially for pld which has great party mitigation

I know this isn't correct but I always liked swift cast res macros. Make one that targets player 2, 3, and 4(your co healer and tanks) and one for 5 and 6 (your red mage and summoner, I always put them on the top of my dps list because they have res) and one for 7 and 8. It's sub optimal but the halve second I lose I gain back by not having to scroll to their name for the rest. I fine it useful for proging new raids. If they complain about it being sub optimal, I would point out that dying is also sub optimal
I use one that goes in priority of what i am targetting, target 2, which is always a tank, then target 4, which in full party is the cohealer, then 3, 5, 6, 7, 8. So no matter what happens or who i am targetting, someone is getting revived, and the only cases i need to be hyper specific with making sure im targetting someone is if i need to raise the cohealer over tank 1, or a specific DPS with raise over another DPS.
....5 years...i have 5 years on my account and did not know you could self target holmgang...5 YEARS!

Because it allows for a more responsive macro then just once. Since ffxiv works on server ticks.
@@BunBossFFXIV This might be a stupid question, but If I were to lets say put in more than 14 ticks for etc double it to 28 ticks, would that boost responsiveness any further or would it start to affect the macro negatively?

@@KHLOUWDYmacros can only be 15 lines long. 1 line is almost always saved for macro error off so you don't die of annoyance
Best way to describe it is that when you don't use macro, spells go onto a queue and will be used the first possible frame, as long as you are close enough. Macros don't do this, so if you press is too early, it won't read the input and if you press it too late, you are missing damage. To get around this you write it multiple times and time it so hopefully one of the times it will hit the first possible frame. Writing it 14 time means you have a 14 frame window to be correct compared to one frame
Really long/complicated raise macros confuse the situation too much. It's better to be able to glance, see a name and confirm "OK I don't need to get that raise".
Also, for targetable macros I put in the command again without so I can still do the ground place method if a target isn't where I want it or moves out of range for whatever reason.
I've been a tank main since ARR. The only macros I use are to shirk/mitigation on the OT. Like as PLD I have a /ac intervention , DRK I do oblation/tbn etc. I also have some macros for placing salted earth on DRK, one for placing it on myself and one for placing it on my target. The reason for both is that in raid content sometimes you need to place it while moving the boss or while out of melee range, so having the flexibility of both options let's you always place in in a way it will hit the boss for the full duration without having to manually place it.

extravagent raise macros: for non savage i look at it as just being a lighthearted thing and i find them entertaining, now for (current) extremes/savage no they are distracting
That DRK macro for Living Dead is gonan be super helpful in DF, much appreciated. Now I can use it without watchign my DPS run off as I'm typing to my heale that I'm gonna pull with it...and hoping they know the icon lol.

Gonna be honest- if I’m in a dungeon or raid or trial, I’m looking at the players Hp and if it had the raise icon next to it. I’m not looking at the chat box. By the time that macro kicks in I’ve already cast raise and moved on

Interestingly I saw that Tank invulnerability macro for the first time about 2 hours ago in The Burn. The Gunbreaker kept popping it and I just realised what he was trying to say to the healer.

What macro is the raise for Sage
Something I stumbled across is building a macro with both Swift cast and Res, but no wait time. If you just press it twice, the first press will perform swift cast, and the second will do Res because swift is in cool down.
I have rescue macro and Benediction/other healer big heal macro for targeting weavable heals. Which is possible by writing the line over and over to give the game more chances to actually use it. For tanks I do similar with nascent flash, aurora, TBN etc so that I can weave mitigations/heals in during a fight that normally would require me targeting that player, casting it and targeting the boss again which depending on what I am doing might lose me a GCD or might cause me to miss a cast.
The macro reads like /ac "Nascent Flash" repeated as many times as possible, and with the /micon name. This is interchangeable for any weavable party member targeted skill and all you ahve to do is change the name and the number to designate which party member to target. Some people say its not necessary but the number of times it has saved me a from clipping into my GCDs or worse warrants the use for me, plus its just easier for that specific use.
You don't really need the healer to save you when using Living Dead since the buff though. The only instance where you would actually die after using LD is if every single mob dies before you can get your self healing. But seeing as it takes one AoE or like 2-3 single target attacks for the full heals, this will very rarely happen.

It's to let the other healer know that your swiftcast is on cooldown and that they should raise them if they have it ready.

I like this one, for mouse and keyboard, you can rescue someone just by pointing your mouse on them and hitting the ability, I find it easier than clicking on them or checking their name

Telling healer you are wall to walling vs asking healer if okay to wall to wall pull is rude af. This is from a healer who prefers wall to wall pulls but yeah. You shouldnt just assume your healer is okay with wall to wall.
Wall to wall pulling is the norm. It should always be assumed that w2w is going to happen unless the healer says they are not comfortable with it.

I do use revive messages and most of the time I try not to make them too long but I do try to make them kind of funny

holmgang was changed recently to not need a target 🙂
But you would still have deselect an enemy then cast it. This way you can just press the button still
Yeah, but if you use Holmgang on an enemy and that enemy dies, your Holmgang effect ends. Very annoying in dungeon pulls. Saves a step for having to deselect first.
@@TheVivi13 if im not mistaken holmgangs chain only stops the movement of an enemy now, its invuln isnt tied to the chain, correct me if im wrong

@@harmonicbean4521 Lmao no worries, a LOT of people find that "fun" fact to be pretty surprising.
It is frustrating to come to FFXIV, after playing WoW for nearly 2 decades, and see how gimped macros are for usefulness in combat. While you can't string GCD abilities in WoW using a macro, you can easily string oGCD abilities quite nicely, queue skills on the tail end of a macro, spam other skills, and even execute multiple actions while a macro executes, like moving around. There is also no delay when stringing oGCD abilities in WoW.
For example, in WoW Mages have a skill called "Presence of Mind". The FFXIV equivalent is "Swiftcast". The FFXIV skill, "Presence of Mind", is the same as the WoW skills "Bloodlust/Heroism/Time Warp". Just that the WoW skills are raid wide and FFXIV's skill is self only. Going back to "Presence of Mind"-WoW/"Swiftcast"-FFXIV though, healers will macro "Swiftcast" with their resurrection spell for an instant battle res. In WoW, a Mage will macro "Presence of Mind" with a very long and powerful nuke, like Pyroblast which has a 5 second cast time.
When these macros are pressed the following happens: In FFXIV, you need a /wait 1 between "Swiftcast" and the revive spell to account for a server delay between activating the oGCD skill and the GCD skill. In WoW, there is no delay. The moment the macro is hit, the Mage will instantly cast their big spell as if it was natively instant cast and not powered out by another skill. If you don't use a /wait 1 in FFXIV macros, between oCGDs, then you have to spam the macro button repeatedly to get it to cycle through all the oGCDs until you arrive at the GCD ability you are wanting to boost.
Thankfully, if everyone knows what they are doing and are generally competent, you don't really need many macros to be highly effective. As such, as skill goes up, you don't notice the lack as much.
What I think about the long and annoying ones are just that ... long and annoying. I don't need you to tell me I am a zombie or Nophica has given me her blessing or that you are the best healer in the world because you have daned to raise me while we are fighting. If you want to put "back to the fight you go (target)" or "up you go (target)" I am not opposed to those but yeah make it short and sweet and not smart ***y please. Because to be very clear I now take pots to dungeons because healers seem to be reluctant to heal in dungeons these days. It's like your within that above 50% mark I can't be bothered ... oops didn't know they would aoe for over 30% then do a direct hit to kill you wow mb. Funny how its always mb but some long winded sililoquy about the raise. And all I want to say is if you had healed in the first place wouldn't need a raise. Nor to sit on the floor for 90 sec while your swiftcast reprocks because you just raised the tank. Oops mb for the rant.
As a healer main I hate raise macros .. while the other healer is spamming his macro I've already raised the person and am healing them. And if I ever saw anyone spamming that swiftcast macro I'd report them for macro spam. That's so unnecessary and spammy.

Kind of a dumb thing to get angry over. It's an informative gesture for other healers or the rest of the party. A very simple thing so that way party members don't start crying for a raise every few seconds.
I main tank but it's good to know how long before maybe my off tank is back up running or how long till our DPS can get help...it helps me predict what I can do to help protect my healers until they are ready.
